Client modifications are against Discord's Terms of Service.

However, Discord is pretty indifferent about them and there are no known cases of users getting banned for using client mods! So you should generally be fine as long as you don't use any plugins that implement abusive behaviour. But no worries, all inbuilt plugins are safe to use!

Regardless, if your account is very important to you and it getting disabled would be a disaster for you, you should probably not use any client mods (not exclusive to Vencord), just to be safe

Additionally, make sure not to post screenshots with Vencord in a server where you might get banned for it

hello ive been running into some problems with an intellij plugin and arrpc with vesktop, im on awm arch 6.13, vesktop 1.5.5.5, arrpc 3.5, and intellij community 2024.3.2, the plugin im using is github.com/Azn9/JetBrains-Discord-Integration.

i did post an issue on the plugin repo and after checking logs we did figure out that arrpc and the plugin are working properly, but its either not recognizing vesktop or something else. i tried using the base discord package and instead of showing that it doesnt detect a running client, it does connect to arrpc but doesnt display anything anyway.

hi. having an issue, hopefully someone can help.
void linux, xfce, 9950x, 7900xtx, both flatpak and source versions.
streaming games has minimal performance decrease, hardware acceleration is functional, the issue is that moving my mouse in games causes game stuttering.
performance is flawless, fps is normal, no stutters, except when moving mouse/camera.
oddly, exact same issue exists in obs screen capture, but window capture does not have this issue at all.
have tried both screen and window options in vesktop, stutter still there.

The plugin uses the user profile pic and username from the RPC, so the placeholder information from arrpc are enough.

I have users that uses arrpc without issues, it doesn't require custom things

The plugin uses a slightly custom version of KDiscordIPC, that you can find at https://github.com/Azn9/KDiscordIPC but it just uses the basic RPC protocol, nothing custom or related to arrpc

Yep I was asleep at 2am πŸ˜…

The diagnose service is just used to try to find common issues that would prevent the plugin from working, it doesn't depend on it to enable or not. Unfortunately this also causes sometimes false positive and/or false negatives. It just displays the red error and a warning notification if it finds something.

Well if it works now then nice but it would have been great to find the root cause of this issue πŸ˜… As always, reboot everything and it works PikaShrug

Having a crazy issue with Vencord on Arch where I can paste any text, pictures that came from within Discord servers I'm in, I can also upload images directly from my computer, but images pasted from my browser will crash Vencord. Other applications doesn't does behave like this when doing the same.

after setting up a wireshark on localhost i got to read how vesktop and the plugin were communicating, and i think i kinda got it figured out

the reason why it was working yesterday magically was after manually launching the arrpc, and vesktop at the same time, then closing the arrpc session and reconnecting the plugin was because vesktops initial launch didnt actually properly start listening to the port, now again i tested and before launching vesktop i just killed any process running on the port and it works again.

Hello, I'm currently using Vesktop (recently switched from using Vencord) and when I stream my game in a voice channel or call, other people can hear themselves speaking through the audio share, Previously when I used Vencord sharing audio only shared the game audio and people were unable to hear themselves speak. I upgraded to Nobara 41 yesterday, and now Vesktop opens in a smaller and smaller window every time I open it.
Setting Window Rules for the size does not work even if I also set it to ignore requested geometry (which was not needed before the upgrade).
I thought it might have something to do with desktop scaling, but setting it to 100% results in the window not getting drawn at all. I also tried uninstalling the Flatpack(user) version, deleting the cache and settings, and installing the other version, but the issue persists.
I haven't been able to find any mention of this bug and am out of ideas. Can anyone see if this is reproduce-able on the latest KDE Plasma? I'm not sure if this is a bug that's related to my system or Vesktop itself

if i have any video loaded (youtube, embed, direct content) by playing it (persists after switching away until i fully close and restart vesktop), my entire desktop will freeze for 20-40 seconds. audio continues to play. checking the journald logs reveals this every time it happens:

Sup! I have a fun issue that I'm not sure if it's an issue with Vencord or something else, buuuut... it only happens in Vencord, nowhere else, so it's worth asking about I guess.
See, when I open Vencord or switch to the window, it will start repeatedly putting one letter or other into the message box as if I was holding down the key. At first I thought it has to be an issue with my keyboard since it's home made and hand wired.
However when I used showkeyto check what the hell kind of keyboard input witchcraft was happening when I open Vencord, and it just does not show any key press happening when the letters start being printed. So, my system is not reading any keypresses but Vencord is, somehow. Ideas?

Couldn't find anything when I searched. Also let me know how to get logs for this if there is anything else.
Whenever I stream anything it usually takes a long time for people to get my stream's video to load - sometimes it is very fast but very rare. They all can hear the audio though and it doesn't matter what game or type of stream it is

  • Changing quality doesn't seem to make a noticeable change
  • Didn't notice anything specific with
  • Seems like people who join on Discord through Firefox can load instantly (one person tested)
  • Running on Linux Gnome with Vesktop flatpak. Tried both default 24.08 freedesktop platform and also the latest freedesktop platform mesa-git without change
  • Tried with two different GPUs too, one older AMD RX 5700 and now my new one AMD RX 9070 XT but neither changes the behaviour

Another thing: on my system, Vesktop performs exceptionally bad on my Linux desktop running an NVIDIA GPU. Everything is extremely laggy; almost as if it's rendering on the CPU. I can't reproduce the slowness when going on Discord using Chromium (both upstream and Ungoogled). I'm not sure how to troubleshoot because I can't access chrome://gpu on the Vesktop client. Happens with all plugins disabled as well.

hello, has anyone experienced this issue? whenever I open Vesktop I get an empty, invisible window. If I then close then reopen Vesktop from the tray icon everything is working just fine. The file attached is the output of running the program from the terminal. I also found some issues related from Obsidian and Chromium that are probably due to some electron weirdness:

Why is my Discord laggy?

The most common cause of lag is poorly written CSS.

To see if this is the case for you, try temporarily disabling all themes and your QuickCSS.

If that indeed fixes the lagging, you'll have to figure out which theme / part of your QuickCSS is causing the lag.Just slowly remove parts of it until it doesn't lag anymore.

Let me clear things up:
on your browser you had the Vencord extension installed, and some Discord update broke the settings tab for Vencord

On the desktop app, you don't have Vencord installed, this is why it doesn't display an error

If you still want to use Vencord without the error then you should probably just install Vencord for the desktop app and use it instead

so i'm on linux using nixos with sway
in sway i use swayidle with sway-idle-audio-inherbit

so the swayidle suspends my system after somtime and they sway-idle-audio-inherbit resets the timer or send signal to not suspend if some audio is playing

my issue here is that the vesktop or any discord client plays a fake audio or playback which i can see in pavucontrol

the audio is just silence and nothing so the sway-idle-audio.... detects this and prevents swayidle from suspending my system

most of the time this dose not happen like i join a vc or play something on vesktop then the plaback of discord terminates after some seconds but somtimes it just dosen't

No. These packages are maintained by people (usually) unrelated to Vencord. We can't provide support for unofficial repackages of Vencord unless it's an actual bug in the mod itself (except when such bugs occur due to the repackage).
