Is this the case will every area/expansion I will complete? Or is bfa exceptionally bad?

only bfa as it is a "recent" expansion and somehow blizzard said it's also a starting zone

for example flying in shadowlands is much easier you just need to complete chapter 4 of the expansion storyline

for legion and previous expacks you can fly right away

I don't know what to recommend, I don't think chromie is available until you have a level 60 character

cuz otherwise you could start at legion or any other expack you want, if you're tired of running I'd recommend legion as it's a nice expack and you can fly

Wrath of the Lich King Classic does have something Retail doesn't, though, that being pre-Cataclysm versions of the Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor. So, definitely play both if you want to, they're on the same subscription. 🙂

When you get human horse mounts, you unlock orc wolf mounts. When you get 7th Legion armors, you get Honorbound armors. If you get Horde pvp sets, you get Alliance pvp sets, etc

Don't have your first character be a death knight, demon hunter, or evoker; start in the Exile's Reach starting tutorial zone and pay attention to the quests that you're given and read all of the tutorials and tooltips; don't waste gold buying gear while leveling; ask for help in #wow-help or in the in-game Newcomer Chat; don't be a dick; try out different races, classes, and specs until you find something that you personally enjoy playing the most; read up on guides on wowhead.com

All race, class, and spec combinations are viable for all forms of content and the best one is going to be the one you're better at playing and enjoy the most.

Metas are always too situational and incredibly circumstantial, mean nothing for the content you're engaging with as a new player, and change from patch to patch

I recommend you look at the #wow-help channel and read the channel pins first, to see if any of your other questions are already answered
