Scream, yell and shout. What is the difference?
Screams don't have to be words, they can just be like a prolonged "AAAA" due to emotions like fear, excitement, anger and etc. While yelling and shouting is you speaking actual sentences, but loudly for different reasons like people being far away, emotions (again) or maybe you're deaf/wearing noise-cancelling headphones so you can't really determine how loud to speak.
For example, you can yell/shout: "HEY, YOU!" - to someone far away to grab their attention, but that's not very friendly.
🤔
They're also synonyms, so any of the three can be used to define the two examples I gave. But screaming is more often than not used for the "AAAA" type of sounds.
go use duolingo and if u dont do ur lesson well the bird will come after u. 👍🏻
😃
Don't Miss ur Spanish lesson!
They each have subtle differences in meaning and context.
A scream is usually used in moments of intense fear, pain, panic or distress. It conveys a heightened sense of emergency through its louder volume and higher pitch.
A yell is more forceful than a shout, often implying anger, impatience or authority. It has a louder, harsher tone quality than a shout.
A **shout **is generally the least intense of the three as a means of calling out to someone from a distance in a casual manner, without deep emotion. It works for getting attention politely.
Scream Example: "I screamed as loud as I could when the monster grabbed me, hoping someone would hear and come to help."
Yell Example: "The coach yelled at the players to hustle during their timeouts."
Shout Example: "I shouted greetings to my friend from across the courtyard and waved to get their attention."
thanks, i understand those examples.
guys what is la puta?
You better google that one on your own, can't bring it up due to the rules.
The/A bitch, iirc.
bro i thought its a pudding brand 😭
Now you know!
wow!
If you were to use "willingly" there, the sentence would have to be "I'll willingly give you what you want" - yambol
it’s something from the Philippines, not sure what it is exactly
I hope this helps someone, but this is so there isn't any confusion. Your and You're are totally different, stop using them incorrectly people.
Example: "Your" is something that you want to express as something you want. (ex; Gimme your money! or I need your money!)
While "You're" is an expression for "You are"
Example: You're in my way! or You're 14 years old!
Don't get them confused, use them correctly people.
now do there theyre their
That I will have to agree with. 💀
😭
THEY’RE, THEIR, THERE,
THEY’RE: used to refer to two or more people or things previously mentioned or easily identified. example: they are laughing
THEIR: belonging to or associated with the people or things previously mentioned or easily identified.
example: that is their portrait
THERE: in, at, or to that place or position.
example: woah! look over there
This makes me hate English (but Ty because I’ve been struggling with Their and There)
How about these and those, whose 😭
Confused to use that words
And whom
these : plural form of this (used to identify a specific person or thing close at hand or being indicated or experienced.)
exp: "these candies look delicious."
those : plural form of that (used to identify a specific person or thing observed by the speaker.)
exp: "those ducklings are crossing the road."
whose : belonging to or associated with which person.
exp: "whose candy is this?"
whom : used instead of “who” as the object of a verb or preposition.
exp: "whom did he marry?"
i sucked at teaching but have google definitions lol
Thanks buddy
How about see, watch, stare, look? 🥹 I'm confused
See - "I can see you from across the street" - You're saying that you can see someone from your position.
Watch - "I was watching you play basketball" - You're saying that you spectated/watched someone play basketball.
Stare - "That kid stared at me for no reason" - Staring is more like an intense watch, and it usually isn't nice to stare at people for any reason - especially if they're strangers.
Look - "Look, that guy has a (insert popular franchise) t-shirt!" or "I looked behind me, and I saw some guy running at me" - When you look, it's a little different from seeing, since most cases it's probably not something in your line of sight, so you'd have to turn your head to look at it.

Hello, I have a question about 'use to', it's not like I had it at school, but the teacher explained it so badly that I still don't know when to use 'use to' or 'used to' correctly. Could someone explain 'use to' and the forms for it?
"Use to" is used with "did/didn't" to form a question or negative statement about something that happened in the past, like "Did you use to have a pet rabbit?"
Some examples of "use to" in action:
"Did you use to live in Florida when you were a kid?"
"I didn't use to like spinach, but now I love it!"
"Used to" is used to describe something that was true in the past but isn't anymore, or to describe something that was routine or habitual in the past.
Examples of "used to":
"I used to wake up at 6 am every day to go for a run, but now I hit the snooze button."
"He used to eat fast food every day, but now he's all about salads and quinoa."
In short, "used to" describes something in the past that isn't true anymore, while "use to" describes something that happened in the past but doesn't specify if it still happens.
Thank you so much!
Note that "used to" can also be used to indicate the intended purpose or a function of something. An example being that prior sentence or "The wrench is used to fix the car." With "used to" describing how the wrench is employed or what it's meant for in the context of working in the car.
guys ong I suck at English I need tutoring how do I learn English…i did not write this in English
im struggling please help me 🥺
how do you spell ‘a’
Ciao ,Come lo imparo l'inglese ?
Friends I need to talk in English to practice
Hi there! How are you? 🙂
A is spelled a or if ur like "ay look over there it's my friend" then it's ay
“an apple” and “a pan”
If the word starts with a consonant, it’s “a”, and if it starts with a vowel, its “an”
There are exceptions like “an hour”, which is because the H is silent, and the word technically is pronounced with a vowel first
i literally could not explain that better
its so concerning seeing people try and help people understand english and not have a clue what they’re talking about themselves
Bulgarian has a similar rule, so it was easy for me to remember the English version of it

hey guys do you put "the" before names of instruments or not???
elab
hablas espanol dominicano
ohh alright thank you so much
Yes, you can add "the" before the instrument if you are referring to a specific instrument. For example, if you are playing the piano, you would say **"I am playing the piano." **However, if you are talking about instruments in general, you would not use "the." For example, you would say "I play the piano and the guitar."
Examples of how to use "the" with instruments:
I am playing the piano.
The violin is a beautiful instrument.
He is a talented guitarist.
She plays the drums in a band.
The orchestra is playing a Beethoven symphony.
je fais un p’tit coucou aussi pcq j’me sentais seule

Guys, what slangs are there in English? Besides the banal ones, with explanations PLEASE
there is “slay, rizz, Karen, queen” stuff like that- our language is stupid
i really only know some silly british ones like bog for toilet, bloke for guy, wrongen aka basically a bad person or quid for pound but i feel like those are both useless and basic😔
Thanks for your help, I've become smarter. I'm glad I didn't know these slangs.
Your language is not stupid. Even though I have a bad rating for it.
Hehe, I'm not a genius in English. I can barely translate most of the words using a translator.
I feel like there are way too many slangs that people often use. Words like "based", "yeet", "lol, "cap". etc. Just observe how the people talk in here, a lot of slangs used here and there on a daily basis. You can even take note of what you observe from how others interact and use the english language. 🙂
Thank you!
English is easy at first then you learn the slangs 😭
Hi
Привет люди
Oh whoops, wrong gears.

👋
Hey
Hola 👋
How do I English properly?
act like you know it. works for me 😛
Greetings, what does "rizz" mean?
u don’t know what rizz is..
it's a short way of saying "charisma", and is mostly used in sentences where someone is flirting with someone
it can be both a noun and a verb
damn they deleted it lol
google "merriam webster rizz"
wait..... actually?
yeah???
i thought rizz came out of. rizz. i didnt know it came from an actual word!!?
oh my god.
okay then lol
How to use "i" and "i am" in the sentence
"I" and "I am" is usually used in the start of the sentence
for example:
" I am wearing a blue jacket. "
" I like to read books "
More specfic mate
"I" is the subject pronoun used to refer to yourself when you are the subject of the sentence, meaning you are the one performing the action.
It is often used at the beginning of sentences or clauses.
Meanwhile
"I am" is the combination of the subject pronoun "I" and the verb "am" (a form of "to be" in the present tense).
"I am" is used to describe a state or condition. It is often followed by an adjective or noun to provide more information about yourself.
Basically, "I" is used to express yourself and then "I am" is used to describe a state or condition
Thanks for explaining, mate
your welcome.
Could someone explain me “were” and “where” difference if that makes sense
Why do homophones exist? They’re confusing as hell. Like read and reed or knew and new like why isn’t knew pronounced kuh-new instead of new
were is like,, a past tense of 'are' in most cases
if you were trying to say like, we are doing this, you would instead say we were doing this.
where is a place, like you'd say
where are my keys? where is my phone? home is where i live, etc etc
i could probably explain it better, apologies if this is confusing ,,
Oh so “were” when there’s action and where is location thingy
I’m not the best at explaining 😭
But also tysm
yes ! no problem <33
Just like the examples you gave, they sound the same but mean different things
Homophones are words that sound the same but have different meanings and often different spellings. They are a type of homonym, which refers to words that have the same pronunciation or spelling but different meanings.
Knew is used to indicate that you had knowledge of something in the past. In other words, it means you were aware of or had information about something at a previous point in time. Meanwhile, new is an adjective that describes something that has recently come into existence, is not old, or is the opposite of "old."
how do i capitalize a stuttering sentence?
is it
"H-hello"
or
"H-Hello"
"H-Hello"
I believe.
Since its the same word, you're not adding a second word just "extending" it.
Yep
Well when you stutter your still starting your sentence after your stutter because you made an error in speech so it would be capitalized
Also why does your profile say your a suspected terrorist😭🙏🏻
Ummm, uhh 😅
I don’t see it I wanna see cause I have it too 👩🏻🦯
It fixed itself no one knows
Do i capitalize the letter after "..." ?
Is it "or maybe not... Did i already say this?" or "or maybe not... did i already say this?"
I think it depends on the context?
How tf do you spell wednasdey?
Wednesday !!
My brain when spelling in english would be like :
Usually capitalize the letter after "..." But it also depends
Thank you!

A lot of people here really need to know how to speak English, because some bots are really good except that the descriptions inside the bots are so incredibly bad
That or it's a really good bot but a few grammatical errors in the greeting bring it down
I was thinking of ritz crackers for some reason💀
"There's never enough cooks in the kitchen"
You’re welcome!
Genuine question I always had is do we say “used” or “use” for a action 🪦
Uses 🥶😼
Uses?
The usage of "used" and "use" depends on the context of the sentence. Both can be used based on what the sentence/context says.
It exist in language due to a combination of historical linguistic evolution, sound changes, and the nature of how languages develop and change over time
Celeritous, irascible, petulant.
You leave it lowercase since its still in the same sentence
Here's an antediluvian words for you
Celeritous is probably the most uncommon word I put. Also, I'm giving you another one, supererogatory, dispensable, gratuitous, ennui, prosaic, lurid, precarious, fruition
Also petulant and rude are related but not they are not exactly the same
Frolicsome, vivacious, boorish, churlish, brusque, burlesque, pernicious. Here's another words for you @rough pelican
This is not enough, I'm adding more. Serendipitous, fatuous, inane, baloney, bosh, prattle, colloquy, lachrymose, woeful, inanity, dismal
what means flirty
HOW DO YOU NOT KNOW THE MEANING OF FLIRTY
i dont speak english okay? just a little bit
Make sense, basically flirt and flirty are related and
they are not the same thing. flirt is a verb and it means act of playfully showing romantic or sexual interest in someone
thanks

what does the word volatile mean? i'm probably thinking of a different word that is alike but could i possibly get an example in a sentence if that makes it easier for you
"Volatile" means things that are likely to change and unexpectedly.
Example
The volatile nature of the substance made it difficult to store.
The weather is very volatile today
The boy has a very volatile temper.
thank you!

What does "gyat" mean? And any explanation of "gyat" levels?
The term “GYAT” is a slang term, meaning “GOD DAMN!” But in short as to not say the lord’s name in vain directly, it is used to secretly show attention and attraction towards someone’s bodily features, mostly someone’s bottom.
Level 0 gyat; refers to someone having little to no rear definition.
Level 1 gyat; refers to one having a fairly sized or barely defined rear
Level 2 gyat; a rather noticeable and defined rear, but not huge.
Level 3+ gyat “rare gyat”; Very defined rear and very unrealistic most of the time, like Cardi B.
What if my friend’s mother has a level 10 gyat? What is the definition
BIG AHH DUMPY! 🤑🤑🤑🤪🤪
Lmao aight. Next time I see my friend’s mom imma just “You have a big ahh dumpy!”
You’ll either have a criminal charge for harassment, or an anime plot on your hands.
Oop..
I’m Batman
What is a death name
What do you mean by that? Do you mean a name that refers to death or has something to do with death?
Did bro really type that with a straight face
I could, mainly cause I find the term "gyat" dumb.
you mean dead name?
Yea oops
What an oddly specific channel
As a bilingual the best way of learning English is by communicating with it. If you're forced to speak it you'll adapt really quickly. The brain can learn very fast when it feels the need to do so
Ik...
But I think its because you only can use English in the server
So learn or no speaking...
Its sad
Ik i was born w it but i still dont know what desd name means
I no english bad besus me sis dus nas no inglish
from what i know its the name a trans person goes by before changing their gender. so like, for example, when they were a boy, their name was Jacob, then they transition MtF, and change their name to Alice. now Jacob is their dead name and they dont want people to use it anymore, they want to be called Alice
Ohh
And what about the error? Coz I sometimes still worry about it😖
english your is good very!
It is indeed good, but I must enlighten you that your grammar is more fantabulous!
Thank you my good man! I have been working on my grammar for basically all my life and I am still looking at ways to improve!
Okay bro make sure to avoid the ambiguity and jumbled sentences ig
Yeah I know. I was just joking lol.
What do you mean your joking?
I mean I wrote that on purpose. I was just having some fun lol
Bro your sarcasm sounds so serious
Wait really?
I thought my sarcasm was very bad
I can't grammar ;-;
It is bad
Dawg you need to learn a good banger
Ah my bad. I never actually use sarcasm, but I sometimes do as jokes
enlighten me
;-;
Jk jk but idk how to elucidate it
You just need to think something funny if you think the joke sounds a bit animosity then don't send it. Very easy to make one
Fair enough. My jokes are some of the biggest pieces of dog-crap (i would swear here but meh)
Yeah swearing is bad
I know. I didn't see anyone swearing in chat, so I just assumed lol
You can swear but don't excessively use it
makes sense. I don't often swear so that wont be a problem
I've never said any profane words so I'm clean ight
nice
I was at church, so yes.
One cuestion, "hello" and "Hi" is the same? I think Yes but i'm not sure
Yeah
Okey!
Thanks you!
Can I make a rectification?
Jango out here being an English teacher just because
Ye and I’d say that “hello” is juuust a bit more formal than “hi”
But it’s all about context with that differentiation tbh
Hii
guys can yall tell me what means “Whatchu been too?”
cause I’m bad at english as hell
Uhhhh so my interpretation would be one of these two:
- “What have you been up to?”
Or - “What have you been to?”
You have to consider the context, as in the subject of the conversation that came from, because 1 would mean that you’re being asked about what you’ve been doing, while 2 is asking about where you’ve been
“Whatchu been too?” Doesn’t really make sense since it’s a very improperly structured question, along with slang (being “whatchu”), and it’s supposed to be “to” and not “too” since “too” indicates an excessive amount of something
oh dang
you could write just one word from “school lessons” level but thanks anyways
so as I understand it’s like thing I did before? (example:I was listening to the artil#ery)?
Haha, sorry for the long explanation! Context is just very important with the English language.
And yes! That’s right, it’s the thing you did before :)
oh thanks dude, because I didn’t answer that question for three days🥲

It doesn't matter the most formal greetings are "Greetings interlocutor" or "Salutation, conversationist"
Or just not be a sociopath and say “Hello, how are you, sir/ma’am?” or “Good morning/afternoon/evening!”

Saying a formal greeting makes you a sociopath? That sounds coherent indeed
Them long greetings need to be concise + interlocutor/conversationist is better
So the test is about words and grammatik, ive learned the words yesterday 4+ hours and I don't remember but like the grammatica is about uuuhh Adjectives i think that's how u call it in English
Adjectives are called the same in french, except its adjectifs
Alright so it's like about the man words end with none, and the more of the men words with s?? Women words end with s and more of the woman words end with es??
Simon Simone Simons Simones
I think that's what we had to study in class not sure I don't pay attention in french class
Wait in #📱︱chat-feed I'll send whats In my book
When there is several things, lets take the exemple of several men, in france man is 'homme' and men is 'hommes', it wont be 'hemme' or something like that
For us, the 's' says that there are several of the same things, like english most of the time but as man and woman turn into men and women, not like a chair that would turn into chairs, then i understand why you dont really understand i guess
French is hard 😞
So, only one man would be written like "homme" but if there is two or more you just add a "s" at the end ---> "hommes"
The same for woman, only one woman ---> femme
Women ---> femmes
Aha smart
My teacher just sucks
Ty
Imma learn for words now then (I'm at school but I'm bit gonna enter class)
Yeah same, if one day you have another in french just ask me👍
indubitably
You want to learn a big words? Lemme give you some, quixotic, inane, inanity, bosh, prattle, colloquy, indubious, dubious, specious
I don't have moneys and I only got one phones
That hurts my eyes
Big words without their meanings is quite useless
I didn't ask if its redundant, thou shall be in a quiescent state due to thy boorish behaviour
Yawning
Literally as a native English speaker and published writer, I have never seen those greetings that they sent. 💀 Bro is sounding like a whole try-hard Wattpad novel
There’s a fine line between using fancy big words that truly make you sound eloquent and those that make you sound like you’re trying too hard. :3
Pretty sure they’re a troll anyways LOL
I have not heard anyone irl use those words. Even when I was in philosophy classes and all that. I think people glorify the English language too much sometimes
Yeah, me neither. I sometimes enjoy watching really old movies and I don't think I've heard any of the people in the movies use such words either. Big words are okay if used moderately, but overusing them and you could end up sounding like a walking dictionary lol
Biggest flex I have is that I didn't learn English from school but from Social medias

Yeahhh. Using big words in moderation is fine. But if someone walks up to me speaking like they inhaled a thesaurus I’m just gonna pick my nose and zone out
And to what HayZ said; Immersing yourself in places that speak the language — like social media — can be useful. Just make sure to double check some things because there’s a LOT of weird slang these days. Sometimes I don’t understand anything on certain posts because there’s new slang words and my old dusty brain cannot keep up
I need to do that with chinese
One of my French teachers told me the best way to learn another language is to listen to their music. Especially if you listen to a lot of music already
And it’s the same with what my mom told me. Listening to songs in Tagalog or Ilocanos (Filipino dialects) sticks better in my brain somehow
The Internet/social media is a nice place to consume English, or any other language for that matter. Movies, books, music etc. are also good sources. I also enjoy reading poetry and song lyrics from the music I listen. Song lyrics can be pretty creative. It's also how I learned to be more creative in writing through songs and poetry. I often have subtitles on even if I'm watching a movie or show in English, you can learn things that way too.
yes ı doesnt-
Yes!
Even while it’s my first language, I’ve usually studied for my writing exams and essays before through reading a lot of books, listening to music by musicians that carefully craft their lyrics (Passenger is a good example!), and then some movies. You just need to be wary of the media. Some media with more informal language or more slang can definitely make things more difficult for beginners.
And also, I have a bias towards poetry JUST because there’s more emphasis on using grammar, punctuation, and different literature devices (rhyming, alliteration, etc etc)
So poetry really makes those obvious and easier to spot
Guys we should really have Radal at this server

Does anybody know a channel for practicing English?
While it might sound cliché, but the best way to learn English and write well is...
1. Read more
Pay attention to the way other writers use language, structure their sentences, and develop their ideas etc.
2. Write more.
Write daily, this doesn't mean you have to write a novel or a blog post every day. Even just writing a few paragraphs in a journal or jotting down some ideas can help you improve your English and writing skills.
Good tips! Thank you

OH I remember why I popped in here
For the literature nerds here, has anyone read “Dracula” by Bram Stoker?
I just got it and I wanna start, but I do want to know if I should be aware of any weird diction and syntax, or overall structure? I know it’s like, written as separate entries?
I just wanna know what to expect
Should I use Duolingo? Like should I get the app?
Not that I can recall. It's pretty upper-class Victorian, but other than word choice being a little more eloquent than necessary, nothing too bad.
There is a Texan character, but I don't remember if I added the accent in my head or if it was part of the text.
It is very well written, I highly recommend it. If you want to hear it rather than read it, the audiobook narrated by Christopher Lee is excellent.
Aw YEAH Texan character
I might read along to the audiobook? Might help me actually because my attention span can dwindle real fast
I’ll let you know if the Texan character has the funky accent 😎
The last section has the most dialogue. The first two sections are framed as a series of diary entries and are a bit heavier on narration. Section 2 could be a good example of first-person writing, 1 is focused more on the mood of the text.
If you want, but be prepared to be threatened (and don't forget to do your lessons)

btw hi guys!
i feel like an old lady using internet😭 someone explain to me how to use discord
bonjour
hi
Does anyone have any good advice on how to remember to use grammar?
I tend to misuse comas and stuff or not use them at all
you can reread what you wrote to make sure it's readable and not messy, cause sentences without comas tend to be hard to read sometimes
My issue is I’m quite dyslexic so sentences that make sense in my head don’t always actually make sense
If that makes sense
ohh I see
How do you use a comma? Like how do I know when to put one or when to just continue the sentence
well I don't know then, I guess you can just put punctuation stuff whenever you feel like there should be some (I'm such a good advice giver) (jk)
sending you a pic with few "rules" about commas in the #🤣︱memes
I’m gonna be real I don’t understand half those words but thank you
me neither I'm not English 😭😭
Can someone explain what a clause is?
I’m really stupid when it comes to anything more than simple words
Commas can be used to separate items in a list.
Example: I need to go to the grocery and buy some milk, eggs, and bread.
Commas can also be used as a "direct address".
Example: Hello, y/n. How are you today?
Commas can also be used to indicate pauses between two independent clauses.
Example: I was invited to dinner tonight, but I didn't go.
In writing when you're quoting someone, put a comma inside the quotation marks before the spoken words. It's like letting the words breathe.
Example: "I'll get it done by Monday," he said. / Or you can also use the comma before a quote: And with that he said, "I'll get it done by Monday."
There are also conjunctions in compound sentences (and, or, nor, but, for, so, yet)
**Examples: **Do you want to watch a movie, or would you rather go for a walk?
He was very talented, yet he remained humble.
I wanted to go to the dinner party tonight, and she wanted to stay at home.
your welcome ^.^
Oh, and once you get acquainted with using commas, I recommend looking into semi colons! They’re these guys: ;
But get used to commas first. Semi colons are, well, funky to learn 😂
im fluent in english and i still dont get how to use semi colons 👽 its not my first language though
LOL yeah. I only started to confidently use semi colons when I was like...19 or 20. Even still, I feel unsure when I use them once in a while
Even with english as my first language, I despise it sm
Writing has a lot of layers, especially if one is not used to story writing format where semicolons are sometimes used. I also feel unsure sometimes when to use semicolons. Learning the basics like focusing on the commas first before diving into semicolons and stuff.
Yes! Even my writing teachers have said semicolons aren’t really necessary in most cases. Not a priority.
It’s also important to remember there’s no shame in looking things up if you feel unsure about your writing.
Yeah, I basically take inspiration from other writers. Especially established writers.
Same! Most of my inspo comes from writers like Rick Riordan (bro shaped my childhood fr) and Edgar Allen Poe 😅
There’s other modern poets I look up to as well. And as a published poet myself, I do hope those who have or will see my work take inspiration from it. Whether it be technical or based on the subject matter itself
Can someone tell me what's the difference between who and whom? And how to use it?
Real
I used to collect a lot of poetry growing up, especially during my active days on Tumblr. I grew up reading poetry from writers/poets like Maya Angelo and Sylvia Plath, and philosophers like Friedrich Nietzsche, Socrates and Alan Watts. I still collect poetry and small stories, even from small/modern writers.
Ohhhh I have a love/hate relationship with Socrates. He definitely helped the philosophy scene but was unhinged. Interesting guy.
That, and I spent a whole semester studying his trial and nothing else. Kinda ruined him a little for me 😂
Maya Angelo is awesome! I studied her stuff in hs a little, but I haven’t checked Sylvia Plath yet.
Have you heard of modern poets like Atticus or Amanda Lovelace? I’m wondering if they’re more popular or obscure to literature fans like us
I've heard of the names and I'm sure I've come across their stuff before, but I'm not too familiar with their work to confidently say that I do. But I'll probably check out their work. 🙂
Use "who" whenever it is the subject of the clause.
For example: "John, who is my friend, helped me with my homework."
Use "whom" whenever it is the object of the verb or preposition.
For example: "To whom did you give the book?"
"She is the person whom I trust."
As a basic rule of thumb, if you can replace the word with "he/she", use "who". If you can replace it with "him/her", use "whom".
**For example: **
"Who helped you?" (He helped you)
"Whom did you see?" (Did you see him?)
In casual speaking or informal writing, it's common to use "who" even when it's not strictly grammatically correct. But in formal writing, follow the subject/object rule above.
So you basically use "who" as the** subject,** and "whom" as the object. Or replace with he/she vs. him/her to choose.
A better way to understand when to use "who" and "whom" is if you also reverse the words a bit like "Did you see him?" to "Whom did you see?" and "He helped you?" to "Who helped you?". =3
ty
Haha, of course! If you do, lemme know your thoughts ^•^
I’ll check Sylvia Palth’s stuff tomorrow when my brain isn’t flubber 😎
We can do it, yea
hello welcome!!
Hi guys.
Can someone help me, I have a problem:
For the almightys sake I don't get the difference between save and safe.
Can someone PLEASE share their wisdom with me?
"Safe" = Feeling secure and protected.
Example: "I feel safe staying by the shoreline", "I don't feel safe swimming in deep waters"
Save = When you keep something, or when someone rescues you from a situation.
Example: "I'll save this meme", I'll save my snack for later", "I accidentally deleted my folder, but thank god I made a backup. That saved me.", "Thank you for saving my life."
And there’s also
“Safe” = A locked storage unit, similar to a vault.
Example: “She put the money in the safe.”
A
So Safe is basically like the adjective?
Basically, yes. ^.^
Ahhh thank youuu ^^
you guys are my cute patootie, i learn a lot from y'all

guys how tf do you use the semi colon
nah gays watafak osnachaet slovo gay?
A semicolon is used to join two related clauses (sentences) together- if replacing it with a period would make the sentence nonsensical then you have made an error. The clauses must be complete and independent thoughts in order to be separated by a semicolon; they should stand alone as individual sentences.
For example, "The sun was shining brightly" and "The birds were chirping cheerfully" - These two sentences are independent and can stand on their own, but can be connected with a semicolon. "The sun was shining brightly; the birds were chirping cheerfully."
Without the semicolon, the sentence would be slightly redundant with: "The sun was shining brightly and the birds were chirping cheerfully."
The semicolon just makes the sentence more concise without the extra "and" in that sentence. But it's not really mandatory to use the semicolon, a comma can be good as well.
So is it just a comma but more fancy?
Yes, but both have their purposes depending on the sentences used. Semicolons, from what I remember, can add more emphasis than a comma would. But even I struggle to know when to use it too, its okay not to use it.
you're welcome ^^
Hi
Hii
I think I approached it like a semicolon is stronger than a comma, but not as strong as a period.
Then I write the sentence, read it a few times and see if it feels right 😅
Essentially I just treat it like how I treat writing sheet music: If it works, it works
whats ; used for
there
heya
is mostly used to connect sentences together and typically indicates that the second sentence is closely related to the one before it.
And then there is me
Who only uses it for 😉
Btw
Can someone tell me how to address women?
Like
When do I use Miss, Misses, Lady, madam, ma'am and whatelse?
It's all the same for me -
Miss is when referring to younger women, specfically below 18.
Ms. Is to refer to older women over 18 and unmarried. You can use Ms. When you're unsure of their marital status, it's the safest option to use for older women if you don't want to assume their marital status.
Mrs. Is is used for married or divorced women, or widows.
All the other terms like lady, madam and m'am are all the same, just different ways to formally and politely refer women.
Though “good morning lady” sounds weird, you’d call them madam or ma’am directly. Lady’s the like general way to refer. It’s usually “hello ladies”.
It can also be used as "Good morning, my lady." or "Good afternoon, my lady." Which is just an old-fashion way to show courtesy in a formal or polite way. :3
halo me no know england me want spake
Hello
how to use "though" in a sentence, i really dont get it
I need help saying letter and ladder
Because when i go to say ladder i say letter and letter i say ladder
I need a serious help because is becoming a problem to me
it can be used as a substitute to "but" if you add it at the end or start of a sentence. for example, "we ate chicken. it was a little cold though." or "even though I told her she looked pretty, she was fugly af". "tho" is the slang version. "even though" is for the start.
what letters do you usually struggle with?
I just normally just simplify everything so maybe thats my problem but yeah so uh all?
oh damn ok
you could try to emphasize the "a" in ladder and the e in "letter". letter is a bit "stronger" ig too
Thank you youre a real life-saver its just cuz im brazilian and im trying to learn english because english ended up being more present im my life than portuguese itself

Maybe since a majority of the bots are written in english, it can help expand the userbase's accessibility to the website by having a easy space to ask/answer questions relating to the English language?
it is a very rare case scenario where someone who doesn't know English will see an English website and then browse on it until they find the discord server for some reason without already knowing that there's a channel in it about learning English
I dunno. But it's the only guess I can think of at 7 AM (EST) that makes sense to me
