Im having same crashing error too. Alienware Aurora R15 fully loaded rig. Nothing obvious in crash log (attached). Steam files for game validated. Renamed enshrouded_local.json and it was recreated successfully. Cleared shader cache. Ahh okay, for once im actually not that bothered by stuttering, usually i like games to run smoothly at max settings. but I've accepted this game for what it is in its current state. The 60fps lock has helped mine. i dont sutter as much but do get them. However further into the map where its heavy woodland i do drop to 30 fps. other than that the game is alright. ive not noticed any gameplay bugs

Just harvesting and not replanting so many, as far as I know. I'd say grab a bunch, log out, so the game saves, rinse repeat until you get them harvested.

I am finding a strange issue with Enshrouded through Geforce Now. Sometimes it is perfectly fine, but other times when I launch the game the xbox controller will skip over one menu item. For example, if you move up and down on the main menu it jumps over one option to the next. I can't actually exit it with the controller. In the game itself, you can';t bring up the map because it skips over it when pressing LB or RB. It does not happen every time but it happens often enough to make the game unplayable. I don't have any issues locally with it.

In theory 2 hours, but that timer will reset every time you enter the area, so just don't wander off for more than that, and also don't restart your server, that will reset the area immediately.

PSA: Re: Rollbacks/Save Data Issues: After 2 days of testing I wanted to report a functional workaround that has allowed my group to play on a dedicated (Nitrado) server for 12 hours each day with zero rollbacks or data loss. 1.) Manually restart your server ever 6 hours. 2.) During gameplay, log your character out each hour to ensure your last save time (listed on character screen) matches the actual time. If it matches, everything is saving as expected. If the time is different (in the past), your server has stopped saving data and needs to restart! The reports we gathered and tests we ran showed the server is more likely to stop saving data after 10-12 hours running. So, restarts every 6 hours provides a margin of safety. Hope this helps some folks while we await a proper fix from the devs. 🙂

I searched and found that this could be a problem due to high framerate and to limit framerate to 60 FPS in the Nvidia Control Panel, so I did. Now when I went back in to my game, the Materials bar is empty as if I don't have the wood and stone blocks in my inventory, which I do...

Never mind - I figured it out - it was because I was in the roofs menu. When I switched back to a different category, the materials showed up. 😊

this is really frustrating...so at one point the other day on mine and my friends dedicated server my shrouded meter glitched and wouldnt go away even when i was out of the shroud so i logged out and logged back in like normal to fix it and even though it did fix it it set my lvl back to 16 from 18 and reset my inventory..this happened 2 more times and now ive just logged back into our server and our flame is reset from lvl 3 to 2 and is no longer max build range...im not sure if this is a game thing or if its our dedicated server not saving things correctly.

That's for special cases only (like #common-issues message) and the mods will point out on their own that you should send something directly to them for certain types of errors and will then announce this with official posts.
However, I am also sure that it is not in the interest of the mods or the development team in general to flood the support and officials with error reports, which, for example (like just now) clearly result from the fact that you have not met the minimum requirements of the game and didn't read. Or clear errors such as graphics drivers that are too old, lack of memory or something else.
This only further bloats support and delays the processing of important cases and perhaps even the development of the game.

But the moderators are welcome to correct me here.

Otherwise, just go to @ moderators for everything. They will be pleased. 🙂

In PC gaming you are the one responsible to keep your system updated (or at a state where it can handle a games requirements which even can mean to downgrade drivers) and meet the needed requirements for a game.
On the other side this is EA, so pretty usual to encounter bugs and optimization problems.
You can argue over that when the game is fully released, but you buy EA and kinda confirmed for that.

I have rolled back my drivers a few itterations back, I tried verifying files, I have tried to find the 2.0.283 vulkan driver install file but that doesn't exist, what ever i do i still am at the 2.0.270 even if I install the 2.0.275 RT file

the same thing happened for me. I was using high graphics and when I decided to use the preconfigured low graphics settings, the game crashes and I can't open it again. Same Vulkan mistake. It doesn't make sense that it works for me in high graphics settings and not in low ones.

What i did just now and it doesn't seem to crash, i hope not at least. I used DDU to uninstall the NVIDIA drivers (vulkan). Then restarted comp and tried to launch the game and got an error that the graphic GPU is not set correct. I ran the Vulkan 1.3.275 Runtime and then the game launched and I went to places where it usually crashed and it did not crash. i hope that is a sort of a fix.

Because when the AMD users install their latest driver update example 24.1.1 it installs only up to Vulkan 1.3.270 and not 1.3.275. I guess you have to do that manually

So kinda not sure how you were able to uninstall a NVIDIA driver. But anyway.
And to update the local Vulkan runtime is kinda the no1 solution here. It's in the pinned messages and we kinda demand everyone to do it (you included). 🙂
And since the beginning you didn't understand that there is a difference between the local Vulkan runtime and the one that is coded into the GPU driver, but I already explained that to you.
Also the Vulkan DRIVER VERSION AMD is labeling their drivers with has nothing to do with the versioning of the Vulkan runtime of the Vulkan developer itself.

BUT ANYWAY.

If you want to fix the rubberbanding ask them which cpu and how many cores. Cause rubber banding is most of times fixed by restarting if that not works then bad CPU or not enough cores

@elder inlet I uninstalled it with the DDU software like I said. And i did understand the difference between the runtime and the SDK. I could NOT install the runtime over the existing one that is why I had to manually uninstall the vulkan driver with DDU because in DDU you can select AMD or NVIDIA drivers to get cleaned. because even before when i installed the runtime 1.3.275 it still crashed on both my 23.12.1 and 24.1.1 AMD driver packs. It started crashing long after I wrote here that it was supposedly fixed. So just installing the runtime over your existing one did not work for me. And I'm not 100% sure it will work now after all I did, I just tested to go to places where it crashed and it didn't so I hope that I did something. We will see later If I can play for longer sessions.

@carmine hound it could also be a memory leak, to reset it, power off PC completely, if you don't have a button on the PSU then shut down and pull cord for at least 10 seconds for capacitors to cool off.

Hi everybody, got a crash on 2 places (one is ancient bridge north east, second is at Brittle Bush), as soon as I approach a certain point (I think it's a shroud root, can't say exactly).

I've tried the flying approach, and slowly walking to the root place, same crash and I've got this in log :

Hello, i've been trying to fix the vulkan crash for a time now and I tried several version of GPU driver, update Vulkan, update windows, mess with nvidia settings, lowest graphics, compatilibity mode etc but nothing solved the problem.
I play windowed and when I alt tab, the game can run for ages but when I'm playing GPU and CPU are at 100% and the crash happens in roughly 2 mins.
I play on windows 11, i5-11400F, gtx1060 6go and 16Go ram. The config might be to low to run Enshrouded ?
Or any idea of something I could modify to make it run ?

Hey everybody. I have been running into some issues with hosting my dedicated server. I have a bit of a weird use case, as I’m out of town. For a bit of context, I’m using steam link. I can successfully connect to my buddys private game and play normally. But when I have the dedicated server running on my rack at home, I run into all sorts of issues. First, my friend cannot find the server in the browser. (Ports are forwarded correctly in pfsense) unless there is a specific NAT redirect setting to use. When I am able to join the server from my computer I get that static as shown in the image. The server is hosted on a headless Ubuntu install. And I used AMP to install the server. Any thoughts or suggestions?

vulkan is the api the game uses to speak to your gpu, everyone who plays this game uses it

some games use directx 11 or 12 instead of vulkan

the api has multiple updates, which have version numbers, some versions work better with some hardware evn tho its an older one

thats why gpu makers do not include the most recent one everytime, so by trying some other versions i can be fixed sometimes

I do not know which GPU you are on, but if it's RDNA3 (RX 7000-series) I'd actually recommend you downgrade to the previous driver, as 24.1.1 seems to cause problems with this game on those graphics cards

Likely an issue with the combination of game engine (made by Keen, not a 3rd party "standard" like Unreal Engine), the API (software that communicated game engine with your hardware) and your graphics card. There are many many combinations of hardware and drivers and indie devs can't test them all.
This is why in the Early Access stage it's really useful for people to report their issues, post logs, etc

It is for LOCAL saves, not cloud.
With only 1 save and 1 backup, and the game saves every 2 minutes, you may if something go wrong, already be screwed once you realises something went wrong.

So last night I stumbled upon a YouTube video that said he had found something that can helps with the FPS and/or Stuttering issue, so thought I would share it with you guys. (Sorry if this is old news, haven't seen it posted before)

So apparently having the "Limit Framerate in Background" in the Graphics Tab & "Reduce Dynamic Camera Motion" in the Accessibility Tab turned on actually messes with the game and cause unstable FPS. I turned them off as well as having modified Graphics settings and have been able to maintain stable 60 fps at 1440p (with 60fps cap in NVIDIA settings). Now I do still get the odd few seconds of stuttering and occasional drop to 50fps when large quantity of objects and terrain load in but my game overall has been a lot smoother!

My PC Specs

• RTX 3070 8gb GPU
• Ryzen 7 5800x CPU
• 32gb RAM
• 500gb SSD

Hopefully this helps someone, not too sure if this will help everyone but thought i would share it just in case! 😄

Like 40 flame power = x% more fire damage...

I think (without knowing), EU, US, Asia... are not connected, i were unable to join one from Australia yesterday to hand him a Rake, but adding him to friend on Steam, it were no problem with joining, but server lists were different for him and me.

• rename "...\Steam\steamapps\common\Enshrouded\enshrouded_local.json" (will reset ingame settings)
• reinstall/update local Vulkan runtime
• clean reinstall GPU driver (with DDU)

Also check if you run out of VRAM with something like GPU-Z.

People may justg say run DDU. But it is NOT just run DDU and every thing magic will happen. Most people may just press what ever, there for do this instead of just jumping into it, or the result may not be as wanted.

First run, a popup shows:
Enable the last 2 options, Enable Safe Mode Dialog
Prevent downloads of drivers from Windows Update (this is important, else windows on boot up, may install some old ones)

Press Close
On the right side -- Select device type --- Select GPU
Under GPU (popup under) select NVIDIA , AMD or intel, depends on what you have.

Now press "Clean and restart", and just let it do what it does, and after that either try with the newest NVIDIA driver, or run with a older, some have had more luck with 546.65, than the newest, (if you are NVIDIA user), or any other go with the newest i say.

I know I'm an extreme edge case. running Kubuntu 23.10 fresh install intel ARC a770 have run all updates to vulkan, official intel driver repo, and running x11 try to boot in Proton Experimental starts to boot the game screen flashes and game shuts down kicking out this error message. [os] Query value 'CurrentMinorVersionNumber' in 'SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion' failed with error '2'.

Error 2 appears to be "registry path does not exist" or "file not found" if it's the result of a call against the winreg API. I assume Enshrouded is trying to query the used windows version via the winreg API and fails.

Have you looked for virus, malware... i know no one is infected anymore, we are 2024, just to rune out.

Or disabled items that always starts when windows runs, Task Manager > Startup, try disable those you know you do not need (enable them later again if you want/need)
Also here press Windows Key + r and past in shell:startup (see if that folder got any items)

But there may be running services hmm, yeah i rather not go into that, disable the wrong ones may result in bad things, but if you want you could look Win + R and past in MSConfig, go to Services, than toggle the Hide all Microsoft Services, see if there are anything there you know should not bee.

People who are having issues with the vulkan driver. I have an AMD gpu and have had nothing but problems, I thought I tried everything but now I think I have a fix.

1. Install DDU and choose NVIDIA in DDU to clean out all NVIDIA drivers, it will delete all of it.
2. Restart comp.
3. When you launch the game you should get an error that GPU is not setup correctly.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but you have an issue if you have Nvidia drivers on a AMD pc. Either you dindt removed it when upgrading or you installed wrong software

I went to places where i get crashes and now I don't get crashes. Installing the Vulkan runtime over the existing one doesn't seem to work, you need to clean out the PC from all NVIDIA drivers first then restart before you run the Runtime

Yeah, but they may still run the Services, but that is more a last resort, but i do not think thats the problem anyway, just trying something that i would do my self if i were in your place.
Still to me it looks like some graphic glitches, and if you are not pressing the Settings options, Play... but still short see the options, that could indicate the client is acting.

But it is hard to say, and always harder to test stuff when all you have is images, and not sitting infront of the machine with the problems.

But if you are up for it, you can try MalwareByte as @round shadow mentioned, but i have other tools also, not pasting link atm, anyone can past links, and many people may just PRESS them and well who knows where they lead, instead try to google.

@spiral solstice That is exactly why I have them. AMD install a few Vulkan and NVIDIA drivers for some games. the problem is that AMD does not install the latest Vulkan 1.3.275 it only goes up to 1.3.270

hey new here, my buddy has been having issues but we fixed it and just wanted to put this here for others. He has Zotac 3060 TI (nvidia) and we had to roll back his drivers manually to 546.65 drivers the January 17th ones and he stopped getting the "mini dump" error. I have a 4070 and have had no issues thus far. we tried everything yesterday from clean install, to verify files to even reset shader entry's in regi edit and nothing worked except literally this one thing so maybe someone else need sit.

80hrs of gameplay and never experienced this before. Sound effects would be missing, like jumping, grapple and blink was missing the glow animation and effect sound as well. There was still ambient sound and music. A temporary fix, is to teleport to another flame alter. Just FYI since it probably got lost in the above arguement.

NVIDIA drivers do include Vulkan.
AMD drivers also include Vulkan.
You do not need any Nvidia drivers to run Vulkan on Radeon, in fact you probably should not have any Nvidia drivers. Cleaning out Nvidia drivers will not "clean Vulkan" as it is also part of the AMD drivers.

I'm currently attempting to host an Enshrouded server on my VPS, which has an Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2660 v2 @ 2.20GHz (8 vCPU) and 8GB RAM, running Ubuntu 22 with Docker. You can find the Docker image I'm using here: https://hub.docker.com/r/mornedhels/enshrouded-server.

Regrettably, I'm encountering severe performance issues, with frequent rollbacks occurring on every move, making the gameplay unplayable.

Do you have any valuable recommendations or solutions to improve the hosting setup and address these latency issues? Your assistance would be greatly appreciated!

It seems to be an issue with servers after the latest update. Give them some time to fix

Unfortunately we have already tried all the obvious things like (reinstall game disable firewall\antivirus re reset router).
I can join p2p with him unfortunately it lags then unplayable, but he can't join a dedicated server anymore nor he "kills them", we hoped looking through the server\client logs would show something obvious

Can that be the issue, not connected monitor to Nvidia instead it's connected to generic monitor?

He just has a generic driver for his monitor. His monitor may not be a name brand with it's own driver.

Hi, a short feedback:
If you play on local PC (no Server) and you get complete System crashes because of:
[W 00:07:46,092] [server] Failed to open Server Info message. error='out of memory'
check in the Operating System your Virtual Memory settings.
I changed them from a Custom size to „System Managed Size“.
This fixed the problem for me!

May have to do with the fact it's a seriously underspec'd CPU...friend tried to do the same setup (windows containerized server on linux host) and had no luck.

Hi! Would like to start by saying; What a GREAT game you made here! My 2 biggest issues are as follows: 1: You cant rebind the "Loot all button". It has to be on F which is hard for many players incl myself. 2: Sometimes my character gets stuck in a autorun-mode. The char starts running by itself and turning left. (happens when i run around and loot alot of stuff) Annoying as hell and killed me some times. Only thing to stop it is to spam attack and/or jump and fly sometimes.

Oh @inland pilot I have been gaming for like 35 years, this game is actually very good in comparison to other early releases. Plus the game is really good as a game this early on
