Hey everyone!! I’m from Massachusetts and I guess I’m a bit of a technology/electronics geek. I have a hard time finding time for a lot of the really interesting stuff but I love hearing all the new technology, new ideas, etc. I’m not sure if others have already been sharing or if it works with other countries but my local cable company (can’t even stand that still pay cable) in their rewards section they had an offer they were sharing giving a year of perplexity pro.. the offer was good for original person who got the code and you could share with 7 additional people. I was immediately ready to add it on to my account, everything seemed legitimate I just get nervous with things but i did it. I did read some of the differences but would appreciate if people could share experiences and if others got the same promotion.

I do not remember how I actually found perp, but i remember watching the Lex x Aravind interview and its what inspired me to dig deep and do my research on Perplexity. I did not immediately buy in but over the course of the month as I saw their consistent ship time it was an asbolute no brainer and paid for a year for pro ahead of time which is what I suggest everyone do to not worry about your subscription expiring. This is easily top 3 maybe even top 2 model available to the public without a doubt!

The solutions to questions displayed there are often far too random for me, simply because the conservative search engines often only search for single words. Annoying.

Was already a fan of using Gemini, Co-Pilot, ChatGPT before I saw the free key for pro from Xfinity... jumped on it and wow I love spaces. I'm going to have to budget in a pro sub for the future because this thing is seriously awesome. I got an entire D&D character setup with how to role play it, stay in character, skill and character design. I have a work space that knows what I do for work and can really streamline my job with quick script help, email reformating, notes reformatting. I'm building out a self improvement space now too.

I enjoy using Arm-based SBCs and microcontroller boards in robots and other projects. I think Arm is where it is all at! All of my robots use Arm-based controllers. I am self-taught in robotics and mostly in electronics.

I'm quite new to the platform and am learning as I go about what the AI is capable of... at present I'm using it alongside a medical team due to an ongoing injury, and for the most part it's providing good advice.
Also plan on using it to aid in getting a job by asking it how best to answer certain technical questions, etc. that can be asked during the interview and to essentially test my knowledge.
So far, I've given the AI both a heart rate graph and a few MRI images, and it's analysed them reasonably well, indicating the same as a radiologists report in a fraction of the time...
Looking forward to finding out new ways of using the tool, learning more about it and seeing how things change.

It's actually given me some solid suggestions and advice that I hadn't been able to find in my searches and through Gemini Advanced; Certain BIOS settings and RAM timings and things of that nature. I have a security question. I am a medical malpractice defense attorney. When I receive medical records from a HCP/client, I do so as a Business Associate under HIPAA. My concern is that uploading protected health information obtained from my client would be a HIPAA violation. Is the information/data uploaded to Perplexity for analysis open to the public, used for training on LLM's, maintained or saved on the platform, or otherwise "disclosed" in violation of HIPAA safeguards? Is Perplexity "HIPAA compliant". Has anyone in a similar situation as mine used Perplexity to evaluate medical records?

I have only used the free version to date. I use it for medical research primarily. Some drafting letters and emails. Mainly have used ChatGPT for drafting. Also the free version. I've uploaded motions, briefs, and depositions to Perplexity and had it prepare bullet point summaries. Signing up the Pro version and plan to find additional ways to use it. I do a lot of Google searches on medical issues and procedures. Plan to do more of that research using Perplexity. Cannot upload a medical file until I have assurances of HIPAA compliance.

Perplexity, we get it. You’re awesome. You’re agile. You’re grounded. You’re sleek and even-tempered even when I’m cranky from coding all day. You cite your sources in APA format when I ask, sometimes even when I don’t. Then, I saw you teamed up with Carbon the other day, and honestly— that was a slick move. I didn’t even know you could do that. Furthermore, I did not have any problematic incidents with fake news when you held it down during the US election.
But I’m worried about you, Perplexity— I feel like you’re crushing the game a little too hard. Just wanna let you know everyone’s very impressed already, so you don’t have to over compensate by getting exponentially more rad by the day. I just wanted you to know you’re special just the way you are and I would still love you even if you said there were 5 r’s in Strawberry. It meant a lot to me how you made it seem like I had actually prepared before the meeting yesterday. I sincerely don’t deserve it.
