no, I just said. You don't become the baron, you just stay in the lord rank. You can keep doing lord tourneys to get the baron's armor over and over.

Baron isn't a rank atm. In demo it was. The current "baron" as he's known isn't even really a baron technically, he's a lord himself. He took over after the old lord died according to the lore, he's just still known colloquially as the baron it seems

I agree. I can see why we can't fight inside the tavern itself though. The merchant and smiths work there, fencer is there, etc. Patrons come and go. If the violent fights set up by Gottfried and the jester spilled out of the cellar/alley into the tavern itself they'd probably lose all their business then we'd be homeless.

Since the new weapon grip change, I've found it much harder to slash towards the opponent with the blade tip using long-handled weapons like halberds.

I've looked at the exact stats for the 4spike maul head and the barons beak.
its a straight upgrade, but blunt damage is already overkill by default so it doesnt really make much of a difference besides the spike penetrating armor I guess.

I'm also curious exactly where the "workshop" is. I believe it may be a building separate from the tavern itself, sort of like an annex. I say this because if we freecam, it's just a single room it seems. Near the smithy, there are three big grindstones powered by a watermill, so it seems it's next to a river.

Looking at the depiction of Frankenburg in the book, there's a small building next to a river with a watermill attached to it which reminds me of the workshop. Not saying this is the same exact building but it could be, just speculating.

The protagonist lives in the tavern, and the merchant and weaponsmith/armorsmith set up shop here, but both of these guys also work out of this little workshop building since the smithy is located there as well as the table where the merchant displays his goods and insures and what not. I believe this workshop is an annex building to the tavern itself, I could be wrong though

You only go to the abyss(hell) if you kill people. Their souls haunt you in the afterlife in the form of revenants, who you have to put down a second time in order to "save" your own soul.

Which is why if you don't have any vengeful souls after you and you die, when you "save your soul" the screen turns white and you get uplifting/heavenly music or whatever. You're rewarded with life (paradisus) as opposed to death (infernus) as seen on the cover of the book in the intro, detailing your own life.

Between these there's malum(evil) which we see a man holding a decapitated head, bonum(good) depicting a man praying, and between these vita(life) depicting both acts of evil and good.

It's really cool how thought out some of the lore/mechanics are in this so far.

Well it's hard to say. The content technically ends at the end of the Lord tourney, and we just get to keep fighting the baron over and over again after that. Until they add more content beyond the Lord rank I don't think we can really say for sure what happens. I assume the Baron will be dead, I don't think we will literally take over as Lord since we're really just an up-jumped beggar, I think the names of the ranks are more indicative of the tier of enemies we are fighting rather than our actual status as an individual, if that makes sense. So someone else could become Lord, maybe the Jester, hard to say. But we will probably continue on and I imagine the Jester will have a role to play still since he was seemingly close with the Baron.

I personally speculate that the next rank after Lord will be Duke, or at least Duke will be a future rank. Here's a write up I made explaining why I believe this could be the case - #halfsword-chat-⚔ message
