well manual zeroing seems to work for snipers but in this case I'm a tank gunner and it doesn't really do anything

when it's zeroed to say 3000 meters

A gun needs to have some kind of range thats its zeroed to , what you describe would be zeroing set to 0 metres but not turned off

there might be mods, but the altitude limit isnt very high, and making the view distance long enough would be pretty straining for the average computer

Sounds were also pretty good with ARMA 2... Most people barf at the model and texture (general graphics quality) due to the fact that it is an old game. That said, ARMA 2 kicks the arse of a lot of games today simply because it is so damned good a MILSIM game - that said, yeah... has all the normal ARMA issues 😉

@humble bane interface did not change much since OFP, ArmA 3 has pretty much the same one. Graphics did change, but art direction is the same. It feels like the same game with simplified graphics. The real differences between OFP and ArmA 3 (as well as all in between) are gameplay improvements such as vehicle part damage, armor etc.

The only DLCs that would restrict you from joining would be servers running missions on Tanoa or Livonia.

Which most servers, if they have a rotation of missions will have terrains you can play on without the Contact or Apex DLCs.

@royal raptor shit doesn’t work like you said. dpi is always in relation to another dimension.
ie: an a4 file can be 72dpi, 150 dpi, 300dpi etc. the resolution of that file will increase accordingly

same goes for screen resolution and their size. a 24inch 4k screen will have a higher dpi than a 38inch 4k screen

I don't know the exact number but it feels like it gets to around 90 on a 16:9 monitor

The actual horizontal angle you get does depend on aspect ratio, it's one of the reason people like 3 monitor set ups or ultrawide monitors for FPSs

A lot of games have the vertical angle fixed and the horizontal one changes based on resolution and possibly also on the games' FOV settings, if they have it

generally FOV settings change both horizontal and vertical, but I remember even playing a janky ass FPS once where it's FOV setting only changed the horizontal, not the vertical, so the higher you set it the more squished everything became

DLC doesn't change that just adds new assets/missions, if you like in depth, long missions and endless mods to try then Arma is great, only a walking sim if you play missions that make it a walking sim, and even they can be extremely fun when made right.
The way to get the most out of Arma is to join a milsim type group
Most people who play Arma have thousands of hours, if it was a boring walking sim that wouldn't be the case.

@midnight rapids , I will check, but if I remember correctly, the game has a "Basic Training / boot camp" mode you can explore under "Tutorials". I'd recommend starting there to get familiar with the controls. I'll see if I can grab a screenshot, but Pi's Discord link above should have some modes you can explore without fear. Also, it helps avoid the whole "press G (by default) to quick throw a grenade onto online friendlies" situation. In any case, I can try to walk you through some more things as needed. 😃

Does anyone else feel the 120mm he and heat shells on tanks (slammer and kuma ) lacks a bit of firepower

Idk if its just me but i feel like i score direct hits with the he shells sometimes on infantry and it isnt always a kill it should be whereas the 125 mm cannons (ofcourse they would because larger gun) always kills the infantry with he, overall im not sure what it is but i feel 120mm is lacking even though in the wiki its cited for the slammer to be able to be used as mobile artillery. In addition ive played against the recieving end of a slammers HE shells and ive had them land next to me with minimal health lost. what does everyone else think

@ember orbit The T-14 just has a lot of drawbacks that would make me worry. The Abrams is basically a good-at-everything tank that you can rely on. Russian tech used to be just creating a bunch of weapons and throwing them at the enemy, but now they can't even afford to produce all the T-14's anymore.

they are fine with the T-90MS, as it removes almost all the flaws in soviet design, giving it more spatious interior, removing the ammo carorusel, adding blowout panels etc

T-90MS has the same carousel autoloader as previous T-72/T-90. The bustle with blowout panels is just for additional ammo storage away from the inside of the turret.

So back 5 years ago I was playing arma with my friend we were both police force captains the owner was the Commissioner, anyways we were with a civilian and decided to cheat the bounty system by adding 100 counts of murder on the civilian, 200 bombings, and 50 kidnappings and split the bounty between the three of us

Does anyone know how the Titan Compact works? I was standing at a range of about 500m and the enemy tank was glowing white on the FLIR but it just wouldn't lock on or anything and I couldn't therefore even fire the missile.

Wouldn't be surprised if theirs a way in sharex to automatically upload new files in a specific folder, eg. your steam screenshots folder.
If not they are very responsive on github, they might add it if you ask.

I believe post Tanks DLC, you don't have to press anything, just hold steady over a target using thermal view, and it should start locking.
If not maybe its being blocked by something else bound to those keys either vanilla or cba keybinds.
