hello! i'm a total noob to wow. just subbed after my brother recommended I get it (wow TBC to be specific but they're all included so i tried them all) and I also have a character on the regular wow. I find that the loot drops are much more exciting in TBC for my lvl 10 hunter (f.ex. I get armor pieces with stats of 20, 30+ armor) than the regular one where the drops are just armor 4, 5 for my lvl 19 rogue. Are the loot drops really that different from the versions or do I just have better luck for my hunter? What's with the super low stats in regular compared to TBC?

seems like as a diablo fan, the TBC version is more exciting

Retail early levels are a mess, too many level and item squishes did that to them 😂

That's the thing about Classic--unless they announce that they're doing an expansion, the content that exists is basically the content you can expect, whereas retail has all of the previous expansions as well as continued content

As it stands, Classic and TBC Classic already come included with a subscription or active gametime for retail and retail is the only version that has major cross-game bonuses and unlockables with other Blizzard games, and being able to redeem WoW tokens for gametime OR $15 balance into your Blizzard account gives it a massive perk. I've literally bought other games and content for other games basically with just gold from retail WoW

So there's really no reason not to play retail

Look up Nobbel87 on youtube for a lore recap and everything else on wowpedia articles. You can also play all of the TBC through the current expansion on retail--either leveling or on a max level character to save even more time

Well the Eastern Plaguelands is heavily phased due to different questing stages. Either you're trying to enter a zone with a quest and it's changing, or you're trying to enter the zone without the appropriate quest and it's phasing

The questing for the Eastern Plaguelands starts on the western edge by the bridge with Fiona. As you do the questline for the zone, Fiona and the gang gradually travel through the zone. If you haven't done the questing before Light's Hope Chapel she won't be there. If you haven't done the questing at the tower before that, she'll be at the previous tower, etc etc

Well a ton have changed between then and now. Leveling isn't very complex so I'd just advise you just ask us when you're confused.

Complete Exile's Reach, do Boralus/Zandalar from 10-50, proceed in the Shadowlands campaign while leveling up with sidequests when you can't find the next quests, then stuff really branches out

You're fine as long as you're pretty much always questing

There is so much complexity at max level compared to during leveling

Leveling's really more of a tutorial

Might be ia good idea to start in a really high pop server

You loot and if you dont get loot you dont get loot. If your mates get something you could use tho you could ask them to trade it to you. Tokens also exist but not in the most recent raid afaik... correct me if im wrong on this.

There is the weekly vault tho which can give you one sick item every week. you get more items unlocked to choose from the more of the requirements you meet.

You can unlock item "slots" by doing raids, mythic+ dungeons and pvp. The best gear is usually from mythic+ dungeons the higher the keys you ran the better the items you get

I have yet to hit any toxicity. While you're leveling your first character you probably wont interact with anyone, unless you are leveling/playing with a friend. But for more of the multiplayer content there is very little toxicity. I cant speak for more competitve content like ranked stuff.

The mechanics will definetly be explained. They leave the more complicated stuff like classes, specs, and raiding/pvp up to you. So there's that.

There is a free trial kinda thing for the game. You get access to everything from level 0-20, anything beyond that is locked from what the description says.

There is no starter edition nor separate downloads. When you make your acc and download the game, it will install the full game. Then, it is free to play up to lvl 20. From there, you must have an active subscription/game time to lvl to 50. If you want to play the newest content, Shadowlands, you have to buy it separately. LFR only shows dungeons for which you are in the correct level bracket, to run ones you are overleveld for you can simply enter them through their normal entracnes

Also, if you run old dungeons for which you are at least 11 levels higher than their level cap (except for Legion for which it triggers at level 50 despite that being only 5 levels above) you will trigger the legacy loot system which means that you will get full loot even if running on your own
