If you were to crop a song down to a 10 second clip, then extend that clip with a completely different genre, does it still have "knowledge" of the original song outside of that crop?

For example, a heavy metal song with a piano solo. If you crop 10 seconds from the piano solo and extend a new song out of it with a new genre, would that have a different effect than uploading a 10 second wav file of that piano solo and extending it?

When you extend, it should only "hear" what you could listen to in the clip you are extending. So if you've cropped something, it wouldn't be able to "hear" the stuff you cropped out.

Additionally if you set an "extend time", anything beyond that time won't be used either (an extend effectively does an automatic crop of the end of the clip.)

You got what I was saying, but there's also this subtle detail which can be very useful: If you extend an extension from e.g. 30 seconds, Suno won't look back at earlier parts and will only use those 30 seconds as context. You can make it deliberately forget earlier parts by doing this. Then you can "Get Whole Song" to make a new clip that combines it all. Extending that will allow it to hear further back.

I think the context is around 2 minutes or so? Since extensions are up to 2 minutes and part 1 is up to 4 minutes it's probably reserving half of the time as somewhere to store the "context" (this is a guess though.)

It's been quite effective for things I've been doing, though I do notice that Suno does have a tendency to want to work in segments spanning a few bars (so it's hard to push it off the rails at unusual points.) So it can take a little while for it to actually adapt to the new prompt, in the meantime it seems very good at just continuing with whatever it was doing before.

Similar to when Suno ends a song, you have to go back quite a way sometimes to make it forget that it was wrapping things up.

No, this is just the way the Personas are set up in the beta phase. At the moment, you can't combine Personas with other features, like Extend, etc.

Personas can only be used to create new tracks -- that said, you can upload your instrumental song & use "Cover" to hear it reimagined in different musical styles, or you can create a persona based on your instrumental upload to use that instrumental style for other new tracks.

Usually I extend in the middle of a verse or a bridge (second or third line), so that the AI can "remember" what it did with that part. Some gens go astray but mostly it works (for me). Sometimes it's tricky to choose the right time slot, it's best when it starts exactly at the beginning of the time stamp.

You can certainly generate songs without drums, even generate what sounds like a pure vocal stem, so I bet this is possible but probably not easy to do reliably. If you just want to play along, using good stem seperation software like UVR should be able to remove the drum track well enough I think.

Try downloading the original audio file and use an external stem splitter such as UVR, or an online service dedicated for that task. Suno's stem splitter is in early stages so doesn't give the best results. It's mostly useful if you want to split and then do further work within Suno on one of the stems.

I've found more luck swapping to v3 to extend where I want the song to wrap up, and using end as the sole style prompt -- while this brings the song quality down to v3, you can remaster it to smooth it all over after the fact.

• Saying you "go hard or go home" has no relevance on why Suno sucks
• Your "tool" may be outdated because they changed the way the AI works. this is normal in any dev cycle and is usually done to stop people making "hacks" to get the software to do what they want or to just improve backend stuff. you may have found a "backdoor" or something like that and I'd bet the team wasn't even aware. it was probably a fix they did that made your tool useless.

That seems reasonable for the "Style of music", but it would likely be ignored or sung as lyrics if used as a metatag -- as noted in the image I shared, 3~5 words seems to be a safe max, though there isn't a hard limit, just how much you're asking the AI to juggle all at once

When you remaster, I find it's crucial to use the "Edit Song" section to correct & align the lyrics -- remaster adheres to the lyrics very closely.

It might just be unneccesary habit at this point, but I "realign" the lyrics for almost every track I remaster.

That's crucial as well, with Replace tool, as a reminder. Otherwise, you really can't use the tool to its advantage. Therefore the "edit song details" tab is in the tool to make sure the lyrics that it's singing are in sync with the lyrics that are to be worked on.

Suno just cuts my lyrics off, ive uses "metatags" as advised by people, but doesnt work. Hello, I've got another issue I need some help with. I need to find out how to make my words not be jumbled up and instead follow the Melody. For example if the first line is 8 seconds long there will be 3 Seconds of singing and 5 Seconds of instrumental whereas I would rather it be the whole eight seconds of it singing the lyrics. Is there a prompt or some formatting or anything that I can do? I'm editing a song and the original was fine but it had some incorrect lyrics. Well let's learn I'm not working on this anymore. I've just canceled my subscription. Emailing them will probably result in not having any access to anything and being told that I'm just out of luck completely. That's usually how things go for me. It sounds like you’re at a bit of a low point, but the team has been able to help with this kind of matter — they’re just dealing with a higher-than-normal ticket volume.

You absolutely can go back and rework on your songs, and you can ask for permission to use earlier songs commercially.

It might feel pointless right now, but I’ve yet to see a single instance where someone’s request for commercial rights has been denied (provided they’re an active subscriber at the time).

My Suno is bugged. It's definitely not generating songs in V4, even with V4 enabled and cutting the songs in the middle. Horrible songs with short duration. It's probably happening because I generated a lot of music in a short period of time. But there's no rule that you can't do this. I waited almost the whole month to put credits to put new songs on YouTube. If by tomorrow this bug hasn't disappeared and my credits returned, from the songs that were generated with a bug, I'm going to fill YouTube with the horrible songs that Suno is making for people who pay for the Pro Plan. And the videos will be very explanatory. I'm frustrated and feel cheated. I have 1600 more credits to make 1600 horrible songs to make 1600 very explanatory videos, recording the screen generating the songs. It should have a good audience, right. I can create a new channel.

A rollback suggests there was a previous state, then a change was made, and they reverted to an earlier version -- from everything we've been shown reasonably demonstrated or outright communicated from the developers/staff, it's been forward progress the entire time, nothing was rolled back.

But I've been prone to forgetfulness -- if anyone has reference to a rollback, please share 🙏

Ahh, my bad -- re: @frosty arch, there's a very easy way to check which model your songs are made with (as well as what extensions were used to make the final track)

That said -- even if it's on v4, what we use as input is the biggest determining factor on Suno's output. For instance, someone was trying to control the vocal levels by using -3 to 6 db vocals, and I found using that in the style prompt resulted in bugged generations, as shown below.

Unfortunately you can't highlight multiple sections with Replace Section, but if the vocals are sung similarly, you might be able to replace one of them and edit it in post if you isolate the vocals? (unless keeping the song on Suno is a requirement / a nice-to-have)

Using the spectrographic view in audacity makes it a lot easier to copy and paste by specific beats, rather than flagrant guesswork like I fight myself against every time

I usually don't lean on Replace Section due to a rocky start in alpha, but I'm sincerely impressed with how it handled replacing a 10 second segment when I used it tonight, blended in perfectly.

Yea. That's what I thought. I'll try on a song sometime and just replace a word every couple of stanzas. The Fold 5, I cant highlight with finger, or move the highlight with finger, so I have to use the time meters for everything.

I've had no success with Replace recently, whereas I did it a ton in v3.5 with fantastic results.

That said, I think that Replace is always the best option when you have multiple edits, even to the same part, because no singer actually sings the part the exact same way every single time. There's always nuance even if it's very close. It just takes a ton of credits. It depends on what you're looking for...and with Replace acting as it has been, if you can get it to work once, it's a good idea to stick with it.

I don't understand the language outright, but within the first minute of the song, I really found myself enjoying the style and composition of the song.

It clearly degrades very quickly leading up to the 1m mark, and it gets more pronounced afterward, but would you agree that the song starts off almost with a "radio crackle" type sound? I personally use that style prompt very often because it's a sound that I want to affect in my songs, but it becomes a problem when it goes out of control -- this is what it sounds like might have happened with this track -- the once-enjoyable vinyl crackle from an old disco album gets mistaken and amplified.

While "shimmer" used to be the community's leading issue, I would argue that this "progressive hiss" is more frequent in my songs -- but not in all of them.

I genuinely enjoy the song, as I grew up watching movies about Richie Valens on constant repeat 😅 With your permission, I'd like to see if I'm able to make any progress with remastering -- I'll send you the finished result, as it's your song, after all 🙂

There's a definite range in EQs and qualities I've run into -- occasionally I'll get the type of treble/hiss right off the bat, but I'd say the larger amount of songs start off phenomenally, and it's a matter of which ones start to degrade (but you can always keep the earlier sections you love & extend over the sections you dislike)

What's funny is that in my typical genres of varieties of prog rock/stoner rock, Shimmer/Morse Code is still a major problem in v4, but I've literally only had one song do the Sonic Snake/Bass Elimination thing. And even with Morse Code, it comes and goes. Other than Replace being completely broken for me, the key issue with v4 is inconsistency across the board. You just don't know which spot on your Suno bingo card you're going to hit next.

If you're really attached to the content afterward, Replace Section could be used to replace the part you don't like, whereas it'd be easier to just create an extension before 1:29 and taking a second stab at the content afterward (which is why I asked if you were really attached to it, instead of just telling you what I would do).

For the 24 seconds of music the first happy bit, I'd wager it's better to extend over all of it and focus on an extension that starts off strong to continue the parts your originally like -- otherwise you're throwing out the baby with the bathwater for a slot machine pull hoping for a one-shot generation that nails a lot of criteria in one

Well, the initial vocal generation wouldn't necessarily sound anything like after it had gone through the Instrumental generator and the other mystery black boxes, so there still wouldn't be a way of separating it. The initial vocals would get remixed and moved around

Vocals definitely influence how the music gets generated from what I've experienced, and it would also make sense for the instrumental to feed back in to the vocal generation to ensure both "play well" together. They seem inseparable hence why the only stem split is a post-processor...

That said, I got a cover once where Suno moved the first verse of a vocal a few bars earlier so it sung during the intro instead, and brought the delay effect from the vocal with it. No idea how. Everything else was the same.

The problem is the quality and other things. Suno is cutting my songs off halfway or playing the beginning twice. Most of the songs are under 2 minutes long and the voice sounds terrible. It's less melodic. It’s a bug for me. I saw in the chat that other people are experiencing the same problem today.

It would probably be difficult to display as a visual, but yeah. I suspect output 1 and 2 begin separately as just purely vocals and purely instrumental. Both follow all your input as best they can. The vocals are merged and potentially shunted around to fit the instrumental, then it goes off for various processing before they trade the final result again. The last part might not be true at all though

In regards to the "as I watch the rain", I'd posit that this song turned out relatively well! Perhaps I've gotten used to songs ending abruptly, but that had seemingly always been present in the earlier models, but v3 was better at recognizing "end" as a style prompt to prevent an extension from being 2m when you only wanted 15s.

I can understand if there are songs that you get with clearer EQ, but the consistency of this song seems comparable from the beginning to the end, whereas some songs that I would consider "bad sounding" have a noteworthy degradation of audio quality.

That's part of any AI which are called "hallucinations". They are just babbling which phonetically sound like a foreign language, or even your native language is being sung. Occassionally with some words you might recognize. It happens about 10% of the time. Some are fun and entertaining. They could be words, or just noises, laughter, sirens, whatever.

If you know how to take the part out from audio, replace and mix it as it should be, this is not a big issue.

This can be an unprocessed card, bad card, declined payment or just a slow process with accounts.

So, all of that is for Suno account staff to work out. And certainly checking with your bank just to confirm you're paid up on your end. Send off an email to. [e-mail] and make that call first to your bank or card issuer so you have that info to give Suno.

I just found out that the crackle noise can easily be removed in audition by using spectral frequency display and the brush tool, highlight them and just delete. Some crackles I can't remove using RX11 but in audition I managed to just zoom in and delete them manually. I hope this tip help everyone. I am still learning. If there're better way, please share 🙂

On a song I'm working on I'm noticing that I'm burning tons of credits to try and get it to sing the lyrics I wrote for the chorus, but it keeps singing the lyrics of the second chorus no matter what I do.

The Chorus I have is in fact 4 lines long. Which is interesting if that's what causes Suno to repeat more often. Everything that we give to Suno (style of music, exclude style, metatags, lyrics) are interpreted as suggestions that the AI can overlook — the lyrics are typically more strictly adhered to, but there’s factors that can contribute to it “going off track” more than other generations, or cause it to “hallucinate”.

While there’s multiple approaches to completing a song like this, my preferred method is to keep the earlier segments of the song that you enjoy, then create an Extension at the timestamp just before the undesirable parts start (like if there’s wrong lyrics, music isn’t exciting, or you just want to try a different direction).

Absolutely! Extensions were the first feature beyond simply generating a song — I’d wager most of the more complicated songs make liberal use of them.

As for inserting an intro, that’s a bit more tricky and would require some finagling — you’d need to spend a few more credits on a tricksy method involving Replace Section (I can chat about that if you’d be interested).

The issue with simply creating an extra section and prepending it in a DAW would be the audible seam between the two sections.

Both approaches to generating an intro would require use of the Replace Sections feature, but the length of the song that you're working with would determine which is preferable -- the basic idea is to insert a chunk of anything into the beginning of the track (static noise, silence, anything), then use Replace Section to generate and blend at the same time.

The straightforward route is to pad the intro then reupload the track to Suno -- this way you can choose the amount of intro time, but you're limited to 2m uploads, so you'd lose content after the 2m mark (unless you're pasting the tail end back on in your DAW afterward)

The tricksy method is to take advantage of the quirks with Replace Section by replacing the first 10 seconds & disabling the "match length" toggle, so it could potentially replace the 10 seconds at the beginning with 2m worth of content for you to crop from & iteratively Replace.

If you have a segment from the song that you could feasibly repurpose as an intro, all the better -- but this method could give some wiggle room if you envisioned something that wasn't present in the song to clip out

Is it me or the remastering started to sound less harsher? I've been remastering a few of my V3.5 songs, waiting for the V4 treatment and the harshness seemed to be tamed quite a bit. Still get the shimmer here and there, especially with my chaotic metal songs, but seems like things are starting to pick up a bit. Let me know if any of you hear the same as I do.

Within the genres & prompts I use there’s still the occasional progressive degradation/hiss, very rarely am I running into shimmering now — mind you, certain songs just refuse to budge (I might try cover then remaster to see if that nudges it out of the groove it’s stuck in), and people report issues with subgenres of metal or rock, but it’s more common than a song doesn’t impress me rather than there being an issue with the audio quality, but that’s subjective to me.

I think they compensated by reducing the effect of the EQ at the start of the song. If the song starts with a high clarity, it tends to degrade by getting ear piercingly harsher by the end of the song. So far 6-7 out 10 gens, the songs started with a mild tone and at the end of the songs, they were in a much tamer spectrum of highs, which felt manageable to my ears. Felt like things are going at least in the right direction

The gens begin with a good sound but after 2 minutes the shimmer starts. So, I'm screwed, as I do not songs under four minutes. My shortest are three and a half.
It was getting better for a while, but it seems the shimmer sadly is back with a vengeance. You can't even extend as the extend shimmers even worse than the original track. Today, I'm giving up. Wanted to finish a submission for a contest but I can't send a song that degraded. 😬

Cars before 1973 were powerful and until ,bam, environmental controls were legislated, so improvements on gas efficency took 5 steps back. Sunos been hit with a fake app fiasco it had to deal with, going from like 480P to 1080 P, revealing all the wrinkles we couldn't hear before, as well as other concerns outside of the programing itself.

Sometimes to create a lake you have to dam a river, even if the river rapids were many people's preference. Some freedoms members werre enjoying had to be reigned in.

So then there was this collective bias that it didn't seem anyone could come up with a consistent problem, let alone be able to consistently improve it. It got all lumped under the same label as most just said "Suno is broke".

Sunos improvements like evolution, is consistent, but not the biggest or strongest, it just about surviving. That also means modifying and adapting to both needs and tastes.

This feeling of 3 steps fowards, 2 steps back sometimes is frustrating, but a net forward is always momentum.

Just a perspective, not necessarily the truth.

When you replace a section it will bring you to a new window to select the part you want to replace, and then it will generate two additional stems for you to choose from and mix in. Its functionality is quite different than extending a track. Are you sure that you are extending them?

Eh, one thing I wish Suno would do is make instrumentals so they're cohesive. You can't really make a lot of chorus instrumentals because the music doesn't stay cohesive, like when you add lyrics and tell it to put a chorus line. It just wants to go all over the place. I'm not suggesting it's as easy as I make it sound, as knowing when levels to boost to what level is the crux of the matter, but if you can adjust the equalization of the song you can boost the lower-end of the frequencies, like the sub 300hz range to boost the bass, or use a high pass filter to try to take off some of the high end

Uploaded audio gets added to your library, then you’re able to interact with it like any other Suno generation — extend it, cover it, replace sections, etc.

The only caveat is that uploads are restricted if vocals are detected (even false positives), meaning you can’t make a persona out of them, and a few other smaller restrictions.
