I'm old enough to remember buying a complete game from the store and not having any additions being made to it. There's drawbacks to both types of models for gaming

I like having the ability to have a game in which new content is added. It annoys me when this new content is only added to make money.

I think there's a difference between a developer that loves their game and wants to keep updating it for the people who play it. And people who throw something together to get people to pay more.

In the old model, they would need to have enough material to make a sequel that could possible come out eventually. In this you get an area that's not a much money as a whole new game and still get to enjoy this one.
