Hi, i have the issue of like every time i recive a message discord will just freeze like nothing will work not even the taskbar icon when i right click on it to restart or repair vesktop, when it does freeze it will like refresh whats supposed to be like changed but it doesnt have enough time to fully refresh so everything is like still loading. I think after like 2 minutes after it had freezed the first time it will go back to normal but it will work for about 5 to 10 minutes until it will freeze again when any messege is sent to me. hello!, I am trying to get vesktop to be transparent with a blur, transparent isn't the hard part, but blur doesn't work, even if I use kwin-forceblur and add dev.vencord.Vesktop to the list, I was wondering if anyone knows where I am going wrong or if the way Vesktop implements transparency won't work with blur ^~^(looking for an effect like I have achieved with Zen in the attached image)

Just to note after looking through the known issues I saw that the no HEVC playback solution posted there was to use:

vesktop --enable-features=VaapiIgnoreDriverChecks,Vulkan,DefaultANGLEVulkan,VulkanFromANGLE,VaapiOnNvidiaGPUs

This unfortunately didn't work for me, I have however managed to fix HEVC playback on my Arch based distro by only using the flags --enable-features=UseOzonePlatform --ozone-platform=wayland (whilst hardware + hardware video acceleration were on)

I figured I'd post about it here in case it can help someone else out! might also be nice to include this on the troubleshooting wiki :)

Hey guys. Today vesktop suddenly stopped opening on Arch. I've seen a blue screen after an initial load, then pressed "repair" and then restarted it, and it loads infinitely. Hello, I reset vesktop after enabling 2fa on my account, but after doing so arrpc stopped working

The console shows that it attempts to start on 6463, but is in use, so it goes to 6464

Nothing out of the ordinary,i dont know why arrpc doesn't work anymore, I attempted resetting again and clicking the repair button in the context menu for vesktop, but that didn't fix it

I think i broke vesktop because i enabled 2fa and reset it at the same time

vesktop was literally tweaking and i had to like reset it twice and repair it

the windows log shows that arrpc starts its websocket on port 6463 and listens at \?\pipe\discord-ipc-0 (the important bit is that it successfully does it first try)

But on my linux system it fails at both and creates a duplicate for both

I suspected it was a dead pid

But no, arrpc itself is broken on my system, as if theres a ghost arrpc, lingering even after a system reboot

my issue is that arRPC listens to the port 6463, but vesktop doesn't connect to it. I have tried to troubleshoot and testing, where I ran arRPC from terminal, and i got it to connect on 6464, which isn't the correct port :D Am i doing something wrong?

Sometimes Vencord might break or crash and make it impossible to update via normal means. Here's how to fix it!

Discord Desktop

Use the Repair button in the installer. You will not lose your Vencord or Plugin settings.

How to update if you can't update via normal means

Sometimes Vencord might break or crash and make it impossible to update via normal means. Here's how to fix it!

Discord Desktop

Use the Repair button in the installer. You will not lose your Vencord or Plugin settings.

Vesktop

Right click the vesktop tray icon > Update Vencord.
If you don't have a tray, you can run the following script in devtools (ctrl + shift + i, then click on the console tab and paste):

Userscript

Remove and reinstall the Userscript. You will not lose your Vencord settings.

Figured it out. It had to due with Vesktop trying to use my systems title bar instead of discords built-in one. For whatever reason that feature is bugged and causes the maximized window to not render correctly.

i think windows having padding on wayland is normal

it's just the task of the compositor to align it properly

it might also be an issue with your gpu driver btw, if you want the system decorations (titlebar) you could try disabling hardware acceleration in vesktop settings and see if that fixes the issue

1.6.1 had a change that makes vesktop run in wayland instead of x11 by default and chromium on wayland is a bit funny with some gpus (mainly nvidia)

(or just opt out of wayland and run in XWayland again, chromium is better in XWayland imo: vesktop --ozone-platform=x11)

it's a bug with the theme that anduin ships with by default, if you install gnome tweaks, go to appearance, and set legacy applications to any other theme that isnt a "fluent round" theme it works properly

for something that looks similar, set it to adwaita

i genuinely do not know why the theme does this and its a bit out of scope for this, but i imagine that would've broken other legacy apps too, id recommend reporting it to anduin/the theme devs if you can find them

Hello guys i tried to google the error but im not getting much results so here is the bug i have:

• i am running cachyOS with Hyprland
• when i drag a chromium browser (in my case brave or chrome) on top of vesktop (with the hopes of it automatically dividing the 2 screens, the browser stops working and the following error appears in the log in vesktop:

vesktop has recently started dimming itself when it is on my main monitor, when i move it to the side monitor it goes back to the correct brightness, this issue goes away when i turn off hardware acceleration or HDR. i dont experience this issue on the official discord client and i wasnt experiencing this issue until i updated to the newest version.

i'd really appreciate info on how to fix this issue or instructions on how to downgrade to the old version

downgrading back to 1.6.0 fixed the issue for now so i guess i'll just wait a while and see if its fixed in a few weeks

this is most likely because electron/chromium changed how they deal with color spaces, the latest v39 release mentions that they added new support for stuff so its most likely that its trying to remap it to the "correct" color space

you shouldnt have hdr on all the time anyway, most applications dont support it properly

Ive been having an issue for AGES when running vesktop on cachyos. whenever i stream i seem to be getting some audio loopback and sometimes that loopback even occurs in my mic making others hear a "weird noise" which sounds like the last half second or so has been played again or had a hiccup. updating the client didnt help, changing the system didnt help, changing any of the audio settings didnt help from what ive noticed. the only thing that would come to mind is that its the distro or just a weird vesktop bug. ive also checked if its coming from the sources itself via qpwgraph and its not. i havent checked any logs due to me not knowing how logging works with vesktop.

any help is appreciated.

Why is my Discord laggy?

The most common cause of lag is poorly written CSS.

To see if this is the case for you, try temporarily disabling all themes and your QuickCSS.

If that indeed fixes the lagging, you'll have to figure out which theme / part of your QuickCSS is causing the lag.Just slowly remove parts of it until it doesn't lag anymore.

Discord Desktop

Hi there, I'm having an issue with the Flatpak Vesktop client where some fonts seem to be missing. such as when using the /shrug command and in some channel names that use special characters ( ・)

they appear as empty boxes instead. I don't use any themes (just some quickcss for sans-serif fonts and removing annoyances, but I tried removing those and no change), I tried a flatpak update and a reinstall of Vesktop including purging its files, and giving permission to all folders via Flatseal with no change. The regular discord client(also a flatpak) works fine however, so I'm not sure why it's not working

On my Desktop I can't properly stream my Desktop (cleanly).

When streaming, the captured footage will have random flashes where parts of the captured frame will be black.

It does this regardless of system load or what is being captured. This isn't a new issue; it has been ongoing for probably upwards of a Year, I'm just getting around to reporting it.

I just noticed that the fixed vesktop startup entry from the latest update (on fedora 43) includes these flags that I had previously manually added to the desktop entry; i wanted to verify that they are intended to be there. the variables I added to vesktop.desktop before updating to 1.6.1 from 1.6.0 were "--enable-features=UseOzonePlatform --ozone-platform=wayland --no-sandbox" and those scripts are currently present in the vesktop autostart script but not the desktop entry where i put them for 1.6.0. I started having unexplained lag at system login the last few days so I looked in Ignition, and what caught my eye was the number of variables attached to the launch command. specifically the number of times the same variable was repeated 4 times. Currently the startup entry reads "/opt/Vesktop/vesktop --enable-features=UseOzonePlatform --ozone-platform=wayland --no-sandbox --start-minimized --relaunch --start-minimized" but this is after I already removed 3 instances of --relaunch, and am now noting theres actually another duplicate --start-minimized to remove too. Are these variables supposed to be here as part of the 1.6.1 wayland fix and why are there all these duplicates in there?

Having an issue with vesktop. Tried to do an update and couldn't open after that. Error being some incompatibility. Since then, I tried everything from rebuilding, deleting cache from both paru and yay (using Arch Linux), restarting, making sure there were no errors, trying to delete everything related with vesktop but still gives me an error of /usr/share/licenses/vesktop/LICENSE exists in filesystem

Any idea what might work? Is this any known conflict?

also, no package owns /usr/share/licenses/vesktop/LICENSE so there seems to be some lingering conflict there. Should I just delete /usr/lib/vesktop and everything remaining and reinstall?

so vesktop nowadays always "RTC blabla" whenever on voice chat, i tested on normal discord + vencord and it is normal no RTC.

may have run into some sort of memory leak that I have no clue how to reproduce on windows vesktop. My PC started really ramping fans for a sustained amount of time with nothing heavy going on, and when I checked task manager vesktop was using up 2.5GB of memory. On killing the process the fans immediately spun down and on restarting the application is now using the standard 700~MB. This has not happened before the major UI revamp.

Actually scratch that "cant reproduce", just clicking between servers and channels quickly seems to really eat up massive amounts of resources that just partially stay used up. I imagine that snowballed on my end over time.

I'm mostly sure there's some kind of issue with resource usage in the new versions of vesktop. I switched back to just using vencord and have had no resource hogging issues after.

Its hovering around 1.2 GB but not ramping up the fans or reaching anywhere near 2gb

Vesktop was more efficient than base discord before the recent updates so I suspect somethings gone wrong

I have 0 idea whats causing it. It could just be open and freeze (when Im not doing anything else)
