I have Windows 11 set to the default balanced power plan (as recommended by AMD with Ryzen 5000 CPUs) but oddly there is another power option within settings I can select between best power efficiency, balanced or best performance and it seems completely separate to power plans. No changes made when switching through these power modes

Seasonic are very good, some will say that Corsair are good too but they are a reseller. Some of their PSUs will be Seasonic or other brands but manufactured with Corsair logos. might want to contact them first chance you get. Something doesn't seem to be right. Especially if you are connected via ethernet. Those speeds I'd understand if you were over wifi as they are close to waht I get but ethernet was meant to be better and allow you to get closer to the speeds you pay for where wifi can't (without being on the latest wifi standard, wifi 6/6e at least)

Virgin Media claim their gig1 customers should get 1130 Mbps average. Which would show up as 141 MB/s on game launchers if it actually done that and that equals over 508GB/hour. Throw the game with the biggest download size at this and I bet it would be done in way less than an hour

About to head off for bed but AMD released a preview driver along side their latest driver (22.5.1) that on top of supporting AMD's newest RDNA 2 GPUs claims to have improved the performance of DirectX 11 games on RDNA 2 GPUs by 8% on average, with some games seeing much higher improvements (as much as 30%) and I believe GTA 5 was one of the games on the list I found with greater improvements. Shame it took AMD this long to release a DirectX 11 optimization driver. Though better late than never I guess

btw N0urtney. I used to be one for doing all sorts of optimization tweaks but after a while and reading some comments saying they broke stuff I left things be and let windows do what it needs to. Installation has been super stable since with minimal issues, besides the odd dodgy windows update, driver update or game update. All of which can be fixed with another update (or hotfix) vs having to completely reinstall windows after applying some dodgy optimization guide tweaks lol

yeah, I stopped trusting those kinds of programs and tweaks after finding out for myself in a similar way but for a good while I thought it was actually doing something good for the system.
Even up until late last year I didn't know the default windows power plan was alright to use. I was always under the impression being a gamer I had to set it to high performance (or with the help of a cmd tweak, ultimate performance) to get the best performance but balanced still does the trick and saves some power when it isn't needed. I still make sure to disable hibernation too though every time I reinstall Windows. Usually one of the first thing I do after installing windows, making sure it is up to date and installing the necessary drivers before I start installing game launchers and get to playing games

Running the gears 5 PC benchmark on my 3080 ti xc3 gaming. 1440p 165 hz--Its a 2 slot card with 3 fans. GPU core temp is 83.4 but hotspot temp is 92c. Is this too hot or is that normal thermals?

first indication is that temperatures are very high which even with Nvidia cards seemingly running very hot I'd still say 84C is on the hot side for a stock, triple fan cooler GPU

sheesh. That's MSI's top end product or whatever you call it. I'd ask for a second opinion from another representative. To spent that much on a GPU and for it to crash I'd want it replaced or my money back. Luckily I haven't had any issues like that with my 6800 XT. Overpaid the MSRP by almost double but has been working flawlessly since I bought it last June

I'd talk to Virgin Media and see if they can send out an engineer to check it and if they confirm it is faulty have it replaced and hopefully that fixes your download speed issue. Maybe explain that to the engineer while they are out too so they can see and show them the SamKnows benchmark results for good measure

Just that a lot of people weren't aware and AMD are now apparently milking people of their money slapping an additional $100 on the original 6900 XT's price tag

one thing I will say is the preview driver AMD released recently is pretty exciting. Really makes me want to see how DirectX 11 games perform now in 4K with the additional performance from this driver. Performance gains on some games can be huge but so far I believe only 1080p and 1440p have been tested by others so will be curious to see some 4K results

just one thing to really watch out for with Zen 3 processors. Since the AGESA 1.2.0.4 update (many motherboard vendors didn't apply it or 1.2.0.5 to their motherboards) there seems to be an issue with EDC past 140. Idk the whole technical side of it but from what I understand it will cap out VDDC voltage and no longer boost past 140 EDC. Many saying it is a bug but for it to exist in the past three AGESA updates idk. Perhaps it's not a bug and AMD intend for this behaviour on their CPUs going forward?

Any cheap mechanical Keyboard recommendations? My Logitech G910 broke after 7 years of heavy and daily use.

From Reddit and another Gig1 user - What does seem to be an issue is the fact that it's reporting DOCSIS 3.0 readings when for a Gig1 connection you should be using DOCSIS 3.1. If this was taken from the Hub 4.0 readings I hope the engineer fixes this for you as it's clearly a major issue.

by fix I'm guessing that will involve and engineer coming to replace the existing line with a 3.1 cable. Unless 3.0 and 3.1 are compatible with each other? if anything I thought DOCSIS 3.1 was more for future proofing their network and will be enabled when the time is right - with the likes of a Hub 5 and 2gig+ package

Well, my 'box' is right by my front door and when we moved in, we had trouble activating the router. so a tech came out, done the router and I asked to change it into my room but he said because of the council he couldn't do it. So, we got a long coax cable and routed through the walls. the tech today just changed the isolaters and ends of the coax cables with vm's one's so all is good. I showed him the 400mbps with samknows and said it shouldn't be doing that. he had an old iPhone (he laughed) and said max he could pull was 600mbps over wifi. I've tried wifi, but my android phone isn't the best but it's at like 300mbps but wired is getting like 940mbps which is to be expected.

I always hated the Epic Games launcher since I love Achievements, it lacks profile customization and it makes my whole PC lag for some reason.
Removing Rocket League from Steam was also very questionable since the Epic Version lacks all the nice Workshop stuff now. You also unlock all these fancy avatar borders but can't even set an avatar on EG.
It's pretty okayish nowadays though. The launcher runs a bit better now and they added proper Achievement support. I just hope the rest gets added as well.
I was able to buy Bugsnax for 5€ with a coupon in one of their sales which was pretty neat. That was when it was still PS/Epic exclusive.

I tried Star Citizen on my PC in a recent free play and even with a 5600X, 32GB 3600MHz DDR4 RAM and a 6800 XT it still wipes the floor with my PC. Crazy demanding but so much to do it is hardly surprising. Have yet to try MSFS 2020 but yeah, that can be just as taxing on hardware or at least from what I've seen and heard about it

It might be worth trying again, because in 3.17 (the patch released at the beginning of this month) they've started to improve the overall performance of the game. Parts of the new renderer came online with it, and the game ran incredibly smoother.

Although, free flies can also be pretty bad with performance, due to so many people logging into the game at the same time.

That's all completely wrong.

Ships can be purchased ingame, the "grind" aka playing the game can earn you enough cash to buy a larger multicrew ship in a week or so, if you spent say.. 3-4 hours a day playing, and you don't lose your ship if it blows up. You can claim it back for free and wait a few minutes, or pay some ingame currency to get it back quicker.

There's a mission ingame which takes about 15 minutes to do, and earns you 20,000 credits. A ship like the Cutlass Black, a general purpose multicrew cargo ship costs 1.4 million credits. Or, get a Prospector mining ship for 2 million credits, and the thing pretty much prints money at that point.

recently i bought an xbox one controller and i came across an error when i play Flight Simulator, my rudder it gets stuck sometimes when i press LT, and i went searching and downloaded an app to help me, i downloaded it and saw that when I released it, it didn't go back to its "zero" it was pressed even if I didn't press, can anyone help me??

main issue I found with pc gaming on a TV is scaling being way off but that may be small compared to other issues

also, Midi because it is an OLED monitor as long as it supports displayport 1.4 (or newer) you'll be fine since that is the native PC port. Think some features can be funny or flat out not be supported over HDMI (even on the latest HDMI 2.1 version)

I'm still tempted to buy the Samsung Odyssey Neo G8 whenever it becomes available in the UK. if I do that idk what I'll do with the LG C1 I have. Main reason I bought that was to use as a PC monitor but the Neo G8's 4K 240Hz spec sounds crazy. I'd be future proof for some time with that for sure lol

well aware of that. First time I tried connecting my LG C1 to my computer with HDMI 2.1 scaling was set to 300%. Looked way too big but at the same time 100% looked tiny

would sure hope so. PSU can outlive PC builds by 2:1 (maybe even 3:1) with their warranties. Last thing people would need is to factor in further cost having to buy a whole new PSU with a similar rating just with added 12 pin support for their shiny new GPU that is staring at them on a shelf while they possibly save up for that new PSU lol

tbh when the time comes that I have no choice but to upgrade my PSU I'll probably go for something similar. Titanium rated but lower wattage. 1000-1200W. Between the efficiency and power that can hold I'd hope I can see out the warranty before having to replace it again any time soon. Seasonic is what I'd pick too

I have a 1200W but it seems the 7900XT and 4090 Ti will need more.

I could go 1600 but why not just got the full 2000 which should be good for a nice 6-8 years.

I have my doubts about the power requirements tbh. Unless these GPUs plan to be powered by not one but two 12 pin connectors but this time I'm planning ahead so I'm ready regardless (bar a significant change in PSU standards). Will be going from a 650W 80plus gold Corsair RM650i to at least 1000W 80 plus titanium and I heard the Seasonic PRIME has a 12 year warranty. That sounds immense and something I can definitely trust

12 pin connectors can use up to 500W each iirc and then there is the 75W from PCIE. I have serious doubts we are going to see GPUs make use of 1075W. Sure we have a few extreme cases already that can make use of 600W+ but those cards are just silly and afaik really don't offer much for all that power. Apparently a 6950 XT can still catch it at near half the power lol

They have power spikes. And officially it’s 575W however AIB’s will no doubt push that higher.

And there have been leaks of potential cards with two 12 pins.

You have to remember that the other components need power too & you want a little headroom.

I remember seeing some info on the spikes the 6900 XT had (or at least some models) that could spike into, maybe even past 600W for a few ms (milliseconds?) but that could be all it takes to trip a PSU. Think AMD managed to calm that down somewhat with the 6950 XT, even though it uses more power. Spikes don't seem quite a bad going by TechPowerUp's report. Though I'd glad I dodged something not going for the 6900 XT when i could have. Likely wouldn't have ended well for my PSU lol

Thought I'd check the pricing of the 3070 but that was a bit crazy compared to the 6750 XT. They should perform similarly while the 6750 XT has 50% more VRAM (12GB vs 8GB on the 3070)

Seems like a decent machine. Just note that it doesn't seem to come with a windows installation so you still need to get that (if you plan on using windows)

It's available on Acers official website with Windows 11 preinstalled nevermind seems like it doesn't come with windows at all in romania.
Romanian website also just lists "UEFI Shell" as OS
