Hi, so despite using vencord, my discord says that my platform is web, thus not allowing me to complete some missiosns and stuff, how can i fix that?

Vencord hooks into the official client, Vesktop does not
It simply wraps the web app in Electron

tbf that is what the official client is too basically but vesktop is an unofficial one so discord doesn't recognize it as a dekstop client

yeah, that's just how vesktop is, any other custom discord clients will do the same thing, only the official discord client will work for that

Yea because discord has an allowlist for what their servers recognize as official clients, anything else like the Electron wrapper for the web app that Vesktop is will get flagged as browser by the discord servers

Even if it works essentially the same way as the official desktop app that is also just an Electron wrapper around the web app

For whatever reason, in the gif picker in Vesktop, most of the gifs are glitched/green. They show up fine once they've been sent though. Works fine in the regular Discord client. I've tried enabling/disabling hardware accel, i've tried reinstalling Vesktop with a fresh config, I've tried disabling gif related plugins, nothing.

hey all is anyone working on the voice message plugin on vesktop?

its been months since i first reported it and the voice message plugin is still completely broken on vesktop. works fine on normal vencord but voice messages sent on vesktop either dont load or load audio from a previous voice message on other peoples clients. theres also like 1 + second delay after clicking the button before it actually starts recording, not present on normal vencord

idk if anyone else even uses the desktop voice message plugin but its like my favorite vencord plugin ever and this bug is the only reason i cant use vesktop, which sucks because its so much better on macos in every other way

What version are you using? For me and a few others on vesktop 1.6.4 trying to stream resulted in infinitly loading streams and sometimes a crash when closing streams.

Try falling back to vesktop 1.6.3 and see if that fixes the issue.

Hello there. I have a question about Vesktop on the new Linux Mint version (22.3/Cinnamon 6.6.6). The latest version of Mint Cinnamon added support for taskbar notification badges, but I can't seem to get Vesktop to display any. I've made sure that I've enabled the default Discord setting "Enable Unread Message Badge" as well as the Vesktop-specific setting for notification badges. I've restarted/repaired but still, no dice. Also, here's my client information:

hey, i'm on cachyos with vesktop, and i am having an issue where vesktop is running on my discrete (nvidia) gpu rather than my integrated (intel) gpu. i am on a laptop, and don't know if this was always the case or only started happening recently. it's the only app running on the nvidia gpu which prevents it from going into a lower power state.

i am using niri window manager and running on wayland, but this issue is present regardless of if vesktop uses the wayland flag or using the default x11 configuration. niri itself is configured to not touch the nvidia gpu

is there any way to make it use the intel igpu instead of the nvidia dgpu?

disabling hardware acceleration fixes it, so that there are no processes running on nvidia, but is there any better solution?

Client modifications are against Discord's Terms of Service.

However, Discord is pretty indifferent about them and there are no known cases of users getting banned for using client mods! So you should generally be fine as long as you don't use any plugins that implement abusive behaviour. But no worries, all inbuilt plugins are safe to use!

Regardless, if your account is very important to you and it getting disabled would be a disaster for you, you should probably not use any client mods (not exclusive to Vencord), just to be safe

Additionally, make sure not to post screenshots with Vencord in a server where you might get banned for it

following some update of vesktop i believe, its color space (or something of that nature) breaks completely when moving the window across monitors

i'm on fedora 43 using kde plasma 6.5.5, and this issue started happening within the past week

only solution seems to be making vesktop open in a specific monitor and under no circumstances moving it anywhere else

Hi hi, I was looking around in #1257025907625951423 and attempted to search around in here too but couldn't find anything surrounding troubleshooting streaming issues.

I run on linux, with vesktop installed via flatpak but cannot get the screenshare working in a good quality as others report low quality as if running at a lower bitrate. So far I have ruled out pipewire/xdg portals through testing with other apps. Within ://gpu it appears to have hardware acceleration enabled but could there be something I am missing?

I have an issue on Fedora. If I use the rpm or appimage version of vesktop screensharing will freeze for other people after 20~ seconds. Good afternoon, I just downloaded vdesktop on my Batocera machine and it will not let share/stream my screen. When I click "share my screen" it doesn't do anything (no pop up or loading symbol, just nothing). Has anyone seen this issue before? I saw we should disable hardware exceleration, but I can not find where that setting is.

This Batocera thing is kind of weird when it comes to support for apps, most of the time it requires a very specific old version of apps. I downloaded this a few days ago through the built in Batocera downloader, so I am wondering if there is some reason they gave me this version...but I have no idea, this whole thing is pretty new to me

but I may try updating it tomorrow, I think I can always uninstall it and reinstall the old version if needed. Do I just download the newest version from the Vencord website?

Hi all; I seem to be having an issue with updating Vesktop. Whenever trying to use the updater; I click "Install and Update" and when I do it goes through a couple processes and then gives me an exit code of 127. I don't get promoted to enter my password (with the dialog popup) either.

Hello All; I tried asking about this earlier but didnt get a response. I am having an issue with updating vesktop. Whenever I try to use the official updater; I get this popup a couple seconds after clicking "Install Update and Restart". Client modifications are against Discord's Terms of Service.

However, Discord is pretty indifferent about them and there are no known cases of users getting banned for using client mods! So you should generally be fine as long as you don't use any plugins that implement abusive behaviour. But no worries, all inbuilt plugins are safe to use!

And I was using ⁨⁨pnpm inject⁩⁩, which injected the stock Discord client with idk but it makes it point to my custom Vencord
But idk how to do this for Vesktop
In Vesktop's settings, I've set the custom vencord location to both my custom vencord's root, and the ⁨⁨dist⁩⁩ folder
But I'm not seeing my plugins lol, and I've restarted several times after setting each

after a few minutes of running an sdl application and vencord, the sound of either sdl application, vesktop or both disappears from the list of things that produce sound, fixed only by restarting both of them
