if you have bad sectors and the game keeps trying to write to them while preprocessing, that would be an outcome.

You can access the log file by opening up your Steam library and right clicking on "Enshrouded" in the list. Click on "Properties" and then "Installed Files" in the main box, click "Browse" and this will open up your game folder.

The file you are looking for is named "Enshrouded.log" or could also just look like a text file named "Enshrouded" if you have file extensions turned off.

Ah. The issue is that your GPU doesn't have the required VRAM to run the game. the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Laptop GPU only came with 4gb vram and the game needs 6. You can try turning your texture resolution down to minimum and decreasing your games resolution, but it will only do so much, and it's possible that any new update could stop you from playing the game entirely.

The two laptops I have in the household - both have 8GB of dedicated VRAM - one has a 3070 and the other a 4070 mobile GPU. They are out there but do tend to be on the more expensive side of the spectrum. I'm in the UK and both laptops were north of £1000. Both also came with 16GB of system RAM in addition to the VRAM and was not shared between the two.

There seems to be something like adaptive exposure or eye adaptation now and it really gets in the way with base building. It darkens down everything around me when I change my view angle and accidentally look at the sun, making it hard/impossible to see the block I'm trying to place. This is really no fun at all and I was so happy about the recent update...

Any way to switch that off? or at least does someone know the settings needed to at least make it visually disappear without the game looking plastic? :/ I'm kinda desperate, I'll even take ini tweaks if there is any

It mostly happens at dawn or dusk. during the day it shouldn't be so bad. The devs have taken steps to fixing the issue, but it's proving a bit more complicated than it appears.

There is no setting for it because it's a feature that is not acting as intended. We just have to wait until they can track down the issue, hopefully soon.

The specs themselves are more than capable of handling the game. Though on the lower tier of the 40x series that specific GPU has 8gb VRAM, which is capable of running the game.

I can't speak for PC Specialist - the apparent manufacturer, as I don't know anything about them.

It also has an integrated GPU, though, which has been known to cause issues with gaming on laptops, but if you can get them to configure the laptop not to use the GPU or disable it, you shouldn't have problems. I say "shouldn't" because nothing is guaranteed when you have convinced magic crystals to display games for you. 😄

They can be a bit dodgy in games, especially if the dongle is obstructed. My husband had a similar issue in a couple games because he put the dongle in the back of his system. Worked fine in windows, but not so much with those couple of games.

You can try moving the dongle to a USB port up front. I would also update the drivers.

Also try verifying your game files as well.
And check your resource load. An overloaded CPU or GPU could cause the issue as well.

Hello, I want to troubleshoot here (apart from the server moving problem) since the last update my game has gone completely unstable, previously it was working just fine in 60FPS, but after the newest update I get those lag spikes where my screen basically freezes for 1s and the character just keeps running straight. Any idea what might cause it? The PC is not the newest one for sure - GTX 1060, but it used to really work fine.

Just to add here - I have two laptops, both of which are hybrid systems. Neither of them have any issues switching between the APU graphics and the dedicated graphics, and will run Enshrouded without any problems, maybe a bit slower than my desktop rig. One is a 3070 and the other is a 4070. It may help that I regularly update the drivers on both of them to have the most up to date drivers from both AMD for the APU and Nvidia for the dedicated GPU side. I have had no need to disable the APU graphics on either of them.

With the 1060 - that's probably too high. Also a huge difference is whether you have the 3gb or the 6gb. the 3gb is under spec to play the game, and will have issues no matter what you try.

Play with the graphical settings, I believe they are sorting DLSS, FSR and all that out.

I use DLSS but my GPU is not reacting in any way , maybe slightly better when it should be a huge FPS boost.

3080ti with med to high with DLSS only gets 80-90 fps with 60 lows is absurd, but maybe that's a future fix...

The only point I'm making here is very simple - it used to work on previous update well, now it lags randomly while most of the time working fine enough. What did the update impact? Can I disable that feature or lower that setting. Simple answers like upgrade hardware or make everything the lowest possible are of course viable but not really helpful or insightful. I do not seem to be alone in those issues since last patch as well.

Hey, does anyone know about this issue?

When I play Enshrouded on any server, my ping jumps to 800ms as soon as the game is the active window. But if I alt-tab to another app (like a browser) or minimize the game, the ping instantly drops to 50ms.

My FPS stays stable, so it’s not a performance issue.
Discord also starts lagging when Enshrouded is focused, but works fine when I switch to another window.
Running the game in borderless windowed mode doesn’t fix it.
My internet connection is stable, and other online games don’t have this issue.
It feels like Enshrouded is somehow messing with network traffic when it's the active window. Anyone else had this problem or know a fix?

Start your client up, click play or host and this should now show up in your list of saved world. The client will build any necessary files it needs.

Sorry It's dinner time so I am only here partially - but use a monitoring tool like GPU-Z to check temperatures and loads to see if something is getting overloaded - if not maybe try rolling back drivers. There are several other suggestions that could work for you in that video I liked for the overlays as well that could be helpful.

I'm honestly not sure. If they are able to join other enshrouded games/servers and other people are able to join you, that rules out a P2P issue with either of you.

beyond that it's likely some kind of networking or steam issue, as I believe it's all routed through steam. You may want to check in #server-support - they know a lot more about the networking/multiplayer aspects than I do.

I think i'm having some issues with my shadows/fog but I honestly don't know if its my PC or if the game is indeed supposed to look like this (Based on videos I watched, mine seems pretty messed up). I noticed mostly the lack of shadows on trees/grass and the lack of that blue fog.

Im using an 7800xt with 25.2.1 drivers and the screenshots were taken with the max quality preset.

The "blue fog" is only in the shroud - and that looks like what the game currently looks like at dawn and dusk hours before the sun comes up actually in the sky. You may be noticing it more if you have extended the day hours and/or shortened the night, as there is no direct lighting from the sky at that time, and it seems to extend those specific hours when you change the time. It should look relatively normal while the sun is in the sky though, right?

Hey there everyone. I have an annoying issue that I haven't found a solution for yet. When I'm aiming with my bow, my character starts to jitter like crazy occasionally. My PC otherwise handles the game with ease even on max settings, so it's presumably not a performance issue. There's no screentearing or anything else which would lead me to believe it's an issue with the refresh rate either.

I can find the server when i search for it with ipv4 and add it to my favorites (but it will not show up in the list at all) & when trying to connect by going to steam>view>game servers and connecting from there on out, i get the notification that the server is unavailable or full
ports are forwarded & firewall has been setup as well
I even tried with different ports (and edited those in the json file) that are already open for other game servers i host, same results

The game stores the non-cloud saves and the cloud saves in different spots. This means that when you turn it off or on the other won't show up. You can move your games over, however if you have already started a world, it would likely overwrite it, as the save games have a specific name to it. Hey last time I played was like 3 major patches ago and I didn’t lag before on my friends server. It’s been a while but now when I play I’m at 89 ms when standing near my friend and 255ms when away from him. Is there some setting I can change to make my ping to him better or is that more isp based? We can play other games together and I’ll have low ping on like 7 days to die dedicated server but on this game I have high ping on his dedicated server. I’ve tested my convection on meter.net and I have stable low ping connections with servers (30ms-40ms ranges).

I'm pretty new here and wanted to see if anybody could help with this, my issue came up today when i joined my world and wanted to cook some food, when it was done and i stopped holding the button to cook food my game froze and it then crashed.
I'm not sure if this is anything known or even an issue with the game itself in the first place but it wasn't occurring when i last played it which was yesterday.

Another thing I've noticed is that attacking with wands has my character jerking back and forth as the animation seems to cut off.

i can see your driver is out of date, that might also cause some preformance issues. i reccomend you update your gpu driver. and i'd keep the settings low since your card is on the lower end for the game :)

I think your issue may be a Vulkan issue. I noticed this in your logs:

I've just built an Ectoplasm Press in my base which is 80x80x80 meters in size. The Ectoplasm Press does not detect items in magic chests for crafting (unlike all the other crafting stations I have made so far). The Ectoplasm Press is slightly further away than previous crafting stations, but it is still probably within 20-30 meters of the chests (straight-line distance). I had hoped magic chests would supply any crafting station within the same Flame Alter area as they are, but is this not the case? Or should this be reported as a bug?

Magic chests have a limited range, but it should be farther than what you are describing. Have you tried moving your press closer to test whether range is the issue?

i dont know. Some people have tested it, but it was a while ago and i do not remember the result. Also, i think they have increased the range since then in a patch. If i had to guess, i would say maybe 50-80 meters based on my own base layout, but i am not sure.

I think I've found the issue, and it looks like it's my fault. The ectoplasm press can craft from magic chests, but it doesn't count chest items as part of the available ingredient supply. Then, I checked another crafting station and it looks like they all have this behavior, and somehow I just didn't notice until now.! Oops...

The range should now be larger than the level 4 base from corner to corner. Beyond that I have not tested it.

Try verifying your game files in steam. Go to your game library and right click on Enshrouded go to properties and click on installed files. It will be in that window.

If it finishes immediately, press the button again. Steam can be lazy and not run it sometimes.

But yeah, I don't know the exact number now. I didn't have the altars in my world available for more than 1 more platform, and building another 160x160 platform for the few people who combine altars for bases seemed like too much work. 🤣

So first thing is that you are running the game on a ryzen 5 1600 with 16gb ram and with a 1070ti. This is very close to minimum specs, and your settings are way too high for that. you need to put them on "maximum performance" and then you can up a couple of things a little bit, like Voxel detail models and small foliage to make it look a bit better.

The second thing is that you are already using a great deal of your ram before the game even starts. This means that you likely have some programs that are eating up your resources like CPU and GPU along with your ram, and the game is going to need all 3. You will need to close programs, and probably even disable programs that are staring up with your system through task manager to free up those resources.

@feral crag Okay so the problem seems to be in one of your bases. the one closest to the starting area. It means your game can be salvaged, but it might mean that you have to remove that specific base, unless I can narrow down what actually might be causing the problem.

Okay - I think I may have found the issue - but unfortunately it may mean you will lose that base. There are several tables in the build that are invisible - Ones that were there when you placed your altar down. I believe it may be due to them changing the ID's of some items.

I was able to replicate in a server environment, the start moving then snap back to start. It's definitely a savegame corruption. Teleporting to the one Flame up in the mountains, after a few moments it cleared up and was able to teleport to her Woodard base and no issues

I cant seem to unlock my FPS ingame, its capped to 60, tried everything i know and cant seem to get past 60.

Report - I have two issues about the dog (which I love to pet, btw):

1. The dog constantly ask for food despite the pot is in front of it, having plenty of food.

2. It seems the dog has a very low freedom of movement's diameter. The NPCs have option of 0 to 50 meters, but the dog have none. Consequently the dog barely move far from (I guess) 4-6 meters from its bed, tops.

It sounds like your monitor refresh rate might not be set up for your monitor. Right click on your desktop and go to "Display settings" Select your main monitor (if applicable) and scroll down to "Advanced Display"

Where it says "Choose a refresh rate" set it to the highest Hz level that is available in the list.

hmm. usually this happens due to a bottleneck when loading the game. Usually it's due to an HDD being used, but it could also be because either your ram or something else is getting overloaded.

Maybe try lowering your setings a bit to see if the issue still happens. Start with resolution if it's above 1080p, and texture resolution. also check other worlds to see if it happens there. If the game is trying to load a really large world, it could also be causing your system to overload.

You can access the log file by opening up your Steam library and right clicking on "Enshrouded" in the list. Click on "Properties" and then "Installed Files" in the main box, click "Browse" and this will open up your game folder.

The file you are looking for is named "Enshrouded.log" or could also just look like a text file named "Enshrouded" if you have file extensions turned off.

Any point of interest is liable to change at any point during development and many have changed over the last year, including build excluding ranges. It's entirely possible that the devs have intentionally blocked certain area's from being built for their own future plans. No one knows but them ^^ Do submit a bug report using F1 in game though so that if this is a mistake, they at least will know about it and add to their list of things to do ^^

I've not personally heard of a specific shroud root causing issues but.
First of all, i'd double check that this is a repeatable crash (Which it sounds like.) Make sure it does it on your normal world and preferable on a different world as well (Just to check if it's a single world specific issue or a general one for you)

If both of those come back as yes, then type /minidump in chat here, you'll get a DM from the bot with a list of things to run through, normally meant for crashing but they will help to tidy up thing like shader caches which might help. Don't worry about running the 4th option (DDU) just yet though.

No, the file integrity check will not delete save files on your side. If there's no files at all in those locations then i'm sorry to say they're probably lost. Okay just caught up. Just to be sure you are checking in the right location for your save files can you first go into steam and make absolutely certain that your cloud saves are turned on - Right click on enshrouded in the library list and click on properties - it'll be located under general.

If the cloud saves are turned on, click on installed files to the left and click browse. This will bring up the install directory of the game. Hit the up arrow in file explorer 3 times and you should be in your main steam directory, then click on userdata then the folder with your steam ID (let me know if there is more than one) then click on the folder 1203620 then remote.

This will make sure that you are in the correct directory for your steam cloud saves.

That's how voxel worlds work. Think of it like 3D Graph paper everything has to fill in those specific blocks.

While the game can be demanding, your system should be taking measures to keep your temperature down. If you are regularly seeing temperatures upwards of 100c on your GPU, you may have to look into your cooling system and make sure your system is cleaned out. You system should begin to throttle your GPU around 85-95c and will/should basically force your GPU or system to crash/restart from 95c-110c (depending on the GPU)

Screen sharing is a form of streaming, and can use a significant amount of GPU power. If your game is already using a lot by having the settings high (for your gpu), it can cause all kinds of issues, performance degradation and even crashing.

You may need to lower your graphics settings in the game and/or close other software on your system for it to run smoothly.

I have seen a couple of people who have had this. I am not sure what the actual issue is, but some people have been able to fix it by using the Enshrouded Toolfix, while some others had to reinstall, one even on a different drive for it to work. Does your game or steam happen to be installed on an HDD?

You can access the log file by opening up your Steam library and right clicking on "Enshrouded" in the list. Click on "Properties" and then "Installed Files" in the main box, click "Browse" and this will open up your game folder.

The folder "Crash Dumps" should be in there and it should have a folder for your crash with a log in it.

Okay I am seeing a couple of things. First is that you are already using a decent amount of RAM before the game starts. While you still have more than enough RAM for the game it could mean that you have software running that could be interfering with the game or bogging down your GPU.

The second thing is that your texture resolution seems to be set a bit higher than your GPU may be able to handle which could be overloading your VRAM.

Since I am seeing a bunch of memory allocation errors, one or both of these in combination could be the cause of the problem.

Just looking at the task manager while the game is loading/running, the only other programs pulling RAM are Discord and the steam client.

For the ram usage, I would close any programs you might be running, especially lots of browser tabs or recording software that may be running. If it doesn't look like you have a lot, you can go into Task Manager (right click on your windows toolbar) and check your startup programs, there may be a lot running in the background - windows bloat is pretty terrible.

task manager isn't the best at monitoring performance. It doesn't really accurately display everything being used, and can kinda hide how much background processes are using.

but for the texture resolution, you can just go to settings in the game, then graphics, and it should be an option. If I read correctly yours is set on "high" which will use more VRAM than your card has available. Balanced should be much better.

I'm running a decent GPU and have pretty decent RAM. Enshrouded is the only game I've had issues with in this regard.
