Hello, i keep having steam sync error from the game i dont know whats wrong, also when i disable steam cloud and play without cloud sync, i dont have character or progress, does this means the game not saved locally ?

Okay, was just checking because Tuesdays are steam's maintenance day. Cloudsave errors can also be caused by connection issues as well. As for your stuff not showing up when you turn the cloud off - the saves are located in separate folders and you would have to move the files over.
Both ways are stored locally, just that the steam cloud will sync with the folder when it is able to.
But I am not too familiar with steam cloudsave issues themselves - you might need to check steam forums for resolutions to that issue as it may be an issue with Steam itself if it is not connection issues.

I manually copy the cloud files into local, i can have my cloud progress. im afraid if i dont have internet access to cloud i couldn't progress my character/world
Now I usually have a cloud error if I immediately exit my game - I never have it for if I first go to the main menu of the game and then exit/quit
But it's still having cloud error, saying error syncing files
Even if you have cloudsave on and you lose connection or don't have any internet connection, the saves will still be saved locally on your system and cloudsave will pick them up the next time you connect.

yeah. It shouldn't cause any issues with your access to your files though. If it still concernes you though, you can move your files from ..\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\[YourSteamID]\1203620\remote (YourSteamID is your unique Steam ID number) to ..\Users\%username%\Saved Games\Enshrouded and turn cloudsave off.
So like i see the last weeks the most issues came from steam not from the game
So my wife @gritty marsh has been having issues with the game crashing, specifically when entering Pikemead's Reach, the games CTDs within a seconds, losing progress and gear in the process.
How do we go about troubleshooting the cause of the crashes?
The game seems to be running fine anywhere else for hours, but specifically when entering the city it just crashes almost immediately.
Is this a solo/P2P/dedicated world?

I don't think she has a solo world progressed that far ahead, we've always played together

Yes, but it's more to determine whether its a server issue or a her PC issue. If you use the same save file, it negates the test ^^

Well, typing /minidump in here you'll get a DM from the bot with a list of crash 'solutions' they fix a lot of the known issues, but not perfect. Try each of the steps and check see if they help.
Aside from disabling HUD: Is there a way to prevent this overview from expanding? It goes on and off like every "milisecond" when moving (even if it's just a centimeter) and that's basically "flickering". π
I spent 3 hours looking for boots from the Gloom Monarch set, because they didn't fall out of the chests. And it was only after 3 hours that I realized that I had 5 of them, they were just CALLED DIFFERENTLY in my language. It's funny. π’

Then run through the /minidump steps and if that doesn't solve it, check file integrity, then submit a bug report using F1 in game.

I updated the latest patch and it wiped about 40hrs worth of play. Is there a fix to get my progress back?

could it be that somehow you swapped from cloud save to local or the other way around?
otherwise you should have up to 10 backups of each world in your local files

I want to made some personal quests on a server and my task was to reach the Dark Thicket Watchtower. So, since we already found it, it teleport to the it, activate the quest and talk to the flame. After that this appeares.

so what I would usually do personally is back up all these files in a different folder
then delete the last file in the series that is a world save
here it would be the third one from the top
don't mind the red pen it's a screenshot from another user π
so yeah you'd remove the third file in that folder, 3ad85aea-4 (that's the name of the world save for the first slot, back-up #4)
and then rename 3ad85aea-3 to 3ad85aea-4
and normally the index would tell your game "please launch 3ad85aea-4" becasue it's the most recently backed up
even if it was originally 3ad85aea-3 you've just renamed
and you can do that for the other ones if 3ad85aea-3 isn't old enough
it's very convoluted and I hate it but I keep asking for devs for a fix and they're like "well it's that or [feature or content we all want]" so I keep losing 
Does the logfile contain any hints on what causes the game to crash?
Have been seeing some significant instability since last patch. Bats AI is all messed up, and server resets are not repopulating the dead mobs even though the timers have all expired. Multiple resets are required to get that to work.
please report these issues in-game so our team can ask for the appropriate files to investigate 
My wife and I both play Enshrouded together and since the last patch we've been getting random crashes. It shows a mini dump error and one option is to upload it. Not sure what I should do, anyone have a suggestion?

"minidumps" are just crashes so "why does the game crash" is a question that could have numerous answers
someone more literate about this than me (eg one of our helpers) might see something in your logs, but personally I'd recommend contacting our support (see my message at 4:06) for personalized assistance

So. Getting that minidump error now. Flew from the frozen waste tower. landed on the ground and crash. have verified and checked everything else but to no avail. Seems to only happen when in the frozen snow area
For comfort, do we need the best furniture item in each category, or do we need several from them? For example, in all online guides, I read that you need to craft multiple items from the bathroom category, but I'm not sure if this stacks?

I've had these mini-dump crashes too. Before the Update it runs perfect. After many research i found one solution that might help some others too. At least for "Nvidea-Cards" there is this System Control Panel. In there is a 3D Global Setting: Shader-Cache-Size. I changed it from "Driver Standard" to "unlimited". Now it runs smoth again. Hope it can help some of you. Btw i had Problems with Silent Hill 2 and Stalker2 won't even load the pre-shader. Now everything is fine. Good Luck! And Enshrouded is for me the GOTY!
Just a quick note to say that my animals have a tendency to regularly pass through the walls and their enclosures (which are hermetically sealed) and that the same applies to the npc in my town, although this is less serious :p. On the other hand, sometimes it blocks them in the background.
Another thing : If I stand still for a while, they all gather around me and don't move.
Hello everyone, I am new to Enshrouded and am having some difficulty getting it running for my wife and me. We are both on MX Linux 23.4 with kernel 6.1.119-1 . We both have AMD Ryzen 7 2700x and Nvidia Geforce 2060. When we launch Enshrouded, it shows that it is running in the Steam window but nothing ever shows for the game itself.
We have the Proprietary Nvidia drivers installed but they are a bit dated 535.183.01-1
First port of call is always to update drivers, but i know next to nothing about linux i'm afraid.
I did try updating to the latest drviers from Nvidia but it actually got worse

had to roll back th o this driver for other games to play. We play Guild Wars 2 and Baldur's Gate 3 with no issues

Linux users have been pretty few in here... when they have been having issues, I have mostly seen it not detecting the GPU correctly... which I would say would point to driver more than anything... but I don't use Linux to game, so I have no idea where to start there.
Wish I could even get to a screen to see if it is or isn't detecting my card
check for an enshrouded.log in the main install directory. should give a log of everything up to the crash point, if it is starting up to the point to write to it at least.

if you have official nvidia drivers, open up a terminal and try nvidia-detect or nvidia-smi

This is a known issue that the devs are working on, however you should report bugs by hitting F1 from inside the game so that the devs are aware of issues, as they are rarely in here and any information (including your saves if you include them) can assist them in helping narrow down issues.

It should be on the hunter, however sometimes they need something to be crafted or picked up. Look in your crafts list for a <!> quest markers and make each of those (even if unrelated) and also complete quests for the hunter if she has any. Some of the prerequisites for things can get a bit muddy, so I am not sure what could be causing it to not show up exactly - but that is where I would start.
It's Tuesday. Steam has a lot of maintenance they do on that day that interrupts certain aspects of multiplayer games on their platform. You can try now to be sure, but if after a few hours you are still having issues, check over in #server-support and they might be able to help you out.
That makes more sense than what I was thinking. I started reinstalling the game a little while ago to be sure

No, just the things that wer suggested helped immensely. I am a windows sys admin so I know how to make it work in windows with no issues, I switched to Linux just a few months ago because Windows Recall freaks me out.
I am not seeing anything about any changes to the map markers. I do know that there was a very old bug where people were having the issue, but from what I understand it was fixed quite some time ago.
I would verify your game files on steam if you haven't already to see if that fixes the issue you are having.
hey folks, I'm getting some pretty bad rubberbanding/lag issues even when in a private game by myself. it seems to be mostly when I press Q to aim my bow (takes at least a second or two to zoom in), gliding, and sometimes when just moving around the world. I've tried putting my graphics to performance, vsync off, and some accessibility features to reduce blur. i equally tried putting the steam folders as exclusions from microsoft defender antivirus scans.
I have a Ryzen 9 processor and a 3080 graphics card, so I'm not entirely sure it's my PC. it feels like some optimization issues? all my other games run just fine.
does anyone have any other ideas? i love this game and I'm about 100 hours in and would love to continue

you know what...maybe it's my steam install. i have steam installed on my harddrive, but the game installed on my SSD. after some digging I did see that some saving is still done on the HD
Yeah this issue happens when steam is installed on a different drive. Something to do with accessing the shaders. It should stop if you reinstall steam on the SSD.

Unfortunately this GPU does not have enough VRAM to be able to run the game.
It it basically comparable to an NVidia GT 1030, which is not supported and unable to play the game.

hey anybody experienced strange freezing on linux? The game looks like freezed. But when i do alt-tab and there is a window open on top of enshrouded the game works in the background but once i try to move etc the game freeze again. So the game did not freeze really. Hope its clear what i mean π. Tried different protons allways the same after a while.

I would report this from in the game then. I am not aware of anything specifically that has changed.
Unfortunately, there really isn't anyone on here that is familiar with proton or linux with the game. All I can say is with a windows version I would say to verify the game files, verify your drivers and version of Vulcan are up to date and check to make sure that the game is using the correct GPU if you have more than one.

I don't know if there is monitoring software like GPU-Z or something like it for linux, but maybe run that to get an idea if something is happening inside your system when this is happening.
If nothing else, you can try clearing out your steam download cache and reinstalling the game.

Coming back to this, now with a GTX 4070 Ti Super. As a test, we cranked up the settings to max quality and as soon as we saved back to the game, it crashed to desktop with the crashhandler64 faulting module I mentioned above. π
Playing on the quality preset and it's stable for now, but seems a bit ... unoptimized? if max quality fails on that card
Video cards are only one part of what your computer uses to run games. If you have low ram availability or your CPU is getting overlaoded it could also cause issues. So just replacing the GPU isn't going to let the game be run on Max Quality if you still have a Ryzen 5 3600 and 16gb of ram on that system.
But it's good that you have found settings that work for you.
So what would be the specs for a system that could run on max? I get that the CPU is older but there's more than enough RAM (neither are really hitting their usage limits running the game btw)

While adding a better GPU does increase the capabilities of your system, The CPU is still relied heavily for a lot of graphics-related settings and calculations. A lower end CPU will limit the capabilities of a higher end GPU, and could still cause issues that lead to crashing if it is unable to keep up with what the settings are.
It deosn't mean you have to run out and get another CPU, but it does mean you will not be able to run the game on it's highest settings without issue.
As for the specific specs that could run the game on max, I am unsure. I would say a new generation of CPU, at least 32GB of ram and the higher tier GPU's, but for specifics, I am unsure.
I can tell you, though - even my gaming rig that was top-of-the-line a couple of years ago can't do it.
Sure, I get that, but the crash rate seems bizarre. There's hardly a chance to get anything in the render pipeline before it crashes, so it seems like something else is going on (maybe an issue with an nvidia API; I've had problems with their new reflex/dlss stuff in other games)
We'll report these crashes through the ticket system anyway though. Maybe something can be done to fail more gracefully
You can try to check individual settings for sure. But as for what is specifically causing the crash? I would have to look at the log, and even then might not be able to tell you.

Thanks, now crashing on balanced, and it looks like memory issues. But it's confusing because none of that adds up to available vram or system ram, which are both 16gb and about 35% usage with the game running

I am seeing a lot of "Failed to allocate download memory buffer," but this could be several things.
As for the rest - it looks like there is something going on right before crash, but honestly it's errors that seem to be happening from within the game.
While I don't know how these guys managed to respawn in under 2 minutes (I moved my altar): Shall I "remove" them for safety or is it safe to keep them as bodyguards (they're friends anyway)? π€

The Vukah respawned on my property and I'm not sure if that might cause issues and if it would be better to kill them again. π€·ββοΈ

No. There was no altar for like 30 seconds and they respawned in that timeframe (I never knew they were that fast and thought it takes 30 minutes of "absence"). But I don't know if they for example are going to kill my yaks if they manage to access them as they're "natural enemies". π€·ββοΈ

It depends what you mean by lag. Is there a high ping for the guest and they are bouncing around, or are you getting performance issues as host?

Okay. I have seen a few people with this issue - though mostly on servers, some are playing solo. Unfortunately the only thing I know of that might fix the issue is changing the difficulty settings to increase the amount of enemy spawns.

Steam lets you have that option.
Steam will not update a game while you are actively playing it though.

I don't think we're clear on what you mean. If the option is turned off, steam shouldn't be downloading anything, so there should be no crash from that side.

Okay - Enshrouded should not be getting an update while you are playing it. Where are you seeing that it is being updated?
What you're saying about Enshrouded being updated whilst you're playing it shouldn't be possible. Is this download happening in game or out of game?

The game doesn't update itself.
It downloads shaders sometimes. but patches and updates are all done through steam while you are out of the game.
when Steam has an update for the game, and i'm in the game when steam starts downloading the game crashes.

Okay - then you need to check in with steam support and find out why this is happening. The game itself can not be running while an update is happening.
If you're saying that steam still downloads things when you've turned that option off, then you might need to reinstall steam/check with steam support because that is not Enshrouded related, that's a steam issue.

We resorted to bringing the boss to low HP so she join in for the kill before she crashed again, but she can't explore the city at all
Enshrouded Tool Fix gave her like up to 5 minutes before crashing again, instead of crashing within like 5 seconds to one minute before, but that's all we were able to do

If it was a well that was placed there before you put the base down and you demolished it and didn't pick it up, unfortunately, no.

If they have a recent backup, you could roll back the server. otherwise anything demolished is lost.

Seems that Steam Deck is just crashing with this game rampantly since the last few patches. Really sucks because I put in a ton of hours into this game on the Deck when it released. Didn't run well but it didn't crash either. Has anyone found a fix for the random crashes?
in build mode, the single block disappears after a while if you have already built a lot. makes it difficult to continue building. here is a picture of it build hammer is out and you can't see anything. strange error but only happens if you have already built a lot on the server. check it out.

The game takes snapshots in 10min intervales, up to 10, they are usually named -1, -2, -3, etc., up to -9. After that, they roll over. so you have about an hour and a half of snapshot. Any "roll backs" you do will need to be done within that time frame

Try allocating more ram to VRAM. As they continue to develop the game - it's is requiring more of the resources they have suggested in the minimum specs, and the Steamdesk doesn't quite have enough ram to fill that - sharing 16 gigs between both VRAM and RAM - however since it generally is only running one thing at a time, you can allocate more of the 16gb of shared ram to the VRAM. I would suggest doing at least 6GB.
I haven't seen anything like this in here before, I would at least check your game files on steam to see if this is a file corruption of some kind. Though you stating that it only happens after building a lot makes me think it might be a memory issue. What are your system specs?
Please report bugs from inside the game by hitting F1 or using the escape menu so that the devs are sure to get the report of the issue.
Though I know how to do it for single-player and co-op games, I am not 100% sure how to on a server. I believe it's done by editing a settings file, but they should be able to tell you for sure in #server-support.

I would set it to at least 6, even if it wasn't. The latest update was big and many people who were able to play on undespec 3gb GPU's are not unable to, which is why It makes me think of the shared ram and allocation.
I'm new to this discord so forgive me if I'm "doing it wrong". I'm not sure how to search the troubleshooting channel for what I need. After the "Souls of the Frozen Frontier" update, my partner and I cannot get into our shared worlds hosted on either of our machines. We have no trouble with Valheim or Northguard. It is only Enshrouded which has suddenly had the issue and it coincided with the update. We've opened our firewalls (wider), tried creating new worlds on both machines, new characters, rebooted all hardware, etc. Before hitting enter, I asked ChatGPT and it says others are having this issue as well. Is there any news on this?|

Random question/problem-i'm playing on my own file that I started a super super long time ago. Like right when the game came out. Obviously i've updated my game since then but my friend keeps running into a line that is telling him Exiting Early Access Area Turn Back. This same friend has gone to this area(Big Tree Biome) and hasn't ran into this issue. Is my map outdated somehow?

Hi! Thanks for the response. We are doing a co-op play. We just checked that our build versions are the same too. As we speak, she has managed to find and authenticate to one of our worlds hosted on my machine and has now logged into it. So it looks like our only trouble currently might be with new worlds/characters created. Sorry for posting before we had fully tested all scenarios again. Maybe some of the details will help others. We'll hack away at the other problem and see if we can nurse it along.

each material for the keys is located in the hall before. IIRC the first hall doesn't need a key.

I posted in server-support, but not getting attention apparently. Hosted server on Bisect is not resetting the MOBS even after timers have passed. Almost all POIs are empty of MOBs except bugs, and multiple server resets have not fixed it yet.

We know nothing about server issues in this channel. I believe this is a known issue, but I don't know anything about it other than one suggestion is to change your mob spawn amount and then change it back - and I have no idea how to do that in a server.

Well sadly enough, the issue is back. We played for a while and tried to tame a cat (oof). It started glitching so we decided to log out and let it reset. Now my partner is having the same issue. When she searches for the world hosted on my machine, it doesn't show. Normally, the name pops up immediately. Intermittent issues give me heartburn.
I honestly don't know too much about how co-op games or servers find and connect to each other. They might have more information for you, or an idea on how to help in #server-support though. You can check there.

I may have figured this out Mama, thought I would post feedback here in case anyone else runs into the same issue. I put a ticket in to the hosting company complaining about performance. They moved me to a new node and issued a new IP:port string. I assumed (bad on me) that the favorite would update, and indeed, it still worked. HOWEVER it was causing the issues that I posted above. Once I removed the favorite server and re-added it, everything started working properly. This is a tails case issue for the multi-player team and should have LOW priority.

hey so I have Intel Core i9 14900K 24 (8+16) 3.20GHz So.1700 WOF then 48GB G.Skill Trident Z5 RGB silver DDR5-7200 DIMM CL36 Dual Kit and a NVIDIA 4090 I don't think that can be the problem other players also have the problem when they are on our server and there is way too much built
If it's a server-wide issue, I would check to see if they know anything about it in #server-support.
Sorry for the late reply, seems we might be in different timezones. Start with shutting down the server, then go to basic settings, scroll down to custom difficulty settings, find enemy amount and change it there, start the server again, try and log in and check if you have mobs. If you have, do it all again and this time change it back to your original setting for enemy amount.
This is probably a known issue, I saw a few people post about this in Reddit and other spots.
I have a friend that is unable to complete pre-processing after launching the game. They say that they have an adequate amount of VRam. We were able to play it a few times together in the summer but since then this is a repeated issue.
I wasn't able to easily find a fix in here yet. Anyone have any pointers (I'm busy at the moment and may not respond right away)

Just dropping these files in your save folder will overwrite it. I would suggest reading this - https://discord.com/channels/1046840540550942720/1233539692591448166 - before attempting to move a save over to your world, and making a backup of your current save folder just in case.

One of those saves would be overwritten by what you put in there.

unlike the single player game, the dedicated server only uses slot 1. No map choice
I have an "interesting" issue: The candles turn off after a while. It's related to the size of the base and the light sources installed in total I think. Today a new "bug" appeared. The animation of bees for example disappeared. I destroyed the game again ^^ Just wanted to let you know, maybe its helpful.
I would report this from in the game and include a copy of your save file to make sure the devs get it.

It could very well be. Light and shadows are quite resource intensive, and the more sources there are, the more it takes for it to figure out where everything should shin and where the shadows will be. Add on top of that higher settings for better light and shadow rendering and...

hello i have a problem with the magic chests in my town. i build a cental storage room. then i build my blacksmith near the border of my town. there i dont have access to my magic chests in the storage. is this a know problem? is there any fix?
The magic chests have a range. I am not sure exactly what it is, but this is what is intended.
anyone experiencing massive bursts of lag when pressing alt to swap between slots. The game practically freezes and becomes unplayable. only started happening after last update. dedicated server on a local PC.
This issue is almost always caused by the game and steam being on different drives or by both being on an HDD instead of an SSD. In some rare cases, though - it's caused by a shader corruption.
If you have your game installed on a different drive from steam, just reinstall the game and/or steam on the same SSD and it should fix the issue.
If both are already on the same SSD - then you may have to go through and clear out all your shader caches. An easy way to do this is to use LiAnDrY's enshrouded tool fix here: https://github.com/LiaNdrY/Enshrouded-Tool-Fix - just be sure to read the README file before using it so that you can use it correctly.

This is a known issue with texture streaming that the devs are working on - but it's proven to be a tough one from what I can tell. They have improved it over the patches though, so hopefully they'll nail it down soon. π

This has happened to my map a few weeks ago it's covered in a barcode. I can't see a thing .I was playing for a few days and it just broke. I can clear it as I move through it but every time I restart my game the fog of war resets to this . It's also very lagy when I move the screen around in the map even before this barcode thing.

I have already forwarded everything that support requested to check the reason for the error and to this day I have not received any response. The same thing happened to several other players who BOUGHT THE GAME and support has no interest in helping.

This bug occurs in the file related to the character. You can create another character and play in the same world, this new character will not have the map like this.
However, if you try to play with the main character in any other world, this black mesh will be present, even if it is on a server.
I'm not going to do that..I will go play something else until it's fixed. Lucky for them it happened hours to late for a refund.

I'm stuck with the quest "Ectoplasm for the Collector" I'm on the part where you have to enter the Revelwoods Hollow Halls and I have defeated the Cyclops at the end there, but the quest still won't complete. Anyone know if im missing something or if there is a way to force it to complete?

Yes ok I admit that came out wrong ... I love the game but it's just too game breaking for me to not have a map. I will play it again when they fix it . I'm new in here, and was wondering if others are experiencing severe lag, while doing smaller tasks like changing weapon, using the glider and so on. At this point it makes the game unplayable for me. I have updated all drivers and my rig is above the recommendations.

Hi. I have an issue that just happened in my world. We killed the ice area dragon boss, went back to base and got off so I could put server settings back (reduced boss hp for the fight, also think the boss dmg setting does nothing as he blasted us full force anyway). The whole fight was a mess, my coop friend kept glitching in the weirdest ways, getting stuck dead with no possibility to revive, had to relog mid fight etc. Anyway after logging back into the game, my friend was wondering about questionmarks everywhere, checked the quest journal and the majority of quests were missing (like 5 active 6 done instead of like 15 active ~90 done). The flame level was also just 4 while mine was 8 (upgraded after logging back).
Anyone seen this reset affecting just 1 of 2 characters in coop before?
Different question then, anyone know how to load old saves? I know where the files are, but the game has no native way of loading previous saves and just deleting the latest files acts like I have none at all. How do I restore a previous version?

- Find the following file:

and @bright tundra This issue is due to a corruption in the character save file. Unfortunately there is nothing the devs can do to fix your issue as they do not have access to, or control over your actual save files.
The best you can hope for is to send your save files in directly via the bug report in-game to help find out if might be causing a corruption from inside the game, but it could be something happening outside the game, even in steam, that could be causing the issue - or could be proving incredibly difficult for them to track down due to a lack of any information that is helpful in finding the cause.
But even if the issue was fixed and they stopped it from happening again, as far as I am aware, they would have no way to actually repair the corruption from inside the game itself.
Quest Issue: Ectoplasm for the Collector
This could be one of Two issues with the same symptoms. In most cases, this is caused by the game and steam being on separate drives, and it having to access the shaders on a different drive. It causes just enough lag to hold up the game for a split second. In the case of people having the game and steam on the same SSD, it's a shader corruption. This can also occur if both Steam and Enshrouded are on the same drive that is an HDD and not an SSD.
If you have the game on separate drives, reinstall your game on the same SSD as steam and this should fix the issue.
If they are already on the same SSD drive, navigate to ..\Steam\steamapps\shadercache\1203620 and delete fozpipelinesv6 to see if that helps - if not you may have to delete everything in that folder and recompile all your shaders.
I have not seen anything like this before, but it's possible if they were having connection issues before this, which could have cause the issues during the fight you were mentioning) or if they were disconnected abruptly, that something got messed up in their character save that could cause something like this.
This information would be on their character save itself on their computer. They can try using their backups in their character save, but if the backup is still there, they would lose all progress on the quest to kill the dragon if they are in personal progression mode as well, and would very likely have to redo it.

If you are talking about the map having FPS lag, it is a known issue that the devs are aware of. Unfortunately, there isn't anything we can do on this end to fix the issue, and we just have to wait until they are able to discover what is causing the issue and repair it.
I'm not sure what this game splits across our computers, because me rolling back was rolling back my friends inventory, but not quests
Just read the PDF, it doesn't really explain what gets stored on my end, what on theirs and whether we need to restore both of our respective char files to the same time point. It says this:
"Also note that your characterβits progression, gear, inventory items, and levelβare stored separately from worlds
using a file called βcharactersβ. Since the update, these also have autosave iterations looking just like world saves"
But me rolling back my character file rolled back their inventory. When they logged in, they briefly saw different active/completed quest counts flash on the screen before resetting to the bugged count we were trying to fix. Will try figure out tomorrow how this all works by doing rollbacks on their end.

It's inventory, map data, certain quest progression, levels/experience, skill point allocation and a few other things I can't think of at the moment. Basically the things that follow you from each game.
in one or 2 of my backups, they saw their quest log change (still bugged, but slightly different count/list)

It could also depend on whether they have their progression set to "personal" or not.
Inventory is always on player side though. I am not sure why you changing it on your side would have altered theirs.

i expect it is personal as we sometimes run into issues where one of us completes a quest and the other has it shoved into "inactive" and has to e.g. hold the quest item first before it updates
It's a personal setting - so they would have to look, but you can see it in their quest log. If it's set to Personal progression "Missed embervale Quests" will have an (Active) next to it, if it is off, then it will say (Inactive). they can toggle it by clicking on the words "missed embervale quests" and using the key that is displayed in the text to the right (Default is "X")
oh, it's not a setting at all, it's this way for everybody and you don't get a say about it. i thought it's a setting that would stick it straight into completed when someone finishes the quest. you have to do the quest personally to move it from inactive to completed.
Having it say "inactive" means that personal progression is currently turned off.
If that is the case, I am not entirely sure where the data for it might be located - possibly in the world save itself, but I am not certain.
i'll find out tomorrow if rolling them back will fix the quest list, but i suspect it's there

i'm sure they would have noticed all the npcs in the village having notifications above their head sooner
I would backup that folder (copy the contents somewhere else) before entering the game again just to be sure you have backups that go back that far.
but yeah, have them make sure their personal quest progression is toggled to off, because if they accidentally turned it on somehow, that could do what you are describing.
nah it's unrelated. i have 15 active 115 completed and their entire list across active/inactive/completed was like 10/0/6 or something

Hello all, I am new to the game. I am not sure if I missed something or what. When I make a crafting bench I am not able to craft candles even though I have the materials, it does not show up as an option.
I have restarted my game, deleted character and the world I created and still the same issue.
Sorry - I am unsure as to what prerequisites the candles have to be made - it could be completion of a quest, acquisition of an NPC or something as simple as crafting string. I haven't specifically heard anyone mention that they have been unable to get it, though - so I am guessing you just have to progress a little further in your quests or exploration.
I got to level 5, completed the missions in order and still not showing up. I created a new character and new standard world to see fi that helps.
I don't believe character level actually unlocks anything. I could be wrong, but it's things like quests, crafting, picking up items, exploration, lore notes and increasing your flame level that unlock quests and crafts.

I don't know what happened in the last small update, but my game is literally unplayable. I have the best pc and the game has always fun flawlessly. Today is complete s***show, lag spikes every few seconds and they last a few seconds or the game ends up just freezing completely
Okay then I suggest running LiAnDrY's Enshrouded Tool Fix, which (among other things) will delete all the game's shader caches on your system in several different locations, ensuring that nothing that might be corrupted somewhere else might be finding it's way back into that folder. Just be sure to read the README before running it.

You can try taking the carpenter and the bench to another altar/base and summon them there and place down the table. I have known this to work for some in the past.

A great majority of the crashes in this game are due to something on the user end. It's actually been many months since I have seen one caused by the game itself. If you are waiting for them to fix those, it may never happen.

Hey guys hoping there's an easy fix for this but I'm doubtful. Having serious performance issues despite my system being fairly high spec. I'm on a laptop 3080TI 16GB, 32GB RAM, i9-12900H, game is on an SSD. Tried all the minidump fixes and more besides but I can't break 60FPS at even lowest quality settings. With any settings turned up to medium or above, performance tanks to about 35 FPS at most. Is that normal?
If you can't break 60, that hints at maybe your monitor refresh rate being incorrect and/or Vsync being turned on to match that. That being said, performance is highly dependent on a lot of factors, including the size of your build. If you are in a world with very large builds, your performance will suffer, especially when in that area.
Scanning through your log, I don't see anything that is standing out as a problem - you have good specs, I am not seeing any errors in accessing memory or anything that would suggest that you are running out of RAM or VRAM or anything is getting particularly overloaded.
I do see that you are running this on a laptop, which could be affecting your FPS if your power settings in windows or in your GPU are set up to conserve power, which could be throttling your GPU and decreasing your frame rates.
I'm wondering if its an issue with how the game is optimized for my specific GPU/CPU combination or something, like it's not fully utilising or detecting something. I'm usually able to get good performance at 1440p in other titles, and was able to in the early access launch version of this game. I'm playing on a new world so can't be related to that, and I'm always plugged into the wall, so not a power setting problem. My external monitor is 165HZ so not a Vsync thing (which I turn off since I have a GSYNC monitor anyway). If I use FSR3 or the external frame generation app Lossless Scaling, I can get mostly playable frames but it's high latency since I'm always hovering in the 30FPS range natively. I'd also prefer not to have all the visual artificating and stuff that come with frame generation. It's weird, nothing about my system indicates I should be getting such low FPS in Enshrouded only.
While there is one known issue with FPS in the game, it's dependent on a few factors (that would likely only be found in an older, established world) and would not continually affect your frame rate or cap it at 60FPS.
Power settings in windows and on your GPU wouldn't necessarily care whether it's plugged in or not, depending on what they are set to.
Make sure windows has the monitor set at 165Hz just to be sure some setting wasn't reset or something. (Windows always knows what you want... π π€£ )
Also, if you are running in 4k, reduce your resolution. For some reason right now people are having issues with FPS when the game is running on that. I am not sure what the underlying issue is there, but it's been reported a few times already.
A good thing to check would be to get GPU-Z and run it while you are playing the game - keep an eye on your GPU utilization, it should be high, especially if you are struggling to get frames - if it's low, it does hint at it being throttled for some reason - and GPU-Z can tell you what that reason might be as well, whether power, voltage, temperature or some other reason.
I have a similar set up to yours, a little bit lower, in fact - and with everything set up correctly, I am getting 120+ fps in a new world easily. In my old world with huge builds it's another story, but that is to be expected.

How much RAM does your PC have? It looks like the game is running out of memory.
You might want to close any other applications you have open that might be using up system memory, then try.
I have 16gb RAM, 88 hours in game, and previously the game launched without any problems. This appeared with the latest patch

You are very likely running into issues because your GPU is under spec and also does not have any dedicated VRAM, and the game requires at least 6GB of VRAM and 16GB of System Memory. Your system is already using 6GB of your System memory before even starting your game as well, and with 16gb and sharing with the GPU, needs it will run out.
Increasing the virtual memory might work for a bit, but you may still encounter issues in areas where buildings, lights or monsters are densely populated, though - including crashes - especially as the game is developed further and will ask more of your GPU than it is currently.
Are you saying the RTX 2060 which has 6GB VRAM is under spec?
I am saying the Intel(R) UHD Graphics 630 GPU that's in their log is under spec.

It is a laptop. but the GPU they are currently using is the integrated laptop GPU, and their 2060 is currently disabled and not being used. The one they are using is under spec. While I don't know why it is the one that's disabled, if the 2060 is a functioning GPU, someone likely made a mistake and disabled the 2060 instead of the integrated GPU.
@mint trout - The above conversation is relevant to your situation. If your 2060 is not broken, it looks like the wrong GPU was disabled. You will want to enable the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 and disable the Intel(R) UHD Graphics 630.

having an issue with enemies not spawning and tamed animals not moving. playing on a dedicated server (Nitrado) and the two issues seem to be related. if the animals at base are not moving around and seemingly stuck in place then enemies in the world will not spawn in with the exception on a couple types. a server restart fixes it but it seems to come back after a couple hours.
could be a server issue, but trying to narrow down the cause/fix
I am not too familiar with server issues, however from what I understand, changing the enemy spawn amount in your server's settings, saving it, and then changing them back has fixed this for others. If that doesn't fix the issue, check over on #server-support - they may have more of an idea of server-side issues.
Can anybody explain the difference between dlss and fsr? Iam using a 2060 rtx and linux and i thing the game looks better on dlss. But i thought i get more fps with dlss and fsr but there always the same. Do i have to change something else? Most of the time i have between 40 and 50 fps on dlss quality.
DLSS uses AI technology and is exclusive to NVIDIA RTX GPUs. FSR is developed by AMD, but is usable on many types of GPUs, including NVIDIA ones. It does not use AI technology. On paper DLSS is more sophisticated than FSR.

Depending on your graphics settings 40-50 would be about right for a 2060.

I am not too familiar with Linux and how it works, but I would check your refresh rate setting in Linux (not sure how, sorry) just to be sure it matches up with your monitor's capabilities, and make sure you have the most up-to-date linux GPU drivers as well.

I don't think GPU-Z has a linux version, but if there is a monitoring software that is similar that monitors temps, power, utilization and the like for CPU's, GPU's and Memory I would say start there, see if something might be bottlenecked or getting throttled in some way.

I dunno, In windows you set the refresh rate for your monitors in the display settings. If it's lower than the capabilities of your monitor it could impact FPS dramatically. I would imagine linux has similar display settings... somewhere.

Ah, this might just be the game itself. There is a known texture streaming issue with the game at the moment that would cause textures to stay blurry despite walking close to them.
I know they have fixed some of it and it's better than it used to be, but I think it's proving a difficult issue to completely nail down - or a host of issues they are tackling 1-by-1 as they find them.

Off the top of my head? I'd say performance if you want higher FPS, Balanced if you want better visuals but are willing to sacrifice a few frames.
It's gonna be different for each computer though - even with the same specs - so you might have to just play around inside those to find out what works best for you

The GTX 1650 Super only came with 4GB of VRAM, which is below the minimum specs to run the game.

Technically, while playing an even moderately demanding video game a GPU should never be idle unless it is able to reach max frames with ease - This is especially true in demanding games such as this. Though I am not sure what you mean by "nuclear reactor 300m from bangs"
If you are saying your GPU is overheating, this is an issue with the hardware or your cooling system itself, as your GPU should be throttling itself the moment it gets to temperatures it deems too hot.
I would check to make sure your fans are working and running at speed when it starts warming up. Give your computer a good blow-out to get rid of dust and make sure your fans can move with ease, and are not being gummed up by something.

i had a crash to desktop yesterday playing on my normal world which i played with no issue to lvl 26, now when i try to load in i get stuck on the loading screen after selecting my world

First, check the game files on Steam, then try to connect to any server
If all the files are in place and the connection to the server works, check if you have enough RAM to launch the world. Try increasing the swap file or the amount of memory itself.
I had a similar problem and solved it by increasing the swap file. These steps may help you too.

ive got 32gb in ram so that shouldnt be the issue, steam files verified fine, cant join any server either, ill do the minidump and go from there

Those errors could mean nothing, especially if there aren't a lot of them. If you drag and drop your log file in here, though - we can check for other issues that could be contributing as well.
But I would suggest finishing the steps in Minidump. as that fixes a good 80-90% of issues.
Problem with planting gentian sprouts and aconite sprouts. The sprouts disappear literally seconds after planting. Usually from a pack of 30 sprouts it is possible to plant 10 - 15 sprouts, sometimes they all disappear. What is the reason for this? There are no problems with other plants...
urgh, uping the memroy then renaming the json let me play for 5mins, then i got a 2nd crash
While it can vary for some people and in certain locations - plants generally require at least 2 blocks of dirt under them to make sure they do not vanish while growing. The best way to acchieve this is by using the terrain options in the build hammer and right clicking to remove the ground and then placing the soil in the hole created. Using the larger patterns in the hammer should mean that your sprouts won't vanish anymore.

You are running the game on an Under spec GPU that doesn't have enough VRAM or processing power to run the game. On top of that, the GPU is no longer supported by NVIDIA, and therefore won't have the most current Game-ready drivers for it to use.

I will test with the soil thickness and report the result. But I think it is not about that. Because other plants grow and plant without problems. Only problem with these two species.
While some players were able to run the game on under spec GPU's on previous updates, as the game has been developed it has started reaching the point where under spec GPU's are now unable to run the game.
This latest update was so large, that the minimum requirements are less a "suggestion" like they used to be and more a hard rule.
If at all possible, I suggest thinking about getting an upgrade for it. Your CPU and RAM are still serviceable for a while, so you are really just looking at a GPU upgrade for now - if that is something within your reach.
The lack of anything but security support from NVIDIA for your GPU is going to become more of a problem now as well - for any newer game.

Quest Issue: Cavern Curiosities
The quest appears bugged, I have looted this chest several times with no completion. I have checked guides online and it is the chest in question.
Not sure what to do, anyone know of a work around, or if i am just that dense and I am indeed at the wrong location.
In older versions of the game, Ie when I played back at the start of this year, the quest worked fine and it is def the chest you think it is. I have also had this quest bugged with my current playthrough and have not bothered with finding a solution

I haven't experienced this yet but, from what I understand, it's a corrupted character file. While there is no "fix" at this time, creating a new character is the only work around at this time. I would definitely submit a bug report through the game interface by pressing escape

Do you happen to know how much VRAM your GPUY has? You can see how much is on your card in Task manager's performance window or in the advanced area of windows' display settings under "Dsiplay adaptor Properties"
This is a known issue and the devs have been made aware of it. To expedite their being able to find out what is causing the issue and hopfully fix it quickly, you can report this from inside the game by pressing F1 and submitting a bug report and Include a zipped copy of your save files.
Does this happen only while the area is loading, or are you floating there indefinitely?
The minimum requirements for the game have not changed. People who have been playing the game on under spec cards before are now having issues where they weren't.
As far as I am aware, I have not come across any crashes in here that have been specifically caused by the game since the update. Your specs should be able to play the game without issue. Please drop a copy of your enshrouded.log in this channel and we'll see if we can't figure out what is going on.

I haven't really paid too much attention to settings that don't impact game performance, but if I recall there is a setting that might prevent this from happening, or at least some of it from happening under "Accessibility:" Reduce Dynamic Camera Motion. Turning it on minimizes the FOV changes.
Yes, this option is already on. Helps on rotation and blur effects on camera.

Okay that's an odd one. Was there anything strange you can think about in the area where you put that specific altar - like maybe a fence right there, or a terrain feature?

Initially I thought the alter was to close to a mountian, So I moved it to a different location and it still does it.

I have a flame altar placed a bit north of the forge of obsidia and the altar appears to be bugged, every time i travel to it my game crashes and other flame altars in the area work just fine but as soon as i go near the bugged altar I crash so I cannot remove the altar.
Does anyone have any tips? or does anyone know of a way to remove an altar from a distance

What are your system specs?
Looks like you may have logged off shortly after asking the question, so in case you come on and no one is available - Usually when I come across people with this specific issue it is due to the fact that they have an under-spec GPU. The game needs at least a GTX 1060 or RX 580 with at least 6gb of VRAM on them.
If your GPU is under spec, this could be why. The latest update was large enough that people who were still able to play the game with GPU's that were under the minimum specifications are now having issues doing so.
If this is not the case, I would suggest typing /minidump in this chat and following the instructions that will be sent to you by direct message. These solutions fix a great majority of issues with crashing in the game.
Sorry for the disappearance, very busy night. I've got a 3060ti with 16gb ram, so I'm assuming that's likely not the issue. I'll hit up that minidump and see what it comes up with. Thanks a lot!

I believe this is a known issue. unfortunately I am not sure there is a player side fix for it right now. I would take a video of it happening and include it in a bug report from inside the game, even if they know it's happening, bug reports about known issues will tell them how prolific they are, and can also help them find out what might be the cause.

Hey, is there a known fix for "The server is full or unavailable"? My wife and I play together on the same LAN, she hosts the game. I am unable to join her game. I tried hosting and nobody is able to join my game either.
Other friends from the outside Internet can join my wife's game just fine.
I have completely disabled my firewall, and even DNAT'd my PC on my router so all global traffic is sent to my PC. I confirmed by spinning up a web-server that others can access on the Internet just fine.
I can play the game solo, but am unable to access ANY public server. I can see them in the list ( even with no password ) I can't join anything, i get the same error.
Multiple computers on my same LAN work fine.. it seems to be isolated to my game client, but i'm not sure what it could be..
The game worked fine for me before the last major update as my character is currently level 25. We played co-op online for months ( i think we took a break last July 2024 ).
That log appears to show a proper shutdown.

In other words ... when you play a very short time and go back into the main menu and than go back to the game you can play a little bit longer ...
and you lost nothing ...

Wait - you are getting blue screens?
BSODs are windows crashing, not the game. If you are getting those, you have an issue with your windows install or certain files windows requires to run. You would have to research the error message it gives you to find out what is going on there.

With the other issues you are having it's making me think something else is going on with your system, possibly even a hardware failure of some kind, or a power supply issue, but it's hard to tell from here, and without a log from right after the game crashes.

If you can, the next time the game gives you the minidump error, can you come in here and drop the log right after, before going back into the game, so we can see what it says?

Interesting. Well the character saves are one large file, so it's possible that both old characters were corrupted somehow, but not the new one. I would suggest playing that new character for a bit, just to make sure it doesn't happen after a specific instance that is saved on the character save file.
hmm whats weird is the other character was created 24 hours ago and one months ago. Playing with the new one now. But the high level one with hours put into him is now broken T.T

Yeah - I am not sure what all is going on there, but I would suggest that they zip up their save files and send them in a bug report just in case.

Okay - I am not seeing anything in here that is a clue to why it's crashing - the log just cuts off. The next step would be to download GPU-Z and open the "sensors" tab and watch for things like power dips/spikes, temperature spikes or anything else that would suggest a problem happening when you are crashing.
That is something you would have to ask Twitch support, as it's not showing up on their platform.

Those are nearly impossible to read unless you are looking for something specific. there is just too much data. Screenshots of the GPU-Z screen are better, but you were specifically looking for spikes or things getting maxed out - did you notice anything, like temperatures rising, or CPU utilization getting maxed out, or the power spiking?
From what I can tell in the log, I am not seeing your temperatures being too bad which is a good sign, Was there a crash that happened during this?
I am seeing at one point right around where everything drops down, that it's showing your GPU Usage at 0 which could be a GPU crash. I'm still concerned about your BSOD's and crashes in other games though - It sounds like something is going on with your system, but it's difficult to narrow down.
You can try rolling back your GPU driver to a previous version to see if that fixes the issue. but with those full-system crashes, this could also be a symptom of a much larger issue with your system.
The good thing, though, is that I am not seeing anything overheating, and your temperatures are all within normal operating range.
Ok, thanks for helping but i don't know how figure out whats going on with the system. I'm using since the 3rd of December Win11. Before this time i had only minidumps. My sytem says its ok (sfc/scannow) and the SSD's are all checked and no problems. Sometimes the game stucks a little bit (the last test) but till now no minidump ... ok thats enough! I think it's not your job to go further with my problem ... when i get dumps again i bringt in here ... one more time thanks a lot for your trying to figure out ... till than .. have a nice 2nd advents day. These dumps are going to be the end of the game for me. Every time I enter the Elixir Well area north of the Wildwater Basin I get a dump. I have several quests in this area to continue the game, but I don't think its going to happen. So everyone that is getting these dumps are left with no other option but to upgrade or purchase a better system. My wife has a newer system and is able to go into that area. I just don't have $1200 minimum to get another. I really like this game, but it's like I won't be able to continue.

turn on , new issue for me , usually starts up in seconds now its around 5-10 min , checked all drivers and verified local files
Perhaps there's an issue with the shader cache try deleting it by navigating to ...\Steam\steamapps\shadercache\1203620\ and delete the entire contents of that folder.
The next time you load the game, it will take a while longer as it recompiles the shaders, but after it should load 'normally' if that's the cause.
So I'm getting the minidump crash. Been through the troubleshooter (the 4 steps)

To my knowledge, there is no easy, or safe, way to increase video card memory. regardless if a laptop or desktop.

Yeah, the number just to the right is shared GPU memory, part of system memory that the GPU may use but system memory is generally slower than GPU memory, has to pass through the bus, etc., and in general should be ignored as far as actual GPU memory.

Anyone ever have a weird glitch with jumping/attacking animations? I thought I was lagging but nobody else on my server is having an issue. When I jump, my guy makes noises and looks like he's jumping multiple times but I'm not. If I go to double jump, it sends my guy straight into the ground without double jumping. Doesn't happen every time but it is pretty frequent.
Just tried to fight something. Sometimes my guy will start an attack animation and then just stop. Nothing registers.
Definitely seems like a server issue but seems to just be me. Tried restarting my PC. Haven't tried to reset the server yet.
Update: Hopped into a private game. No issues. Seems like it is a lag thing. Just very odd and unlike any lag I've seen before.
There is an issue where once a certain number of markers (unknown what that number is) no additional markers can be placed and/or remove old markers. Thank you for sending them a bug report!

Hi all, Really happy to be here as I've just purchased the game, was expecting to have much better graphics than this after watching YouTube and the trailers, even after looking through some of the photos on this discrd group.
I have a 4070 Ti with 32 GB of ram. am I being too unrealistic or is this the level of graphics I should be expecting ? if anyone knows how to improve then please let me know.
Since this latest patch, any time I swap into/out of any item (including glider) my frame rates lock-up to 0 for about 1-2 seconds, and then they just visually stack on top of one another. Even the Glider just stays on my back. And the torch does actually emit usable light... lol.

I've been trying to play for about a week, but I get constant crashing. I've gone through the suggested steps that I've found on here, but no luck so far,
Crash logs always seems to end with vkWaitForFences() failed with error 'VK_ERROR_DEVICE_LOST'
Just to be sure, you ran LiAnDrY's tool already? Among other things, the tool clears out all the shader caches, which is usually what I suggest first when crashing around this area.
If you aren't having the issue on solo games, I would say that yes, it's likely something with the server or your connection to it. Did the server restart help?
Just to double check, when you clear the caches, it will usually take about that time to process them again. Did it happen again after that first load?
I'm not seeing anything particularly strange or off about the images you posted. Can you explain what it is you see in the videos that you are not seeing in the game when you play?
This issue is usually caused by Steam and your game being on different drives from eachother and/or one or both of them being on an HDD instead of an SSD.
Check to make sure that both are installed on the same drive, and both are on an SSD.
Unfortunately that error is fairly generic and can mean several things. Can you drag and drop one of the logs with that error in it into this window so that I can take a look at it?

Sometimes it happens a minute or two in, other's I can last 10-15 mins but the result is the same. GPU crash occurs.

why do my twitch drop items never register until certain people login to my server then my skins magically appear as were running around.
Not sure. Twitch drops (and server stuff) are a mystery to me. It could be some setting on the server, you can check in #server-support - they might know.
Try turning off "Shader Pre-caching" in steam to see if that repais the issue.

I do know there are some weird internet issues going on that are affecting other areas of the internet, so it's possible that might be having an effect, but I don't know too much about what services are used. They'll know more.
Does anyone know how to fix the issue with the game lagging or hitching when scrolling through your hotbar? I've looked it up and people are saying to make sure game and steam are on SSD which they already are. I also have a good performing PC. So not sure whats going on or if anyone has a fix for it?

This could be one of two issues with the same symptoms. In most cases, this is caused by the game and steam being on separate drives, and it having to access the shaders on a different drive. This could also be caused by both being installed on the same drive if that drive is an HDD, and not an SSD. It causes just enough lag to hold up the game for a split second.
If you have the game on separate drives, reinstall your game and Steam on the same SSD and this should fix the issue.
In the case of people having the game and steam on the same SSD, it's most likely a shader corruption. at which point you may need to delete one or more of the shaders.
To do this, navigate to ..\Steam\steamapps\shadercache\1203620 and delete fozpipelinesv6 to see if that helps - if not you may have to delete everything in that folder and recompile all your shaders.
If, for some reason, deleting that folder still doesn't fix the issue - I suggest running LiAnDrY's Enshrouded Tool Fix, which (among other things) will delete all the game's shader caches on your system, ensuring that nothing that might be corrupted somewhere else might be finding it's way back into that folder.

Follow the second part of this (sorry it's cut and paste) - if it still doesn't work you can try running LiAnDrY's tool which will, among other things, clear out all of your shader caches:

Minidump is a generic message for many things. If you type /minidump in this chat and follow the directions, they fix a majority of the causes.

I think it's saying you have an integrated card (Intel Iris Xe) that isn't disabled. It could be causing issues. Do you know how to disable graphics cards in windows?

Okay, right click on "Intel(R) Iris(R) Xe Graphics" and click disable.
That will disable it permanently though right?
Just the integrated card, and you can reenable it later in the same location if you need to.
Ah dw with a little testing I figured it out. For some reason my graphics drivers were causing an issue with displaying grass on my monitor. It looked alright but in screenshots hit everything looked like clay on the monitor. I much prefer the daytime lighting though but now I have a bed that isnβt a problem.

It wouldn't be horribly noticeable. Your system right now should be fairly capable of running the game on higher graphics as it stands. Though as the game save gets bigger and as it loads in more stuff from builds it will degrade.
I mean it depends on what you would be willing to spend for 10 more FPS, you know? But I would certainly go through and optimize your stuff as much as possible first - power settings, refresh rate and all that.

1, We have found we are unable to get rid of a set of wooden ground doors that were inside main building originally & we can not close them any more either.
2, We are also unable to remove/decon the remains the lost villager was found on

Looking at that, you're playing on a Laptop? With a graphics card that is well below spec, the fact you've had 35 hours already is honestly pure luck.
Unfortunately that's not the way the game is built, you will always respawn at your last visited flame altar.
But its been working and is working again now..seems really temperamental but I do get in!
I'll be honest, i am surprised you even get in π But hey, if it works, it works. I keep π€ it works for as long as possible. Every update will be introducing new stuff so one day you may find you simply cant run it anymore.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 16GB. I've done all the steps that were suggested. The uninstall and reinstall actually bought me a little time the the area, but ended up crashing. I've been pricing a new system that I can't afford. By reading the posts I am not the only one that had a nice system, but not nice enough. Good job to your DEVs for a killer update. Okay, I immediately see that something is eating up your ram well before you start the game up, and you only have 9GB available when you start up the game.
Your Driver is also out of date by a few months.
I have two monitors and have resources (game tips) up and videos running. I've done this before and never was a problem. The video driver was up to date, but part of the troubleshooting process was to rollback.\
Hello, I can't seem to fix my crash errors. I have a GEFORCE 4090, 64GB ram 6000 MHz, and an i9-14900K. I've fresh installed the latest gpu drivers (i had an error during this install and the screen turned black and would not come back so I restarted, and completely cleaned the drivers and reinstalled), i checked windows updates, i cleared my shaders cache and found the latest update for vulkan. I've set the game to run as admin, i also tried running it under a win 8 compatibility. No luck. Hope y'all can help!

Who is telling you to run it under an OS that isn't supported? I have seen another person mention this and it boggled my mind.

well that crash was... sudden. Other than a couple of "[graphics] Failed to allocate download buffer memory." I am not seeing anything particularly bad in the log itself.
And those errors could be nothing, especially when I only see a small group of them and not a lot.
i tried the json fix and i got another crash. I for the most part can only make it into the menu
but clicking anything causes the game to freeze and then crash

Okay, let's try that then. Go ahead and uninstall the game. once it's done, go into steam > Settings > Downloads and click "clear download cache" - I would restart your computer at this point just to be sure - then reinstall the game once it reboots.

Okay. The log file still isn't giving much of a hint to what might be happening. It just abruptly states there is (maybe) a GPU crash - which is basically it saying "I crashed" in most cases.

Tried everything to fix the crashing. I'm over it. What happened to the good old days where games just worked. Just start them up and play. Didn't have to go through hours of troubleshooting. Never had any problems with this game when it released.
As someone who worked in the gaming industry in the way-back-time, I can assure you that those days never existed.
It's just more complicated now because there is an almost infinite number of possible hardware and software combinations, whereas in the 90's you had like 4 gpu's and 2 soundcards people usually had.
Combine that with people downloading software instead of having a hard-install from a disk, and you have even more possible issues that can happen, like file corruption on download for the game, drivers or even the API.
Did you disable that integrated GPU?
I don't ever remember having this much trouble with games as we do today.

have you run a monitoring software that checks for possible overheating issues? Something like GPU-Z?
No. I'm taking it to a computer guy in the coming days to get laptop cleaned and he going to do a hardware check while he at it.
What you also can do when you're on a laptop: Check the energy settings. "Energy / battery saving"-mode can be problematic with "hungry" games. And especially Early Access games can be very hungry due to lack of optimization.
Probably a good idea. Laptops aren't known for being too good at cooling. Make sure he runs a stress test on the GPU and CPU just to be sure something isn't up there.

According to task manager gpu runs about 85 degrees celcius which is around normal for a laptop i believe
That is possible for an Early Access game (and not yet problematic as problematic starts at around 90Β°C). Might actually check the temperature when not running anything stressful.
Taskmanager is not "really reliable" in regards to temperatures as it only shows one. There are actually multiple sensors in your laptpop which give a better indication for what might or might not be too hot.
The thing is the crashes are random. It could happen in 2 minutes or 10 minutes or an hour. The gpu barely worked lol
I mean your gpu definitly has enough gpu memory and all. So the game should work in theory. If you plan on getting it cleaned anyway I would have that finished first. It doesn't mean it's an overheating issue but it's always good to exclude those first with laptops to be honest.

That's the problem with taskmanager in case of overheating: It could also be that not your gpu but your cpu overheats for example. If a laptop becomes too hot the cpu no longer works at 100% to prevent the actual overheating.
It reduces drastically above roughly 90Β°C before you get the "emergency shutdown" at around 95Β°C or so.
That's actually a protection to prevent hardware from getting damaged.

When you have the laptop shut off for a few hours when sleeping: Start it afterwards and check after like 30 minutes of "normal use without gaming" (might get gpu z or a different monitoring program for more precision as suggested) and see how it behaves. Spoiler: It shouldn't reach the 80s just because of a bit of Discord and you watching a youtube video under normal circumstances.
And that's the other issue with taskmanager: When you've to tab out of the game to check it, it's not longer the actual temperature you see. I don't know gpu z but use a different monitoring program for my laptop where it shows "min / max" temperatures for the sensors so I can see what was the actual max even when tabbing out to check it.
Ah ok. Which programme do you use?
I use hwmonitor. That has a lot less information available compared to gpu z but is enough if one just wants to do a temperature check.

In my personal opinion it's a good idea to have such a tool (no matter which one) installed on a laptop in general to be honest. No need to have it running all of the time of course, but if one notices crashing or "laptop being slow" it's a quick check to see if the issue might be due to temperature.
