Hi! Is there any mod/scenario currently for smallish, but sandbox PvE experience?
Looking for smth like:
Player faction has a base at start, very low supply regen
Map is completely Red, missions generate with task for players to complete for supplies.
Possible to take over bases, but AI will be able to take back.

Might be feasible on LinearConflict? IPC is not the thing I think. FF is not a sandbox at all I think? Last time checked there were not recapture.
There is actually a russian PvE server like that, but community is RP-milsim so big no, and their mods are locked so can't host their stuff I think

Having the same issue. All ports are open. I also tried hosting a server from the scenarios menu in Reforger. So far, I have tried hosting from the game, using the dedicated server, using Longbow (a dedicated server tool), Hosting from a different PC, and hosting from a linux VM. My router logs will show someone trying to connect but they get the same error you get. 2001, 17777, and 19999 are open and configured correctly and allowed through windows firewall. I tried this with a vanilla scenario as well with a modded one. I can host other services from my PC (such as SVN or a DCS server). Maybe a backend issue??

In Conflict friendly squad leaders are marked by blue squares for US Army, and red diamonds for USSR. However only squad leaders can see other squad leaders markers, squad members will only see their own squad leaders marker iirc. Other than that, ask over the radio

Install No Squad Leader Marker mod. This way everyone can equally see where everyone is on the map, which is nobody 😉 Because it represents a paper map.

Literrally wouldnt believe it if i hadnt witnessed it but during a hq commander game on official server, a guy teleported in the middle of the church in montignac and killed our squad of 3 in less than 2 seconds all this while strafing at the speed of sound from the main door (wich remained closed) to the altar in less than 2 sec. Can a dev or moderator please go observe the very serious troll issue going on with 17516030 us-mi. I use Starlink and it’s the server with the best ping for me and it’s kind of a big deal. I try to report the problem players and vote to kick them but they have several accounts because they play on Xbox. They come in and just tk everyone and deconstruct bases with the sole intention of making it unplayable. Without this server the game is all but unplayable for me. Eventually the problem players give up but they come back frequently. You cannot play for more than 30 minutes without them coming back to ruin the game.

Its because it catering to a console player base. If it were only PC, the developer could issue VAC bans or Hardware bans. Which means the only way of circumventing it would be by replacing physical hardware. But because the cheaters/hackers are likely from console, you can’t issue these bans. Which means they will get banned and just create another profile or account and repeat.

Again, just another reason why it was a mistake to bring Reforger to console.

On PC, your motherboard has a HWID a.k.a. hardware ID. And some anti-cheats read CPU and GPU IDs as well. If you combine all of these ideas, you basically get a sort of digital “fingerprint“. This is how they implement hardware IDs to PC players. But on console, Microsoft and Sony don’t actually give developers access to the true hardware IDs because it’s locked at the OS level. This means it’s controlled by the platform owner. This means the band is implemented at the account or software level which can be circumvented by just creating a new account.

ARMA 3, during its peak which IIRC was 2015ish; had hundreds of servers. In more recent years, its only been a few dozen servers but again - quality not quantity. This is what happens when you try to make a game that caters to everyone: you drag in all the bottom feeders and problematic players also. Just like no players on servers kill a community, so does having enough cheaters.

Hundreds of servers across all regions sure, not for the smaller regions.

Cheaters are a problem that needs to be dealt with, but at the same time more players due to cross play means more people to play on those quality servers.

If Reforger wasn’t crossplay, my region would most likely only have a few official servers and 1-2 modern servers populated, we wouldn’t see any hardcore vanilla plus, vietnam era etc servers

This is a old and outdated mindset. On console you have now software and hardware (controller) cheats, while on PC you have only software cheats. The COD devs had to fight agains a controller manufacture to deal with that.

Reforger is not at all a CoD/BF style shooter, I would say it's not even really similar to Insurgency either. Much more team-oriented and sandbox-y, you can mod it to be whatever kind of game you like but the core vanilla game is relatively slow paced and highly dependent upon your teammates. If you go into Conflict (the main PVP gamemode) looking for a game you can pick up for 30 minutes and just shoot people in you will likely not have a good time

WCS (worst case scenario) is an amazing community for beginners. Easy to understand weapons, attachments, kit making etc. I play WCS a lot. And everyone there will help you if you need it. Just go ask a sgt plus or any high rank that’s in the game, they’ll get you started

Are cheaters able to just spawn behind you and kill you? That's how most of my deaths were Saturday. I'd clear a building someplace where the only noise is ambient noise and my footsteps or just lay down among the trees, and someone would shoot me in the back 2 feet away from a room or trench or something I just cleared. I'm wearing a Corsair Virtuoso headset so I've always been able to hear footsteps around me until every time I was shot in the back at point blank, if not just choose to spawn behind me. this might get a little technical, i'm having some troubles hosting a dedicated server and i'd like some input. scenario: it's a linux server on my homelab that sits on the same network as my pc. it runs fine (no mods for now) but the behaviour for how clients connect feels a little weird and i think it has something to do with the public ip in the server config?

namely, i cannot connect to the server using the homelab's LAN address if public ip is set to my WAN address. however, i can connect to the server from my pc if the public ip is set to its LAN address. also, if the public ip is set to my WAN address then i can connect if i use a vpn on my pc. so it is accessible from the internet & from my LAN it just depends on what the public ip is configured as

i find this strange coming from hosting other game servers. they don't typically need to care about what the WAN address is and they certainly allow incoming connections whether it's RFC1918 or not as long as it can be routed. is this a common issue?

i don't have reverse NAT on my network but that might allow the request to traverse from my pc to the homelab successfully if using the WAN address. feels like a bit of a bandaid fix though, is there really no way to just connect to the LAN address and also host it to the internet simultaneously for my friends?

Dedicated you will want a separate PC or Laptop running it for best results. It will perform better than a listen server, which is you hosting from within the game. Both require port forwarding. If everyone is PC you can forward just port 2001. I have been running a dedicated for a couple years using Longbow (Arma Refoger Dedicated Server Tool). We play a conflict scenario and it usually takes us over a week of on and off play. Server gets shut down when we are not gaming and we pick up where we left off.

I have never done the listen server so I can't really say how that works, particually when it comes to mods and resuming play.

On top of the basic setup, you also could run into issues like your ISP being CGNAT (something I would check first), and Loopback / Hairpinning, which if your router does not handle this automatically, would prevent you from being able to join your own server.

Based off what I tested, the single player save does not work correctly. I would be willing to bet the saving for running listen server is probably the same. The last time I checked the game saves but it is never presented in the option to load, so virtually useless. You have to do several things like locating the actual save, renaming it, and then relocating it t the correct location.

Good evening guys, does anyone know the procedure in scenario framework to spawn an AI vehicle with a crew that gets into the vehicle in question and with AI waypoint Patrol points and a cycle please, basically the hierarchy to follow? So far I can make my tank spawn with the USSR AIs getting in with a trigger in my desired radius, but the little guys don’t start the vehicle and don’t take the road to follow my step. I've waited 2 hours just to download some mods to join the server and it still didn't finish, and also I can't find any good server to play on and also!!! All servers are full. So those 3 things, mods downloading takes too long, servers too full and hard to find good server

i think, its because your in a queue too long, some games do that. it could also be your client glitching/bugging around.

They really need to look at that single point of failure that got bashed yesterday - people with independent servers that they pay for couldn't access the the game server by direct IP... so evidently its not actually direct. People are paying for those servers, so whatever happens in the middle needs to either not happen or not be essential

That would require running the server without the backend and using a mod that loads scenarios and mods without the backend being present. I do this if the backend goes down for extended periods but its only useful for dedicated servers that have a fixed playerbase since the players would need to already have the mods being used as well as a batch file to connect to the server and load those mods. Only feasible in very few situations.

But as far as what you are wanting, I recommend not holding your breath.

I don't pretend to know how it works exactly, but I see the backend like the main hub for reforger. Everything communicates with it.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhh I think I get what you mean. So it has to communicate with the ARMA service anyway to check the mods from the workshop.

So anyone wanting to join would have to skip that step (and probably other calls to services) to join a game

Causing packet loss, low fps etc (Whichever side effects there are to the distance with local servers having to connect to BI's servers in EU. Is there someone that can point me in the right direction? Or a possible solution to a BI Backend server in South Africa?

I don't know if I would hold my breath on that one. If there is any, I would not expect it to be a huge, ground breaking change in performance, but I could be wrong. I persoanlly cannot believe this made it to consoles at all, considering it was never concealed that its really just a test bed for the engine.

In my experience, ARMA often either has super nice people that are experienced at the game and will help you learn the game, or people who will call you racial slurs completely unprovoked, or both in the same server.

Play the tutorial all the way through before joining any servers. Once you've done that and have an understanding of the basic mechanics play official Conflict for at least a full match or two before jumping into modded servers

It really depends what you're looking for with regards to 'seriousness', but Dads Army has EU3. It's FPP on foot, TPP in vehicles. Has no weight limit, no stamina, no rank locks on weaponry or clothing and it has persistent rank which wipes every Tuesday.
