It's not really about which expansion you are playing. More like which map you want to gather on.
If you never bought one you can go to every single expansions map besides Dragonflight.
So if you want to use gathermate while on the Wotlk map you gotta import data for that.
But outside of just doing it for fun it's probably not really worth it to farm noncurrent expansions materials.

Probably yes, the sad thing that this late in the expansion even farming on the Dragon Isles doesn't make you much gold.
There are always some exceptions where old expansion stuff is sought after, but it's a good rule of thumb that the current expansion stuff is worth the most.

Sure :) If you plan to continue playing it's still a good thing to at least gather on the Dragon Isles a bit, because it has a newer profession system and it's a good thing to learn about it.
Also each expansion has it's own 0-100 skill thing, so collecting in Northrend only helps you skill up the Wotlk skill.

I did LFR last night after coming bak to WoW from a long break. In my last wing of LFR I won 2 pieces of gear from the last boss but 2 others didn't roll on that gear (I rolled a 92 and 100) however, it just sat there, greyed out text with the 2 loading dots next to it). There are many factors, if you really did your best to follow the guide and still think you are underperforming you'd have to post logs. The Mage class discord would be best for that.

The priority of your abilities stays pretty much the same m+ or not. If you need help with learning to tank it's probably good to watch or read a tanking guide that's not class specific.
Spec guides are basically there to tell you how to play that spec not how to play your role.
Also boosting is always confusing moreso when it's a spec and even role you never played.

So, basically. Whenever a "shard" is full, another one gets created and you get moved into it, not sure how the tech really works from the back end but it just moves players to a empty shard and fills it up, meaning npc's will vanish and look like they "reset" but in reality you got moved to another "Timeline"
By design, players usually do not notice when the game moves them between shards, but players may notice NPCs momentarily disappear.

While my problem is basically the complete opposite from yours (permanent damage in my left hand), I've still done a lot to look into ways to do more with my left hand on the keyboard so I can still get as much use as possible out of it. The recent Action Targeting and Interact Key features have done a lot to cut down on what my left hand has to do, letting it operate more keys. If you steer with WASD, that should help a lot

i hope you're using a leveling guide. they will tell you what to craft and then you can just look up where the ore you need is spawning. Wowhead usually has a map with spawn nodes for the ore and you just pick of of those zones and go at it

i had the same problem in shadowlands campaign, took me ages to figure it out.

its during the transition period theres some sort of disconnect which is related to that specific setting

if i reconnect enough it keeps me in, last time it spawned my in a cave across the map

during shadowlands campaign when you transition into being uther and figthing arthas the exact same thing happens. you press the mirror in shadowlands, loading screen, disconnect, relog, youre falling from space in eastern kingdom arathi highlands and start falling to death
and to top it off the quest bugs out

no they stay same speed as long as you have ground mounts unlocked
if you cant use ground mounts you cant use water mounts. they just unlock at level 10 and stay the same

not really no, theres buffs/food/potions which make you swim faster.. thats about it. if you dont like falling in water get the inflated horseshoes for waterwalking on your mount when out of combat

those low populated servers suck especially for guild finding
get like a orange/medium server.
on reds/full servers you might encounter que times.
