one thing that bugs me, The armor in game looks great, though when the character moves the armor bends like skin or plastic. just knowing metal doesn't do that makes it unbelievable.
yes it's a game and do understand that makes it easier to make and less to address. yet if the armor was done proper and not bend like plastic skin, I think the game would benefit more from a bit more realism in that aspect.

To some extent this is sorta just a consequence of how 3d modeling and rigging works, but if you have any examples that are particularly egregious we could look into them to see if maybe the rig could be improved

It's not really as simple as "doing the armor proper", though, it's more complicated than that. Or, rather, every game is secretly cheating things like that, some are just better at hiding it than others lol

Yes but it still has to be modeled and rigged at the end of the day, clipping or stretching are things that happen in any game if a model/rig isn't perfect, and our game has a lot of them. So I wouldn't be surprised if some of them have some noticable issues, I'd be happy to have the team look into them if you have examples

I think you're misunderstanding what I'm saying. I know that some games have multiple layers for things like armors sometimes, but that doesn't have any impact on the issue you're talking about. At the end of they day, if a model is stretching or clipping, it's a modeling/rigging/animation issue. It's not a side effect of not having multiple layers.

Even in that example, the clothes that character is wearing are part of the characters model. It's just adding more points of failure for no real benefit to do it differently than that.

But there's so little quests in the Albaneve in comparison to other biomes. did we miss something or it is supposed to be like that? Yeah we got a blast furnace quest, we got the elixir well quest and just few more and that's about it, wile in other biomes there were literally 20+ quests around

Creative mode is probably unlikely to be in 1.0 I imagine, but it's still on our "roadmap". The old roadmaps are still something we're considering, even if we didn't finish the things on there in a year.

We'll probably make another asset at some point showing all the stuff on the old roadmaps so we can reference it on the steam page or something

But yeah, we still want to do creative mode at some point, but it's a big feature and I think other things made the cut first for 1.0

But I have some issues about the achievement for the flame shrines and temples in the kindlewaste, I visited all the flame shrines and the sun temple in the zone, but could not get the achievement.... I'm going crazy about it 😅
Already followed a ton of videos showing exactly every flame shrines to get, but it was videos from 2024, so if anyone have any clues about why it doesn't work, I'm taking anything

It's been a while since I collected all the shrines, but back when I did it there were some shrines that counted toward a biome - but it's wasn't obvious that they're considered part of that biome's achievement because they were along the borders.

For as little as bare handed combat is used I am not sure what its niche is; that said I'll eventually buy it, hopefully I remember to report back hehe.

The only thing I use Begone! for is stunning boss enemies to hit them a few times with greatsword. Begone! is also nice because it just slaps the fell soldiers right through their shield. An entire build is tough to do with it though.

Equipping a ward and unlocking Begone! and Kick kinda gives you an unarmed moveset but it leaves a lot to be desired, there's no way to deal substantial damage unless you are really using your terrain and surroundings

All that being said, I love Begone! - personally, I will always prioritize unlocking Begone! over Double Jump

In DLSS 4.5, transformer Models L and M are not compatible with Enshrouded (and several other games, likely because Nvidia didn't test them); for the time being switching it to Model K will fix it; if that is not an option, then turning off DLSS is the only way I know of to get rid of black screens.

I do not use DLSS 4.5, I use Preset K or "Recommanded" or else with a 3090
But since a few days, I do not have any "DLSS replacement" available in the Nvidia App in the program parameters Enshrouded, it's only available in the global parameters
I do not have black screens or anything else, just the DLSS not available anymore in the NV App for Enshrouded

anyway, it's not "just me" and I can play with no issue, so it's cool 🙂

This is related to the windows 11 setting "Smart App Control", it's a new security setting that windows 10 didn't used to have that tries to determine (with AI, I think?) if apps are "verified."

It's currently conflicting with a lot of steam games and other applications, the feature doesn't seem to work very well at all, and Microsoft is doing a very poor job at communicating with developers as to why their apps are being blocked. Currently, I recommend just disabling the feature. As long as you aren't running random .exe files you don't trust, the feature doesn't really do anything.

We're looking into it, but the problem is on Windows end, so we're not sure when it might be fixed.

Probably helpful, but this seems to be happening with most people who have this feature enabled. For some reason the team at microsoft designed this tool to see a lot of steam games as threats and try to block them lol, it's happening to quite a lot of steam games at the moment

I suspect that it uses some kind of AI to determine what apps to block which is why it seems so inconsistent, but they've given us basically no information on how it works or what to do if your app is being blocked, so we can only really guess.

Enshrouded addresses so many issues I have with survival/crafting games. (Not issues that are enough time deter me from playing.)

Like, it has quests, and stuff, which give more purpose. Not having purpose kinda takes away for me. That's why I play Minecraft in creative. The survival mode just doesn't have enough of a clear drive.

And then there's NPCs, which makes my villages feel more alive. I always make little settlements in these type of games and headcanon them as villages, but they don't have that sense of life that I can give them in Enshrouded.

Yeah, and that is a lot of people's issue to be honest. You will be able to run the game, that shouldn't be an issue. I just prefece the laptop thing when I can so people understand what they are being sold. It's like buying eggs at 7-11. it's more expensive, and probably not the best quality, but fine when you have no other choice.

Back in the early aughts, it was the only gaming system people would buy - and it was actually good. nowadays they just look fancy and cost a lot more than they are worth.

Stay away from big brands like Alienware. You pay for the name and unless you're going silly money can usually get way better for less.

Laptop hardware scales different due to being so compact. Similar rules apply with graphics and processor though. You also want to check your power options, as almost all laptops will throttle performance when not plugged in. Some more than others. However, keeping them plugged in ALL the time, also kills the battery life. >.< Gaming and laptops is always a difficult mix.

I have no idea, usually after 3+ hours I will get a HARD pc crash. No error code, no crash log. It's tought to troubleshoot, but ran the tools did some known community fixes and hoping for the best!

Like died last night deep in the shroud to the NE and on respawn just POOF. No items icons in hottbar or inventory, and just locked my PC up tight

oof. Well pop into troubleshooting if it continues, I can walk you through a couple of ways to check to see what may be going on. Hard crashes can be rough, because it usually means the game is triggering some kind of instability on your system, and those can be rough to track down a lot of times.

Ikr? I was stumped when it happened the first time, funnily enough the only other game to do it was actually Monster Hunter Wilds. So it must be something to do with either A) Caching B) Shaders

My best guess is causing a fatal runtime error somewhere in my GFX or other and POOF system reboots for safety.

I could probably download a process sniffer that does solid state monitoring, or hook it up to a slave and have it act as a monitor for the crash

But I will offer some advice: Look up youtube tutorials on Procedural Generation. That can help you quickly build out terrain for a world, and it's free. Once you know how to do that, it can really help you create a much larger world and populate it with interesting mechanics.

If you have support from your parents, you can also look at paid courses. There are some courses on Udemy that can teach you a LOT about game and level design principles, and they're often discounted to very reasonable prices (like $20 or so on the regular)

As for what you're designing, it's good to dream big, but start small. Choose a project that is scoped such that you might be able to accomplish it by yourself. Building a very big build right off the bat is going to be EXTREMELY time and effort intensive and you might not be able to get it to a point where you're happy with it.

If you're looking to eventually go into game design as a career field, creating a portfolio of projects that you've made is excellent and employers aren't going to need you to have build a massive world to prove that you've got the skills they're looking for.

Small projects will help you learn and get better, and will probably save you time when you eventually look to take on that sort of larger project that you dream of.

In Enshrouded, do these large structures built by the ancients have a purpose or loot inside of them? I'm not talking about the Ancient Spires, I've come across a few structures that are similar looking to the vaults where you can find Craftspeople, but they have no doors and I haven't found any loot or anything around them
