I’m Varun — a non-native developer who only really started coding after GPT-4 came out. I was a non-technical PM, but I went down the LLM rabbit hole hard and started building tools I wish existed.
I recently launched a project called Slate (www.slate-app.io), an AI-powered workspace that supports long-context reasoning and multi-model access (OpenAI, Claude, Gemini, etc.). It’s kind of like Notion + ChatGPT, with persistent memory and token-level control.

Hi all -- I found Perplexity through the Wall Street Journal article and like it a lot. The most recent find was several attempts to find out a (okay, very arcane) fact about a lost Latin manuscript that an Oxford biographer of Pliny the Younger said was held by the cathedral library in Verona during the 1300s. It was lost, he said, and I wanted to know how it was lost. I asked Perplexity but got denial that it had ever happened with the lower level queries, finally asked at the highest level, waited for several minutes, and the answer validated the biographer and added the information he left out (bad political disturbances when the manuscript disappeared early in the 1500s). So that was good!

I use perplexity for studying, I feel safer with my results than the “other” gen AI apps . I do however like to fluctuate and copy and paste my results from perplexity to gen ai apps and further prompt for more accurate info ( using perplexity’s response ) and have an additional yet creative response depending on how I want to learn. I also love the videos and resources provided per search with perplexity’s responses for the in-depth learning experience. What I would love to see from perplexity is advanced voice mode for more conversational learning. I would then cancel my “other” subscriptions and only use perplexity 🤪 .

When I talk to Perplexity, it can only recognize what I say at the beginning of the conversation. After that, it cannot detect my sentences anymore. This has happened many times. At first, I thought it was because I didn’t use the Pro plan, so I paid to subscribe. But even with the Pro plan, the issue remains. I intended to use your app to practice English and improve my speaking skills, but I am very disappointed that your app works like this. I have already tried all the troubleshooting steps your app recommends, such as restarting the device, reinstalling the app, changing the AI, and switching internet connections, but the problem still persists. I feel very disappointed and that I have wasted a lot of time.
