Couple reasons for water.
Weather aside, which to be honest may not be game changing but is important for live-in survival crafting games. Its clear the devs want us to build some nice cozy stuff. Its missing a lot when there isnt thunder storms kicking every now and then. Its one of my personal favorite things in survival crafties to stay at home on rainy days and thunderstorms and do the crafting and some extra building like in Valheim
Second is logical worldbuilding. Where is the water in the wells coming from? Where are animals drinking from? life needs water.
Third is potential emerging mechanics such as travel via boat, fishing, sunken points of interest etc.
Finally its really nice to build near and over it.

Keen stated very early, pvp is not something they're planning to implement, at least not in near future. I guess it can be added once they finish their current roadmap

Like FO76 and the explosive gatling plasma, took the devs 5 years to get that monstrosity out of the game (aholes that they are) then hardly a week passes and they added the Nuka Launcher which was just as bad if not worse. Some of those devs need a thrashing.

you can have as many as each kind as you want but each type can only hold specific types of items

A good example is sometimes they update POIs in the world, and if your altar is in one of those locations, it can make things look funky because the terrain outside your altar has changed but the altar area is 'saved'

Completely understandable about the water. As someone who has years of experience building underwater structures & tunnels beneath oceans to connect distant bases in that game, I can say that even Minecraft's current method of handling it can be a bit wonky at times, to say the least, even if it is much better than the old Alpha "flood the world" physics it used to have.
One thing that would be kinda nice would be the ability to collect & place the muck (like you find all over the Revelwood) or tar/ooze from the Blackmire, even if it would be just like any other terrain block. Minecraft essentially is just a series of checks, it kinda has "water physics" by just cheating lol. Basically you start with source water blocks, and from that point on the game just runs checks every tick to see what's adjacent to it. If it's air with ground underneath, the water "flows" in 8 stages, and if there's no ground it drops down a block.
I think those kinda tricks would... maybe work in Enshrouded? But doing it in a way that doesn't look super janky or out of place is the tough part haha

The flow of water in minecraft is very slow/janky due to how intensive it is,
It would look very laglike in enshrouded compared to all the other animations yeah,
So cant be done quite like that

IMO, I think the way Minecraft currently does water is probably about the best way to handle water in a voxel based game, even if it's not perfect, since I honestly don't see how it could be done much better in that sort of game. Regardless, it's not a super huge deal either way for me. I mean it took me quite a while to realize that weather effects hadn't been implemented yet because I was just having too much fun with the game as it was on launch & its only been getting better since.

As someone with enitrely too many hours in Minecraft, Enshrouded's basic blocks are 0.5m x 0.5m or 1/8 the size of a minecraft block (the one block tool in the top row that lets you place 2x2x2 blocks is essentially the Minecraft block tool). I even was able to rebuild some of my standard structure types in Enshrouded (but better) using that conversion system.

I actually based the fortified Hacienda I built on top of the Pillars of Creation partially on one I built in the last Minecraft single player survival world I played on. Main difference is the Enshrouded Hacienda is essentially a mirror image of the Minecraft one (i.e. the workshops & kitchen in the Enshrouded version are on the side where the guard tower was on in the Minecraft version & vice-versa). I should probably post all the screenshots & video tour of the Hacienda in the Base Design Showcase....
