Yep, what resolved it was resummoning all my NPCd and assigning each a bed.

The bug seemed to be related having NPCs who after patch were “Summoned” but didn’t have any state in the world, and it was preventing mobs from spawning except small ones like bats.

Was really having an annoyance with it, because server restarts seemed to resolve it but all the mobs would despawn about an hour later.

You kind of use them like coins. At the crafters (like the blacksmith or the hunter) at the top of the menu they have the "enhance equipment" option that will strengthen your weapons and unlock all those gray locked stats, and you spend runes for each upgrade

So salvaging equipment becomes pretty important to powering up

Your gravestone should spawn on the last bit of solid ground you were standing on before gliding

Also you only lose gathered resources, all your gear and crafted stuff should be fine

I've said it a couple times in here, but the theory we cooked up in chat one day is that since the shroud is covered in fungus, it's actually caused by a massive fungal colony. The fungus absorbed all the water and releases it as a mist that contains the spores, which is why it's deadly. Also the reason the shroud is always in low-lying areas, the lake beds and rivers are where it grew the most xD

I also know a bit about the fungal kingdom, due to my dad & I being fairly avid mushroom hunters. Like the red mushrooms you find in the Springlands appear to be a type of Morel (which are excellent, BTW) and the "Yellow Shroud Mushrooms" in the Albaneve summits are obviously Chanterelles (which do make an excellent soup, BTW). I've collected both.

Mushroom hunting has always seemed interesting to me, but I'm not quite brave enough to go ahead with it because of how many stories you hear about someone making that one mistake

But yeah, the shroud & mycellium is a giant (possibly semi-sentient & evil) fungus. I've seen enough mycellium & hyphae in RL to recognize the growth patterns of the shroud fungus in game, and with all the various mushrooms & shroud zombies (who seem to be infested with a shroud variant similar to this one ant parasite fungus that takes over the host's brain & has a spore producing body sprout out thei back like with the shroud zombies), the shroud itself is 99% made up of airborne spores from all the various shroud mushrooms (which are actually the spore producing structures of any fungus. The mycellium is the actual organism).

I like to think the reason the flame is effective against it for a time is because since it burns within you metaphysically, it actually burns the spores you're breathing in for a time, but it can only hold out for so long based on how strong it is, like how you can throw one log on a fire and it will burn fine, but throw 7 on there and it will burn out

That's why we can survive in there for a while, but not indefinitely

That is my working theory as well: That your inner fire actually burns the spores that come in contact with you, and the whole "Shroud Filter" perk's description seems to back this up.

Also yeah, since in the theory in my head says that the spores are floating around in the mist, the fell are actually the former humans who were infected and when you 'die' in the shroud, that's the point you should have been infected but rather your flame was just snuffed out

Actually I think a really cool idea for an end boss would be the shroud-infected person who started spreading it in the first place and in their infected state, they're actually trying to spread it more. Like they were so caught up in the idea of saving people with the fungus that when they were turned into a shroud-zombie, it amplified their desire to spread the fungus more

Where you can find the dried-out remains of people and when you touch them they turn to dust. Like people who were infected but it was so arid they completely dried out because they were so far away from moisture

Like maybe they were infected but before their brains were completely zombified, they tried to return home but they couldn't survive because it was too dry

The only thing i notice with performance so far, is every update they of course introduce more, which is putting more and more strain on peoples hardware (Most of the underspecced stuff has practically stopped working at this point) If it keeps going like this, i get the feeling it's counter intuitive to do too much on optimsation/performance (Aside from what's actually needed) Because they'll end up doing double work when they have to redo half of it after an update.

That shouldn't be an issue. the foundations and walls are 4x4/4x1x8 and 8x8/8x1x8 They shouldn't ever be off.

the flame level is not bound to the altar (the one that requires heads) but the altar level (the one that expands the size) will be lost.

Altars can't be moved, only deconstructed so your altar level can't be saved. Good news it it only costs the spoers and nothing else

Uhhhhh i got about 100 hours amd that was with three people working together

Finished all the quests at the time unlocked all spires and collected all.... the flame things

But that was all the content of the original release. We started the day it released

We could easily put a few tens of hours for building but we got all the region unique gear etc

In something like this, it all comes down to how you personally play the game. If you just follow quests, build whats needed to continue and kill clear your quest log, will you get 100 hrs? Probably not. If you like exploring, collecting, building will you spend 100 hrs? Easily.

I think some of the highest numbers i've seen people floating around is 1500...

Honestly though, don't look at it as a time sync, look at it for content. If you've not played any of the updates then there has been a lot of content added to the game since then, from dungeons to sub biomes as well as an entirely new biome in the recent update. Mingled in with new mechanics, tons of building materials and a large number of QOL improvements, i'd say there's plenty to give it another run through.
