Solution: Clean reinstall
Delete all files relating to the half sword playtest existing in your local files. Be sure to back up your screenshots folder if you took any!
Navigate to and delete the Half Sword Playtest folder located in the following directory.
C:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common
Navigate to and delete the Saved folder located in the following directory.
C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Local\HalfSwordUE5
Navigate to and delete the folder VersionTest54 located in the following directory.
C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Local\VersionTest54
Finally, reinstall Half Sword Playtest.

The biggest problem with playing in first person is that you can't really tell the relative position of your arms which makes accurate cuts harder without sufficent muscle memory.

Depends how short the sword is but probably not. It reduces the bodies structure and reduces range. Its useful for knives because you are already close and you can grapple with it

create an engine.ini file.
you can do this by creating a txt file, and with notepad, save as all file types.
copy paste the above into it.
set the ini file as ready only.
copy and paste the file into the windows folder "C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\HalfSwordUE5\Saved\Config\Windows"
