As of around ~month or so ago, they have made deep research 20 searches/month on Pro Plans.

Due to a series of things, but for some reason they've decided to make it that Deep Research runs Opus 4.6 only.

Which they say is to ensure "Highest Quality Reporting", but realistically I think it's just a way to justify lowering the amount of Deep Research you can use on a monthly basis.

Opus is also 3X the Price. Most people aren't using it for in-depth reasoning, but rather to gather an accumulation of information to get a decent report. I don't really think you need a model that costs substantially more to do this, when you can use Sonnet 4.6, GPT 5.4, or Gemini 3.1 Pro to do t he same things

The Deep Research from Perplexity isn't like the Deep Think from Gemini, it is not thinking through problems. It's finding a large amount of sources related to your query and summarizing it. Any model can realistically do this.

perplexity read like 20+ sources while if you use any other search related feature in chatgpt etc it doesnt look at as many sources at the same time mostly other services look at what it is steered to believe is relevant or is able to pull information from. perplexity is still unique in a sense that it can still pull from vast amount of sources in its searches where other llm's just cant yet. and then there is the entire fact checking process behind perplexity where most of the time its accurate in its responses but i do find it struggle on very niche related stuff but other than that im enjoying their whole package you get with perplexity as a whole and the design execution is also worth paying attention to versus many other ai's seems rather lacking in the design department of their own ui etc. what sold me in the start was perplexity's abillity to pull in sources and create really good lyrics based of existing known musicians lyrics and style of it. now since suno is decent at lyrics i mainly use perplexity instead of a google search or equleants as i like a dense or short answer (which is a easy setting btw in perplexity settings) also it has so many damn cool features like the ability to track formel 1 in real time etc. they have relased so many awesome smaller fun features that this experience in itself makes it more fun. the fact perplexity just feels amazing to use with smooth text animations and usage overall its worth keeping the sub. remember perplexity sold themself on to be the first service having llm's connected to web search functionallity. it even got google chrome team scared once. they even wanted to go into hardware i believe too and did partnerships with rabbit inc that made the rabbit r1 device offering a first search with perplexity on thhat device. i mean i think perplexity isnt done yet. they can do so much more. i wanna see them have huge success moving forward. doing deals like with the samsung galaxy s26 or yk just keep giving such a cool experience

Yes comet has a log way to go unfortunately. Don't make Claude read messages either yet. They don't have 100% accuracies yet. About php forums, that very concept is dead. Most people either ask AI directly or go through reddit. The problem with apps like perplexity is they scaled way too fast and they don't have enough human resources to deal with q&a and so they dont have those intentionally.
