Is it possible to get these building blocks/items? And if so, can anyone tell me what they're called? I have nearly every block that I can find listed in various guides, but I can't really tell based on the item image if any of them are the right thing.

Nevermind, I found a reddit thread that lists all the blocks as well as showing examples of how they look when built! Looks like it's just Refined Sandstone Block for the roof. Dunno about the fence yet but I'll come back to that later ^^

As the builder, I never think it "looks good" enough but I have to finish it for this contest so I'm pushing hard. As for fun facts, the concept of the build is 'Hidden in plain sight' so that the Scavs don't come knocking.

Try lowering your texture settings and maybe messing with a few others. I had this issue until I messed with settings. Still have it but it fixes itself after a second or two

My opinion on mods is if you’re using it to take screenshots maybe not so bad but if you’re using it to fly around and build then you’ve definitely got an advantage over others who don’t and there’s no way to govern that really.

I noticed that Enshrouded should probably have even smaller rotation scales.. like that in house flipper. because this is a bench that is at its 'straight' point. rotating doesnt allow it to line up to the wall here.. which was a prebuilt wall. I feel it should line up. its driving me nuts. so.. a smaller rotate scale would be much better so things could line up a lil bit better.

Found a thing with roofs. You can place 1x1x1 block at a time by holding the roof blocks in your hand. Not through the build menu, but through simple inventory

It used to work...the double doors bugged in the last patch and are one block off now. Hopefully it will get fixed! Might have had something to do with the fix for players causing one another problems on ladders and such (which also kind of messed up ladder collision)

Soooo far behind! Hope I can finish! Didn't want to enter my castle renovation (was worried maybe it wouldn't be creative enough as a reno vs my own creation) so I started a whole new build. Something I had been wanting to do for a while. But damn I did not realize the finickiness of trees. Good grief! In addition to hours of lost time redoing things after I accidentally dismantled trees, there is all sorts of glitchiness about them that adds hours and hours to the build because of graphic buffer space around them. Probably wouldn't try this if I had a do over! 🤣 Still a LOOONG way to go but I have sorted some of the logistics issues finally and have started making progress finally. Screenshot is definitely work in progress with build platforms all over to stand on, but still looks kinda cool at night!

Yeah I have been wanting to do it for a while now. But damn is it frustrating. I have had to rebuild and redo stuff so many times...and figure out how to manage support structures so they don't look just floating (not as easy as you would imagine given there are no diagonal beams to use as supports...and things cannot get up next to the tree)

And if you DO manage to get up next to the tree with something...better hope you don't have to change it because removing it is next to impossible oftentimes

you can kinda singlepiece stuff towards the tree.. sometimes.. but who am i telling that to. i bet you know more then i do. support beams are a must tho to make it look right. i would suggest roof tiles, diagonally.. but thats gonna be painful

you can put a preset form in there (on top of the stuff you wanna delete) and then delete the preset form again and with it all single pieces you had in it.

Nope, tried it. Couldn't get it to touch the tree. Even tried "beams" of flower soil, dirt, fertilized soil, etc... one block at a time (and all the roof tiles)...options I thought because flower soil would really work in a forest setting...beams overgrown with greenery. But cannot get within 4-6 blocks of the tree :/

Sometimes works, sometimes not....and sometimes you cannot even get the enormous block removed if it is too close. Maybe there is one weird angle you can get the remove option to show up...but most of the time you only get the dismantle option

Yup. Even with those....cannot get it to anchor to the tree. I ended up coming up with a metal "collar" and metal pins through the tree (there is precedence for that real world) and then built up from there with the metal "covered" with wood for aesthetics

Oh sorry..horizontal. Yes, you CAN spike big stuff through the tree to get right up to it... as long as you don't wanna remove it! I had one I needed to redo and to remove that one block (which it wouldn't let me no matter where I tried from) I had to remove every other block in the vicinity first and essentially rebuild the whole thing

aah i think i figured out how to remove those tho.. maybe.. so if you wanna use the trick i mentioned earlier (layering a new thing and removing) and it doesnt work, you have to remove 1 single block of the shape you wanna remove and then try the trick again if that makes sense

Hmm...okay now that I had not considered...that might well work. Removing a piece of a premade often (though not always) turns it from premade to single blocks. So in theory you can replace it that way.

Doesn't always though. LOL I have a couple houses with single blocks stuck I cannot get rid of at all. Tried walls on top of them, blocks, even dirt. Nothing. So finally I hid it. 🤣

LOL hours and hours and hours of ivy roulette too since I couldn't get green roofs to work as I hoped. Sure wish we had placeable ivy that wasn't RNG on only a couple material blocks

Very annoying with the ivy too. You need to place those absolute last because otherwise anything you build and remove (and sometimes even place and remove) can cause all the nearby ivy to poof and you have to redo it.

If there isn't an actual railing you like (there are only the four of them), other options are windows (edge or inset or on top of floor)...I've seen shelves too as a railing with bench seating....other placeables may also work

What if you place everything as close as you can... then chop down the tree. Fill in the pieces that you wanted to go "into" the tree, then re-plant the tree where you had it before? Maybe it will grow back up, and clip right through your build pieces, making it look.... connected?

No can do :/ I had the same thought but the trees we plant, even at their max size, are a third the size of these giants. And the plantable trees have lots of low branches and ugly dead branches low....nor do they have all the ivy and moss on them :/ But if we got plantable trees of this sequoia size, that is ABSOLUTELY what I would do!

i had the same thing happenening to derrek and jerome. you gotta take the big terraform tool and rightclick the ground away before you build your buddy. i got mine both standing on stone platforms.. in your case im not rly sure what to do. it will always connect to the terrain around i guess. though in the4 front it looks good atm

I'm building on the side of a mountain same issue 😅. Only took it yday because I kept either falling or getting piled by the birds 🐦.

Honestly it's kinda the fun part about building. The constant threat of being harrased by a bird sometimes kills me. Like they'll always manage to get me in the most odd places inside the building & they squeeze through gaps I don't expect them to come through & then they pk me right there. It's hilarious. I know there's an idle talent for it but it just has me dying if somewhere randomly in the span of 4 hours I just suddenly get clapped by a bird. Love it

from what Ive seen, trees need dirt/rock covering all the areas it will grow too. You may notice trees growing on slopes in the wild always have a little plateau of dirt to give them a big wide space

if u play locally just leave the map and load again, it wont grow max on the spot anyway, i think everytime u leave locally, it counts for a day, dunno

that may be true, but I think that the better quality soil you plant it in the quicker it grows. I will start a test in the nesxt few minutes.

I would suggest making the platfform too big, then once your tree is grown, take bits of it away till youre happy

I have had a few tree orchards now and always use farm soil, they have been very large and grow pretty fast, just going to try the different surfaces for fun.

I've made the experience, that wood stairs look good, if they're on a wall with a "handrail" on the other side, so you don't get those overhangs

Creativerse game had blueprints, Steam Workshop full of people's designs you could drop in and build in your own world. Would love to see the same with Enshrouded! I like your idea of keeping the maximum number of shrines in the world, that seems like it would limit the risk on the game engine to problems that have already been solved.

(Then remove and reload the Resource World starting area shrine every time you needed more stuff.)

You are correct, I think the idea was a completely open stair concept that's why we were working on ideas that looked good without handrails or walls on any sides. This place is a pre-built little farmstead in game and an awesome place to build a home. If the open stair concept doesn't work, your idea will for sure look good!

its the problem we have with the refined wood imo. it looks good as horizontal beam, but not (at least to my liking) when used vertically as a pillar.. you always end up having these rough edges. great for some builds, bad for others. hence the roof tile idea

I made a storage building to go with my little house
These days, my focus is still on constructing buildings that fit into the world of the game.
I'm trying to think about the surroundings in a small, limited space.
and I try to use props to make it look as natural as possible.
For example, if you have a bunch of identical wooden barrels, it will look different if you dig one up, place it in the ground, and then cover it up again.
It's a shame we couldn't enter this warehouse building into the competition.

those lines are so hard to build around. 1 per floor means ceilings will be too low, and 2 per floor means they will be too high

Fun fact... the music in the video for our entry is played on a lyre I built myself.

Also fun fact.... the ratio of the width of the first block to the second block is √2/2.

I built out the floor with an armiture so that its proportions are harmonious and beautiful. The base was laid out by banshee and has a 5/4 ratio. This whole temple was essentially a study in classical proportions.

Inspired by Petra, Jordan, we also have a cave system that you can fly through with architecture built into it. It's so hard to capture the scale of our build in one image or even one video.

I think I am going to sleep for DAYS.... didn't think I'd manage to get as much done as I did. Was a new build I started when the contest was announced because I wasn't sure my castle renovation would work as well since, at its base, it was designed by Keen. Well at least the foundation basic structure. But this was something I had been planning as my main build when I finished the reno and had all the mats unlocked.
