yes yes I know how it works, my question was more of a - Can it be modded in the Reforger? As a mod.
I hope so...but I think maybe it would be better to make this basic functionality official? Because as a mod, there will be a lot of problems
maybe true, it is always nice to have the functionality in the game and mod on top of that than having to develop said functionality as a mod I guess... Though I am speculating here as I have absolutely no clue how this process works..

Yeah the new engine is the best part so far. I hope the future is bright. On the Tarkov note - I prefer playing games where I control the recoil, not the game hehe.

Imagine an adversarial mode like Tarkov, but with all weapon data close to reality

What a strange question. Yes, there is a whole team of AI devs in Reforger.
If they are dedicated to working on a.i only then when can we expect some improvements? currently the a.i is not just basic but utterly broken, machine gunners are firing point blank into building walls at enemies they can't even see. They shoot their own squad mates in the back, they cannot drive at all. Some refuse to open doors and just stand bunched up, same thing happens on fences. They refuse to defend even when ordered to with a defense waypoint and instead just rush at the enemy even if they are behind cover they choose to rush into open spaces. So for me it's not a strange question to ask if there are dedicated devs working on these issues or if they are currently assigned to other tasks like stability etc. I am not a dev so i don't know how those things work. I do not play modes like conflict i have spent over 1000 hours in arma3 zues making single/coop player missions so the a.i is very important to me.

you cant. You need a dedicated server for that. There is no possibility of "self hosting" for now.
There is plenty o' empty Game master server out there, join one, vote yourself "master" and go wild with your friends

When you move your weapon, your soldier will move their arms and torso only without moving their entire body except if you move the mouse too far to one side.

Aiming the dead zone means you can move your weapon on the screen instead of keeping it centered on the screen
You mentioned that the character only moves the upper body, that's part of it, but the other part is that the weapon can move around the screen
Right on. I though it was the ability to move your weapon without moving the soldier entire body like in other games.
Even though there is already a similar effect in the game, the entire body of the character remains in one direction when moving
After last night's talk, I had a conversation with an old player from the ofp era that I know
He thinks that targeting dead zones is easy to implement in reforger, but the official does not provide an option
Another thing that makes him criticize is about fov
He thinks ... the fov is too narrow, even if it can be adjusted to 90°
I know this may not apply to everyone, I'm just mentioning this
Because it's not possible for everyone to play with a 120° fov, but I think his remarks about targeting dead zones are justified
I might be wrong about this but doesn't Arma use vertical FOV instead of horizontal? So 90 vertical in Arma is basically 120 horizontal in other games

On Xbox is it possible to properly holster weapons? For example I have an AK and a PM. Can I holster the PM rather than have it in my hands?

I know this is Arma, and as an XBOX player I don’t know what the previous entries are like, but is there a reason that DayZ implements 3rd person ADS while Reforger only allows for 3rd person “blind fire”?

I guess it doesn’t strike me as an FPS when you can toggle to a 3rd person cam. Was more so curious than anything else. I quite like that aspect in DayZ, and was surprised since Arma seems more “casual” (at least Reforger) and figured it would as well.
public servers have that option turned on to make it a bit easier - driving, seeing your character etc. None of the private own servers i have played on have 3rd person view active. It is also the same on previous arma titles

It autosaves every 10 min and should persist over restart. But test to be 100% sure. There were some issues

Can I download mods and use them in public servers like conflict or game master?
If server has them, yes. If not no. Clientside addons do not exist as of now like in a3. Even then, server would have to allow them.
So if I had a mod for a ar and hopped on a server, that server would have to have that mod whitelisted basically?
No, your client will simply not load the mod when you press join.
Can I place a stack of bandages into the quick menu? Can't figured it out. It's only placed 1 bandage instead all.

the server would have to have the mod enabled in the mission it was running. if it's not listed then it doesnt exist from the perspective of your game, whether you have downloaded the files or not

Yeah I know but I was on a server the other day and 8 of us was struggling to take the first objective on xbox it was just weird as it was like there were extra on point and could see us from wayyyy further then they were supposed to

Will gas consumption during driving be a thing in the future? I notice when you shoot a vehicles gas tank the gas decreases in the vehicle and can become empty, I also noticed that if not receiving damage to the tank gas doesn't continuously drain.
Yes, consumption during driving will likely be functional. I'm surprised it's not working now.

Yeah only way I can get gas to consume is if I shoot the gas tank, and then (it should slowly leak imo) it will have less gas but still can drive to one end and back without any change in fuel levels.

Fuel consumption is already there, I've driven the US army jeep around the whole island and it used only a quarter of fuel but it does consume

I drove across the whole map and back didn't seem to move for me gas at half a tank the while time (this is after I had shot it) weird
it does still bother me how there isn't visible vehicle part damage indicators like in previous games
like seeing fuel tank damage
I'm sure they have something planned for vehicle damage, I'm hoping they go the more realistic route with it to show us what the new engine is capable of
That said tire damage is there just not really anything visible other then tires sinking into the ground like previous Arma games

I’m looking to purchase Reforger purely for the scripting and mission making side of things. Would it be worth it?
both are different than A3. Is it woth paying 30$? for some 30$ is a lot, for others less than a meal. No one can tell you what to spend your money on
@formal pond Since release i've spend much more time in the Workbench than i've spend playing any other game's released in the last couple year's.
So yes if you are into scripting and modding you can already have a good time with Reforger. At least that's how it is for me.
Definitely would enjoy it! Im only on xbox so obviously very restricted in terms of mission making/modding and GM has no mods for now online etc but I have a world of fun knocking stuff up, only waiting now so I can save what I make and implement mods to online that I have been having a great time using offline.

Not necessarily. It's very vocal potential minority people telling other people that the servers are still broken. If you keep saying, "They're not fixed" then people won't try and can't give feedback.
You're not helping. You need to tell folks to try it themselves so appropriate feedback can be given. If I didn't lurk so often, I would probably see your reply and just leave and not give it a shot.
It's been reiterated 100,000 times. The fix isn't a catch all fix. It works for some and not for others.

um..no? the minority is very much the people it works for. ANd no im not telling people to spend money on a game in development that doesn't work yet. People have the right to ask questions and receive honest feedback. And i'm not going to care about someone going "oh how dare you criticise this keep your mouth shut and tell them its ok and to buy it!"
So i messed with this yesterday. its a temporary timer where you're invulnerable when you spawn. its actually not as useful as it sounds because it takes long enough to spawn that you only have a couple seconds of protection. we had a case yesterday where 1 guy with an ak kept a camp locked down repeatedly killing the 3 defenders spawning in until we all spawned at the same time
so its good enough to race for a bush and get into concealment to fight rather than spawn and just die immediately, but dont expect to zoom around killing with impunity
Two things: You took my comment WAY out of context. I never said BUY anything. If they have it, then they should go try it. If they don't have it, then wait. Your response shouldn't be, "Go buy it and try it" but if I have the game and someone said, "Oh yeah, servers are still fucked." I'm not even going to bother. For you to blanket statement and say, "It still doesn't work" doesn't help. I'm not silencing you, I'm not telling people not to bitch. I'm telling people to give constructive feedback.
And secondly, how do you know it's only a minority it works for when it's pretty much the same folks in this discord saying they still can't connect, which is unfortunate but may not be the majority? I don't think you have the data to indicate. All I said was, "Potential minority" because the dataset size isn't exactly huge just here on this discord and may not be representative of the actual number.

Helicopters, destruction and bug fixes are confirmed. Everything else is not confirmed or we've been told that it won't be in the game.

Well that would depend on your system and how the implementation of fauna was handled and how much detail they choose to go for. One work around would be to have it as a setting for either server side or local...

Well, They said no current plans for it, csn be taken in a number of ways but it's a different answer to what was said about helis. If I don't have plans for something, that means just that, there is no plans for it to happen. Yes, plans can change, but at this stage, you'd think if they planned for it at all, it would already be a plan. Wouldn't surprise me if they left it till arma 4. But yes, idrc either at this point. The optimisation is way way below par for adding a tank atm anyway.
No doubt a modded vehicle would be made anyway eventually

Well the reason I asked also is because me and a guy are having a debate and I don't think he understands mods but to be fair I don't know either, but the argument is basically if they don't implement tracked vehicles officially then you wouldn't be able to add a modded tank, which sounds ridiculous especially since we have the tools to use for such features

truth told, conflict is just a scenario and its already got a number of varients. you'll be more likely to get a better version from the modders than BI for this. Frankly i'd far prefer them getting the game fundamentally working rather htan messing with a scenario that any one of us can mess with. I mean conflict enhanced already blows the original out of hte water

Will there be a conflict type of prefab mode in GM? Like how a game of conflict currently works, but customizable in GM. Like the GM chooses where the bases are located and how many between the 2 main HQ's if that makes sense.
I've tried many of things to make something similar to conflict but in different areas, and there is no way currently that I have found to make a physical objective that the player can interact with and secure 😅.
Can someone confirm if there is biological night vision? I.e. at night your eyes adjust to the darkness over time? Which is then ruined if you use torch/lantern etc. Like in real life.

i doubt that is reforger exclusive tbh. You can check through xbox dev data if you want. Considering that most content mods for arma3 are well in excess of 2gb, that would mean there will be quite a limiting factor for xbox platform

That was the case on fallout 4 and Skyrim, but now that I think about it I’m pretty sure I have over 2 GBs of mods downloaded on arma, since I have two that are 1 GB+
wondering what happens if a mod would be 2gb+ in itself, not cumulatively
yeah just looked and I have a few GBs downloaded. The saved data on the game says I have 9.8 GBs of reserved space, so if there is a limit currently, I think it may be that 10 GB mark. Worth other Xbox people checking the size of their game and seeing if they also have the 9.8 GBs of reserved space
We have so many shit games like COD that take up hundreds of GB, I think arma could get away with being 50 GB larger lol

Anyone know what causes the scopes to glitch out and have blue pixels throughout it?
I thought it was conflicting weapon/attachment mods but I've had it happen just now without any change of mods from previous session and tried changing around what mods are active to try and resolve it, but it's still happening.
it happens with vanilla scopes for me just as well
Fair enough, I've only had it unless im using modded items in scenarios or GM. Point to note I'm on xbox, never had it happen on m21 or SVD when playing online.

Try turning antivirus off while downloading mods, that worked for me, other than that change download location with -addonDownloadDir and -addonsDir startup params. More info can be found on wiki
ill definitly try that, i dont even have an addon folder in documents, or a profile folder, i added them manually but they are emty

If you look inside these wrecks, you will see that they even have basic cockpit details

They already can be if a server runs the workshop mods. But the official servers do not run any mods
it literally cant be client, not when there has been literally nothing you can do to resolve it on your own, and there are thousands of people that have this same issue. And especially not when its basically the official servers that are doin it the most

But m+k support doesn't means that it will be used by all or most people. Like other games with m+k support, this feature is used by very very small percent. Console gamers still prefer controller. In conclusion: m+k support would be bad too.

the main perk of rank is in spawning. The higher your rank, the shorter your spawn timer for people who spawn on your radio. i dont know how fast lieutenant is, but ive had experiences where ive had people spawning every second or two on me for 20+ minutes

Hey all, I'm having an issue with modding as well as trying to start an unmodded server.

There's an error log I could link or give that says something along the lines of "cannot move /addons/[mod ID]/[image].jpg to server/addons/[mod ID]/[image].jpg" as well as "Can't open a workshop meta file: $profile:../addons/[mod ID]/meta

Sever starts up fine, but I cannot join because there is a connection failure over and over, I do not know if I Ported correctly or not.
Deleteing content of addons folder on server should help with first error.
For second if you are hosting on same machine that you play on.... well solution is not straightforward. If not then most likely port forwarding or wrong address in gameHostRegisterBindAddress

Are ya'll working on the memory leak? RAM utilization grows steadily overtime even when no players are online. Once RAM is maxed out (14GB) server crashes (10 player rented server). I am using the "-maxFPS 60" as custom start param. thanks!

Lazy work... what a stupid statement. Software development is very complex these days and what BI reached with their new engine is remarkable. Sure, it's need improvements, optimizations and more features, but hey, we're currently in an early phase of reforger and on the road to Arma 4.

When will the first major update drop? Only asking as 12months for early access. I'd think would mean every 3 months ish we'd get 1 major update, if I recall 4 major updates correctly.
There will 3 major updates comes. There is no eta for the first one. As developer you try to be flexible, so publish a date now wouldn't make sense, because they have currently bigger problems to resolve. That's the reason, why there's no roadmap at beginning.

Too vague a question. There were multiple issues for a range of network related problems, a number of fixes have been deployed each week since launch. So the best way to find out if specific issues that you might have experienced are fixed is to try for yourself directly.

If you hit “play” on game master instead of “find server”, you will load into a offline single player mode with all your mods available. Some mods do come with a scenario though that you can load up and it’ll have all the mod stuff ready

How on earth do you fight at night in this game?
There's a few tells, such as silhouetting, or people accidentally wandering into light that can help you find a target, but most of the time I'm basically walking into people in the pitch black nothing. I don't suppose there's any tactics on torch usage that work?

you can blind your enemy for example. or send him a message
you can use light from vehicles
you can drop your lit torch on the ground for distraction
you can leave it turned off too
btw, the nights are more lit if there is good weather and full moon.
that also depends on the angle of the moon and your positioning on the map... and the calendar date.
Blinding people seems a pretty risky move, compared to anyone you aren't pointing at shooting you instantly

so it requires you to actually think instead of just run around. you need to use stealth, avoid backlighting, be slow, and learn not to use your flashlight.

ive definitely done the drop the light thing. i also do it to highlight an area such as the radio, so either someone goes and turns off the flashlight (at which point i light the up) or they are visbile when going for the radio.

please understand i wasnt being rude. the point is night time is not a run and gun but a thief-esque time to play. In truth a huge chunk IS that, waiting for the first person to make a mistake. oh it works great. a muzzle flash will light up their whole body
you can try all that for yourself.
with the Game Master mode for example, there you can set the conditions and see the results
btw, if you dont have a top CPU but still want to watch a big clash between AIs, i can recomend just joining an empty GM server and vote for yourself to be game master.
youll have better framerate that way if the server computer is well built
Well, classic reforger there, my game crashed as I was doing some sneaky manoeuvres. So far ingame I've actually really struggled to see muzzle flashes. I think I can attempt tos ee if blinding the enemy with torches is worth it, and how much stray light there is from these ones
that were merely some options.
of course different situations can change the outcome of your decissions....

i mean you ahve to be close, all i know for example is when im taking FIA bases at night, I can clearly see when the AI shoots and ive seen a number of night battles where stuff was lighting up like mad from gun fire

I suspect a lot of people who speak the enemy's language try irl to issue confusing orders in close combat
idk, but i ment rather using an empty server instead of doing GM offline (which would leave all the AI calculations to your own CPU)

many servers cant hold that much AI fighting atm and rather crash. or the (MY)game crashes
in all honesty, BI needs to hire some master network programmers and not the ones they have now and master server meshing, because their arma engines have never truly been able to allow for truly large numbers of units. We're entering into an age where it shoudln't be a problem to have 4 or 5 servers working together to allow hundreds of players and thousands of AI.

Officially the answer was aircraft, water craft, artillery and destruction is slated to be added over 3 major updates. No eta or order in which the content will come.
You can turn on you torch and the drop it and it will remain on, example we had a sniper on a hill (moving and shooting) shooting at us anytime a light came on or we went into light, so I had 3 guys line up looking at the hill, while I laid down and crawled 20m to there left turned on my light (quickly) dropped it and moved to my right as fast as possible. When the sniper took his 2 shots my guys lit him up, target eliminated 😂

I am not sure if i am doing something wrong but when i make my own conflict i get as far as doing it all on the enfusion engine and when i test it on the engine everything works but then when i test it in scenarios to see if it actually works i get no ai spawning at the bases and the vehicle shop dont work. It's prob me doing something wrong but i wanted to ask here to see if i could get some info on it :/

Console platform specific servers are limited in backend, you cannot go over the limit, for now.
I know but for some reason there was a bug 3 updates before where u could host servers for some reason when u created a game from the workshop downloaded section
For some reason it got patched and this is basically why search for a workaround cause official is well.. not great for groups u always have black sheep’s on these servers ruining the fun

Its a Disconnection, it means the connection process to the server failed, happens when joining fails.

I think the drawcalls are a problem - amount of objects that are requested to draw, not drawing them itself - that's why it might be hard, even with 2d, always fron facing, sprites.

Is there a way for the gamemaster to setup some loadouts for players to select?
The last lod of trees is already as simple as it can be really, a crossing plane. The object number does not change with whatever graphics is rendered on it even as invisible it would still be there.
You can try Arma 3 and crank up view distance and object draw distance to 12 km and see how that works.
the talk is about the option "Grass Draw Distance" in Reforger.
it stops at 150m, which could already draw farther in Arma3 with the "terrain setting" on Ultra and the "extended grass" mod.

There's no such thing as an engine limit when your engine is brand new and under active development lol
"Engine limitations" is describing a situation where you don't have access to the engine source code or it's infeasible to modify it like in RV4
that being said, after watching that video, there is no way to have endless grass rendered distance
maybe some thing to mitigate the non grass rendering, sure, but that’s left to be seen
Rendering huge amounts of grass is challenging because you rapidly become fillrate-limited, I doubt any modern rendering engine is going to be limited by drawcalls
Most of the scene is going to be drawn in just a few massive indirect calls most likely
Or if it's not, it will be eventually
It's possible they reduced the grass for console performance or something, maybe when the engine gets more mature and it makes sense to optimize things further it will improve

As milsims is one of the very few areas where size actually matters, is there any goal for the approx. number of players and AIs supported by servers?

This is a very complicated question, so I will give a quick overview, long term - upgrades of some systems are coming, but stability comes first.
Just to put things in perspective, currently full conflict runs at an average ~300+ AI / 64 players / 40 vehicles / @1500m networked view distance in each direction = ~25+ FPS, at least for the official servers, and this says nothing about the fidelity/entity count we are dealing with.
Of course, I don't expect upgrades in this domain to be soon or of a high priority. I'm more asking about the view for not-so-near future

holy crap this guy is so wrong it hurts "games process data at the same rate as the refresh rate" This is a statement that, while previously often true, is very often NOT true in modern games and is increasingly less so entirely because of what we're talking about. Most modern games have what's called a main thread (processing data like input, physics, sound, etc) and a render thread (displaying stuff...this is directly tied to your refresh rate/fps) Now, while having enough cpu bound stuff that causes the main thread to slow enough to effect the render thread will effect the input latency as well as the render thread very often, however just becasue your render thread is able to blast out does NOT mean the main thread is going any faster.
I can see what he's talking about, but a) the returns are minimal at best especially in a game like reforger, and b) if it's a modern game being developed in modern methodologies, this will not be directly true.
now, as the reforger devs here LOVE to point out...we don't know how they coded the game so there's no way to say either way. But the fact of the matter relating to your video link is the information he is using is old and increasingly less applicable.

IRL the sights are not bad, but neither good either.
The biggest problem is how games portrait them (especially BF/COD), which is far from realistic... However I do feel it might need some tweaking in Reforger to make it a bit less annoying.

The sight flips up and down. They are using the raised leaf sight, which in the game severely blocks your view. In real life not as bad.
But if the sight is fixed, they should be using the battle sight (https://i.imgur.com/lQkQ7X4.jpg). Maybe it will later be changed where it starts out on the battle sight (750 yards) and when you page up, it flips up rear leaf which goes all the way from 100 to 2600 yards.

You can’t command AI other than through game master, so the single player and co-op scenarios are pretty much all suicide missions

Likely nothing until after they get the connectivity issue solved and a couple patches of legitimate content. Right now they have literally nothing they can say in their defense because every time the ysay they've improved things, all that happens is that different people get diferent results in both directions. Further, to even mention the numbers would shine light on the fact that as a product reforger atm is an abject failure/embarressment for BI. I can't think of the last game that went from so many people to so few so fast. In short...I honestly think never because I personally suspect reforger is going to get shoved into the back of the closet where they hope everyone who paid near-AAA money for....nothing....forgets about it.
I'm taking the risk and blurting it out that I believe that BI (i.e. the management) knew what they were doing by releasing Reforger. To me, it was a shameless but still a necessary cash grab to fund Enfusion development to avoid losing their majority share of or even going out of business.
I have constantly strengthening impression that BI is in financial trouble because they're now paying the price of the pile of the technological debt that has accumulated during the years. I'm not necessarily blaming them for that since that's how software development often just works (or rather, turns out) though.
Assuming that I'm correct here, I have mixed feelings about it since I have love-hate relationship with Arma and I wouldn't mind if the upper management got swapped because I would do so many things differently, but I still feel like that they've managed to make something special. It's rather the counterfactual – the things we could have in Armaverse if certain things were done differently – that bothers me.
I believe that Arma would need a competitor, but the entry barrier to create a heavy entity of large open world combined ops sandbox is extremely high nowadays and makes it very unlikely that something like this would happen, although it'll be interesting to see how development of especially Unreal Engine will possibly change the landscape here.
I've still got more thoughts on the topic but I'm running out of battery, so I'll end my post here for now.
I agree they knew what they were doing in that they felt they had to. Reforger unfortunately was an obvious cash grab that has likely also come at the cost of the company's reputation. The arma platofrom has always opened incredibly unique doors, but what needs to be pointed out that BI has never in fact been the one to make use of those doors, modders were. There are so many features of advanced arma 3 that come from modders it's insane to where vanilla arma...is basically unplayable for most players now. It really depends on whether or not BI can put the money they got from reforger to good use because my personal feeling is that they aren't going to get more than one chance with arma 4 and that after reforger a whole lot less people are going to be doing any preorders or day 1 purchases.
I wouldn't necessarily go and say that arma 3's many features came from modders. Content? Sure, quite a lot of it, but features mostly came from vanilla itself and a lot of things that are done by modders always originate from the path BI paved and developed into RV4.
I also really wouldn't call vanilla arma unplayable, especially as so many still play it, or play the setting.
You can actually see that with arma reforger part of the reason that nothing big is coming out is because mod devs are waiting for BI to showcase how to do things, and provide examples and architecture for things to get done easier.
An engine like UE is simply unsuitable for a game like Arma

Yeah, I agree. That's why I was talking about the (future) development of Unreal Engine. Also, a competitor for Arma wouldn't necessarily have to copy Arma as it is, but rather utilize the strengths of e.g. UE and create an alternative creative vision of the topic. (Just like in warfare, there's no single path to victory and to win, one must adjust their strategy and tactics to the terrain. Circumstances and the environment can be either your best friend or your worst enemy, and it's in your hands when it comes to which one they'll end up becoming.)

From what I remember playing around with it its down to updating only parts of the mesh - split by grid etc. and there are issues with that, not to mention integration with other systems and of course replicating it.

In my opinion it is generally technically possible, I have executed a smaller scale prototype in UE4 for my master thesis, but there are likely issues at scale, interactions with other systems etc.
I've seen real craters and trench making in VBS4 footage and deadmen said even in arma 3 (similar engine), so you would hope it's possible in enfusion as well at some point....me and my boys will sweat while digging those trenches

Ever heard of ACE? How about TFAR? DId you know that weapon leaning was first modded? Bipods were first modded as well. I just can't agree with you. I remember a number of mods like those that had me go "wow....this is amazing! why wasnt this in before??" And by unplayable i mean the game simply felt lacking in comparison. And with reforger, nothing big coming out is more because it doesnt work and there's little point adding content to an unstable platform that isnt even being played by a single percent of the arma community (btw they apparently saw my posts or someone else talking about low player count...they just yanked the player counter from the steam page)
TFAR is an impressive feature but it was there since Arma 2 together with ACRE, same goes for ACE which while I love a lot of its systems it is largely derived from both ACE from arma 2 aswell as AGM that preceded it, not to mention that ACE appeals to a specific audience so you won't see anybody casually use it.
Weapon leaning was initially modded but it was inherently really buggy and pretty barebones, it was better than nothing for sure, and it was funny how you could use people's backs to deploy weapons, but it wasn't really there to the extent that it is now in vanilla arma.
My reasoning previously about the lack of big mods for reforger stemmed from what I saw mod devs talk about, that is waiting for BI to show how to implement air units or post the proper documentation to do so, the game for all intents and purposes is pretty stable if you're a milsim of sorts that plays privately on PvE, since very often you'll be below 32 player count and with a server machine specific to your needs, so network instability would be very unlikely.
Also player count is still present on steam charts so I'm not sure what you're on about.
steam charts access their actual numbers that can't be changed. but yesterday you could see the number of people in game on the steam game community hub, that's gone now.

So fyi to anyone that has the same issue just download driverfixwebdl and it will run right away. Then you can uninstall the program and then start you're server and it all will work again :). Unless you have other issues of course. But to fix this problem i did what i said and all is working perfect now.
I have a problem regarding a player who has an offensive in-game tag. I know some games censor out the name or have a reporting system. Ubisoft allows you to report a player if their name or icon breaks the community guidelines, Zero Hour censors and renames the player in a match. Will there be any framework protecting the community from this toxicity? There is a no-tolerance policy for the discord, I hope this extends to your other titles.
Will we be able to make custom game modes using GM (like conflict/C&H)? It'd be nice to have actual physical objectives that the player could interact with. Instead of the GM saying you did it boys next objective.
You can already place down objectives as GM. Like assault, defend, move, etc. These will autocomplete. Then you have custom ones, which you need to mark as completed (as gm)
Right but the autocompleted are super basic and you can't link an objective to a radio for instance to establish coms with the HQ (no HQ either) that's what I'm asking if we'll get down the road or not

Yeah the image is quite altered. Ive tried to recreate it but there is some differences, like radio tower lights simply aren't on. Red position lights of vehicles arent reflecting on ground. Picture is much too bright for the day the picture had to be taken (18th sept 1989 at 23:15), judging by moon phase. Position picture was taken is 096028, some terrain features dont quite match. My angle is slightly off too, but it is what it is.
Perhaps you could get closer in game by placing red light sources and some post processing.
Ive also noticed that if you turn on truck lights and enter and exit the gm few times, the light from headbeams stops rendering and you need to get in and out of the truck again

Is there any info on how smart the AI will be in reforger/a4? Mainly to do with tactics. It would be cool to see AI not just instantly shoot, but shift into position and let you come closer before opening up. Stuff like that.

this is unfortunately how 3d scopes in any game are going to work, it's trying to render the game twice when that scope comes up.. if your gpu can't handle the load of twice the renderign then it'll slow

Okay so I'm asking for a official answer from a Dev on if xbox players will be able to host there own server on xbox? or more specifically what the dev report means (100% clarification) about multi-player mod support/custom servers. This is a big discussion on the Xbox channel so I'm trying to get official information vs speculation about what was stated.

the issue is this is a fallacy. It attempts to say something is obviously liked because it isn't defended because it doesn't NEED to be defended. The problem then is that this assumes a bad product will be rated and discussed JUST as poorly as a good product. Because though one DOESNT have defenders, supposedly the other doesn't NEED defenders and thus you wont see them. Thing is, we know that's not the case. Some of the most contraversial games like star citizen and no mans sky who have had their share of detractors have also had constant and varying support showing that even poor games with promise will have people speaking up for them. So, in short, reforger doesn't have defenders outside this discord...because there likely aren't many in the first place. this discord is by far the densest population of pro-reforgers and if you haven't noticed, even HERE discussion has slowed massively. If BI gets its act together thing might change, but for now the reason there aren't many people defending their social media posts is because they don't have anything to counter the detractors other than "it's early access" and "it's in development", excuses many don't find acceptable for what was/is being sold.

And its certainly possible. But thing is...most people defend things they like and have a passion in. If dissed arma 3 on a facebook post, people would be all OVER it. I can think of any NUMBER o things from sports to cars to games where if someone starts ragging on the subject, people are quick to interject.
So I'm not quite sure why reforger would be any different. But hey, it's possible. Or, I think, more likely that the potential defenders are themselves waiting to see if there's anything to like/defend in the end.

Problem with integrating TFAR into the base game is it's reliant on another program (Teamspeak), unless they've somehow managed to create voice hooks for Discord that have the same effects?

I just want the convenience of TFAR. Existing radio systems are not very flexible.
I started with reforger TFAR, got the basic teamspeak functionality working.
But I don't think it makes sense anymore with how good ingame VON is now.
VON basically just needs bohemia to improve the modability of it (custom audio effects mainly, and control over how distance loss is calculated, multiple frequencies per radio) and then you just need to mod in some radio UI and stuff and then its fine.
Not much sense to develop a full TFAR now, with having to rewrite/replace tons of stuff that will later just be scrapped, if we can just wait till modability of VON becomes better.

Touche. And as far as I'm concerned, Discord's quality and consistency leave much to be desired as far as voice. That said, Reforgers radios are WAY better than Arma 3's vanilla comms.

I experimented around with it such that I got the basics working that would be needed to develop it.
But I don't think I'll go any further. Especially as it depends on clientside dll extensions, which aren't happening and anyway not console compatible.
But if we wait for ingame VON to become more modable, we won't need DLL's and it will work with consoles
My clan uses ACRE, have for years, but TBH TFAR was always more reliable. Solid mod there if you're the one who wrote it. Good on ya.
I think plan this time would be more to get together with ACRE team and just build one radio mod that does it all, instead of having two.
But they are also blocked by VON not really being moddable currently, like 90% of it is in engine. For my TFAR test I just disabled the ingame VoN completely
