If you have perplexity pro and you store anything important on it make sure that you take what's important off the site because I just had a years full of research erased from my account because it's synced to a phone that did not get the information correctly instead of getting the information on to the phone. Hello, I would like to report an issue that many users (including me) are experiencing with the 1-year Perplexity Pro promotion.

I redeemed the promotion in June, so it should last until June this year, but my Pro subscription ended early in March. After that, support required me to add a credit card in the middle of the promotional period, which was not clearly stated when the promotion was redeemed.

Even after adding a valid credit card, my Pro access has not been restored.

Also, this does not seem to be an isolated issue. Many users are reporting the exact same problem online:

Well, it has happened to paid accounts too, so ... that wouldn't have been a smart move if it was intentional. Even some max accounts (including enterprise) were affected in the last couple of days. Plus, I don't think there's any proof of it being intentional. There were downgrades due to terms of service violations in the past, but the most recent issue seems different.

From what I've been seeing in forums, Reddit and here on Discord, most of the users affected by this issue are people with free promotional accounts (like education plans or partner promotions).
This problem doesn't seem to be new either — there are reports going back to January, where people's Pro subscriptions suddenly disappeared or were downgraded before the promotional period ended.
So it doesn't look like an isolated case. It seems to be affecting many users over the past few months.

Aravind here. I want to personally thank you for your patience and announce we are sending free Perplexity Computer credits to all Max and Pro users affected by today’s outage.
Today we experienced a Stripe issue that affected a small number of Max and Pro subscribers by automatically cancelling their subscriptions. We’ve been in the process of rolling out more consumption based pricing so that everyone can try any cool feature we ship, but this ends up with us having to deal with corner cases we didn’t anticipate well. Add to that a few coincidental infra incidents that happened on the same day.

Hello, my account was affected by the recent issue with the Pro subscription. My Perplexity Pro was restored, it's back to normal, but the promotional period was shortened. I had a 12-month promotion from my carrier, which was originally supposed to last until October 30, 2026, but now the billing page shows May 23, 2026.
It seems the billing cycle was recalculated after the interruption. I still have the Stripe invoice and the original billing page showing the correct promotional period. This is absurd and grounds for legal action, I will never use Perplexity's services again, the problems I had yesterday were enough, as I needed the system working and it let me down.
