If you want to test it, set your default language to German.
Write a prompt, use DeepL OR perplexity to translate it to German and then try it again.

Apparently, setting the preferred response language to German automatically prompts the AI to output in German. The option "automatic (detect input)" seems to prevent that behavior, although I'm not sure if changing the preferred response language is an option for you.

Also, I've revised the prompt so the AI outputs in German in situations like your one, with the response language set to automatic. Here it is;

HI there! Is there a cheat sheet to make the models more reliable on current knowledge? I understand Perplexity can scout realtime, but I'm getting a bit frustrated to search for, let's say, performance info or alternatives to device models released in the last 4 months, and getting chastised in response, with an output saying such devices have not yet been released. The remainder of the search is then biased.
It seems the use of "right now" trigger makes the model more sensible in the info it pulls, but that only works in certain scenarios.

Is there a trick i need to use to have perplexity return results to me using markdown? It refuses to do it. I am executing this search from a Space. The Space has files in it. One of the files is called Chapter 1, and Perplexity is finding the file and summarizing it. But when I issue the instruction: "summarize chapter one and return the results using markdown," it will not use markdown. When I follow up an ask it to use markdown, it tells me what markdown is, but it won't format the results using markdown. I have tried the default model, ChatGPT, and Caude. Each gives various forms of the wrong result. In fact, ChaptGPT acts like it can't even find the file.

Not sure exactly, but try saying respond in markdown codeblocks. If its not recognizing a file, specify either the time or name of the file you are referring to. Hope this helps.
Edit: Also make sure you give it instructions that you need within same message / prompt. Dont keep following up with different instructions. This may cause confusion to the AI Model.

When you want to delete a file that has already been used in the thread you could go to the 3 dots in the bottom right of the answer and click on view sources here you can delete 1 or more sources from the answer.

Seems to me that the model that generated the second answer is one of the OpenAI models.

My understanding is that Perplexity uses different generative models in the background to come up with your results.
Asking a model about perplexity, give it context on what you want to know, that it does not necessarily have when asking a model about 'itself'.

Please keep in mind that I use the whole anthropomorphising language for ease of understanding, not because the models are actually anthropomorphic in my mind.

Bascially, as with most systems, the 'better/more precise' question, has a higher chance of giving you 'better/higher quality' results.

Hello, pro member here, I have a quick question about Spaces and the stored file sources. I'm trying to put together a internal knowledge base that helps my team find digital assets. One of the files I have uploaded is a MS Powerpoint deck that contains example images for each file. I tried adding a custom prompt to say.
When the users asks for examples of [ASSET TYPE] it will first search this PPT file and return results from that first before any web searches.
It did this successfully for the text that appears in the PPT file but no images are pulled in, which is the main thing I was hoping it would do.
How else can I achieve the search being able to show results from a custom image library? I was thinking maybe it might need to go on Pinterest or something else that could be pulled in easier than images embedded in a ppt slide. But thought I would ask here as it wasn't clear from the Perplexity help guides.
