The "Export Settings" tool gives you a file that contains BOTH your settings and your quickcss. The file it gives you is NOT A VALID SETTINGS FILE

you can ONLY USE THIS FILE WITH the "Import Settings" button. Trying to copy it manually as settings.json is like completely emptying your settings because once again it is not a valid settings file. Vencord will initialise it with default settings. This is what you're wrongly referring to as "duplicating"

If you want a copy of your settings.json file, just copy the file manually with your file explorer

Trying to use the Export Settings button for this does not work, has never worked and will never work

I've been having an issue recently with cpu/gpu usage of the renderer. Initially, the vesktop renderer would gradually go up to 100% cpu usage (when on integrated gpu, and similar issues on discrete but gpu usage). I also had similar issues with the compositor when modals popped up. I think this was related to #1372755353808277636, so I updated and repaired, and it no longer climbs so high, but still spikes to about 60% fairly consistently. I think this is due to not enabling v-sync? Is this something that is controllable on vesktop's end? Is there something I can do to enable it?

edit: I did a fairly nuclear option and limited vesktop to 3% cpu usage (per process and subprocess) and it's working just fine, so I really think it is just that it was re-rendering hundreds of times per second for no good reason.

hi guys i just got vesktop recently (on my mac) and it was working great, i added css themes, migrated plugins etc. but after rebooting my computer it's completely broken. does nothing, just an empty window. did it do something wrong when i copied the quickcss from my pc? other than that i didnt do anything manually. i might be doing something obviously wrong lmaop console log is in message.txt. thanks

i managed to get vesktop working! maybe it was a coincidence but deleting my session data (at ~/.config/vesktop/sessionData/) fixed my gray screen of death issue!

It seems that certain resolutions while screen sharing for me have a green line on either the right or bottom of the discord stream. This only occurs on vesktop and also only if you set the stream resolution to 720p or 480p for me(potentially it could happen on others for other display resolutions, but i only have 1080p). So it seems that a potential mismatch in resolutions of window/screen and one chosen for screen share causes is. Not sure how much of an issue this really is considering you can increase the screen share resolution, but might be annoying if bandwidth is an issue for someone... Unsure if this is a vesktop or vencord issue, so apologies if this is wrong channel

There might be a delay in registering display ID's at startup. Which is rather strange, given that this is the fist time I have seen such issue at all, let alone in an Electron app. This is Windows BTW.

Stock Discord could figure out which display is which and what to start up in, as could Edge, Firefox, and Prism (QT framework in the latter)

Disabling GitHub issues, antagonizing people who are reporting active issues and having the only means of actual support or news being this discord channel is frankly idiotic and will only push away people from this application. webcord claims to make great improvements to your privacy but in reality none of the things it does matter

there's no difference between Vesktop and Webcord in terms of privacy

but both of them keep discord's proprietary code out of your system so they're better than the official discord app (thus also BD and pure Vencord) in that regard

I have a weird issue when streaming and selecting an audio source for the application itself. This Vesktop device is showing the stream capture.

However every few minutes it will echo and play that stream out of this output

only for half a second

this probably isn't noticable to most people but I actually have those outputs going to a mixer with different volumes, the top output is much louder, thus this ends up playing as a short audio volume spike to me

oh it's worth mentioning that there's 4 because I was testing both the flatpak and aur version, the same issue happens on both

So I've installed vesktop in my linux machine via flatpak and I was trying to open the themes folder to copy some themes I downloaded. After an attempt to troubleshoot; there appears to be an issue where playing a video on a portrait display will cause the likes of stuttering. This has not happened with stock DIscord, and I am not certain about vencord.

Which leads me to wonder; when video is set to fullscreen, is it the video frame being rendered, or the entire screen of focus?

Hello, I am having blackscreen issue upon launch, and I have narrowed it down to one of the themes; However I am unable to find the directory for my theme's folder on Linux (PopOS!)

I checked out the FAQ on the page, and followed the instructions regarding pressing CTRL+SHIFT+I to open console and put the following code in:

There are two ways to start it in the terminal and they should work the same way.

Second is flatpak run dev.vencord.Vesktop
At least I think so. Search it up if they didn't work. Once you get the logs, you can think about the solution

when i'm using vesktop sometimes it just fails to load media (videos, gifs, images etc). it's not an internet issue as far as i'm aware cause when i go to open the media link in a browser it instantly loads without issue

If I use Vesktop without the Fake Nitro plugin, am I actually able to stream at a higher quality than Discord normally allows for non-Nitro users? I’m asking because, even though I don’t have the plugin and everyone says you need it to unlock higher streaming quality, Vesktop still gives me the option to select higher streaming qualities when I try to screenshare. on bazzite, using the flatpak, screen sharing doesn't work anymore.

before, when I started the screen sharing functionality, wayland would ask me which screen/application I want to share. After selection, vesktop would bring up the options in the "standard screen selector" and I would click on the screen I just selected via wayland. All would go well.

Now, when I open vesktop, the wayland screen selector and the "standard screen selector" appear at the same time, and there's like a 50/50 chance it will just select vesktop as an application share, and even if I select my desktop with the wayland screen selector, it will not appear in the "standard screen selector" options after. If I do not select a screen in time, the wayland selector will go away on it's own.

I am on Debian 12. I wanted to screenshare with audio, but I quickly learned that venmic does not work.
I didn't really want to go through the hassle of the alternate solutions listed at https://gist.github.com/Vendicated/b655044ffbb16b2716095a448c6d827a so I simply installed the Flatpak version, however I ran into another issue:

Audio source list appears, but when I click on it- the dropdown menu just makes a strange line appear underneath the title, no options for actual audio sources appear. Not so sure if this is an issue on my end or if this some sort of bug. Could it be a Flatpak permissions issue or something in the audio settings?

I tried to look for anyone who has the same issue as me, but I haven't found anything. Thank you for reading!

I am running the flatpak, haven't tested the .deb
I also just got an update notification for vesktop inside the app, and installing it seems to have fixed the issue.
When I restarted lightdm it used to log me out, I just did it and it didn't log me out this time.
It's quite late for me, so I won't do any more testing today, I'll report back tomorrow if everything still works.
Might've been some version mismatch weirdness or something like that I guess?

Vesktop is stuck loading forever with no explanation. Closing the loading window and reopening it causes it to be all white with nothing in it. I'm running Arch Linux with Hyprland as my WM. I installed (and reinstalled) vesktop from the AUR, and I've tried both vesktop and vesktop-bin, neither of which work. I've also tried resetting vesktop via the tray, which also didn't fix the issue. I can't find any documentation of a similar issue anywhere, so I'm really out of ideas now.

hi all, I'm running Vesktop on Gentoo Linux, and I'm getting the same 'blank' behavior I see a few people were discussing here the last few days.
My Vesktop is installed using the net-im/vesktop-bin package available on the Guru repo.
When I open with either command line or .desktop file, I am met with a window titled "Discord" and a purple background matching the theme I had set, but no interface loads in.
I've tried uninstalling and re-installing, to no avail. I don't have a tray icon, so I'm not sure how to reset Vesktop. I am not prompted to update Vesktop when it opens either - am I just out of luck?

Vesktop was working fine for months, but I think some update in the last week or so caused this breakage.

Hey guys, how can I get rich presence working on flatpak vesktop for non-flatpak apps?
nvm, had to run the following commands and reboot. Works like a charm now:

From one day to the other, Vesktop just doesn't want to open at all. First loads the loading animation, then the Vesktop window and nothing else, stuck in gray screen.

I am using Vesktop built from source in Fedora 42 (I am not using vesktop from Flathub since arRPC doesn't work there, but built from source does). Happens the same with the appimage one.

Discord tries to protect you from getting scammed by “hiding” your token when you open DevTools, which means it deletes it from storage and only keeps it in memory in order to make it harder to obtain.

If you now close discord before closing DevTools again, your token will not be saved anywhere anymore and as a consequence you will be logged out

Solution: Close DevTools before closing discord or better yet enable the NoDevtoolsWarning plugin which removes this “feature”

Hey, having an issue with vesktop where it just doesnt want to load channels, send messages, or load ui elements - along with an extremely long restart time. I've disabled all themes and CSS (those have caused issues 2 years prior) and experienced no changes.

Ive attempted updating vesktop, which hasnt done anything (and afaik I'm on the latest stable update anyway) and to be safe have attempted running the console command as instructed by the two most recent fixed things in #1257025907625951423 if i dont have the option to update from tray.

I tested and voice calls work fine (barring the aforementioned ui issues) but the initial join/leave sounds are delayed by up to 1 minute realtime in addition to any mute/unmute sounds.

Is there anything else I should try to get normal functionality back, and anything I can provide to help with troubleshooting?
OS: Mint 22.1 Cinnamon, was working prior without issues as of around 6h ago with no updates to vencord until problems began, or system (at all in the last 2 weeks)

Correction on the channel front, it does load them after around 10-15m of initially attempting to open the channel. Timing the attempt to access this channel on pc to get a better estimate

This is due to Discord server failing to process hardware encoded streams for unknown reasons which results in timeout (error 2012). You will have to insert --disable-features=AcceleratedVideoEncoder parameter to disable hardware encoding in order to make it work.

thank you this may at least be a sort of solution, the bizarre thing for me is that if they join the stream as soon as i start it it'll work, but if they take longer than 10 seconds it will suddenly just buffer eternally.

if anyone is getting issues with h265 encoding not playing on Vesktop I'm bumping the solution that worked for me that was priorly mentioned in #🖥-vesktop-development in case you can't find it for some reason.

Just pass:
--enable-features=CanvasOopRasterization,VaapiVideoDecoder,UseChromeOSDirectVideoDecoder,VaapiIgnoreDriverChecks,PlatformHEVCDecoderSupport,Vulkan,DefaultANGLEVulkan,VulkanFromANGLE
to Vesktop when launching it. In my case in KDE, you can right click it in the Lauch Menu and "Edit Application" and add it to the "Command Line Arguments" field.

It doesn't work for some people, but it did for me. I'm running an AMD 6800XT with the Mesa drivers.

I have an additional bug report; asides from the app refusing to properly remember the correct display (let me repeat: the current display ID method is flawed; it simply does not work here versus any other app that I have)

When Vesktop starts up in Display #1, it flickers madly until I move it to another display. The bug does not repeat itself when I move it back to Display #1. It is always at system startup.

I wanted to investigate hardware encoding issue on my own, so I decided to write a simple screen sharing app in Electron with hardware encoding enabled and also I set up a media server in order to receive WebRTC media stream and then play it through VLC. It works without any issues, which made me conclude that there's no issue with neither Mesa drivers nor Electron. It's just Discord server failing to process the stream (or maybe doing it on purpose).

discord uses a heavily modified webrtc instance so it might be a side effect of that

you can try reporting it but they'll likely just ignore it

they never listen to issue reports about their web client

How do I prevent notifications of an update being available for vesktop? I only want to update it through my package manger using tag releases. I disable the auto update, and the notification saying it's auto updated. But I still get notifications saying an update is available when the current tag release isn't more updated than what I've got installed.

Debian wayland(trixie). Stream quality is low and very laggy. I've tried flatpak and .deb. I've tried turning hardware acceleration on and off. it doesn't change anything. Is there something I'm missing?

strace never fails.
the individual mimeo commands are working as they should...it's just that those commands should never have been run in the first place...they're the wrong commands. the xdg-settings utility provided by xdg-utils-mimeo is broken.

i.e. mimeo is fine, it's xdg-utils-mimeo's version of xdg-settings making those erroneous calls to mimeo that causes this issue.

sudo pacman -R xdg-utils-mimeo will fix this until that package is patched
