well. it started out as a new WS update, but it was quickly quite clear that financially it would not work out great.

Except those CDLC's aren't made, maintained or supported by BI. So it doesn't make sense to include them in the base game.

And since it took a lot of time and effort to get these CLDC's build and released it's more than fair to pay separately for them.

Can't we have a CDLC that behaves like a DLC in the fact that it is always installed? Makes little sense to have these smallish CDLCs set during the vanilla time period as separate/alternative downloads. I know that maybe it has to do with BI not wanting to maintain the integrated CDLC in case the authors disappear from the face of the earth or something but still would be great some flexibility in that regard due to how many things we have the opt in/subscribe already and it is kinda becoming unwieldy, specially for new players, since playing Arma and getting the most of it is becoming more and more like a puzzle, ever more complex and with the more pieces the more that can go wrong in terms of modding compatibility, hard drive size etc etc

Another benefit is that integrated content is more appealing for modders to work on them since their reach potential is worth it compared to the limited scope that an external CDLC provides. And modders creating content for a CDLC = More appealing = More sales

#

Just think (💰) about it BI 😉, a simple decision could lead to much less frustration from players and more sales... that should outweigh any downside you can come up with...

But folks don't think about how the entities behind these games are businesses, with share holders, bound by contracts, licenses, copy-rights, partners, associates, clients, and all sorts of legal, bureaucratic and straight up bullsh*t all around.

I mean, I work for a company that got bought out. Our teams are staying, our project stays the same, our clients are the same, our client's work tools are the same, but for some stupid reason they have to replace my work machine, keyboard and mouse for exactly the same models, just because these are the ones that are "approved" by the new parent company. Does it make sense? Maybe, to someone somewhere in a nice office probably. Do I care? Nah... it is what it is. And that's the same attitude we all need to have about the CDLC program and how it works...

it just doesn't make sense but I'm not here to argue about it because it's been repeated ad nauseum, I simply don't like the current CDLC concept for any Futura DLCs because the assets fit and it'd earn both Bohemia and the devs a pretty penny because people will spend it for access on public servers, but I can imagine that licensing would not be as easy as it seems to me (the casual observer)

on a positive note though, I absolutely love the quality presented here. all Futura DLCs keep a special place in my heart and this one seems cool. lol I'm wondering if there'll be dynamic fires with the firefighter equipment

Simple answer is the CDLC program was setup in a certain way, and can't just be changed willy nilly after 5 CDLCs have been released. That would create all sorts of issues. The time to make it different was before the program started, and unfortunately it wasn't. Why? I'm sure there's plenty of technical reasons, such as keeping the installation size of the base game down, and not end up like COD with a 300 GB game for content that most players will not use because it's locked behind a paywall, and other reasons.

Most of the players I play like CDLC's but sadly don't buy it since the server owners does not like the idea of forcing people buy an cdlc or download a compat file. If it worked like every other dlc (apex,contact etc) it would be great for servers who use only vanilla+dlc contents..

It would be fine if everyone could tick the DLC checkbox in steam and have it download.
But, we don't want new players to download like what... 80gb? of CDLC, which they cannot use.

I don't know if steam offers the option to have the DLC by default un-checked, and having to manually enable it.

i mean, currently if you do not own the dlc and want to activate it, there is a message that tells you that you dont own it. what if additionally to that message, it will show a link to the compatibility data? or a checkbox which asks if you want to subscribe and install it. then you dont have to visit the workshop at all and can just do that via the launcher

In addition, on the day of the full release of the CDLC, Heavy Ordnance Works will publish a compatibility data pack for non-owners to the Arma 3 Steam Workshop. Subscribing to this Workshop item will allow those who do not own Spearhead 1944 to still play on multiplayer servers that use the assets from the CDLC. It will also allow people to view the new Normandy terrain in Eden Editor in camera mode and inspect the assets in the Arsenal in-game before purchasing. However, playing on the CDLC's premium Normandy terrain and access to the campaign and mission scenarios will remain exclusive to the owners of the Spearhead 1944 CDLC. Restrictions on in-game use of CDLC assets by non-owners also apply. More information can be found on the Community Wiki.

This is the best middle ground idea I've heard so far, so it gets my vote. Whatever makes it simpler for players the better. The workshop is already too convoluted so allowing non owners to download the compatibility data if they checked the CDLC tick on the launcher's CDLCs tab is the second best if it truly needs to remain as a separate download. 👇 Here are very minimalistic changes to the Launcher and the popup message when you click the checkbox of non-owned dlcs that would allow for that suggestion to come to life

What is important is that if players with COMPAT DATA loaded eventually purchase the CDLC the launcher should seamlessly (without player intervention) change the COMPAT VERSION to the FULL VERSION so that owners don't find themselves with locked assets

Since RF won't be base game as it's already released as CDLC, developed and finished by a 3rd party studio and all agreements were acknowledged to treat this (and rpevious stuff) as CDLC, you can post in #creator_dlc_discussion or write an email to BI with your complain about making any future 2035-ish content included in the base game. Yes, true. But I was generalizing from my group. Me, personally, I have tried every content A3 has and in regards to 2035 assets I was only able to enjoy Old Man, Contact and now WS... but some Worshop mission too of course (Hunter Six, Antistasi, Dynamic Recon Ops etc). I am myself working on a Old Man sized Coop Mision in the veins of Extraction but much bigger and by using the 2035 setting

I can't speak about SP players but for players on MP servers facing the internet it's around 1.5k players playing vanilla A3 and a bit more than 2.5k playing modded, right now (note: these numbers apply to servers without CDLCs) .
So technically, it's true that "most players play modded", but it's not actually a gigantic difference.

There's more to consider though. I would think a massive amount of the millions of people who own A3 are casual players, that play it less frequently.

Secondly, when you look at the MP numbers, it doesn't tell you which is more played. I would expect that the more hardcore players, who play modded, are on there maybe every day or every few days. Whereas the casual players, who don't play modded, are there every week or two, or even every month. So while, in any short-term interval, most of the players are modded, in a longer term, you might get that more players are unmodded but play much less.

You also have to consider the people you surround yourself with when you say "all my friends" are modded too. If you friends are those who play A3 as much as you, of course they'll mod. But you have to introspect on whether or not you're representative.

so a module, not a static prop. And since it's a module, it is a script, so you can easily "translate" it to a function that would spawn new wildfires around.

The Pickup's modularity is great. Combined with the vanilla armed Offroads and MB 4WDs, you can pretty much make an army that only consists of technicals now. blobcloseenjoy

Only gripe I've got with it is that it's a bit strange for everyone to be using the SPMG. I can understand the FIA using it since they're NATO-backed, but it's kinda odd that the AAF and Syndikat MMG Pickups are using it too. They should've been given Navids instead. That way, you'd be able to have MMG Pickups for CSAT as well without having them use the SPMG.

Hello. My friends and I immediately purchased the CDLC. I did it out of trust, given the appreciation I have for Western Sahara, for the high quality of your work. Once again, I'm positively surprised. Scripts, textures, models, and so on are absolutely up to par with the base game.

I may have found a bug with arma itself now. that if (only tried helicopters) helicopters are synced to a vehicle respawn module, and the settings are applied for the wrecks to be deleted, that your character is teleported to debug corner once the helicopter is destroyed. if the wrecks are preserved, you are in the wreck and teleported to debug corner..

the issue is related to the suspension length. shortly before release i fixed a gears related issue, which resulted in the suspension values to be wrong. this is why the helicopter explodes now. suspension length needs to be increased to fit again

since the advanced flight model is using much more complex data, this only happens if the AFM is enabled, not in standard mode

Is anyone else having trouble with the RF Compat Data signatures? I can join the server if I have Reaction Forces installed, even if not loaded. But as soon as I uninstall the DLC, im no longer (and neither is anyone else from 3 people I tried this with) able to join the server, getting kicked for unsigned files.

In your compat data there is a "keys" folder with a file inside.
Copy that file into your Arma 3/keys folder and see if that changes anything.
It shouldn't be needed on clientside though

In reality it's a civilian sport and hunting rifle.
In Arma, its niche is being lightweight and having very good handling. It's got a longer barrel than other 5.56 guns in the game, giving it good velocity and precision, while being lighter than higher-calibre DMRs, which reduces stamina drain and aim sway. It's a good gun to take (with the AP ammo) if you want a combination of mobility and range.

is there also a way to influence how fast a fire grows when a wildfire module is synced to another module set at a value of 100% intensity?
I would like to lower the rate at which a fire grows, as I currently am noticing that the fire rapidly increases in intensity between values of 0.05% intensity and 70% intensity. But after 70% it slows down quite a bit. It seems like a fire can intensify to 70% within 10ish minutes. after which it takes a very long time before it reaches that 100% intensity. So I am wondering if I can slow down the rate before the 70%?

Since with how fast you can extinguish a fire in the game with 1 helicopter for example, you just can't keep up with the fire growing until the 70% mark.

After 20 minutes, the fire is only at 75% intensity.

I usually do all tasks but one to not end the day when I come back to base, grab a Huron and deliver the biggest crates to max out the supply levels in those bases. If I'm not too bored, I drop some additional ones near them so I don't have to go back and forth from the MOB

quick question: is someone else also having issues with advanced flight model and the reaction forces cdlc? Issue is that everytime i have it enabled as soon as i got into pilot slot the helo gets damaged. If i get in a normal cargo seat the helo is fine

hmm. I fear that right now for me it is uncontrollable. I'd like to slow down the rate from 0 to 70%. so it would become a bit easier to fight it. over a longer time period. like, instead of it taking 10 minutes for the fire to reach the 70% intensity, I would like to make it 20 minutes or 30 minutes.
