Could you guys explain the reasoning for why each time you place a storage chest in 1st person and your hotbar is empty and you ctrl+LMB to shortcut it to the hotbar that it takes you out of the first person mode? This is extremely annoying especially if your placing multiple chests repeatedly.

its because you are leaving build mode when switching. nothing you can do about it. as soon as you leave a build item for anything other than another build item or tool, it will exit first person

It was funny. I was playing with a group the other day. Everytime we opened a chest we bet whether there would be 2 bows and a sets of daggers or 2 sets of daggers and a bow....only like 15% of the time was it something other than those. RNG does not like us mages (three of the group plays mages, only the one archer was making out with all the gear, the tank was lucky if a sword showed up)

Actually, I'm fine with RNG for the most part (used to it from all the other games that have RNG)....I just want to stop seeing torn cloth drop from mobs as you get higher. If we could use torn cloth as blocks, I'd have been able to make three huge cloth mountains out of cloth blocks.

If you've got all the backups, it should be.... 20 something files (The backups are needed for loading purposes unless you adjust the index/info file) The cloudsave state doesn't matter.

you can share large files for free using Wetransfer.
It's free up to 2.0 GB. you create a link for some1 else or mail them. The only downside of free user is that its only valid for 7 days. If you wanna extend it you need premium 😑

Backing up saves question: I know you need the WorldFile, WorldInfo, World Index, World Info-Index File as well which is 4. I think I heard you need the .JSON file as well when backing up the save. Is that true?

It isn't a bug, it's just not clear. It doesn't count level 1 because you start at level 1. So your first stat point from flame level would be at 3 (because it's every two additional levels of the flame)
I think it's also bugged somehow, but that isn't part of it

Throughout the game it seems like almost every other building has either hidden doors of the bookcase variety, or actual bookcases placed in front of other secret doors/openings to hide them. I swear at one point after I was so used to finding treasure in these places, I saw a secret bookcase door, slid it open, and... nothing. A solid wall. I think one of the level designers must have got so tired of the secret doors they just started trolling us! (I wish I could remember which building this was, but sadly all I recall with certainty was that the blank wall behind it was beige/tan, which implies Nomad Highlands or Kindlewastes).

They should make a clan system (idk if there is one already or not, I'm mainly solo/singleplayer) and make it so that everyone has their own crafting NPC access unless in a clan, which then gives shared access/limitations.
Same goes for altars tbh.

No survival game is "massively multiplayer" but they generally adopt a similar clan structure because it enables people more options to play how they wish, socially.
I think it makes perfect sense. It doesn't impede on the lore or gameplay, other than allowing friends who want to play together but not TOGETHER to do so.

We only have the video options to limit FPS in the background.
No ingame setting to limit FPS to 30 - 60 - 75 - 100 - 120 - 144 or 240.
I've already helped some1's potato by guiding them towards how to FPS lock a game through graphic cards control panel.
Didn't even know until just now but there's even a reddit post particularly for enshrouded FPS lock set-up that is the same method. that post was jan 2024
I also did it cause with my 4080 it's trying to reach an FPS in the 200's with V-sync turned off. Turning v-sync on made gameplay feel less fluent for some reason, little jitter every now and then. Refresh rate of monitor (120 Hz)
On an offnote i do hope Enshrouded targets to launch the console game on 60 FPS, and crossplay is enabled 👀

Figured crossplay would be a tall order.
Although i think the game would explode on release if it has crossplay.
There's a very small market in games that present both crossplay + quality + something you can spend a lot of time enjoying.
I do sincerely hope some optimization and/or performance mode is possible to enable play on 60 FPS with console. (shadow off - lumen & raytracing dialed down etc.)
I'm seeing more and more console games (with open world content) that offer this 30 fps default setting and 60 fps performance mode.
not a streamer, nor do i watch them a lot. but i do get the impression they instantly select that 60 fps mode with less graphics over the 30 fps when streaming a console game

Problem, as with all, are the prioritys.

If the game would've been made from the ground up to support this, I think it would've been possible. Problem is, it is not made with that in mind and implementing that as an afterthought - especially with a game that excessive in ressources as it is Enshrouded could easily disappoint because there are various factors. For example just the stability of the network and how it's hosted.
I doubt a console will ever be able to host a game of 4+ people except it's a monster.
Hence, my PC cannot even do that without a crash after an hour. (Well last time I tested)
And I am not really at min specs with my PC, more like the middle of the spec
Not to mention I can see them, because they're using their own engine, having not an easy time with crossplay.
But I don't know the specifics.

The option to set performance mode on for console to reach 60 FPS is something that might be more within reach. disabling shadow, raytracing etc.

The problem with that, the 'performance' mode looks fugly. (compared to how good it CAN look) turning off shadows and the likes will not lower requirements enough, so i agree, it's doable, but it'll be.... yea i don't envy their job 😄

I have glanced around, not really dug too deep into it, but was wondering, will Enshrouded ever get random seeds to play or will it always be a fixed map? I know some games have both options, one a storyline, and one a random seed, just not sure how difficult that would be or if it's even possible with Enshrouded?

Procedural generation and a lower digging deck is what I am interested in. It could be a forever game if they had that.
Imagine digging through shrooms or flintrock to find a whole ass cave system underneath full of baddies.

I like the handcrafted map. Procgen might give variation and replayablility, but locations and POIs might be very samey. I'd miss the locations that tell a story and finding out what went on there
Didn't Starfield do procgen and it turned out to be a whole load of empty

In my experience a lot of the people asking for proc gen want the game to be exactly the same, but randomly generated. I.E the same quality, but infinite and random. Which yeah would be totally awesome if that was possible.
But that's just not how proc gen works, a proc gen version of Enshrouded would have a world that's far more simple and repetitive than what you have now. Not to mention would take a complete restructuring of the game as a whole.

As far as I know, FSR 3.1 currently remains unimplemented in Enshrouded.

Thanks. Most games that have FSR 3.1 will still call it FSR 3 in options (which is completely fine as most people would be confused) so it is hard to tell.

As long as you don't use steam cloud it shouldn't be an issue. That was the main culprit for people losing progress
Not sure it would matter with a dedicated server
Though a good rule of thumb is to disable cloud saves

Okay even if not "procgen" having a subsurface labyrinth that you accidentally dig into would be epic. People would be stockpiling mined reagents.

I have a random question if anyone knows about it. Am currently doing a coop with a friend and we are trying to unlock and do everything on our own. Another friend we were playing with joined the server with an older character of theirs and it suddenly started unlocking a bunch of recipes for the both of us. Is this a coincidence or can higher progress characters unlock recipes for the worlds they join. It seems to have only unlocked recipes we were about to unlock soon in our own progression and they insist it was just something we did when we were just trying to recover our bodies at the time. The timing seems way too convenient and upon trying it again with a different character it didn't unlock any recipes for us. So we just don't know. Can't find anything on it online either. It is mostly info on characters retaining their own unlocked recipes

I would say the best way to see is for one of you to create a new server with a new character, unlock the first home, build a work bench, then have the other one with a character from your current server jump on and see what unlocks.
Also, it could have been stuff in his bags too. I thought they fixed that but someone having part of a recipe can sometimes unlock stuff.
