all so far on the roadmap all it shows if wheeled vehicles which I hope at least we get an m113 APC because it plays a big role for the US military like for mech platoons and cavalry.
is there a way in Gamemaster to make ur own conflict type gamemode? I was playing in gamemaster and the entire thing with supplies and building does not apply to the gamemaster mode or even going up to a radio and trying to get comms up.

Might be Arma Reforger in several months once the AI is more advanced... afaik both games are mainly multiplayer with limited support for bots, e.g. at the Squad shooting range
However there's official mod support for Arma Reforger and some limited mission-making

Squad is PvP based and MP only while Reforger is PvPvE right now due to server problems more PvE based and also SP.

Yes in this case you are much better served with Squad.
Also to me it prbably has some of the best VFX of any military based game to date.
I'm totally not into PvP but the VFX on their own would make it worth getting + its continuously developed for many years so its in a rly good state overall.
There's way more populated servers on squad vs reforger, and if you want to compare the 2. Squad is a full release title while reforger is not and atm Squad over reforger imo.
Nit to mention the amount of detail put in, especially with the vehicles. Igniting the ammo cache in a tank is just beautiful to see. Just to be clear I don't own squad (have friends that do) but watch alot of yt vids on it.

I do not own it as well but i always watch some YT videos just to see what they have added/improved.
But well Squad originated from a modding community so those guys ( Dev's ) are highly passionated about their work and thats what you can defenetly see.

From a player point of view i guess it gets boaring pretty fast + if you don't like to mess with the Workbench there rly isn't much to do.
Yeah pretty much, but by the 1.0 release Reforger could be a good game. From now to 1.0 is like 2 different games, so atm it's up in the air. Personally I think they'd benefit from bringing new features with every major update, sure the milestones would have less to them overall, but there's still the content (like helicopters) that would imo be good enough.
Even tho i much more prefere creative games where you are able to do/modify stuff.
In terms of milsim BI always was and always will be my #1 choise!
Reforger is still in Early Access. It's very similar to how Arma 3 was when it came out to early access, too. There weren't any armored vehicles or helicopters available in A3 back then. Just Stratis and those little MRAPs, no Altis either. The BTR-70 puts Reforger ahead in that sense, but otoh the Ai can't use it yet.
If you want to play a mature mil sandbox with a ton of content and features, I'd rather recommend A3 for now.
I agree I just think it would boost the player count, and keep it up if BI rolled out more of the smaller things coming in the milestone updates. Kinda like they are doing with this next major update and the scopes there adding in early. If they keep doing that we might see more players, might not either though. That said most ppl say there's nothing to Reforger and it needs more so 🤷

Yeah same I have session and it's about to come out on the 22nd of September. Been awesome watching it progress into what it is today.
Let's say they rush something on the roadmap out sooner, and then that breaks everything and makes Reforger unplayable plus making them do 10x as much work as if they'd been let to do everything in peace on their own pace. Then what? I'm sure all the people demanding more content would be more than understanding, and not wondering out loud "How could they push out something so obviously broken?"

Not quite... while Arma 3 launched in Early Access with only four wheeled vehicle types (Hunter, Ifrit, Offroad, Quadbike), it also came with two basic helicopter types (xH-9, PO-30 Orca), the Assault/Rescue Boat, and the armed Speedboat, for eight vehicle types overall...
Reforger came with six wheeled vehicle types, however the roadmap only adds (and thus BI only promises) two ambulances, two transport helicopters, two amphibious light armored vehicles, a passenger car, a van, and an unspecified Flatbed truck...
That said, Reforger did come with (one) wheeled APC and two cargo trucks whereas it took a few months for Arma 3 to get any of those... however, that took less time than it'll take for Reforger to get Ground Support's ambulances 😬 otoh all of the current vehicles are light enough that 12.7 mm/14.5 mm can defeat them, to say nothing of the launchers

How do I make a co op against AI for my friend and I on xbox
Simplest one I believe would be to host a Game Master game mode... then the GM can place AI and stuff and you guys can play that way. The other not so simple way is to delve in the workbench and create a mission.
I think the workbench is quite easy once you get the hang of it... it can be overwhelming at first. Check out some youtube video tutorial about it. Also check out the enfusion section on this discord

I'd like to see some of the World Editor waypoints come to both GM and to the players' commands-for-AI... without those it feels sparse, the roadmap's revealed commands being more like Ghost Recon Wildlands and Breakpoint than like Arma 3
e.g. the GM at least has Forced Move for a 'stealth' movement waypoint/order (in the sense of ignoring enemies instead of engaging them), whereas players won't have it if the roadmap's Ground Support section isn't leaving anything out

no under terrain. same way as before. only thing better is that nawmesh allows far better AI navigation in such constructions

MFD are in the mig-29, Su-27, Yak-141, F-16, F-15c, F-18, AH-64, AH-1Z, these are the earliest adopters of them, so probably not for the lav-25 either and for the BDRM its just like BTR

well i dont know how your going to fix that??? I mean to me its generally better for infantry in reforger. than any previous arma titles. And your never going to be able to stop it. Who's going to stop you from just lowering your graphics settings?
the fake ground plane that gets placed to simulate grass is the most effective way of doing it, its the best for performance, maybe reforger will use that with some other technique like the one from tarkov. but to render all that grass is a very taxing.

A curious query, but how does Reforger and potential future games on Enfusion handle a possible gamer set ups having gear like: VR goggles, omnidirectional treadmills and handheld rifle like controllers? Or even potential haptic suits and gloves like in Ready Player One?
I can't speak as to any other peripherals, however there has been some work done with Enfusion and VR:We didn’t start from scratch. We reused a lot from our Enforce and RV engines. Enfusion is kind of a mashup of the two, though many things have been rewritten or upgraded. We also deleted thousands of lines of code knowing that we’d need to write that code again, but better or different. But you can’t develop an engine forever; you must have a game project in mind. Our first project was to “port” the beautiful island of Tanoa from Arma 3 into Enfusion and run it on PlayStation 4. Tanoa was chosen because it was big enough and included a lot of entities, so it was a good test for the engine. We did other small internal projects on top of Enfusion back then, including one prototype which was released on Steam with the code name Project Lucie. Fun fact – I was the one integrating the Oculus Rift headset and controllers with Enfusion.Pavel Šafář, now project lead on the Enfusion engine https://origin.80.lv/articles/the-development-process-behind-bohemia-interactive-s-enfusion-engine/

I have a friend that just bought Arma Reforger on his Xbox Series S today and is unable to shoot his weapon. He tried uninstalling, switching his safety off and on, changing key bind, and going through tutorial with no fix. Is anyone familiar with this bug or have a resolution??? He's pretty bummed to have purchased the game and unable to play it.
I think in the tutorial you have to be in the right spot to shoot. that or his hand torturing's device has a problem with the same switch that is used to fire

Is anyone working on a civilians mod, like an army unit in gm that is non hostile so we can have like town evacuations and guerrilla warfare/terrorist scenarios

I know it sounds stupid but maybe have him try to melee. A common glitch we have on our GM server is when you select your saved loadout, your unable to fire any weapon in your hand until you melee. That’s the only thing I can think of. Unfortunately reforger is pretty buggy for some and works fine for others. So he might just have to wait a week or two for another update.

Any updates around Reforger monetization BIS? I want to build a server and some mods, but will be less likely to if I'm operating at a loss due to unrealized gains by not doing something else
lol. generally speaking mods are not allowing commercialization / monetization of any sorts for goos reasons.
also all mods are operating at a loss, yet their authors are the ones not allowed since ever to monetize their products

Monetization = good, not everyone has infinite time to work on developing mods for a game, might actually give people some incentive to build quality mods and frameworks

No updates since what was posted on the Enfusion engine's public FAQ:We're not considering this option at the moment (beyond our current Creator DLC initiative), but we'll be making that decision in the future on a case by case basis.
you probably wont see that until the game matures since everything is evolving it would be a headache and a full time job just keeping up with it

Most likely it will be similar in terms of time and effort for their authors to port mods forwards to what it was from A2 to A3

Arma 2 maps run in Arma 3 basically as-is (except they need that gamma-correction file or whatever it was) iirc, provided you have all the assets available. Unless I'm wrong? But that's just maps, other stuff does require porting.
Reforger mods are very likely going to need some work to function in A4, but the process is supposed to be much easier than it was in RV engine games.
Porting from A2 to A3 was relatively easy, and I expect AR to A4 will be easier.
Of course you will always have improvements on the engine which need to be accounted for, but with the Workbench being the main tool for all Enfusion projects in the future I'm positive that compatibility is somewhat build-in.
And if you have the source files (of models/animations that is), it should be as easy as reimport into the new environment with a few small touches here and there.
Script-wise it depends on how much (legacy) code will remain in future iterations of Enfusion, but that's a problem for tomorrow.

Depends on the specific matter, but a common one currently is: if someone is unable to connect to a server because of corrupted/outdated addons, they do not need to reinstall the game. They should be able to delete your addons folder/mods and rejoin the server again (it will redownload them correctly).

from my understanding, the mods for reforger will be cross compat with arma 4 and im guessing all the assets in reforger will be copy pasted into arma 4?

so is arma reforger a short term deal, or a mid term deal, with the length that it will be supported

if you play arma 3 or the older games nothing in terms of gameplay is new. but what is available I can say without a doubt its a evolution / rebirth of arma. arma 1 to arma 3 was a little drops of improvements, enfusion is like a river
i have picked that up, the interactive vehicles, the over-rall detail and land scape are stunning, its just there are so few people playing
mods will not work in a4 by default. But the process for their author to port forwards will be pretty simple (similar to A2 -> A3)

Yes, Reforger is basically a prototype minimum viable product to iron out the kinks of the new Enfusion Engine, and to get modders familiar with it. Mods will likely require some porting effort to get to Arma 4, but much easier than A2 > A3. Ease of modding and better performance were the two main priorities of Enfusion.
Has anyone tested/measured Reforger's input latency compared to that of A3? I feel like Reforger takes longer to register my clicks compared to A3. I mean the time measured from when I click to when my weapon fires....

Cod, ghost recon, lol even MSFS feels better better to play than reforger on xbox
does cod have advanced ballistics calculations?, does it have a Realtime weather system?, does it handle literally hundreds of interactable objects in the same world, including players? the game is built differently to serve the purpose of being an accurate battle simulation, the optimizations are definitely a leap from arma 3 but hold on tight because there most likely will be more optimizations in future

Also, fortunately, the target and the gameplay is no where near the same. Arma has been primarily aimed so far at a more mature audience, mainly on PC, i have no idea how gameplay is on consoles, might be more limited than on PC....

I saw a lot of people say that they didn't hate the 2035 setting for being set in the future, but how everything in it managed to become outdated by 2018 cos it wasn't futuristic enough.
tbh the "conservative decline" approach was a very reasonable and safe way to predict the future 22 years ahead, but it was still a miss.
i didn't like the 35 settings because weapons, vehicles and uniforms looked like shit

i did not but i remember reading something about it being a space game first then they changed it.
Yet another issue is how most people were unable & unwilling to learn to use many 2035 assets like drones. Shit, I told my guys about the old-ass M47 Super Dragon that came with ACE3 and it always went out the other ear, until at the end of one mission I pulled one from the Arsenal, assembled it, and fired it. That finally got it to register in their brains and we started loading up a couple into our chopper every mission from then on. People have a real had time bothering with unfamiliar stuff.

if you place the mag in your quick select bar you can change ammo types
however its a stupid work around and something should be done around it
This is probably going to be one of those cases where finding an alternative to the mousewheel menu could prove very challenging. I can't really think of anything besides holding R and selecting ammo type to load with a mousewheel menu.

The problem with the wheel menu wasn't the wheel menu anyway, it was that everythign was there. Oops, your mouse's wheel-sensor recognized a blip at the last millisecond! Stand up from prone and switch to your launcher instead, while getting shot by the enemy infantry!

But that's not the issue the old wheel menu had, it was how half the time you ended up selecting the wrong option. Mousewheels are often just too unstable to begin with, and too many options coming and going as they please screwing everything up.
How does that work? I've got my M203 selected and two 40mm types in slots 7 & 8, but no dice.
you might have to shoot them first, or manual unload them in the menu. with the weapons you can just change magazine types like tacer or use the rpk mag
it should be this way: hold r and scroll to pick the mag/type of ammo you want to load
ctrl+r to check mag
I like to switch my rifle mag types straight from the inventory, no need for quick slots.

To me a "listen" server is a dedicated server, but just googled it so listen server is only inside gameclient hosted server oke
The wiki lists a large range for ports that it uses, but doesn't say which one you have to actually forward

We're busy playing Arma 3 because it has some actual missions and content to play with. We don't really care that Reforger is still in it's stupid babby stage.

I mean reforger isnt really trying to be arma 4. I get why they are skipping tanks. They want to try to perfect a multiplayer game that works for the arma series. So they are focusing on player movement and game mode type stuff. Arma never had a "good" multiplayer mode if that makes any sense. They always sort of felt janky. They want to develop a arma multiplayer that is really really fun standalone. Mods will fill in all those other gaps
the base building stuff is evidence of that
i think arma reforger multiplayer is in a better place in a lot of places than arma 3 multiplayer

in arma 3 aside from vehicles ballistics penetration only seemed to matter if there was a guy on the other side of a tin wall, you could shoot him through it
i have accidentally killed a teammate by accidently bumping my mouse getting up from my chair, the bullet hit the asphalt and then ricochet and hit my buddy walking next to me, thank god for weapon safety!

if you mean the trucks with the long range radio on the back, they extend radio range and troops can respawn on their position when they are deployed

and by extending radio range do you mean that they just make it so you capture farther from the positions you currently have
yep, so if you wanted to cut off a heavily defended town that you couldn't spare the manpower to capture you would use it to extend the range of your radios just enough to flank them and cut off their supply line

A world of difference there (not least since it's more often than not a lot more recent than 300 years) from what's going with Reforger...
The roadmap is for what content is to be released before the 1.0 update arrives, which was originally supposed to occur around the middle of 2023... now, who knows 🤷 That said, the roadmap did promise support post-1.0 all the way up until Arma 4 is released... but no ETA on that of course

The E-Tool pocket in the Alice system is part of the gear atm in the game (f.e. in the Mchinegunner belt), the E-tool is also a prefab.

The E-Tool in ACE3 is prob one of the most OP items you can take. You can fortify just about any place in a minute or less. Of course "digging" trenches is a bit weird cos you can't go under the terrain mesh, but you can place/"raise" objects on top of it.

i'm more about if it's more playable. like for example less crashes and better servers
AI doesn't know how to drive vehicles yet for example. That's the kind of "not ready" we're talking about. It's been very stable for me just doing Game Master single-player, but people who try to play online have had a terrible experience so far. Performance-wise, it looks a lot better than Arma 3 however, much of the graphics the load has been shifted to the GPU and so on.
Yeah, it's still pretty unstable in multiplayer.
Unfortunately a smoke grenade is the only working concealment at this time
We find it to be inconsistent a lot cause we do deploy smokes if we take heavy contact and need to bound away from the fight and they still shoot through it with accuracy
Yea smokes work great unless your fighting such a large force. All the smokes do is make the enemy not like know where your at but they know your there somewhere. So basically a small unit of soldiers shooting won’t be able to shoot everywhere at once so to speak. But if it’s a large force of enemies if there all shooting through the smoke there’s only so much area that can’t be hit if that makes sense
The thing is, that wasn’t our experience. It was a small force and they still had pin point accuracy through the smoke a lot of times.

That’s what we do as well. Either using hard cover, defilade, trees or even prone if there’s no hard cover around. We don’t like hanging around much either if we don’t have a 2-1 against them. It’s a little bit of a buzz killer when that happens lol.

is it just me or are the laws unusually weak, i remember once shooting a law at the side of a btr 2 times and it didn’t die or kill crew
The btr most definitely got a buff. Before 40mm, law and rpgs would kill the crew with one shot. now the 40mm doesn't even tickle it and it can take two or up to four rockets to kill one btr.
Question: Will the vehicle turret bug (The m2 on the humvee and the btr turret) be fixed in the next 0.9.6 update?
For clarification its the bug when the gun is shooting on your screen but isn't on everyone screen and it does no damage to anyone or anything.

Yeah its weird, you can pen the armor and kill the crew with the m14 or m60 but a 40mm HEDP round can't pen it.
I think they made it this way for balance because the HEDP round was like a tactical nuke before. Sit beside a road with a launcher and delete any vehicle that try to pass you
i mean for cars a 40mm to the engine should destroy it and the car, and a 40 mm should do some damage to btrs and humvee
and then the rocket launchers should be able to kill the btr and humvee easily, especially with a shot to the engine or the area where most of the crew are

A somewhat technical question regarding the Enfusion engine; would a server be able to benefit from a GPU for calculations, or will it only use the CPU?
With the RV engine the GPU would offload to the CPU when the graphics surpassed the GPU capabilities. Of course this isn't really a problem anymore (after years of hardware improvements), but it would be interesting to understand how Enfusion is handling CPU <-> GPU, and especially for servers.
Right now no, but there are examples of where we could use it, for example:
AI perception of smoke - they are not supposed to perceive anything behind smoke, right now that is on the CPU, in theory we could use the GPU (if one is present).
Sounds like something for on the backlog (low prio) then.
Especially for self hosted games (non-dedicated server), where the GPU is usually the strongest part nowadays.

I always wondered why smoke is such a difficult topic. Can't you just put an invisible sphere or ellipse like shape around the smoke and make it not "transparent" for AI like a solid object? Same for grass and bushes?
And if they get shot from inside the smoke they just fire back in the rough direction of where the shots come from?

I wasn't directly involved with the issue but I believe for the smoke the problem was specifically that they have levels of transparency that changes over time, so the usual tracing didn't work with them.
i’ve got a question with my Dedicated server, xbox players can load in fine with mods but once i load in with my PC it kicks them all, any fixes?

there is not something as arma should be, you know what i am trying to say, high quality scenarios, Zeus Mission from you team, but not some updates of conquer modes, i am not playing squad.
So, that's some information i got so far, but it might be not correct, idk.
But i do know that a few weeks before i did check the game, zeus mode, the Ai can still not drive a car, that's some point i feel shit, just, what i pay attention, likes some of the main part of arma3 as i mentioned are not developing.
What i do know is that it seems they try to develop the conquer mode, hard to imagine that, the experience of arma3's pvp mode is just like a bunch of people being snipers out of the town, and some people just wait for someone to rush to the tower, it's bad.
I did play the conquer mode as soon as the game released, but the experience was also bad, i don't know what it feels like now, but i did feel like it just like i just drive for a long distance to the point and try to ambush someone.
And one main reason i think it's dead, is that as you said, no many updates, in the first few week i thought there would be something to rapidly fix lots of bugs and maybe something content updates, but i waited for a long time is just a few updates for a few bugs.
Just feel like something you can put your hope is arma4, what i did just to buy a rough demo, that's it, take a look what arma4 might be
Yeah it's definitely rough and on life support in terms of players, the Zeus mode is imo pretty good, overall I feel as though this will be more functional as the milestone updates come through. At best I see it being like a standalone SOG Prarie Fire, at worst I see it as you say, just a stepping stone to Arma 4

I honestly feel bad for the devs a lot of times. They are trying so hard to make this amazing game for us (at half the price of most games) and people in here constantly complain and second guess them. Destruction has moved to a new system that is much more efficient replication and especially memory wise, but for now it doesn't handle new types of destruction (not that I know of). Basically everything that was destructible until now was just move to the new system.

Fair enough, I’d imagine doing player placed stuff can be difficult, but as long as I can destroy a building with HE-I or run over small trees and not come to a complete stop in my LAV I’d be happy.
Like petanek said, it doesnt add anything new and it has some limitations compared to the old one, but with this new system more destructibles can be added to a world without affecting performance that much.
The old system is still in the game and used for certain entities.

Indeed. The current implementation of the bipod is simply a gear and stance check for reduced recoil and sway. While these are fine, it's a fair gap from the A3 system where barrel placement in the environment (aka passive resting) and active bracing were options with or without a bipod and in various stances.

Yup, at this time the bipods have no effect when propping up the weapon (or your character's elbows) on an object unlike Arma 3
Why is the Experimental branch treated as a separate game instead of a beta branch of Reforger?
(Having it's own slot on the steam library instead of going into Reforger's Properties > Betas > Selecting the Experimental branch)
I think it would actually save time having the Experimental branch be a Beta under the main Reforger because wouldn't it mean it would treat it as a regular update and not require an extra 10 gigs to be used (I'm not a game dev and I'm sure there is a reason but I still just wanted to point this out as it may actually make more sense)

To elaborate on what RustyFork said, the vanilla (unmodded) game right now has only a tutorial and two game modes, Conflict (Team vs. AI vs. Team) and Game Master (equivalent to Arma 3's Zeus), only three factions (US, Soviet, FIA), a few weapons and vehicles for the US and Soviet sides (FIA have their own camouflage pattern, currently reuse Soviet weapons, and do not have vehicles), and only one terrain (a remake of Cold War Assault's Everon): https://reforger.armaplatform.com/game

Just to clarify, the number behind 0.9.x can be considered an "iteration number" and marks a minor update. This number is increased every time we prepare a new build for whatever reason be it fixes, tweaks, changes, or anything else.
Jumps from 0.9.5 -> 0.9.6 -> 0.9.9 -> 0.9.99999 -> 1.0.0 and such are purely manual and mark a major update. Internally, we are usually many weeks and hundreds of changes and fixes ahead of what players get to play. However, because those may not necessarily be stable or ready it takes a while to bring them to you. Some of those things we can deliver to you via minor updates. The rest needs to wait for when we decide it is time to make the switch.

If I have bought Arma Reforger on Xbox Series X can I get access to the workbench? I have a PC but I don't want to buy Reforger on steam as well as on console, I prefer playing on console since my PC isn't that good but still want to mod reforger using workbench
nope, and reforger workbench hardware requirements are the same as the game, so if you cannot handle the game, it is unlikely to handle the tools

Is there a zoomable map available outside of game? I'm trying to look up the town I was in when writing crash reports so I can't access the in game map.
