Keep an eye on the tooltip. Go near with crouching 'c'. When you see the ? stand still. When you see the ! go away. Throw the food in front of the animal if possible. If the heart is blinking go near and pet the cat. Still watch out for ? and !.

Yeah unfortunately it does not look like that is a setting you can change without dedicated hosting. Only these generic permissions you can assign to the roles available.

It is always on by default, the quest log tracks quests for each individual player

The only common progress currently in the game is that if someone rescues a crafting NPC everyone can use them without completing the quest themselves, though the quest will appear as incomplete in their quest log until they do so.

Yeah true, default being what it is, seems like you may be confusing - rehosting at that moment, to share quest objectives when you join in - which it wont do.

Shared quests will share with players online when that quest objective is completed. Not historically just because the host already did it. - This as Minotorious said does not apply to NPC quests

The NPC will be unlocked for everyone, but the quest itself will still be shown as incomplete if you haven't yourself gone through it, so it is really a choice if you want to use the NPC someone else unlocked or first complete the quest yourself and then use them

Do double check the server settings, whether solo or dedicated, as you can change stamina, both enemy and player.

Throw bait in front of them and wait, if they path to it and start eating and you see a yellow heart then move towards them, stop when you see the question mark, move when they go back to eating. After that you pet and repeat. It's not a difficult mechanic.

People will throw multiple bait to the left/right or will be impatient and scare it.

I found the lighting to be vastly improved in this patch so far but yeah I can see why you may not like it. the orange tint effect has been a long standing thing for me so not sure what can be done

I have however notice the effect is greatly amplified if the room has a large amount of the plamwood blocks. If I use some othe material for the walls and floor it lessens considerably

I found an interesting bug: The models/textures for the Granite Shingle Roof blocks & the Ornate Granite Roof blocks have been swapped: I crafted the Shingle block & when I built with it, it looked like the Ornate & vice versa. I shall be waiting until that gets fixed to use more of those, but I do love how both look. Even though they were obviously made with Nordic/German structures in mind, they both look wicked cool on my fancier Mayan builds.
