which is sometimes where discord gets installed to, but client mods don't usually work when its installed there because they assume discord is installed in %appdata%/%localappdata%

Client modifications are against Discord's Terms of Service.

However, Discord is pretty indifferent about them and there are no known cases of users getting banned for using client mods! So you should generally be fine as long as you don't use any plugins that implement abusive behaviour. But no worries, all inbuilt plugins are safe to use!

Regardless, if your account is very important to you and it getting disabled would be a disaster for you, you should probably not use any client mods (not exclusive to Vencord), just to be safe

Additionally, make sure not to post screenshots with Vencord in a server where you might get banned for it

my antivirues database apparently had a report containing the file name that was vencord as a "prevention to update"

meaning that it couldnt update

like the antivirus couldnt update the database because the file was listed as "in subject catagory [span of incomprihenseable text]"

so i just moves the file back into vencord and i was able to reinstall

Seems like Discord is still running in the background. Make sure you close it fully. It will most likely be in your tray, but if not you can use your Task Manager to force close it. After that, you should be able to install Vencord properly.

Hi, dunno if this qualifies as a support question, but does anyone know if it's possible to make a whole Vesktop window transparent? I've tried changing --background-image to: none, url('link to transparent image'), url('local transparent image'), but it just becomes white, "Enable window transparency" is on. Using linux, hyprland compositor (also tried Plasma), both an AUR and a flatpak package yield the same results. If someone has a clue I would love to hear. Thanks!

This message is misleading. Run sudo chown -R "${USER}:wheel" /Applications/Discord.app in your terminal, then run the installer again afterwards.

The plugin "NotificationVolume" by @\.usf seems to break if the PC is under load.
Instead of playing back any sound with the set multiplier, no sounds are played at all, everything is completely silent.

Restarting discord fixes it for a short duration, but not permanently.

Disabling the plugin will correctly play back any notification (at full volume) at any time, even during the same testing circumstances.

Theres something wrong with my discord, its either a plugin or vencord itself. My vencord just replaces words that I did not mean to say. I uninstalled vencord and tried a few words that switched words. The words did not switch with vencord uninstalled but when I installed vencord again, it started switching the words again. I can try remove all plugins and see if its vencord itself. (im gonna try that rn)

Installed BetterDiscord and an official Discord package, and this configuration seems to work without any modifications (apart from enabling transparency and setting a theme, obv). Also found a lot of electron issues regarding transparency on github. Don't know if this is a problem with a particular electron version or Vesktop itself, so idk what to do about it.

Quick check is that your problem is the *lack * of a background image. Loaded it both as is and with your edit, and it defaulted to your image more or less.

Oh, just noticed it actually works when there's a window behind the Vesktop one. Also seems like the borders around the window also render the background properly. Just not when there's a layer (background) behind. On the picture: left side hovers over browser window, right side over the layer 0 (swww, background image), the border on the right I assume is --window-padding, rendering layer 0 as expected
