It's the host who has to do the work. If they've set it up correctly then clients can join like any other server.
If they haven't then there's no way you can join them.

I am having an issue with my view distance. The problem is that even if I max out my view distance, it just stays stuck at a very close distance visually, the fog is always there around 600m. Does anyone know how to fix it?

Not a crash. A force kill because you run -debug parameter.
This is the second report I get about that broken mod in one week.
I posted about their bugs on their workshop page but it doesn't seem like they'd fix it
Apparently it also breaks lighting on some other mod terrains, but they haven't fixed it in 2 years so probably no fix coming.

hello- I am trying to make a custom controller layout in Arma 3. I'm running into an issue mapping the look stick.
On the normal configuration the look stick works fine. However, if I make a custom binding where I assign the look left/right/up/down to my right stick it moves the view extremely slowly. Adjusting the sensitivity does nothing to increase this speed
is there some other binding I should use for the look stick on the controller other than the look left/right/up/down commands?
A friend of my has just reinstalled arma and they have previously purchased the DLC but they cant access it not they have reinstalled it
So, does the DLC come up in the owned products list? If not, it's an issue for Steam Support.
If it does and it's not downloading, right click the item in the library, and check that the DLC is set to download.
If it still doesn't, Steam Support. There is nothing we can do for him here besides ensuring it is active in the DLC list.
Hey I’m having trouble getting arma 3 to let me talk in game. I’ve been working at it for about an hour and a half now and I’m at a loss of what to do to fix it.
What are you using and what have you already tried?

ive tried restarting the game, testing my mic in different applications(which it worked in them all), using the config in game, verifying the integrety of the game files, restarting my pc, redownloading the game, and whatever i seen when i looked it up to troublshoot it myself before coming here.
also checked if i needed to update drivers

Yesterday we have restarted the arma dedicated server app 2 hours prior to the event. Somehow logging in as admin to pick mission didn't work, and mission didnt even start when 6 people voted for it (wtf?).
We had to restart server entire system PC and then it worked. Super strange. Does anyone know how that could even happen??
I have noticed that after a while, when I have more than 500-600 add-ons subscribed to as a Steam user, the add-ons start to disappear and Steam downloads them as if they were never subscribed to, even though they are (the launcher cannot detect this...) Is this a known problem that could be solved, or just a limitation of the system?

Well, first thing to ask with one-off symtoms is whether your server hardware is reliable. We had a case a few days ago where the server was throwing the missing-mod error in the RPT every time it created an object, but then the server is a 13900.

More descriptive. What mic? How does it plug in?
Do you see the mic active flag when you press the PTT keybind? What shows in the audio tab of settings?

when i key push to talk i see it activate on my end but my name doesnt show up that im talking. no ones able to hear me. im using a hyper x cloud core headset with a mic plugged into an adapter with a 3.5 jack and the adapter is plugged into the pc with a usb port. arma does not access my mic when i check my settings in windows and windows doesnt receive a requst from arma to access my mic.
this mic has worked for arma 3 before. i have tested it on multiple devices, applications, and other games and works everywhere else
and this is playing on vanilla servers only.
can anyone help me? Im running MRHMilSimTools and have been for several months at this point without issue. However while testing a map today, in multiplayer LAN, I keep getting this to pop up at start and not allowing me to spawn or respawn. I know its the MRH admin menu but i never use it and i havent had this issue appear. Even on old maps Ive already done ops on it is suddenly having this issue. so yeah... can anyone help me? and if this isnt the right spot i apologize.
a few quick notes is that I do have the auto failure to 100% in the settings, i have clicked all of the the buttons, i have done everything possible on the admin menu itself and i cant fix it
It seems that half the time, when I run arma3diag_x64.exe, it loads some mods I have downloaded, and half the time it doesn't. It doesn't seem to matter whether I have the mods activated or not in the normal launcher. Anyone know what causes this? I just run it directly from double clicking it in file explorer.
Hi Any ideas on how to fix downloading add-ons on Steam? I canceled all add-on subscriptions, but even after restarting Steam and my PC several times, Arma is still trying to download add-ons from the workshop, even though I don't have any subscriptions there.
try deleting them from the download cache folder

i guess your arma launcher has mods set that are not downlaoded so it tries to get them
what does it show in steam library UI right click ARMA 3 -> properties -> Workshop

it's not actually downloading anything? i was gonna say the steam servers for workshop subscriptions seems out of sync with some CDN somewhere so it's trying to retrieve your old list of subscribed mods

it should into temp folder and then move it, once its done,
you need to unsub in the workshop from all mods and restart steam possibly
Yes, it happened because I deleted all the workshop add-ons... then I restarted Steam and my PC... then I tried to download the add-ons again, but the mods got stuck at 100% after 6 hours at this value. When I opened the game, 3cb factions was actually downloading twice in a row and still didn't download... So I canceled everything again, and it has been stuck like this ever since.
Yes, I deleted everything again, restarted, etc., but the Steam UI says it's downloading the add-ons.
abort the download, delete it via steam, close steam and delete the download cache
Go into steam folder in windows and delete the contents of "downloading".
You can find it in "Steam\steamapps"

Hello, with reference to TFAR, has anyone ever experienced pushing other keys while holding CapsLock to disrupt the SR and LR push-to-talks?

When I hit ptt I See that it’s showing me in the bottom left of my screen that I’m trying to talk with the channel I have selected but my name doesn’t show up for myself or others that I am actively talking. And as far as profiling branch I have no idea what that is.
@stark pebble Right-click Arma 3 in Steam. Properties, betas, select "profiling - performance" from the dropdown. Then wait for steam to swap it over. Switch it back the same way (change to "none") when necessary.

Check from your .rpt file if you arent launching perf .exe, you may need rename arma3_x64.exe to arma3_x64_org.exe, and take copy of arma3profiling_x64.exe and rename that copy to arma3_x64.exe .
And you should able see in .rpt file ->

Arma generates an .rpt log file on every run. This log file contains a lot of information like the loaded mods or any errors that appear, and can be very useful for troubleshooting problems.
To get to your RPT files press Windows+R and enter %localappdata%/Arma 3

To share an rpt log here, please use a website like https://pastebin.com/ (Set expiry time to 1 week or less) to upload the full log, that way the people helping you can take a look at it and try to figure out with you the problem you encounter.
Note: RPT logs can hold personal information relevant to your system, the game or others.

I'm not sure what all this is for, steam update should replace the relevant binaries and I'd be very surprised if it failed to do so
The potential fix which is a part of perf/prof also shouldn't need the profiling specific binary so no need to go hunting for .exes
I'd say the only thing to look for right now is the .rpt for checking if the headset is recognised
You can also easily tell if you're running performance because it now appears on the launcher and the loading splash

not sure if this is a bug or a feature, bu every time i look at this destroyed lorry, my hud has this perculiar glitched effect. It only started happening once i had destroyed it
It's the heat haze (is that what it's called?) effect. Since the HUD is projected at infinity, I imagine the game thinks that it's behind the effect. Games tend to have lots of unsolvable issues like that.

Are you manual firing? If not, the AI has a lot of reasons why it doesn't like to fire sometimes.

Using the RHS mod, it often happens that the AI's dropped weapon spins in the air, which is quite frustrating...
hmm, not seen that. Usually your car just gets Arma'd by a javelin dropped in the road.
You can't prevent it. Best you can do is delete the simulatedWeaponHolder on spawn.
Can't remember having seen a spinning weapon either. Maybe flung in the air, like the body flip when killed. But always motionless afterwards.
In multiplayer they can spin. Especially if you eject dead units from vehicles etc

Your server most likely won't start not because of this warning. At least, I had the same one, and my server worked fine.

After animation preload is the server setup.
loading basic.cfg, loading server.cfg, port binding, connecting to steam..
If you run server with -netLog parameter, you might get more detail if it hangs somewhere in the server setup stage. It will log when it port binds and such
Removing the mods no issue but my server has been playing up, 0/0 players even when its off so I'm thinking something is wrong

Hello! Ony of my friends is having a peculiar problem joining the server I'm hosting. We're ~4 people playing in total and he's the only one having the issue. He gets stuck in an infinite loading screen when joining using "Profile 1", When he makes a new profile, i.e. "Profile 2" He's able to connect without any issue, but as soon as any setting is changed, either graphical or controls he's unable to reconnect. If changes are made during gameplay he's not disconnected and can play without any issue. Any ideas for a solution? Arma 3 is recently re-installed, iirc PC was wiped a few months back as a precaution for this issue and it still presists. (asked about this a while ago to no success)

Hey need some help with this. I believe I've seen it once before but forgot the fix for it.
50% of people in my unit are crashing when loading into the server with the common 0xC00000005 - STATUS_ACCESS_VIOLATION issue. For some context, we have recently merged our dagger island training map to the updated 2025 version. Since then, this issue has been happening.

You're running perf branch there. Try stable.

Submit the .mdmp and .rpt to dedmen directly if you haven't already used the automatic reporter

I've done it for different texture versions of Chernarus & Napf. Only thing I can think of is that some objects might really not like spawning underground.

looks like CloudFlare outage is impacting BattleEye service and that is also impacting Arma 3, your game might not start

TLDR; obs cant capure any ingame video from arma 3 sync. does anyone know how to fix it?
its my second time i am trying to stream game capture from a3sync but obs cant recognise it as any open application nor as a valid source. i would love to fix that issue without having to use monitor capture. does anyone have experience with any issues and fixes that relate to that?
what is A3Sync?
arma 3 sync is a modloader which allows you to use mods that are outdated/not updated yet to avoid compatibility issues or bugs that might occour with newer version of the mods in question
you have to use it to play older updates of mods since the arma 3 launcher automatically forces the mod updates

BattlEye might block game capture.
Window capture probably doesn't work when the game is fullscreen.
But you can switch the game to fullscreen windowed instead
i only play games in windowed fullscreen but it doesnt make a difference which i choose sadly
arma 3 from the arma 3 launcher can be captured in any mode whether fullscreen, windowed, or windowed fullscreen
I don't know how arma 3 sync would do that.
A mod could potentially do that, but I've never seen one that does

Hello! Arma 3 was always working fine for me but suddenly I get the error in the screenshot when I try to start the game from Steam on PC. Does anyone know how to fix the problem? I did not modify the Arm3.cfg at all before.
I tried to delete the file but it does not get regenerated. I am using Arma profiling version. Is the filed stored somewhere else?
Creating a new profile in Arma should regenerate the file iirc
Or transplanting from the default profile at %DOCUMENTS%\Arma 3, since that looks like a custom profile path

8 gigs RAM, 11th gen i3, 512 VRAM. Despite the horrendous specs, the game runs well and I have been playing it at a solid 40-50 fps for a few months now, until now that is. For the past few days, this particular thing has been happening. Other than that, the game runs well

hello I have a question regarding rpt's specifically whats causeing the Exception code: C0000005 ACCESS_VIOLATION at 1C5F0150. Idk if this is a common thing for arma 3 but it just happened recently with the same mods loaded i cant really tell whats the issue but I dont have the time to unload all the mods 
It's a generic crash error. RPT doesn't contain any usable information about it. It might be related to another error in the RPT but it probably isn't.

Generally the only way you get these diagnosed is by sending the .mdmp to Dedmen. Looks like you're running perf branch, so you should ideally check whether it crashes on stable.

It's mildly unstable as it's a bleeding edge branch but if you report things they get fixed

If you crash on perf it should pop up with a crash reporter, please do send those
crash on perf but not on stable is still bad as most changes from prof make their way to stable at some point.
perf/prof is easy to fix, stable is not.

mods shouldn't be able to crash the game. If they can its still a game bug
There's an odd issue me and friends have when we die and respawn on our dedicated server. Sometimes the chat no longer shows up after you respawn, though you can still send messages in it.

So, I bought some DLC today, including reaction forces which is the one CDLC. Enabled both optional DLCs (in photo) but when I start up, its on the contact screen and I can't press or interact with anything. Run RF on a compat before and it worked fine so im confused.
Any help? The game just crashes on me.

trying to do - boot up ace arsenal, ensure the content is still there. tried earlier but was dumb and forgot to load RF (only unloaded the compat mod) so obviously all RF content disappeared. Loaded up the optional DLC, expecting things to work normally, and what happens is the screen just opens onto the Contact main menu screen but doesn't allow me to press anything. Can't alt tab back into it, crashed once, other times ive had to close it with task manager
Are you trying to use RF, Contact, and ACE all at the same time?
Don't load Contact unless you're playing its campaign and when you're doing that don't load anything else.

Yea when I ran arma3p a few weeks back ( lbs cause prior to that I hadn't run it in like 6-9 months lol) I was having issue with buldozer. I had to run some patch thing from the buldozer config in that program in your screenshot
anyways, whenever i try downloading certain mods from playwithsix they dont work and all i see in the modfolder is a file name null.null. you guys got any clue here?

Is anything known about Arma making PCs stutter after running for about 2-3 hours or when opened and closed repeatedly? Basically after a while of my game being open I sometimes start to get stutters on my PC even after my game is closed.
Thermals are at an acceptable level and it continues even after my temps cool down to the usual daily usage levels. Easiest way to tell is when I switch between tabs while someone talks on TeamSpeak 3 for the stutters to occur, but they can also occur when my system is idle.
I do have plenty of mods loaded and ReShade running in the background but without any effects enabled, which probably doesn't help.
Are you maxing out your memory on a long running session? That might explain the stutters
No idea about opening and closing repeatedly, or why it would persist
RAM - likely, but I have swap and it's not an issue for other games so far.
VRAM - potentially close to it since it's either 4 or 6 GB, can't check atm. Would it really persist though if it was a VRAM thing?
I do see system interruptions in task manager spiking my CPU usage when that happens, but a reboot fixes it usually
@fringe salmon for what its worth our unit has dropped six related things as of right now. PwS I believe is no longer going to supported (nor did it ever really do all we need, granted our stuff is magical, we were still using SixUpdater for some repo foo), and we had little success with whatever the new SixNetwork app is ... we are currently looking for a better solution, using/working with Swifty currently, hoping it becomes what we need.

I just got arma 3 and was playing the prologue, when in the 3rd mission i couldn't enter the car, I also tried in another campaign mission where i did board a helicopter but couldn't enter the truck after.

CDLCs are usually not advised unless the campaign comes from them. If you mean base DLCs like Apex, Marksmen, etc. then those are fine

Change it back to that and you don't' need to hold it down for it to work. Press to use and press again to stop using it.

I'm having a very strange problem with arma 3. I'm running a 7900x3d, 64gb of ram and a 9070, but it won't get above 45 fps
the strange part is that the GPU won't go above 40% utilization, nor will the cpu

Issue is that you should get far more than 45 fps from 40% utilization.

There's even a risk that using more cores makes it slower. If they're all running memory-limited code on different data then the cache size is effectively divided between the active cores and so more cores => more cache misses.
I watched the cores and it seems to be parking them properly too
I've seen a few dozen cases where A3 runs around 2x slower than it should do on the hardware. Don't know if you're one of them without a YAAB run on standard settings.

They join but as soon as they select their player slot and click "OK" the game kicks them out

There is no error in server RPT, nor is there one being displayed for the person who gets kicked. It just throws them back onto the home page without context
The only thing I can think of (I never used Geforce Now myself) is that Geforce Now doesn't like to cooperate or work with some mods that use DLLs. Like ACE (heard frequent issues with it). So better try and find that client RPT log file in his session and see what mods are loaded or not.

trying to add mods to a server for me and my friend but having a hard time figuring out how to download them onto server
You can copy the folder and upload from your client install. In the install folder is a !workshop folder. It is actually fake and contains links to the folders where mods actually hide elsewhere in your Steam library/-ies. The easy part is they have nice readable names. The hidden location folders are just the modID numbers Steam gave them.
How you can upload or send to your server depends on the methods your server hoster provides.

Though we don't allow Star Wars Mods, the error is ultimately unrelated with it. It is a part of Western Sahara config. You either forgot to load it or our recent change made some incompatibility with one of your Mods

That's the expected behaviour if you define an empty class Missions in server.cfg
If you want the mission selector then the easiest way is to just delete the class Missions section.

worth mentioning that Arma autogenerates a profile named after my windows username, and I don't want to use that one cause I don't want to bill my real name on public arma servers
Yes, the primary profile is named after your (Windows) username. The only way to change that is making a new profile in game (puppet icon in top right). I do not know where that new profile would show up in the Z-drive. But probably also in the Users folder.
Can you upload "Wojtek.arma3profile"? Or whatever profile you have those screen resolution issues with.
Consider stopping the game, making a backup of the file, deleting the original and start the game new. Do the screen resolution issues keep happening?

yeah the RC40. i am also having the same problems with them. im on dev though. i can right click and hit control on them in the editor like their normal units instead of drones as well
there were RC40 changes on the main branch as well so i wouldnt be surprised if that was what caused it

Hey guys, I'm using a dedicated machine and using a Pelican panel. We play with Mods in our server. When I want to check how big the mod is in the server, the server has twice the size and looks like there are twice as many mods. for example, the mods in the Home folder (like: @843632231 for RHSSAF) and the mod has another folder in the /Steam/steamapps/workshop/content/107410/ with folder name 843632231. Is the mod has double folder making it double the size and if this is normal thing or it from my side that the mod has a double folder?
i cleaned up my modlist and the bug went away. must be a conflict with something. i'll figure it out and defer to the mod author instead

Due to misinformation and false claims, content is now being removed from the ArmA 3 Zeus community, simply by someone arbitrarily tapping and then banning. This is happening indiscriminately and has NOTHING to do with any guidelines or "game security," as it is purely a crusade driven by anti-game sentiment and is completely subjective in this context. Legally speaking, the suspension of a Steam account is subject to US and EU law.
And I'm talking about this exact user who's trying everything to remove anything related to the Public Zeus topic. Who is responsible on this server for offering someone like that "such a platform"?! That's absolutely negligent.
This will remove the last remaining players from ArmA 3 Zeus.
The offending script/mod happens to be licensed under MIT so anyone is free to remove the offending/malicious part of the script and use it as they want (following the MIT license terms ofcourse)

And there's nothing "illegal or harmful" about it, since, as far as I could see, it only involves executing scripts, a function that's enabled by default on the server (ScriptCompositionLevel = 2;). That's how it was communicated. I don't know how the user came to that conclusion when, in principle, it doesn't matter which script can be executed in the same way. ScriptCompositionLevel 2 is active, so it doesn't matter whether it's activated directly via a provided console, via composition, a chat command, or some other method. Even removing the code still results in a ban. Since only a certain part was mentioned, and the user referred to that, where is the rest of the alleged malware? There are active users who script malicious things, but the ZAM/EZM team is not one of them. This script has been running on your servers for years, and now it's supposed to be a problem, even though the relevant code snippets have been removed? I set it to private as soon as I heard about it, and if I'm not at home, I can't work on it for the time being. I understand your concern, but (as far as I know) it wasn't malware.

wrong, that config only allows the Zeus to run scripts, and ONLY the zeus. (first player in the slot on public servers, or voted admin taking over, or usually whitelisted players on other community zeus servers)

I understand. Now, it's not entirely EZM's fault if their concern is that "only Zeus" can execute scripts. But if that's their point, I completely understand. And as far as I know, other scripts that "weren't malware in this regard" were also removed. A user was banned, a unit was deleted. All things unrelated. It's quite different to be told by a "no-name" that something is "allegedly" problematic than to receive information from someone who is actually to be taken seriously, like you. People can say a lot of things, but I'm sure that if one of you had provided information via a Discord ping or something similar, the matter would have been resolved more quickly than through this channel. I'm always willing to follow instructions, but I don't see the point of blocks that are unrelated or that have already removed the code. They don't look at every code before simply deleting and removing it. That wouldn't have been possible in my case anyway, since only two people had it before I took it offline. In my opinion, a backdoor isn't always synonymous with malware. Sometimes it's simply used for support or error analysis. For example, if I need to fix something quickly. Your method was not correct.
This isn't/wasn't quite how it's being communicated. Whether something is intentional or not can't be judged by anyone else. From our conversation, I naturally assume that this backdoor was intentionally built in, but as I said, my initial intention was to verify the information, and that's why I rightly removed it/set the content to private. And private content is essentially the same as deleted. If the content had remained public, they would have had the right to remove it, since (as they also say) they don't politely request it when something like this is discovered. But banning an entire Steam account, including units and scripts that had nothing to do with it, and permanently excluding me from the Steam Workshop, is, in my opinion, far too excessive. They didn't provide the essential information for the ban, but instead "referenced" something. They could have removed the content with a clear explanation, as they would have given me here, and the content would have been removed.

Quick question. So I have Show script errors and Debug mode enabled on Launcher and i see script error box in game but when i go check my RTP i dont see what error is is there a setting i am missing to enable the errors in RTP.
Also i dont have No Logs on launcher enabled if you were wondering.
Nah, if you get script errors then it should write them to the RPT as well.
Hell, it'll do that even if you don't have show script errors or debug mode enabled.
ArmA has no Zeus Community. Zeus is a feature that was only added with Arma 3.

I don't know any way for a script to disable the logging intentionally.

hmm, I can reproduce it by running that mission from the editor as SP. Mods are just Zen/CBA/ADT

Hey, idk if anyone would be able to help, but I've been having an issue with arma lately for a halosim unit I'm in for the past 3 weeks. I join the server through the launcher, all the mods are up to date and I've got the recent modpack enabled and when I try to connect to the server I'm just stuck on a loading screen and it says I'm connecting to X-Cam Taunus for the map, which is not the map loaded. I've tried a lot of things so far like swapping versions and even uninstalling and reinstalling Arma 3 and the mods. I have not tried a full wipe at this moment as I'd like to see if there is any other way beforehand. Any and all help will be greatly appreciated

Hi all, having error in .RPT about a lot of uniforms and wests. Ex.: "CUP_V_RUS_6B45_3_BeigeDigital" is not a valid backpack name. can somebody advise what can it be? main problem is that part of equipment disappears when trying to put off uniform, vest or backpack
6B45 is a vest, isn't it? So it's definitely not a valid backpack name

My guess is that you have a broken mod that's doing additional inventory changes when you drop stuff.

Variable zoom scopes and changing zoom within weapons in vehicles doesn’t work for me; in Controls, there is not even a control listed for it. I can ADS and everything looks normal, just can’t change the zoom of the scope. any suggestions?

Arma generates an .rpt log file on every run. This log file contains a lot of information like the loaded mods or any errors that appear, and can be very useful for troubleshooting problems.
To get to your RPT files press Windows+R and enter %localappdata%/Arma 3

To share an rpt log here, please use a website like https://pastebin.com/ (Set expiry time to 1 week or less) to upload the full log, that way the people helping you can take a look at it and try to figure out with you the problem you encounter.
Note: RPT logs can hold personal information relevant to your system, the game or others.
The other things I can suggest is checking resource monitor for the file handle, or just nuke the folder and verify game files

Running a dedicated server on my machine for testing purposes, but trying to figure out how to set up mods on it is proving... annoying. The mission was made with this exact same mod-load, and I've confirmed the server has the mods loaded, but no roles are available.

Blech, TADST has been doing this thing lately where it hogs the config and doesn't give it up when I close the server, so I have to make a whole new profile just to tweak one setting T_T

Hello guys, I need help.
When I play an Arma 3 single-player mission on the Weferlingen map as a tank platoon commander, after about 5 minutes the game starts over-lagging and stuttering. When I pause and then unpause, the game completely freezes. This has already happened three times.
My PC specifications are:
CPU: i5-6600K
GPU: RX 580 (8 GB VRAM)
RAM: 16 GB DDR4
Storage: Arma 3 installed on an SSD
What should I do to fix this?

might be my bad wording but, IIRC the game will automatically scale the graphics down if you forcibly use high graphics with low VRAM, and thats my question is there a way so that the game doesn automatically scale the graphis down?

been having this issue when trying to play sog prairie fire. disabling atoc and fsaa makes the issue a bit better but the tress still lack textures and are black for like 90 percent of them. I have no mods enabled in the launcher at the moment. Ive tried rolling back my drivers and then re doing them to get it to fix but no luck so far. Current gpu is an amd rx 7600xt. Issue only happens with sog and all other cldcs and my mod list work pefrect but the moment i enable sog the issue comes back
