I know that but as it is now about 80% of console players are liabilities to the team and constantly troll/tk

Many are learning and getting the hang of the ropes but many also don't care too acclimate to how arma is and what it entails

Many long standing arma players are trying to give them proper arma experiences but it's hard when the Xbox players don't care to listen and do what little we ask of them

It's hard to do a proper arma operation especially in GM when they don't care to do what's need of them for it too work as intended

Arma is a Combinded arms game helis tanks cars ifv/apc infantry can operate independently but can easily be defeated on there lonesome

Combinded arms requires team work tanks can't just roll around with 1 crew man operating it it needs a team to work along with supporting units near by so it doesn't die

Teamwork and cooperation is somthing HLL players will understand but most console players may struggle with early on
As there's very few games that have a teamwork driven experience and a open environment like Arma dose where anything can happen

It's a good point , but with the state of cod everyone jumping around diving headshotting I don't play it much but what your describing sounds kinda like hll in that game you can walk half the map to the OBJ just to grt 1 shot by a guy with a sniper in a bush then gotta walk all the way back and tanks in that game can barely function without 2 to 3 people a drive gunner and spotter

Arma is very much like that but made worse by the scale of the maps Arma 3 Altis is huge it can take 30+mins driving from one end of the map to the other at least 2 or 3hrs walking

Reforgers Everon can take about 20mins driving from one end to the other about 2 hrs walking

I was in a gm game yesterday and it took 3 helicopter rides to make it to the obj first lift got shotdown half way spent 20mins walking just too get lit up by a friendly humvee and die 2nd chopper got shot down just before the obj nobody survived 3rd one made it and we finally got into the fight all this took about 40mins or so just to get into the fight

You need to access your routers port forwarding section. Once you are there it is fairly simple. That link I sent shows what to do and has links to 4 different routers to give you an idea of where to go in the routers interface.

Unless you have a UNIFI router yours will not look like this but you should see something similar.

Yeah it is weird, select a Loadout and it all greys out, you can click the buttons still and they react but nothing happens. Right click on the application in the task bar and click it again and the error comes up so is probably hidden behind it until you do that.

You need to open ports on your router if you have not done so already. If your ISP uses CGNat that might prevent it from showing up and you will also have to make arrangements to get around that.

You still need to port forward. The connection is not direct and relies on servers outside the connection between you and your friends. That is the way I understand it.

Being banned from games at no fault of your own due to the stupidity of other players and just to add your coding by not allowing new players to the server to see mine placements on their map???.
I placed mines in tactical positions, marked them on the map, even put flags down just to be overkill announce in chat and over the radio yet I'm now being thrown off servers due to team killing at no fault of my own and due to the lack of your coding for new players who can't see them on their map.
If you're not going to address this issue then just remove the mines from the game? as this is more than likely the reason why people don't use them.
A reply would be great from the ARMA Reforger DEV team on this ongoing issue regarding mines. To add I don't mind losing XP but the bans are just plain wrong maybe the team members going over them should drop down to renegade every time they go over them.

At least on PC, double tapping the “talk” key puts you on continuous VOIP. Just be careful because the enemy can very clearly hear when your microphone is transmitting

Hellicopter Control is messed up: cyclic back is bound to mouse vertical up — but moving my mouse to the rear doesn't do anything. The helicopter isn't responding to that input. I have tried on two mice.

Everything else works fine cyclic left, right, forward -- all responsive to my mouse. But not cyclic back... so wierd / frustrating.

Side note: Geforce Now (cloud gaming in general) is pretty cool, despite these limitations. With 1gb internet, latency is a non-issue. Your situation is different, but I see little need to try and keep up with the latest and best hardware specs. For $20 p/month I get Arma Reforger / Arma III / enter game name at max quality with 100+ frames and 16 ping. I do wish sometimes I had full control of my own machine... can't have it all I guess.

Confirmed solution for the heli controls fix after yesterdays patch: as recommended by @PaperThin, deleted all folders under C:\Users\User\Documents\My Games\ArmaReforger\profile.save. Then remapped the keybinds and mouse controls. All works perfectly well now. Thank you PaperThin!

Those are mostly on community servers, units/communities doing a large operation (planned), that experience can be done with joining a community, the chances of having a good coordinated battle like on the YT videos on public servers are very small, but yet not impossible tho.

Not sure about specific servers but best thing i can say is just try and find some chill dudes that are willing to show you the ropes and dip your toes in taking some FIA points to learn the games mechanics in a more controlled environment vs diving head first into pvp. It might not sound like fun at first but doing Logistics is very important and while driving trucks around, you very often come across FIA checkpoints and have to dismount to clear the road so its not just trucking simulator. Not everyone on here is a PC Master Race cuckhold and theres a lot of guys who just want to chill and run in a squad or convoy

I heard there is a way to somehow turn off the backend requirement on server side. But I don't know if its documented how to do that.
Then you'd need to direct ip connect.. which you can't because the in-game "direct ip" connection thing, only does a server search in the backend, it doesn't actually directly connect to the IP.
There's probably also a workaround to do that somehow. Like if the server backend can be turned off, there must be some way to connect

In the multiplayer menu, the players connect to a master serverlist. This serverlist gets its informations from the servers that communicate with the masterlist.

I guess that servers error out when they can't reach the masterlist, which is odd but makes sense.

If none of the above bothers you and your community then you can host servers without backend, but some extra steps are required

For Vanilla you are best off with Community servers, imo. Bohemia's are OK but 48 Everon is really low, especially on full - and performance isn't much greater.

64-100 is the sweet spot for perfomance Crossplay on Everon but no one hosts these because everyone wants to play 100+ servers.

100-110 is a sweetspot for performance for most servers.

Communities up to 128 slots are fun but can be laggy if the server is not optimized / running too many servers / too many mods etc.

In my case, I lowered some network & view distances to maximize perfomance for consoles on my server, as well as other minor enhancements (disabling certain objectives to have smaller area of combat etc). Still adjusting thou, I need to figure out best values but we have 95% PS / Xbox players so I think I did something right lol

I’ve tried it as quad leader, I can create a squad of AI but 80% of the time when I try to have them follow me or get in a vehicle they just run into each other and to nowhere or stand still and don’t follow orders

Repeat the orders, when they get stuck, move 3 or 4 metres, they will react properly. The same applies to vehicles - if they don't get in, repeat and move the vehicle slightly. Sometime waiting 5 seconds helps. And remember AIs always regroup to the base of their origin as a WHOLE group. Example. You spawn 10 AIs at Le Moule. You drove with all of them to CB Morton. One AI goes somewhere and gets stuck. You don't notice. You go to MB Levie to capture it and just outside MB Levie you order AIs to get out. They do, but instead of following you, the go back to Le Moule to join with that one AI stuck somewhere around CB Morton (he also tries to go to Le Moule).

You will need to build a helipad in anybase, then you can spawn helicopters in that base.

A faster way to get a helicopter, you can rush the military hospital or military base levie. there are broken down helicopters there that you can fix, refuel then fly.

usually appears when you are joining and they assign the slot to another person and you are waiting because there is no room, it also happens when your server has 20 fps or less and takes longer to manage the connection

Casual ops 1 75th both good servers but huge wait time and 2 good servers I like is the exd.gg servers 1st always has big que but the second server barely has one but still has very high player county

so how is that here it says i have 800 ping, here looking at all these servers I have 80. I get disconnected roughly every 15-20 minutes playing this game and i have zero clue what is going on with the networking, i was trying to join a friend and then he tried joining me and we couldn't do either because it kept giving a Replication error.

Press LCTRL+LSHIFT+ESC.
Task manager will be opened, check in network monitor if you don't have anything sending/receiving data all the time.
If not, it's your connection quality and it's how many ISPs work. You get the service, but it has jitter.

Starlink works suprisingly well if you can swing it and have a clear view. My friend just went from years of ATT, barely being able to play Reforger and being the weakest link on the team, to an actual asset. He lives in bumfuck MS.

I will say its pretty annoying waiting in a queue for 20 minutes, getting in a game only for to be on the countdown timer and then being kicked from the server once the match ends... such is arma i guess

I recommend going to community and do 110/128 servers their pretty good the exd.2 server usually is always full but only has like 5 min wait it’s a good server

Then really either just spawn a light vehicle get it full with people and ask someone for directions to a point and cap it with them or join someone else’s vehicle and help them navigate if their squad lead or smth

Or if you wanna get a buddy and you become a squad lead you can run supplies and he can tell you where to go and that’s a good way to learn the map a little better
