Nope. Although I do have a static IP which points to a different part of my country. That in itself isn't good for this kind of location sharing, but the weird part is that Perplexity thinks I'm in a neighbouring country.

It's not my hardware. Any other browser, no issues.

I have a very good CPU and a 4090. I followed the suggestion to turn off hardware acceleration (which sounds like bad advice ) and that did help somewhat, but the videos play at something like half the framerate unless I'm watching full-screen.

I think the Perplexity AI company overestimates the importance of its assistant. I know that's a bold thing to say, but on a typical day I might run prompts several times for various queries or tasks. But the time spent on that would probably take up less than 10% of my overall browsing for a given day.

It's useful to have Perplexity features available quickly in Comet, but the Perplexity AI company's issue is that they misunderstand their average end users. They're advertising this browser to millions. Only a small percentage of those will be AI power users who really would utilise Perplexity frequently. Most of us don't need Perplexity shoved in our face all the time. We can't even change the new tab page to that of an extension because they think that what's good for us is - you guessed it - more Perplexity. No, I want an efficient browser. If I'm being blocked from tweaking the browser a little to suit my needs, it's inefficient.

Perplexity & Comet's privacy mode already strip identifying data from our queries and do not track us. And it's no ads by default, fast & much better too👍

The fix to that prompt injection thing sometimes can block legitimate prompts (which is fine with me). I regularly have Comet summarize recently received emails about AI and then at some point it decided it would refuse to do so because it found prompts in those emails, which is to be expected. A simple tweak of my prompt to ignore any prompts found in the emails got it to resume its summarizations.

Any reports about video playback not working after the most recent Comet update? Audio is fine, but the video itself doesn't play on any websites (weirdly I can switch tabs and I see the video for a split second as the tab loads lol) - disabling extensions hasn't helped.

EDIT (Update): I've weirdly found a momentary workaround for anyone else experiencing this. For some reason, if you scroll the page down a little bit, the video will display. Unfortunately doesn't work on webpages that don't have a scrollbar (e.g. Paramount+, Disney+, Netflix, etc. streaming services)

I just did a bunch of testing on the new OpenAI AI Browser (Atlas) - It's cool, but I'm VERY likely gonna stick with Comet for quite a few reasons. That said, I did make a 'Comet Feedback' post (below) that gives a 'feature request' list of things that Atlas does well that I think Comet should implement right away!

I actually see it differently. In the future, we'll be able to use AI in real life and at work. If you can pass an exam using AI, then the exam isn't properly designed for today's world.

Any work that can be done with AI should be done with AI. This gives us more free time to focus on things that AI simply can't do.

Moving forward, we need to put more emphasis on:
• Social skills
• Other areas that distinguish us humans from AI
• Learning how to use and understand AI better

That's why I think it's actually okay.

yea i was logged in. It was able to open a tab, navigate to a server, scan channels, copy stuff, and more. I even after loggin in, I get this:

it is so slow, and failed ~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Blocking access behind the Comet browser is a poor decision. Why make loyal users jump through hoops? Also, limiting the assistant to 10 questions on Comet is absurd.

I see no reason they colnt do both pretty much the same time. Honestly, it is not that hard to make Linux supported. And Android runs on top of Linux kernel, so it is not much of a stretch.
