Sunblink and Sanrio are partnering to announce that Hello Kitty Island Adventure, a narrative-driven life simulation game embracing friendship and positivity starring Hello Kitty and Friends, will debut July 28, 2023 exclusively on Apple Arcade: https://apple.co/HKIA.
Hello Kitty Island Adventure invites players to embark on a tropical getaway where friends and adventures are always just around the corner.
When My Melody is invited to open a gift shop at Big Adventures Park, she invites Hello Kitty and friends—including you! to come along for a tropical island adventure. But things go sideways upon arrival, with the friends separated and the park found abandoned. Join forces with Hello Kitty to restore the desolate theme park to its former glory and create the ultimate island paradise!
Create a unique, Sanrio-style original avatar and get to know iconic Sanrio characters like Kuromi, Badtz-Maru, Cinnamoroll, Chococat, and Aggretsuko. Share gifts, complete quests, and take part in island activities to deepen your bonds. Spruce up cabins to attract new visitors from among Hello Kitty’s many friends. Create a stylish wardrobe all your own, solve mysterious puzzles, cook delectable recipes, collect friendly critters, and fish, and explore the island solo or with a friend to unearth the many secrets of a massive in-game world.

We’ve just released our 1.0.4 Hotfix and it should be rolling out to folks over the next few hours. It contains the following fixes:
- Friends can no longer take important items from your island
- You will receive a warning if your iCloud storage is full
- The issues with the Zipline Quest have been fixed
- You can no longer access areas outside of the gate before it is open
- Many more bugs have been fixed as well
If you have already experienced these issues and are in a broken state, we have an additional hotfix (1.0.5) that we hope to release in the next few days. This will fix save states for folks who could not craft certain tools that they made in multiplayer and address progression blockers around going beyond the gate before the quest was completed.
We will be closing out many bugs in #1108858197369958590 related to these issues.

Hello @everyone ! Let's talk about our Hotfix and upcoming 
LittleTwinStars
update!
Our 1.0.5 Hotfix went live last night. It's a small but mighty update that addresses the following issues:
- Very rarely, folks were losing save data; that should no longer happen. To folks who were affected by this, please send a message to @twin bear with the approximate % of your game. We will be preparing save files for everyone to help get you back on track, and giving you a package of friendship blossoms and ultimate gifts as an apology. You'll also be receiving the full Launch Celebration outfit set. We know that save data loss can be devastating, and we want to do our best to make up for this issue.
- Restored key items to folks who may have lost them during multiplayer
- Clarified the save file conflict popups
- Fixed quests that players may have become blocked on
- Added a What's New banner so you can get this info in game
- Addressed several smaller bugs and issues
Our first update, 1.1 - The LittleTwinStars, is coming on August 25th!
- Have you scaled Icy Peak? Get ready to rise into the sky and meet the LittleTwinStars in a brand new area of the game.
- Participate in the Summer's End event to get seasonal athletic wear, a beachy towel wrap, and more new looks and new furniture.
- Craft multiple things at once! No more grinding Gizmos into Mechanisms one by one! You'll also be able to donate multiple critters and cook multiple items at once.
- Ask visitors to stay at your island permanently! Make sure you get
Dear Daniel into the cabin you want him in! - Many more quality of life updates and small bug fixes!

Our 1.0.6 Hotfix went live last night. All Yummy Furniture is now obtainable, we fixed some more bugs, and we now have the ability to provide replacement save files to folks who encountered issues.

We were overwhelmed by the excitement around the 1.1 Update! Thank you so much for all your support.
Our 1.1.1 Hotfix went live last night. It contains the following fixes:
- The LittleTwinStars now have 10 more levels of friendship and brand new Cloud Island decor and palettes
- Hello Kitty's Sous Chef ability has been fixed and the proper bonuses should be working
- The Summer's End Celebration Stand should now be uncovered for everyone
- Bonus Sunscreen time has ended: players now receive 1 from each daily request
- The new Gudetama hat from 1.1 is now showing up properly
- Character boxes now reflect the gift that you gave your Bestie
- Missing strings were restored
- Many early game improvements were made to initial quests
- Players on Day 3 of the game should get a bonus Friendship Bouquet from My Melody
We are aware of an issue with players not currently receiving the Friendship Bouquet. This will be fixed in Hotfix 1.1.2, along with some non-English issues with Pam's requirements descriptions, which will be released shortly.

Hey @everyone - here's an important announcement with a special surprise at the end!
On the topic of Multiplayer:
When we first launched this game, some of the earliest responses in #1108858060534988980 were about wanting to be able to do more things together. We had many partners, families, and friends that wanted to experience the game together, and they found the multiplayer experience lacking.
Creating and building friendships is a core part of Hello Kitty and Sanrio, and it has always been our goal to encourage this through Hello Kitty: Island Adventure. From the very beginning our motto has been “Everything should be better with friends”. To that end, we want to make sure that all aspects of the game, from exploring to questing to mini-games, are enhanced by joining together, without detracting from the single-player experience.
This continues to be our goal.
However, there are two major issues we are addressing:
1. Multiplayer Tech. Our current multiplayer backend has never met our expectations for a 99% success rate. Things were supposed to improve with the release of iOS17. When they did not, it became our first priority to switch to a new multiplayer backend. This is our absolute top priority right now, but represents a significant technical effort and may take more than one update to complete.
2. Interference with Solo Play. Our intention was never to ‘force’ anyone to have to engage with multiplayer, but rather to enable those who were clearly asking for rich multiplayer experiences to have them and be able to engage with each other in new exciting ways. Gating solo content on the multiplayer quests was unintentional, fixed as of the 1.2.2 Hotfix (should be live soon), and shouldn’t happen again. In future multiplayer quests, players will have the ability to tell a character they don’t want to do it, and the quest will be backlogged/hidden.
In response to safety concerns, our app is in full compliance with Apple’s fantastic safety standards. For questions and comments regarding platform-wide safety regulations, please contact Apple Support (https://getsupport.apple.com/). Sunblink won’t be engaging with the topic further, and will be removing posts about it in feedback.
Will there be more multiplayer content coming? Yes.
Will it gate critical path content? No.

The Hugs & Hearts Festival starts today!
The Hugs & Hearts Festival has arrived with an adorable new discovery: lovebugs! These precious critters are only around for a short time before they transform. Catch as many lovebugs as you can for charming furniture and new fashions like the Sweetheart Dress, Rockabilly Suit, Love Bug Hat and more.
One lovebug will appear somewhere nearby the new habitat each day. Don’t worry: it’ll come back if you scare it away!

You can now see which friends you’ve taken to the Heart of the Island by checking your friends page.
Multiplayer Revamp
For improved safety and clarity, we’ve redone our multiplayer section of the Discord. To gain access, you’ll have to carefully read our #🕹unlock-multiplayer channel. Reacting with the correct emoji will grant you the Trader role, which will let you access channels to trade, play together, and look at other players’ storefronts.
Luck & Lanterns Continues
There are seven dragon pearls to find each day around Seaside Resort, and you’ll also get a dragon pearl for each daily quest you complete. Exchange these pearls at the Event Stand to get exclusive furniture, and be sure to check in to the daily calendar for Lunar New Year inspired outfits. Happy Year of the Dragon, everyone!

Accessibility Improvements
Flower Improvements: Working with Flowers just got a little easier!
- You can now stack flowers when compositing -- time for some bulk fertilizer!
- There's now a tab specifically for flowers when editing your cabin
- The UI should remember the last thing you planted, making it easier to plant repeats
- We flipped the gradients on patterned Eggwort and Marigolds to be consistent with the other flower types
- We fixed the trim pattern on Marigold flower crowns
Better Weather: We've included several improvements to weather in 1.7.5, with more to come:
- Weather timers will now persist across sessions, so if it says rain is coming later when you log off, it will still be coming later when you log back in
- We've also shortened the maximum time between weather events to 40 minutes
- We've removed Starfall Chests spawning in inaccessible locations
- We've added Starfall Chests to Cloud Island
- We've removed the quests to catch Weather-related Critters
Small Bug Fixes: We've fixed several soft locks and other bugs to improve player experience

We're excited to announce that Content Update 1: Friends, Furniture, and Frozen Peaks, is coming to Steam and Switch on the following dates:

✨ What's Included ✨
In this free update, players can explore **expansions to Icy Peak **(Blizzard Peak and Snow Village), discover new weather and flowers, and enjoy dozens of new stories and cosmetics– from bestie quests to character furniture sets. CU1 also includes fan-requested features like Furniture Stacking (placing multiple items on tables, mannequins, and even on top of other furniture, as well as rugs on floors, and more) and Call Friend (so you can companion with your Sanrio friends from anywhere).
We also heard the feedback from our Switch and Steam players who want accommodation for more types of play styles. First mentioned in #heads-up message, we implemented 3 of the 4 features we investigated to help ensure players can play on their own time, whether that's by having longer sessions on fewer days thanks to our 3-day resource stacking, or if it's running around endlessly for hours collecting Sparkles, a new resource that accrues in real time instead of with the daily reset.

We want to let our Nintendo Europe players know that Wheatflour Wonderland will launch on September 23rd instead of tomorrow, due to an unexpected regional approval requirement.

City Town Update
Hello everyone,
We’d like to share an important update on the status of City Town. This message includes information relevant to all platforms, so please read carefully.
Recently, we began our **City Town DLC closed beta **with the goal of launching Part 1 on Switch, PC, and PS5 by the end of this year. However, feedback from the beta made it clear that we still have a significant amount of work to do in order to reach the level of quality this release (and our players) deserve.
We always try to deliver the best experience possible. We’d like to integrate the feedback (and our learnings from Wheatflour Wonderland) and make City Town the best it can be, rather than rush it out before it’s ready. With that in mind, we’ve updated our roadmap: the City Town DLC is now planned for next year, likely around Q2 2026 (April–June). It will be a single paid release, similar in structure to Wheatflour Wonderland. Pricing details will be shared closer to launch.
For Arcade players, the next major update (2.11) will include substantial changes to City Town—featuring a completely redesigned map that improves gameplay flow, storytelling, and navigation. We’re also reworking main storyline progression over the next few updates to remove most (if not all) of the “wait a day” style quest requirements, replacing them with gameplay and friendship-based requirements instead. This has been one of the most frequent pieces of feedback across all platforms, and we hope these changes will create a smoother, more engaging experience for everyone.
For Switch, PS5, and PC players, our free update, CU4, will be coming mid-December. CU4 includes new event content, a new flower, additional visitors and gudetama, and many quality of life improvements and bug fixes.
We’d like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all of our closed beta participants for their valuable feedback, and to our Arcade community for your ongoing support and insights around improving City Town. We’re committed to bringing City Town to all platforms as soon as it’s ready.

<@&1342409646178308106> Hi everyone — we wanted to clarify the situation around the Switch1 – Switch2 multiplayer compatibility, since we didn’t communicate this as clearly as we should have earlier. This has been a complex issue with several contributing factors, and we want to walk you through what happened.
Earlier this year, we began exploring a version of the game for Switch 2. Our goal was to take advantage of the newer hardware and offer an enhanced experience for players who wanted it. This work was never intended to affect compatibility with the original Switch.
However, we discovered that releasing on Switch 2 requires upgrading the game to a newer version of Unity. Ideally, we would upgrade both Switch versions at the same time to keep them fully compatible. The challenge is that the original Switch is already extremely tight on memory — something many of you have seen firsthand through recent crashes. We’ve made improvements in the latest patch, and we hope those are helping, but the platform still has very little headroom.
Upgrading Unity alone — even with no other changes — significantly increases memory usage across the board. Right now, that increase isn’t sustainable on Switch 1. Our focus is on continuing to optimize memory so the game can run more comfortably on the platform and eventually give us enough margin to perform the engine upgrade needed to restore cross-play.
Why did cross-play work before, and why did it break now?
The latest patch is the first time the game runs on two separate versions: one for Switch 1 and one for Switch 2. Up until now, both platforms were running the exact same build, which preserved compatibility — but also prevented us from offering enhanced features on Switch 2.

Currently, Nintendo Switch users are expected to receive the update in late November / early December. Steam and PlayStation 5 users are expected to receive CU4 in late November (mid next week).
CU4 will bring all platforms up to the Friendship Island content through 2.11, introducing new quests, adorable visitors, dreamy furniture, and even the debut of amphibian avatars!

For the players who were unable to load into the game after the accidental update, the new build will restore your prior save file from before the update. Hello, friends!
**We want to talk about our future roadmap. **
Since we launched Hello Kitty Island Adventure, our industry has gone through extraordinary changes, as has our company, our partnerships, and of course the game itself. The rapid pace of change meant long-term planning and commitments were always in flux, which limited our ability to share what was upcoming.
Things are starting to settle as HKIA enters its fourth (!!!) year this July, and we’re excited to share what’s on the horizon!
City Town - April 16
First, we’re excited to share that City Town will be releasing April 16th for $24.99 USD. City Town includes a huge amount of content released over almost two years on Arcade, with substantial rework to bring it to other platforms. Its development pattern and schedule was necessary at the time, but had significant drawbacks for us and the community, and we won’t be developing paid content in the same way again. Similar character-driven DLC in the future will look much more like Wheatflour Wonderland in terms of development schedule and release.
Next Major Update
Players can expect the next major update after City Town to be free and released around Fall 2026. That’s because our strategy for 2026 has shifted to focus on strengthening and expanding core gameplay: the exploration, adventure, customization, and friendship that drives the game. We don’t want that core gameplay update to be behind a paywall. Content Updates will continue regularly in between major updates.
Content Packs
That said, we do want to continue to deliver optional value that players feel good about paying for and that can support the game’s ongoing development, so we’ll be experimenting with smaller paid content packs that contain themed furniture, quests, foods, character outfits, and more. Think of these as mini DLCs around a specific theme. As always, this will be included in the subscription for Apple Arcade players. Expect the first content pack this summer!
Other DLC???
We loved working on Wheatflour Wonderland and bringing Cogimyun to life. We may do these self-contained paid DLCs again in the future, but we’re focusing on other types of content and development in 2026.

- Moving forward, major paid updates won’t be staggered across platforms again (like City Town was)
- 🏘️ Free major update coming in Fall 2026 that will evolve and expand core gameplay
- 🫖 First paid content pack (Mini DLC!) is coming in Summer 2026
