It's all the same system, just a different name. If your account was over 7 years old and inactive it was deleted. I assume you're being prompted to create an account or choose a username. If you believe you have an existing account, reach out to [e-mail] with the email/username you believe you had. I'll look into it for you and confirm if anything still exists.

So i dont mean to shake up trouble, but i feel like something needs to be done that isnt.

The wowhead server is a mess. The only real mod interaction we get is the occasional random interjection, or when we ping you.

I cannot tell you how many regulars have just stopped talking or have left because of a rampant lack of any actual moderation to the server. Nobody enforces channel roles, nobody even talks regularly, and people just do whatever they want because of it.

I dont know what needs to be done, that isnt my responsibility, but i feel it is my responsibility to inform the people who can when its looking pretty bad. I hope you understand, i enjoy this server and i want to see it flourish. Thank you for reading.

We've discussed this internally among moderators and staff and we stand by our previous opinion of moderating in the Discord being more than adequate. You can read my previous response here: #wowhead-feedback-support message

The opinion is the same. If you see something that is rule breaking, mod ping. You can alternatively DM a mod, however we can't guarantee that mod is there, so it's better to ping. Between Uchur and I, we cover a 24 hour peroid fairly well.

Furthermore, it is absolutely fine for moderators to choose not to actively participate in discussions regularly. It allows us to remain impartial and moderate unbiasedly. A lot of the things you are describing are just that of which come with a large discord server, such as people going off-topic. I don't really know what you mean by "nobody really talks" as there is plenty of chatter, we have a chat rate of about 3-5% which is normal for a Discord of this size.

The current guide omits two Shadowbolt casts between First Hand of Gul'dan and Call Dreadstalkers. Not only does this make it unclear where the two extra soul shards came from, but it is also a much tighter window (without Dreadstalkers proc) to get your second Hand of Gul'dan cast off from Demonic Tyrant.

*When I say tight, I mean litterally down to 0.1s or expired on Grimoire: Felguard

In fact, I think that if you don't get any Demonic Core procs or Dreadstalker procs, this rotation is impossible (6 imp, Grimoire Felguard, Dreadstalker, Vilefiend all for Demonic Tyrant)

I've tried it a number of times on dummy and I can't get all of it without relying on a proc.

For the World Quest "It's Race Day in the Ramparts!" at Revendreth, I found out (I guess it is known, but not widely known, I think ), that in war mode OFF (I dont know what is happening on war mode ON) you can "sabotage" the WQ of the enemy Faction by killing their Dredger/Cart Holder.

Correct. It was no longer possible to keep it accurate or up to date due to scaling and the various other changes Blizzard has made to items in the past two expansions. Classic is simpler, and therefore it lives on there.

The fact that all the comments went into yet another tirade about whether Overwolf is evil or not was inherently off-topic. It'd be like arguing about Twitch being evil if we shared an overlay extension that's beneficial to WoW players.

That idea has been discussed numerous times over the years. It would be expensive and borderline impossible with the sheer amount of information on our website. Monetization would be difficult, even if we restrict it to subscribers, our Premium prices are far too low to offset costs that would be associated with maintaining an app (especially if it's also available on iOS). If we decided to push through with a more streamlined application, assuming we somehow overcome the monetization issue, deciding what would or would not be included would be tedious and certain to make some people unhappy that we didn't include this or that tool/feature. There's security and privacy issues we'd have to work out as well for an app.

Ultimately we've decided that the best use of our resources is to do our best to provide a usable mobile browsing experience. It'll never be perfect, but we do our best under the circumstances.

But apparently Overwolf just refuses to actually launch at all now

And upon looking it up, the issue was that Overwolf + Windows Insider = mysterious bans

This isn't fully a wowhead question, but I've got no clue where else to ask.

I'm looking to import the information of every Runecarving Power into a spreadsheet. My initial thought was to use the game data API or wowhead's tooltips tool.

I cannot use the game data API because it seems to have no info on Runecarving Powers? Not in the Journal API, Spell API, Item API. I could be looking in the wrong places?

I cannot use Wowhead tooltips because it seems not possible to get them to work in a Google Sheets or Excel spreadsheet after some searching. Maybe I could deobfucsate and edit the script to get some of the base info (name, description, source, item slots) before it's made into a tooltip? If that's possible I probably can't do it anyway.

It's important to note the distinction between item and power. I can get info on an item from the API, but that's no good. I want the power information. Pic below shows the difference.

Hi, the Classic Hunter guide is quite poorly made, in some cases having wrong information and equipment options that are not up to date with the current theorycrafting.

You should remove it or correct it completely

For example:
-The best alcohol is Rumsey Rum Black Label giving +15 stam.(instead of 10 wich is the one that appears here)
-You can get the first one in Dire Maul North, not in Dire Maul East.
-Winterfall Firewater and Juju of Power are not hunter consumables, they dont provide ranged attack power.
-Juju of Power neither increases ranged attack power.

We can only display so many... since pretty much every ilvl is possible now. You can manually adjust the "bonus" part in the URL up/down by the number of ilvls you want to increase/decrease to manually reach the # you want (as I linked above).

It's on our "wish list" when priorities and time permits (I envision just being able to type in a ilvl to display it, but our item version filters aren't designed for inputs like that and would require some work to allow).

I simply provided a candid response here, some people tend to appreciate that, even if it's not what they want to hear.

This is something I can agree with. I can see how this would be demoralising yes I agree that you should support the content you consume. I don't think "refusing to buy a Premium subscription" belongs in the same category as adblocking the site, though. It's different being able to support a site by running their ads versus having a disposable income to give to a creator(s) you enjoy.

As a consumer, I have a very different viewpoint to what the creator sees themselves. I'm sure that you see what I write as not being grateful for what's already been done, because I didn't mention it. That's what the first response suggests to me; as a consumer providing feedback. As a creator, you mightn't see it that way. You might see it as "We've put in all this work, why does no one appreciate it?". But just because the majority of the users don't mention what's gone into it already, doesn't mean they don't appreciate it. They, like me, pick something to focus on, and focus on that one thing to get their point across.

I don't really get the resistance to more filters, either.
Simply adding in #art, #cosmetic, #guide-update etc. to the bottom of articles somewhere and adding a filter for that isn't a big job.
It seems weird to have this much resistance to an idea so ... uncontroversial.

I know your standpoint on this is firm and it's extremely unlikely to change, but it's definitely an odd one to have such hard resistance to.

The main thing that we have with this is, we have already spent countless developing hours on things like more categories, a news webhook, and webhooks that branch out to all these news. But its exactly what Sas said before, we have already catered to people in the past when it comes to that and it never seems to be enough. We could rethink our stance in the future, but for now there are more important development actions that need to be done on the site (and we believe are more important long-term) instead of messing up with the news tags yet again, especially now that we have Classic Burning Crusade on the horizon.

Hopefully in the future we can revisit the idea, but as of now, it won't happen, i'm afraid 😦

Surely you can see the issue. Youre just going to keep getting more feedback about this because more and more news is going to keep coming in. More and more news thats going to be harder and harder to filter out.

As a developer I can understand your sense of frustration. Though I would like to approach this from a different perspective.

As far as the main site goes, when you guys first added the category filters they were great. You could target subjects you were not interested in very very easily.

The problem (from my perspective) is that since that implementation, the scope of content WoWhead includes has grown significantly, which by all means is a good thing, but the tagging system has not kept up with that expansion, with a very noticeable amount of articles being only tangentially related to the tag they're assigned.

A recent example of this would be the lip sync app post. It's a "Live" tag and while it is tangentially related because most of the videos within use current/recent models. It's not necessarily news about the live game, a "community" tag would be really appropriate for a post like this. Not just for filtering, but for easier context when scrolling through the feed.

While I do have frequent critiques of the site and its design, I am and have been a premium user for many years, and would even pay more than I do now for my subscription if it meant we could have a level of control over the news feed that more appropriately matches the breadth of content that WoWhead posts (by necessity) since the original categories and filters were made.

Especially since the Warcraft franchise is continuing to grow (TBC, the mobile titles upcoming) and this means there will be more for WoWhead to cover.

Does anyone know how the Wowhead client collects data for drop rates of items that can appear twice on a boss? Such as weapons from Kel'Thuzad? For example, I've noticed a large disparity between the drop rates of Kingsfall between AtlasLoot and Wowhead (21.7% and 14.33% respectively), but as far as I know both systems use the same method (gathering large amounts of data from their addon users). Is there anyone around that knows more that could shed some light on this for me?

The webhooks don't have information on what other webhook have posted already, they can't read the channel they are on. They are very dumb bots, all they do is send a message to everyone that subscribes to them.

The big question is why do you have all three specialized webhooks in a channel instead of just having the one webhook that cover all news?

This is abit of a rant but also feedback on the way the discord webhooks are managed/handled; Why haven't articles like these(listed below) categorized differently, obviously these are extremely niche achievements which should be displayed as such; while I enjoy the news wowhead puts out and the speed which the authors create the articles, these really do not belong on the same stream/category as content patches / bug fixes / weekly announcements.

This leads to my question of why is there not more freedom of the webhooks you can pick from and why isn't there better categorization of articles for which you can filter out what you want to view. ie If I only want to see content updates/patches/bug fixes why am I being shown these extremely niche achievements which I have to sort through or get discord notifications which aren't what I'm after?

They've had many responses previously that they don't want to add a "community" filter before because of the amount of work involved in doing so for little benefit, but I know Sas also said it would be brought up internally again after the last discussion. If you do a search for "filter" in #wowhead-feedback-support you'll find the previous discussion, though it gets brought up once a month or so.

As far as "why", it's because it's a lot of dev time and cost involved. Wowhead already allows us a huge amount of customization to the webhooks and news filters. More than any other fan site I'm aware of. Rather than asking "why is this not an option" which feels extremely entitled, consider asking "are there plans to add this" or "is it possible for this to be added to the dev pipeline".

If you want something, being rude and ranty ain't the way to get it.

Oh, any items that are flagged as not available to players aren't included in searches/database results. Yes, they exist if you search Google (the pages are still indexed) but it doesn't make sense to include these sort of items in searches since most people doing the searches will want to find relevant/useable items.

I have added it as an exception and submitted it as a false positive. I wanted to note it here incase others may be experiencing this same issue.

We're aware of that. I've already asked Avast to do a review but so far nothing has changed. There's definitely no malware or virus in the Wowhead_Client.exe, but these false positives pop up on occasion after some client updates that download automatically upon opening.

windows defender found a trojan virus this morning. Trojan:Win32/Bomitag.D!ml in the wowhead_client.exe "This program is dangerous and executes commands from an attacker." I recall that a wowhead software update was installed in the last day or two. i assume it came from that.

This is not the first item I've encountered that wasn't listen correctly on Wowhead, however I forgot the other item names.

No. The table doesn't include the additional nature damage. The table only looks at the weapon speed/weapon damage. The tooltip is accounting for that and the nature damage.

Fair enough, but it's a very odd decision to do it that way. Why not make the weapon DMG the same as on the tooltip? It's very confusing to everyone I talked about it to see TF listed below in terms of weapon DPS than some random blues

To clarify things: the PTR webhook is just for retail PTR. There will not be classic or tbc PTR news found there. You should select the classic or tbc news channels if you want to see PTR legacy updates.

As a newcomer to the game, well not really, I played the game in legion and bfa 200-300 hrs each expansion, how would I go about seriously diving into this game and its community? When I play a game I generally want to know as much as possible about its world and in WoW theres A LOT to take in as a newcomer. What would you recommend for me, vanilla or retail? Is it too late starting in retail now? Is it too late starting playing this game now? What's the player count demographic of vanilla compared to retail? Are they similar in terms of player count? We didn't receive enough data for NA today to display anything for Star Lake Amphitheater, we did for EU though, which is showing Dreamweaver, As N'Zoth. We rely on the community to upload data via the Wowhead Client to populate most of the information you see on Today in WoW. If not enough players have submitted data that contained today's NA Star Lake Amphitheater then we don't display anything at all, until we do. This obviously can vary day-to-day.

when i first downloaded the wowhead uploader it automatically ran and set up out of my downloads directory. when i moved the .exe file to a tidier directory, the uploader no longer launches when i boot up windows. any idea how to fix this?

it kinda looks like some association has been broken, even though everything is contained within the .exe file? i can't "open file location" for this on the list of windows startup programs

I have no idea what a tidier directory is, I'd just suggest putting it back in a more typical(?) place. Like your desktop or a documents folder?

System can't find the file in designated directory so it won't launch the application. You changed the path to executable by moving .exe file. Typically everything should work once you put file back in previous place.

I'd suggest to take a look at HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run key in registry and change the path to current location of Wowhead Client.
