This is false information, but I don't have an account to notify them or fix it, as it's usually fairly inaccurate anyhow.

Yeah, a lot of people build their own PCs, but I usually just get prebuilt ones from like Alienware because you don't have to worry about individual stock pieces or anything. If they don't have any they'll just delay your order until they do.

It costs a little more, but I've had the 3-5 year warranty options come in handy in the past

IDK where to put this or if i'm using the hashtag right, but #recomendation-for-the-game Add a menu that lets you see totals of all stacks of any item type in each blue chest in the flame altar you're working with. (this is somwhat doable now by going to each individual item you can craft and checking or jotting down the qtys on a notebook, but rather time intensive for what should be pretty simple to pull from the game already considering you can see total qtys on each crafting menu. I mean i can make a macro in Power Automate to scroll through each menu item and snap shot the totals then extract text from the image to make a table and remove duplicates, but most people can't do complex macros like that.

So in regards to your query about a map of London, if you're wanting hyper-detailed info it may be hard, London in particular prides itself as one of the safest cities in the world, it is the number one city as far as surveillance cameras, so there may be some force at work making it harder for people to see the full layout of London. My friend invited me to see an orchestra called Virtuosi of Houston, at first, I was discouraged it would be teens playing, but they were professionally classically trained. It was nice to listen to them perform. valheim microsnap issue in a 4 year old game, i always thought this issue was introduced into builds with round curves, and so you need to plan the build properly and build the curves indepedent of the rest of the build. but in this build it's a perfectly square build and it got introduced somehow.... just terribly frustrating to have a build game that wont snap properly. these are the basics of building games that should always work otherwise the game is bad.

nobody wants to snap their piece to another and find out it can snap to 2 different spots 1 millimeter apart lol and which one do you choose lol 😭

@solar cloud i have 800 hours building in valheim, probably one of the best builders in the game, and i don't think it's better than enshrouded, it's also not that comparable. #off-topic message

"disagree with the idea that valheim is better... it still has microsnap issues, this is like the very basic of a building game, you expect the snap points to actually work properly. if they don't it takes a 5/5 building game to 1/5 easily. the structural system is neat though, adds more dimensions to the building concept as a whole. plus you have to think where enshrouded will be in 4 years, it's probable we will have 45 degree angles here too. in many ways enshrouded can surpass whatever it's missing that valheim currently has, and currently it surpasses valheim a lot in other ways already, (for example you can make caves here - whereas valheim doesn't allow overhead terrain unless it's a rock/copper asset, and it has a terrain limit of 12 deep). enshrouded is basically on a game engine designed to be the best builder as far as i can tell. whereas valheim is on an engine that has limitations, and they would need valheim 2 to really improve anything. 80% of the good building in valheim comes from mods = saying a lot. if this game ever had mod support, it would blow away valheim too."

you didn't like that enshrouded a game that released last month doesn't have 45 degree angles, and the secret doors are not that secret... i just find it absurd to think those things will stay forever, but also the secret door thing is funny while valheims microsnap issue literally drives me crazy when it happens and i have to destroy my build to fix it, and if you think valheim has reliable snapping points you never built long enough or paid enough attention during building to notice their snap issues (since it is a microsnap issue after all, hard to notice if you're not ocd).

at some point in valheim they added the snap point wheel

which fine it helps players who didn't know how to snap things under water and in tough angles

i always knew how to snap everything

you sit down, get lower than the object, or you make other items beside what you want to snap to, and that acts as a guide to help you snap

but at the same time valheim removed the ability to traverse 45 degree angle custom stairs

so it's like they added QOL with their snap wheel, and then simulteanously destroyed one of the greatest custom builds you can do.

instead i need these long long long stairs in my homes that take up 95% of my room in the base because i do high ceilings.

man i can complain about valheim all day 😄

valheim is a good building game, but it has soooo many issues, and enshrouded has few, and can only get better, and it starts out with the best terrain editing i've ever seen. meanwhile enshrouded has actual ladders. LADDERS! woah, mind blown, 10/10 compared to valheim. just from 1 ladder.

and the workaround now for 45 degree stairs basically amounts to 40 degree stairs which means you'll have issues blending it to the top floor if it's too long. basically they made the custom build worse somehow. i don't know what they did, surprised more people were not up in arms about this.

right now the only advantage valheim has over enshrouded that enshrouded might not be able to compete with, is that in valheim you can make custom shelves. but enshrouded basically solved this by having shelves that actually work, which you can place items on without the need of an item stand. and there are many shelves to choose from.

for example my valheim potion shelf

and you can take out and put potions in, compared to other peoples potion shelves where you can't do that 😄

but yeah it requires 40 item stands

valheim doesn't have working shelf funiture.

so you build it. i guess. and the build is obviously nice.

I give it 16 Months, and developement stopped. No correct snapping of larger blocks included. Here are base techniques missing. Changing base code after release is always a very very bad idea.

valheim wants me to replace straw roofs with tar roofs individually 1 by 1 every time i get access to tar in a playthrough i have to go through this 2 hour process of pointlessness, when the literal only difference between the two objects is tar. just like the build hammer has a repair option, there should have been an upgrade option, you select that, have the tar in your inventory, use the upgrade option on the roof piece, and it changes to tar roof.

you say it's bad to change things after release but valheim mods do amazing things that the vanilla game should have had.

so i don't see why enshrouded, who already has a very capable engine, couldn't add 45 degree angle building.

valheim as a game feels like it was made by trolls too.

everything about survival in that game is just frustrating

the storms feel like they have AI made by a coder who wants to make everyones life miserable, storm every other day, lasts 2 in game days, so you basically have night time for 3 days. when you're exploring plains 95% of the time the storm code realizes you are in plains and probably literally is like "OH you are exploring plains, time to throw up fog"

when you have a raid on your base, the storm code is like "oh you're being raided, time for rain, to mess with your stamina" 😄

the wolf AI is utterly intolerable.

the wolves block doors, they go wherever you are building and walk into you and push you, and block where you want to place objects down. if you open up any section of a room all the animal AI herds itself over there to make your life miserable. the wolves like to go upstairs all the time for no reason, and near beds... and they just constantly try and get places where they will annoy you the most, and there howls are incessant and none stop, which is why there is a valheim mod to improve wolf AI and reduce howling.

it's just not a QOL life game, they didn't have QOL in mind when they made valheim, they have frustration in mind.

everyone i ever heard on a vc chat playing valheim, is constantly annoyed, and frustrated, doesn't sound like they are having fun 😄

the rested buff duration is 25 minutes max or something too, and stamina regen without the rest buff is so bad you might as well die to respawn back home and get your rested buff back sooner.

valheim was like lets make a building game inside a torture chamber

basically.

crop planting in valheim is torture. enshrouded has snap crop placement. valheim mod has a beautiful placement of 50 crops or something perfectly aligned.

either way both indicate there is something way better that exists than vanilla valheim has.

round building is janky anyway because when you do round floors the stone floor tiles do some weird phasing into each other that is noticeable. so if you're someone like me who doesn't like this visual glitch you wont do much round/45 degree building anyway in valheim.

the only way to cover it up is using wood.

because you can't make caves, anything underground you build leaves 1 meter wide gaps between the floor and the wall at surface level lol which you also have to hide, a lot of valheim building is just hiding problems.

not only does enshrouded have ladders it has grapple points, so all you really need is a hole in your ceiling, and you can access a whole new floor easily, and save space on the main floor without throwing down 1 mile long stairs that take up space.

you'd be surprised how a ladder/grapple points open up freedom for different builds, that valheim could never do.

I can tell you 99% why this will never happen. Enshrouded's engine is a voxel engine. That means that mechanically, the world is a giant grid. If you were to try and set up a 45 degree rotation for any block, you'd have to detach that block from the entire world grid, which would break the snapping for it. That means either now you'd have 2 grids you'd have to manage which would be an insane engine requirement or you'd have to be able to place individual blocks off the grid. Either would be a crazy engine requirement that would be a fundamental shift in how the voxels work.

Valheim and other similar games don't have to worry about that because their world doesn't work on voxels, they just have snapping and free rotation that is its own thing.

They might be able to fudge things a little bit by adding more voxel blending shapes similar to how the sloped roofs work. There different patterns of voxels could create different shapes, like if you place in a certain stairstepping pattern you could create a shallower slope, or if you place in a horizontal stairstepping pattern it could create a vertical diagonal or something.

The reason Enshrouded has benches/tables you can rotate freely is that they don't use the voxels. Some people in the #screenshots-and-art channel made some sweet spiral stairs by using a bunch of benches.

If you think about it, having the 45 degree angles would probably quadruple/16x the engine requirements, because instead of having square voxels, you'd have triangle voxels (and a square is 4 triangles, a cube is 16)

The roofs are slanted because of voxel blending. It's just a visual change that those specific blocks have. It's a hidden logic that says "roof blocks will blend together to create triangle shapes when built into this specific pattern type"

That's why when you try and individually place the roof blocks, it can be a challenge to make them look good.

Note: This is just my conjecture, I don't actually have access to their engine to know for sure.

But that's basically how you could get vertical diagonal walls. You'd add voxel blending logic to certain voxels to make them create a diagonal when placed in a specific pattern

Voxels add a lot of limitations, but other freedoms too. Like the individual voxel removal from walls and stuff. But then having any sort of physics on the voxel world would make NASA computers explode because they'd have to calculate EACH voxel. Like Minecraft has physics on sand and gravel, but they're only calculated when an adjacent voxel is altered. That's how you can have floating sand and stuff in the normal world generation

The good news about Keen is that they've built their own engine. A lot of times when companies are using an engine and it needs upgrades, they have to do a request to the company that owns the engine, which gets put in the engine company's backlog to get addressed and the game dev has no control over it.

Since Keen owns their engine, when the need an upgrade for it, it becomes part of their backlog queue to address, so they can prioritize whatever they need.

That's (I think) one of the reasons we've been able to see such rapid development of Enshrouded. When the gameplay needs an upgrade, they can prioritize it immediately instead of sending it off and waiting to do the relevant work.

Well, various reasons... at least for me. On the one hand, I like it because it gives the feeling of being an adventurer exploring ancient kingdoms and thereby amassing or looting treasure. I also liked having the opportunity to create entire treasuries in Valheim. In addition to the fact that we don't know how long the kingdoms in Enshrouded fell, that's not a factor for me that would explain a complete abstinence from currency and money. The people in Enshrouded must have traded - or even exchanged - something at the time. It's simply the need to create a little hoard for yourself and maybe show it to your friends: "Look how much and how far I've already traveled!" and feel good about it as an adventurer. As well as the obvious feeling of a once living world and decoration options. Because, as mentioned in the roadmap, if at some point we get people as NPCs for a village, I don't think some form of currency wouldn't form. At least it goes against the idea of ​​medieval kingdoms.

But that is just my two cents.

I'm also fully aware that this might go too "in-depth" for a game like Enshrouded, but nevertheless nothing has to be achieved with the said currency, or even an entire trading system has to be provided. The runes that we use to upgrade our items would also be enough for me to accumulate them into a "pile of money". It's just... Well. What do you need decoration for? For example, I would like to add small stacks of coins on tables.

I would also like to display weapons or armor on gun racks for exactly the same reason. My friend, for example, has already set up a desert weapon shop in which she can currently only display dishes.

House Hunting - Part 6 (i'm not keeping track):
This story back tracks to the time I lost the deal to claim the 2nd location as my own. After giving up the 3rd location due to severe water damage revealed in the thermals, and the 4th location only accepting cash offers. The 2nd location was placed back on the market and the Seller's realtor contacted my realtor to see if I would be interested again. Upon a second viewing, there were several roaches that were not seen before and a water stain on the upper corner in the kitchen. A quick text to the realtor's inspection team explained that it would most likely be a leak from the 2nd floor condo residents. The 2nd floor residents would not answer us, even though we clearly heard them from the first floor. I took this as a negative sign and left the place.

Now, I arrived to a 5th location that just placed a counter offer. Although the AC was replaced in 2013, it does look promising. I will update if I finally get the place or not.

Quick recap: 1st location had a fraudulent HOA, 3rd location had awful inspection photos that showed more trouble than it was worth. 3 months of searching and I am once again close to owning my own place.

I don't really understand how people play more intensive games on the Steam Deck. Enshrouded already has too much going on for me to enjoy it on such a small device. I'm more of an RPG or VN kinda person when it comes to the Deck. I've been playing a ton of Sea of Stars lately and I think it's the perfect device to chill with games like that.

If I have to do too many (different) inputs, or things get too hectic, it's not a game I'd enjoy on the Steam Deck.

Id actually say the contrary in my experience with enshrouded and the steam deck. I enabled gyro aiming and I bound the back keys to my most used items potions bandages and weapon swaps. It took a little bit to figure out what was comfortable for me but once adjusted to taste the bow fighting and aiming is awesome with the gyro aiming. The only problem would be long play sessions and holding it because it is a bit heavy but I use a pillow to prop it up when I'm playing for extended periods of time.

Valheim mods are toxic. There is this neko gaming guy who is the same person as Nevrar so anytime someone comments on something they don't like, they simply hop on and ban them. It aint right. Steam is a joke and i wish i didn't have to purchase games through it.

i mean i can see people going overboard with criticism, and attacking the game in a toxic way, but i can also see the valheim mods just banning people for their opinions and calling those opinions trolling. (or even mods in general - not all mods are without bias or great mods).

it's tricky when you ban people for not technically breaking any of the rules in the community rules though.. in general everyone should try and be nice and do their best.

valheim is a good game though, my hope has always been that their mods get better and can be a bit more chill, but being a mod is also a volunteer position, and probably unless you're already a person full of compassion it will be hard to cope as a mod... back when i left, they were already just seeing everything as trolling and seemed reactionary.

sometimes we'd talk about valheim in their game chat, and often people would think something of the game that wasn't accurate and i'd say no it's actually like this, and when i was right nobody minded. but when i was wrong, the mods got mad at me because i wouldn't back down from my position because i wasn't convinced yet and nobody was really offering any evidence to the contrary. so i was getting dm'ed by the mods saying i am doing it on purpose to cause controversies.

so basically misunderstandings that happen in text chats

i was being accused of doing intentionally, and trolling, and the mods were basically trying to build a case to ban me

and it felt really hurtful/toxic, so i left.

one of the controversies was a lore thing i think, something about the beginning of the game and how a raven carries the valheim warrior to the land

and i think i forgot that video exists entirely at the start of the game.

hugin at the beginning? thats def a raven. in norse lore there are 2, huginn and muninn. they sit on odins shoulder and bring him news. that why its used in game. who thinks its a valkerie?? thats like a different creature altogether....

i just watched it again and that is definitely a giant raven. there is no valkerie or harpy aspects to it at all. those mods are a-holes
