You didn't miss anything neccessarily, it's a bit confusing, admittedly. Video and audio are considered premium features, all apps subscribers can try these new premium features, and have the option to purchase a separate firefly subscription to fully use them. You can find all of the details here but it's a long read https://helpx.adobe.com/firefly/get-set-up/learn-the-basics/generative-credits-faq.html . Also see this message from the team #community-chat message they're aware of user frustrations, so we're just asking for patience as we see if anything changes.

I don't know about that. Sora is 20 dollars a month for 720p at 5 seconds. 1,000 credits per month. it still has its problems. Runway charges 12 dollars a month for its most basic program and they also have problems(but honestly a lot of fun stuff too I wish Adobe would pursue), Kling is the same. All of these other text to video models are also in this land of "figuring it out" and not with out their own particular obstacles. Call it Beta... Early Access.. whatever.

We won't be encouraging mentions of pirating, apart from not being appreciated on the official server there are many factors for which we wouldn't recommend it. Yes, as you figured it is a separate subscription as those are Premium features. Currently there are two complementary runs of GenVideo that Creative Cloud users have, team is considering expanding the amount please stay tuned for updated.

Very disappointed with the Firefly video rollout! After being on the wait list for a very long time, I finally received an email saying I'm in, only to get a couple tries before getting a “Give us more money” message. Firefly has become an integral part of the Adobe Suite and now it's subdivided into “Premium” and basic, or whatever, and loyal, paying users are not qualify for Premium access? We don't want complementary runs! We want Firefly to remain in our subscription! What next, Photoshop will suddenly get “premium” features that we must pay extra for? We were sold on Firefly as Adode’s Gen AI program, that would only get better and better with more Gen AI features as time went on. Now you are changing the terms and pretending like we should be happy about it. Nothing about this is right and there are too many alternatives out there for us to just swallow it. This is how you will lose your customer base.

See how this is worded? “New features for Adibe Firefly.” This is how Firefly has been presented from the outset, as Adobe’s Gen AI program that will only grow in features. If we accept this “Premium” features garbage then it will never stop! Photoshop, Premier, Illustrator, etc. will all have Premium features in time and there will be no point in having a subscription because Adobe will keep changing the terms of what a subscription covers.

It is in the nature of the matter that one does not simply throw out statements that are not true. The fact that you then interpret this as promotion is irrelevant to the actual criticism. Either one criticizes a service for its shortcomings and substantiates it, or one refrains from doing so. In my case, the criticism is therefore justified.
Furthermore, I'm not so foolish as to not understand that your stance toward competitors is negative by default. But that's not my fault.

There wasn't an Aldus Illustrator. Adobe made PostScript and then Illustrator. They purchased Aldus and Macromedia later. :)

I knew they purchased it. And it was (at the time) only for Macintosh in the day, because Macs were the designers and PC was the 'boring business' computer. LOL

Windows had the apps too when Windows 3.1 for Workgroups was rolled out. I used Photoshop on both platforms as a youngster. :)

Is there a specific workflow you’re interested in? I don’t know a lot of videos but there’s some main workflows I’ve seen:

  • Editing images with generative fill in Photoshop. For me this is especially useful removing branches or ugly traffic signs. It can also be used to remove distractions such as people in a tourist spot or in the street. With generative fill in Photoshop it’s important to enhance the results with the button on the specific result you want to keep to get the best quality. You can also use cmd/ctrl+e to merge the generative layer to an empty one to decrease the Photoshop file size.

  • Creating montages with generative image and fill. Generate image in Photoshop is most useful to create backgrounds, while fill is for creating details and smaller changes to the image.

  • You can generate images in InDesign both as finished images or as placeholders.

  • Create 3D art in Neo, then use the integrated Firefly to bring it to life. This can be useful to create a composition, fex. If you want a specific looking house.

  • I haven’t gotten around to test it out yet, but on the website you can upload a video in one language and have it translated. This translates the audio.

  • Also on the website you can use some predefined avatars and type in what you want them to say. Theres some issues with how real it looks and the cutout of the avatars to the background.

  • In premier pro beta (not sure if its yet in the regular version) you can extend clips up to 5 seconds to get more video if needed. You can also create B-roll on the website.

This where just some examples, feel free to share more what you’re working with so it’s easier to guide you in the right direction. There’s also streams in this discord every Monday to Thursday at 5pm CET, and @cold moss and @arctic meadow are usually up to taking suggestions for themes to cover 😄

really interesting, you can tell that it kept the main elements on the composition references, but included the colors and textures in the style reference, even adding a creature overtop to the new generated image

I've tried it. It may work. Its hit or miss unfortunately like most video prompting. But that's the only way to extend a video at this point.

I’ve had cases where using the last frame of the 5 second generation and trying to use that going forward for another 5 seconds gets the generation wrong. This mostly happens with simulation type cases where I’m asking Firefly to create water or some such though.

I use Adobe tools for all my digital graphics, and I’ve fully embraced Firefly for my artwork. As someone from a programming background, I find it’s an incredible tool because sometimes words can describe an image much better than my untrained hand can draw it.

While I’m still relatively new to AI image generation as a whole, I’ve been experimenting enough that I’m now confident in making it a core part of my development system.
