In this world, I skipped the starter area entirely. Went to that farm a little above the shroud with a church close by. Then put down 3 altars around to cover the farm soil, the church on one side and the manor on the other. This was also when i first discovered that if areas of 2 or more altars overlap, they count as one big area for the magic chests.

Then i restored the church, the big house close to it, and the stables and manor on the other side.

And most importantly, i fell to my death around 5 times to reach that place

Peaceful acres isn't so peaceful anymore. There is a scavenger patrol that spawns once in a while. Without building up the borders you will find them standing in your yard in the morning

At low levels this can be a slight problem

I used it but didn't see any advantage. When parrying (or counterattacking), I didn't notice any difference compared to the two-handed weapon. For defense... I don't see much advantage in standing still with the shield in a defensive stance... better to attack, right?

If you want actual number crunching then you're best off asking in https://discord.com/channels/1046840540550942720/1202622575893676032. tldr, two handed weapons don't have block value, as in you take the full brunt of the attack and thus lose stamina quickly/get stunned quicker. They will also have less parry power than a proper shield, so whilst you can parry with a 2H weapon, it'll take more parries to stun the enemy.

As for attack vs defence, that is a playstyle and everyones own choice.

i just had another look at the peaceful acres and it has a lot of promise actually

has a well, a tavern, a farm, another building that you can repurpose as a home

barns can be made around the farm

basement of the tavern for storage

and you can more or less just go straight to it right after the tutorial cave

the only thing that makes me think is that it is not exactly suitable for late game.

though it can be resolved with some good pickaxing skills

it has flint, salt, 2 flame shrines and shroud root close by

its arguably better than woodgard actually

I love that they added a well to peaceful acres, and added at least another location to the map with a well, in springlands

ive been saying that we dont get the ability to craft wells soon for awhile but after these recent changes in the last two updates I think that's no longer an issue

I would say I still prefer the design of harvest homestead, but that one is located way too close to a fast travel point.
and one of my big requirements for a good base location is to avoid being too close to another respawn point, one reason I do NOT use the starting location anymore, other than very early game just to have a quick base.

one of my few issues with the new peaceful acres (besides that I still prefer the original early access version of the main building.) (and dont get me started on the actic issues of a lot of the building on the map) is that too far south on the map.
So when you're out adventuring and it's time to fast travel home you gotta scroll back down to the bottom of the map where there isnt much else, and the further you get into the world the more annoying that is. a Very Small complaint but ya.
my prefered base location is still building a sky island over the main mountain in north springlands, which is centered nicely between 3 spires.
Although having a main base in revelwood might be more advantageous in the long run. hmmmmm

It's not. It's always been that way. Any damage an enemy takes from the rear gets a backstab bonus.

Could be the OS holding the main thread, could be that the software in use doesn’t call for all of them. In any event when all threads are in use at the same time and one is called for but unavailable it causes massive problems with system stability.

Time is by far the most valuable resource for devs, unless a team is totally mismanaged you can usually rest assured that we are trying our hardest to manage it. If "easy" things aren't getting added, it's probably because it's a lot harder to add than you might expect, and the team decided other things are more important.

I think the gear needs to be worked on more. Too many sets do nearly the same thing. The reason I want the wolf gloves is it's the only piece that increase 1h damage no newer armors do. Some do for main stats but the upgrades unlock 2H buffs not 1H
