It says not to make issues if you're not a developer and to join the server if you need support. So where do new contributors fall? Like I can think of three different interpretations off the top of my head:
-"Vesktop Developer" is a specific level of authority and just contributing code isn't enough for issue permission.
-Anyone who has contributed code to Vesktop can make issues.
-It's an attempt to avoid a million copies of "how do I do [x obvious thing]" "here's the tenth duplicate of [rejected suggestion] or today's bug report because I can't do a basic search" "actual new bug report written in the least informative way possible", not aimed at people with basic developer etiquette, and competently reporting issues is enough to count as a developer.

Point being I did look around the github before opening an issue. No other detail on when to make an issue, no mention of a known issues list on the discord, form issues from the last couple weeks with no mention of a policy change. If you want newcomers to only use this server, the github could be a lot clearer that "join for support" covers everything.

Hello, today I built Vesktop from source, it worked good, but now, whenever I try to build it again to apply my changes, I get this error:

Hello everyone, I cannot install the latest version of Vesktop from the AUR on arch linux. I tried updating it with yay:

Turns out I didn't actually need to do that. The vesktop-bin package worked fine.
My system isn't configured weirdly, the issue was that Vesktop looks only for a specific version when building, so not having that specific version breaks the build. I could've installed the needed version of pnpm, but I couldn't be bothered.

The one's that are not are flatpaks completely unrelated to npm and pnpm. How could I check for a weird setup anyway, other that running into weird behaviour? • so i'm still getting the vesktop logged out bug.
• even with no devtools warning enabled.
• i observed that i'm not logged out in discord's list of sessions, but i am from the client.
• so i backed up my tokens and token, waited to get kicked to the blue spinner on a gray dialog, then restored both.
  • reloading the window took me back to the gray spinner. (i didn't record document.location.)
  • restarting vesktop logged me back into the existing session.

Vesktop specific issue that I am observing. I tried to poke around and see if others have this problem. Not exactly the same issue that Kitty above is having.
Info first:

• Vesktop Flatpak version 1.5.5 & same in 1.5.6 (maybe earlier than 1.5.5...)
• KDE Plasma 6.3.4 (wayland) if that matters
• Video Hardware Accel is disabled

Issue:

• First launch post splash window the main application is hidden and not able to made visible with alt-tab or clicking on activity bar entry.
• Enabling setting to show/hide Vesktop through toolbar icon allows for hiding the invisible window (removed from activities bar) and brought back with full visibility.

I have a flatpak launch log with some info, in it is some Ozone / GPU / Skia related errors. This occurs on every fresh launch or restart of Vesktop.

I do not think this is related to previous issues with white screens, failures to launch, or failure to log in, as I was able to confirm I get notifications on the desktop despite not being able to access until I manually hide / show vesktop off the activities bar either through the toolbar icon method or by closing the window (not closing vesktop)

Not a show stopper as I am able to still use Vesktop and develop on top of it.

Client modifications are against Discord's Terms of Service.

However, Discord is pretty indifferent about them and there are no known cases of users getting banned for using client mods! So you should generally be fine as long as you don't use any plugins that implement abusive behaviour. But no worries, all inbuilt plugins are safe to use!

Regardless, if your account is very important to you and it getting disabled would be a disaster for you, you should probably not use any client mods (not exclusive to Vencord), just to be safe

Additionally, make sure not to post screenshots with Vencord in a server where you might get banned for it

There's this issue about the window of Vesktop on Linux. While I haven't tried this on Arch yet, Elementary OS 8 (based on Ubuntu), and Fedora 42 (shown on the picture) has the same issue. Both were installed using Flathub.

I use Flatpak Vesktop + KDE Plasma and cannot replicate the issue, whether on X11, Wayland native, or XWayland. In any case, try WAYLAND_DISPLAY="" flatpak run dev.vencord.Vesktop to use XWayland.

Tested on GNOME, Ubuntu's default.

• X11: no issues on GNOME or Plasma
• XWayland: no issues on GNOME or Plasma
• Wayland native: crashed GNOME, caused issues on Plasma

So it seems Vesktop's Wayland code is ... VERY unstable sometimes. I'd recommend using XWayland even if you aren't experiencing issues

I'm on EndeavourOS w/ Wayland, running the AUR version of Vesktop. Everything works perfectly with one exception; screensharing has some finicky behaviours.

When I begin the stream, it works perfectly fine if you join immediatelly. Though after a certain amount of time after you try to join into the stream, it infinitely buffers but still gives audio to the listener. There's also the random full green screen but that's unique to like one person viewing the stream and its inconsistent. I'd just like to fix this because having to restart the stream every time someone wants to join is a bit tedious, and I'm unsure how to diagnose the issue. If I could get any help it'd be great.

I have an issue with vesktop when I stream a game or just a window, the audio suddenly cuts off and gets disabled for windows 11 and i have to enable it back to fix the issue. another issue i have is when you have the normal vencord client with discord when moving a window to the second monitor, it fixates on the secondary one when you minimize the window and restart vencord, then it stays there on the second monitor. but when i do it in vesktop, it doesn't save the location and i have to move it each time to the second monitor. are there any solutions for the both? and thanks for helping anyways :) ! ! !

Why is my Discord laggy?

The most common cause of lag is poorly written CSS.

To see if this is the case for you, try temporarily disabling all themes and your QuickCSS.

If that indeed fixes the lagging, you'll have to figure out which theme / part of your QuickCSS is causing the lag.Just slowly remove parts of it until it doesn't lag anymore.

while i do not personally agree with them downright disabled, i can see why they are disabled because 95% of them do not need to exist and the devs are in an infinite loop closing issues that should not be made in the first place

github does not provide a solution other than having a workflow that will automatically delete issues other than disabling issues

so I have a recurring issue where if I can only scroll up so far in a chat before it just instantly kicks me back down to the bottom of the chat, and then unloads all the progress I made so I can effectively only scroll up X amount before I just can't go further without using some method of jumping to an older message

hello, vesktop streaming does not work properly for me, if i turn on audio it goes to what looks to be about 144p and 1 fps for the people watching it and it becomes like 5 seconds delayed if it even loads, and even if i keep audio off it looks like 360p compared to browser discord that looks very good but doesnt have audio

Why is my Discord laggy?

The most common cause of lag is poorly written CSS.

To see if this is the case for you, try temporarily disabling all themes and your QuickCSS.

If that indeed fixes the lagging, you'll have to figure out which theme / part of your QuickCSS is causing the lag.Just slowly remove parts of it until it doesn't lag anymore.

I looked at the error and it seems to not like the binary for Ruby.... I go to install the arm64 Ruby from the Fedora repos and it still fails....

The Icon name for the Vesktop app is the default Electron chrome_status_icon_1, which makes it difficult to theme with applications like hyprpanel.

Could it be renamed? Considering clients like the spotify-client do so even though they run electron.

vesktop likes to set my status as idle even if i'm not afk. i first noticed that i was going idle while i was playing a game, but upon further testing i discovered that it will mark me as idle after a certain amount of time of not interacting with vesktop, regardless of what other programs i am using. i am using arch linux with hyprland. is there a fix for this?

Had this same issue, found something related on google in Vesktop Github issues but it seems issues were now disabled. Thankfully this is still here. Not sure if it means anything, but I've had this issue with the non-flatpak version as well.
Edit: Turns out running with vesktop --ozone-platform=x11 on wayland fixes the issue

maybe functionality could be added to customize what the indicator shows, because changing those functionalities outside of literally changing the code (or images) breaks other apps with the chrome_status indicator id

Hi, I'm having an issue with streaming the Oblivion remake:
I have the DLSS FG -> FSR3 frame gen mod installed, and frame gen works, but whenever I stream, I can see noticeable lag spikes in the fps graph I have, which more or less match up with the streaming framerate (15fps = less spiky fps graph, 60fp = more spiky)
I'm assuming the way Vesktop is capturing the screen is interfering with the frame gen in some way. Is this a known issue, and is there a workaround?
I'm currently running Linux Mint 22, and the flatpak version of Vesktop

OK so apparently I have a weird quesion. Sometimes I'll have Vesktop closed and it'll have a notification badge, but it'll vanish when I open Vesktop. How can I make it so Vesktop will NEVER have a notification badge for any reason whatsoever (on KDE desktop Fedora)? I can find a million posts online about enabling the badge but next to nothing on blocking it (I hate having notifications on my PC and always turn them off)
