Yes I know where the settings are in the game menu, but I don't see an action helicopterenginestart and stop in any of the conf files. Which file did you get the above?

Well i did change it in-game to Q key, so it did automatically write the changes into my InputUserSettings.conf
As soon as you change any default key in the in-game settings it will be listed in InputUserSettings.conf.

Really the only settings I don't like in this game. Makes more sense to HOLD to stop engine to prevent accidental engine stops from a key getting bumped. Even with the default (L-Ctrl R) to stop engine, I am going bind that to one button. I just moved it to a button that is less likely to get accidentally bumped for now.

Not a huge deal but option would be nice. I fired up ARMA 3 for the first time in probably a year and the control options, while they are vast and can get confusing, are nice to have. But the simplicity of Reforger controls is also nice.
It used to be more significant, since engine start time was not fixed.
I've reinstalled to Reforger but I'm stuck in freelook everytime I try to fly a helicopter
I pressed ALT once to get out of locked freelook but it doesn't work, for a second it does then it reverts back, how do I fix it

The only way I know to disable freelook is by having mouse aircraft control. Enable in Gameplay > Controls This will require you to hold ALT to look around.

The need to same thing in wheeled vehicles, particularly for people with head tracking who don't need the mouse changing their view.

Not necessarily, although outdated mods are less likely to work properly with the current game version, if they work at all
why do I have to download mods every time I rejoin a server, are they like constantly adding 20 mods every 30 minutes 😭 ?
Depends on what the mod is some things in the background modding wise have changed if it's something like a faction override probably will work but some things like sounds or weapons about 50/50 if it's not a huge download I'd say try it if it works good if not delete it some mods break on updates some don't
Can someone explain to me why consoles can’t see enemy players or Ai any further than 550 meters vs PC players that can see 1200+ meters. I’ve tested this on Vanilla and modded server. I’ve reported it on feedback tracker and it was turned into feedback and disregarded. This change took place when 1.6 got released. Hope someone can answer and that it gets fixed in 1.7 because it’s a huge disadvantage for console users.
I expect performance. Consoles have a limited hardware compared to the potential of the best gaming PCs, and console players have higher expectations games will work on their consoles without issue. I hear the console makers are also more touchy about developers meeting reasonable performance standards.
i added some mods like the berly and the rah and the berrat to try them in gm but i can not find them

can someone help me with my mods, they are all messed up and doesnt download, ive tried deleting the addon file but yet doesnt work, i have a bunch of space on my PC and my PC can handle mods
However, prior to 1.6 consoles had a view distance for enemies at 1000 meters. With Fidelity settings you can see objects but not Ai or enemies up to 2500 meters. On performance settings it’s around 1600 meters for objects. Consoles beat most low end gaming pc’s by far. Those low end pcs can still see enemies at 1200 meters. Regardless of console performance, it’s a huge disadvantage for consoles regardless of PVP or PVE servers. Ai is spotting players well beyond 550 meters.
It needs to be fix in 1.7.
most people dont have the best gaming PC's either. If anything people are going to hold on to current hardware longer then they normally would in the past given the ever increasing costs of hardware . RAM and hardrives in particular. of course who knows when the AI bubble will pop and prices become reasonable again.
tbf even current gen consoles got price hikes due to market pressures so one wonders if ps5 pro now costs MSRP of $900 what that will mean for next gen release of consoles?
Yes, consoles are good these days, but difference is no one cares if some dude's PC can't run a game properly, but Microsoft and Sony will be very upset if a game released on Xbox or PlayStation doesn't run nicely. Meanwhile PC users will be upset if their graphics or gameplay are limited due to a console release. Anyways that seems to be likely the reason for such restriction on console and not on PCs.
Xbox hasn’t been able to play since the release of 1.6 and is the reason they are asking for people on Xbox to join the 1.7 experimental play test. Consoles are struggling with the current version. I personally play on a PS5 Pro and mostly play on my personal servers which I have fixed a lot of the issues most people have through my mods I’ve created, but when I play vanilla servers I can’t stay connected more than 15 minutes at a time. It shouldn’t be that a modded server is more stable than vanilla. When vanilla isn’t stable then it’s the base programing that needs fixing. Unfortunately the rendering distance for Ai on consoles is hard coded by BI to increase stability as a work around due to a poor 1.6 release, and can’t be altered by mod scripting.

I need help figuring out my mods, I have only 36 mods and I load into a campaign with them works fine but the cutscenes i am just in water and I have to spawn a character in due to it not already being in
So this is my second time asking this, im on Xbox and I keep having issues downloading big mods, this one specifically keeps failing (rhs), I’ve cleared all my mods, I’ve cleared my reserved space, I’ve even deleted and reinstalled the whole game and all of its files, but it still keeps failing, at my wits end here with this as its making me feel like arma was a waste of my time
And I’m saying that with 2000 hours under my belt, but the fact that I can’t play any big server is getting tiring
Might be related to the console space limitations. AFAIK 1.7 Exp increases it from 10GB to 50GB
The issue is mod capacity on Xbox in reserved space is 24 gigs, whereas rhs is only 6 gigs
Finally managed to get RHS working and installed but now some 19Mb mod is doing the same 😂
Only took like a week to get RHS to download lol

current (1.6x) space for both xbox and ps5 is 25GB. Xbox will get an increase to 50GB with 1.7x. using a variable space allocation that it is available for this particular platform. As far as i know, the download speeds limits will remain the same.

The SVD definitely did have a deployable bipod. I have seen pictures of it
quick google and atleast one website says that the svd was seen with rpd, pkm or rpk bipods as a field mod

I think the M21 wasn't really a true sniper like the SVD. It was more of an upgrade to the M14.

Does anyone have some map suggestions? Currently looking for a new terrain for my unit to play on. Has to be larger than 6x6km (the lower size, the denser it needs to be. cant be mainly fields or woods if its small), cant be flat or with low hills mainly, not extremely wooded. We are just getting off belleau wood and the flatness across the entire map was a pretty big issue. Currently looking at Zimnitrita, Nizla island, and the Faircroft Islands

This depends on the purpose. If you are just trying to take a screenshot in workbench, you can use H to hide things. But you can't actually change the map itself.

How can somebody change stamina consumption rate in workshop for GM scenario ?

Our server UNSC Battlegroup Athens (128-slot) Gamemaster has recently blown up in popularity, but the past few nights we’ve been dealing with what looks like exploit/hacker behavior.
What’s happening:
- Players getting randomly deleted/killed
- Gear/entities spawning uncontrollably
- Server eventually crashes/timeouts
What we’ve tried:
- Full server reset from scratch
- Only myself as admin/GM
- Reviewing logs during incidents (no clear player tied to it)
- Adding anti-cheat
Even with all that, it’s still happening at high player counts (100–128).
Questions:
- Has anyone seen this before on high-pop servers?
- Any known mod/RPC/loadout exploits going around right now?
- Best ways to harden a server against this?
Appreciate any help — trying to keep things stable for the community.
Are you banning them with BattlEye RCON? The standard Reforger ban is not sufficient to deal with those guys

true, I'd like to see civies in reforger only so the FIA faction can blend in with them, give another avenue of gameplay with the faction(though I suspect a lot of warcrimes will happen in the process)
*Not an official answer: If you listen to the radio in the game, from time to time it plays a message urging civilians to evacuate the island - so it is implied every civilian already left.

I believe in Reforger engine start and engine stop input actions could not share identical binding, as one of them would stop working then. Maybe it got fixed over time, but it was impossibiru at least in the past.
Yes you can use same key but it always applies the HOLD modifier for start. Even if you choose a different key for stop, what you pick for start is always HOLD.
Currentlty engine startup requires you to keep holding the key until engine is running, so input filter choice is limited to either Press or Hold indeed.
What I'm talking about is using Timeout prefix (HoldOnce input filter) for engine shutdown, it's currently impossible afaik

I have allready played with SCR_CharacterStaminaComponent put the values to the max and still if the character has above certian weight he is unable to sprint.

Enfusion engine is very CPU intensive, and it will get more intensive with more features being added
Recently (due to the 'staggering' work of our internet regulator), I haven't been able to access SE servers. The screenshots show examples of errors and non-working services. I tried to solve the problem using zapret-discord-youtube, specifically by adding server links to the list-general file. But the problem still persists. Services like GearUp didn't help, and my ISP doesn't know what's wrong. If any RU players have had this problem, how did you solve it—or did you not solve it at all?

there is folder called utils, and file called "test zapret.ps1"
run it, press 1 twice to set test settings. after tests it will show you the best strategy. Then start service.bat, update IPset list (7)
set game filter to TCP and UDP, check that IPset filter set to [loaded], then go to ipset-all.txt and add problematic server in format x.x.x.x/32 and only after that start your best strategy and start the game

ACE Weather Dev (https://reforger.armaplatform.com/workshop/667B230F9505C8BA-ACEWeatherDev) does exactly what youre looking for, although if you use it you have to use all ACE Dev versions of their mods, as the Dev branch and regular branch can't be used together
Does the ace dev stuff work in gamemaster? Last time i tried it didnt work but that could have been an issue on my end
They do, they work in all vanilla gamemodes but need compatibility mods for certain modded gamemodes (such as overthrow and freedom fighters). If youre using them in SP youll need to make sure you have the ACE mods you want active along with all their dependencies, and only ACE dev or regular ACE. I.e if you're using ACE Weather Dev you have to use ACE Core Dev, etc and cannot have ACE Core or ACE Medical (non-dev version) active at the same time

On your back? On your side maybe, like Arma 3. There are other stances I would want first, like side step in Arma 3 for one. Lets you expose even less of your body than just leaning.

to take over a harbor. i needed ai logistics to run supplies so i can respawn another heli or lav.
note that its a pretty much empty server, just me and 2 russians on the other side (was playing on american)
its not a good use of supplies but it does make me being a 1 man army much easier to manage being able to use rocket helis yknow

why is the technology in reforger so old when it takes place 2 years before desert storm?

There's 6 vehicles in the game for US. I know at least 5 were used in desert storm. All the weapons were too. Other than maybe the sniper rifle.

M16A2s were ubiquitous in Desert Storm, ALICE rigs and PASGT was the standard. There are weapons, vehicles, and "tech" available or even widespread in 1989 that are not in Reforger due to engine limitations (IR, thermal optics, tracked vehicles, etc) or because the devs simply didn't add them

That's just due to the devs not adding those things in, you'd have to probably do a deep dive through old discord messages here to find out the reasoning tbh. My understanding is that they purposely chose to keep the overall scope small, and adding those vehicles would necessitate the systems they come with, such as GPS/BFT, thermals, turret stabilization, etc which i don't believe is currently implemented in any way in base game. Much easier to have older vehicles which are entirely or almost entirely manually operated and hand cranked

Mostly because there's no in-engine system to handle guided munitions or really anything other than dumb rockets. We got a Stinger teaser for A4 already so my hopes are high that we'll see a much more fleshed out roster of equipment and vehicles
also stuff like TOW missiles or kornets for AT, but TBH APCs are pretty underwhelming

They're great as guns on wheels, but an M2 equipped humvee can do the same thing for cheaper

I love the late cold war in general so as long as the base game is more fleshed out than Reforger i think it will be

i just kinda slowly drifted away from reforger tbh, the lack of teamwork is very saddening

Arma 2 was 2009.
Arma 3 was 2013, 4 years later. Arma 3 Apex came out in 2016, and that's when development started winding down on Arma 3 (and on to other projects, like what became Reforger).
Arma Reforger was in early access in 2022, 6 years after Apex.
Arma 4 is planned for 2027, 14 years after A3 initial release, 11 years after A3 Apex, and 5 years after Reforger Early Access. This is the longest gap between mainline entries to the series.

To say that Arma 4 will be like Arma 3 early access, with no tracked vehicles, planes, Eden, or Zeus is a bit silly. We already have a tracked vehicle confirmed to be coming for Reforger and we have had Game Master in Reforger since early access release.
I would expect at least some basic fixed wing content in A4 at launch. I don't know that I'd expect an editor at launch (besides the workbench).
But with all the time they've had, and with Reforger almost surpassing Arma 3 early access in content, I think it is pretty safe to say that Arma 4 will have more content than that.
I'd just say, honestly, if we get Game Master in ARMA 4 and not an updated Eden then I ain't leaving ARMA 3... simple.

I think shortly before the Gulf War they were getting rid of the Sheridans in their Recon Vehicle Company so they trialed the LAV-25 but didn't end up using them in the long run. From wikipedia:
The Army borrowed at least a dozen LAV-25s for use by the 82nd Airborne Division, 3 squadron-73rd Armor for a scout platoon during the Gulf War. These LAV-25s were returned to the Marine Corps after the conflict.
I didn't know about this either until WARNO used that as justification for including them in their 82nd Airborne Division deck.

But for a business stand point, again a cold war game is not so clever. You already see what most players are playing, and thats not cold war. So selling later A4 DLCs with cold war or modern setting. It's obvious which one will sell better.

The good news is that a lot of Cold War stuff can be used for modern day.
2010-2019 is much closer to the most contemporary period then 1989 is. arguably the only core difference between 2010's and 2020's would be lack of FPV , and 1 way suicide drones being used. Just as a very generalized overview of course.

They large majority already switched to development of arma 4 over a year ago. It's only a handful of people working on Reforger, they have more content planned then on the roadmap to fill the gap to A4 release.

Foggys survival, me and the boys have been loving it on my server
Was playing rubber band rangers earlier with a friend and after they spawned the mi24 with the gunner controlled cannon and pilot controlled AA missiles and dumbfire rockets we couldn't figure out how to swap to the(what we think are wire guided) missiles. Pressing and holding V didnt change anything and didnt see anything else in the controls so does anyone know the keybind for it?
Pretty sure only spearhead uses it so just search "spearhead" and basically all of their servers are UHC

Suppressors (black) at sergeant

Ranking up is achieved by basically just playing, and rank resets when the match is over and does not carry over between matches or servers

Have you ever considered adding base colors to the vests rather than having MCAM or AOR2? What I mean by this, for example, is that when you customize your character in the game, for instance, on PC, you can press X to customize an item. What if you did that and got the different camo versions of vests and prefabs? Like sorting them out into Assault, Breacher, Sniper, LMG, and beyond that. Colors for the camos and whatnot. Just a thought. Like I said just a genuine curiosity. Please and thanks in advance as well as apologies.
considering the fact that vanilla arsenal is already overcrowded, and it has no filters to speak of for whatever reason, so it shows everything in a long list, no, we don't consider that viable for the forseable future, unless the arsenal in itself is refactored to something that is closer to A3 or different, yet modern UI

It came from a place of weapons and gear enthusiasm. Been into guns and military and all that stuff for over 20 years and have been with you guys since Arma 3 and thats actually what prompted the question. Because in GM View you have the 3 arsenal boxes, one with a Bullet shape, the three bullets and the vest shape. Thats what lead me down the path of thinking about this.

Where did you get the AI? If you got them from the small barracks those cannot be recruited.

The game already does this. It should save every 10 mintues. You need to use -LoadSessionSave (think thats correct) Not specifying a save loads the latest save. I run my server, same map, for a week or more and we shut down and resume multiple times.

DDoS is very common for servers and very rare for players unless there's a server admin doing it - 9 times out of 10 it's going to be the server getting attacked, not you specifically 😛

as far as i know, the arenal has a supply looking icon due to the fact that it'd spawn more supplies in connected bases in legacy conflict
Those icons are sometimes all wrong compared to what actually has been built in the base. At least in 1.6 HQC.

This terminology is generally military acronyms. They aren't specific to Reforger or any other game.

Most likely they use different versions of the mod hence it needs to update/downgrade

if server A is running version X and server B is running version Y, your local files will need to be updated / downgraded to match server version. Server owners can lock specific mod to a set version (up to 3 previous version afaik)
there is nothing you can do outside of manually backup various version of the mod locally

Maybe in Arma 4 idk. Would be dope if smaller bases couldn't spawn more influential vics. Like only mil bases can spawn MBTs and IFVs. Airbases can only spawn something like a mi 26 and obviously fixed wing. Would make it so that in Arma 4, players would also cap bases on what type of vehicles they can get out of it.

But the heavier stuff would be only spawnable at military bases like mil base levie, so think T-72s, BMPs and all. Airbases could get Mi-8s and Mi-24s out, and hoping Mi26 as well.

What have you not figured out? I run a modded conflict dedicated. Have no issue shutting it down and resuming where we left off mutliple times per day and throughout the week. The only caveat I can think of is it autosaves approximately every 10 minutes.

Its a major update but there is no date set for it. Updates dont get dates and at most you will get the countdown 3 days before update

my ping was sitting at about 100ms which for a NA player isnt bad but i did notice a lot of performance issues and other funky stuff

what confused me is i shoot in long burst of like 10 to 15 rounds which would drop anyone easy but he just stood there and tanked it i put all 10 rounds square in his chest from 15 feet away didnt miss a single shot and he still killed me
i also shot a guy right between the eyes with a makarov and it still took another 4 or 5 bullets to kill him

So real quick lads, do AI mortar operators account for wind or are they not smart enough to do that?
Well I can't say for sure, but one scenario we played had mortar set so it knew player location. The mortar fire hit where you were located, down the small house you might be in or even small shed, until you are not there by killing you, or you moved, in which case it followed you. Very unrealistic. This particular mod is known to implement console or arcade like features so it is possible they disabled wind affecting the rounds. Assuming the modder did not disable wind affecting rounds, I would say AI accounts for it.

Do the training first and then hop on an official Conflict HQ server. Or if you want some practice against AI first you can join a Combat Ops or play the SP missions

because consistently when I am a squad leader in multiplayer and I've put down the recruitable AI, I have to like use the command wheel a couple of times before it gives me the recruit option. and I do like follow me twice and then it will give me the recruit option
I experience the same. Approach AI and try to recruit, but instead of "Recruit" there are just commands. I usually have to select a command then appoach again and recruit. This is just with the first one. I can approach another right after and recruit is available.

best to keep the gunshot direction in mind as you flank, you wont win the combat cycle because he expects and knows where you are, peeking is asking for headshots
If you have the dudes just spray into the bushes, aim for the floor to get his legs to prevent any manuver from the rat
I dont think people engage from deep in the forest often, usually the borders. suppress fire is more likely to hit a tree deeper into a forest

I try to report it to my squad and platoon, but they usually do absolutely nothing about it.

I would suggest, that you find a group- squad that you regulary play with or find a community server that cares about Teamwork, that way your squad will care about your callouts. Binos will find anything within a couple of hundreds of Meters, just slowly pan from one side to the other and than back.

How do I improve visibility and clarity at longer distances?
I think for Arma games you gotta have the anti-aliasing graphics settings enabled to make out shapes at a distance. I find one of the *AA settings like MSAA to x2 or something really helps visually for longer distances
What resolution are you running? That will have big impact... even on what settings are able to improve. I run 3840x1600 and have hardware AA at 2x. Post processing AA > none.

I'm on 2560x1440 with MSAA at 2x & SMAA high. Everything at distance (above 400m) appears slightly pixelated

Best I can do now is describing, for example on surfaces you'd typically find aliasing (trusses, telephone wires, etc) there is still noticeable aliasing despite the AA settings
Regardless I think starting from a clean slate will help most

Move all but the inputusersettings one. Start game and it will recreate the two you moved. If it don't fix the issue, you can move them back.

Are there server side distance view settings? Its so annoying flying with a helicopter and you have to be stupidly close to a base to know where to shoot at because user placed entities only spawn in at close range even with distance settings on max
Yeah, same as your game settings you can set the server up to 12.000 meters. Or you can use mods that make the distance even bigger.
Default server settings are 1.500 m so if you don't change it yourself that's as far as it lets you see.
but does that affect only viewing distance in general or the spawning of entities

There is no exclusive fullscreen in Reforger. DX12 does not support exclusive natively and I think Reforger is DX12.

When using keyboard to steer vehicles the wheels slowly turn whilst on controller they snap. Is it possible to emulate this on controller in game as well?
Keyboards are not proportional. Its an all or nothing situation so the rate is controlled. Controllers are proportional so the ability for the player to control the turn proportionately is already there. I think it would take a mod that adjust the actual turn rate when using a controller but not sure one exists.

command truck gives like 2km of radio range and construction truck does nothing by itself but you can use it to build a base and then set up a radio on it to make its range 2km, but the base will be seen by the enemy if they have radio range to it and you need to place a request to build the base

might mean some file corruption on your system. Try verify the game install files
It doesn’t happen to me, it happens to PlayStation users in my server and I doubt it’s cs of corrupted files because even uninstalling the game and installing back the mods they still can join

Removing specific mods that didn’t cause the issue before seem to fix it temporarily but as soon as I add another mod doesn’t matter if it’s new or old there is high chances that issue appears again for some users

Does the game save locally hosted MP scenarios, so players can do a scenario in sessions (and switch between SP and MP on the same scenario)? And if it does, what does the persistence framework add to this?
I tried deleting some of my Mods, and now it just crashes my game on the inital loading screen. I have tried uninstalling it, as well as verifying the game files. Anyone have a solution?

Who knows how to transfer multiplayer server mods to my own build? I liked the mods on the server and wanted to make a build specifically with those mods, but I couldn't find a way to do it.

No, I was asking about something else. Is it possible to copy a server build for a local server (for example, to practice with weapons from a mod)? I have more than 400 addons downloaded, and I don't really want to spend an hour or two to repeat the server build.
If I am understanding your question correctly, yes. You just need to copy the mods from your game mods folder to the appropropriate mod folder of your server. They do not have to be downloaded again. Create a local dedicated and load the mods that are running on the server you are trying to mimic.
you would have to look at the list of mods a server has and rebuild that into your local server config
