ok guys i have a take that may be controversial but is still interesting to think about.

embark wants to bring every class in line and equalize their pick- and winrates.

since light will always be the most fun class, there is only one option to equalize pickrates.

  • giving every class a unique utility that has a high value to the team and synergises with the other classes. doing this will lead to a team missing a certain utility to use the teams full potential IF there is a class missing.

technically this is already the case through specs and a few gadgets. but there are still a few problems.

1st: lights primary power is speed/movement AND recon. the problem here is, that mediums primary power is heal/support AND movement.
there is the problem.
the fact that medium can provide so much movement power for the team (through gadgets) its taking away the meaning of lights utility.

ideas:

-give light a gadget that can boost the whole teams moving speed like a adrenaline grenade🫠

  • take away mediums zipline and give it to heavy, to reduce the movement utility of medium, so light movement can be the best in its utility again.

  • there are too little gadgets that match the different classes primary roles and are bound to one class alone.

CONCEPT:

-every class can have more than one primary role
-the different specs are the indicator of the role and there should be more gadgets that match with the different specs to create and expand the different roles.

  • of course you can always choose your whole loadout like now so you could choose a loadout that doesnt really match a certain role.

-BUT, matching gadgets to different specs creates unique utility for the team so everyone is happy to have any class in his team.

  • the goal is to make a M/H/L team the team with the highest potential because every class brings some sort of high value to the team that none of the other classes can

There were plenty of light stuff that was "annoying" some op. Annoying still means in need of a nerf.

Back in s3, xp54 melted players at a huge dps and rof, insane reload speeds, hellish accuracy. TK had huge dps, stupid ass fire rate, and took around two shots to kill a light and three for a med. Sniper never had projectile, always hitscan. Tip of the iceberg.
And saying that sniper was only good in terminal attack is the thing that you'll get the most criticsim for, even by lights. Even now snipers dominate powershift.

And always remember that teh DMR requires actuall skill. Cuz its not easy aiming down someone through a scope while theyre jumping and moving around, especially when u dont have evas and cloak like a light xp54 and sniper does. Idk why did that to lh1 but I never asked for it so sorry aint my faultšŸ˜‚ .

Light is the most played class, yet mediums and heavies have dominated ranked to this day. They will be the most played class because most of them tend to stick around and help defend the obj, support the team, instead of camping on a crane and getting elims. Yes, it is as easy as that.

And as an all main myself, I have to say I agree with all the dagger reworks you mentioned, as well as the evas dash buff. But lights are supposed to be high risk reward people. Theyre supposed to be vulnerable, which is why they gave them fast mobility things like grapple and evas. So that lights are always on their toes.

Nah, it's a lot more fun to run off by yourself, die repeatedly while shooting at third-party teams having their own fights on the other side of the map, waste your coins and be upset that your team won't leave a cashout in progress to come rez you 150 meters away. Until Embark endorses this playstyle with balance changes, Light is not viable.

There are two Gadgets that have maintained almost 100% pickrates ever since the game released, despite numerous nerfs:

  1. Defibrillator
  2. RPG

This is because their functional value is immense regardless of minor tweaks to resurrection time or damage dealt.

Defib:
It is easily good enough to be made into a Specialisation. This is the most straightforward path.

If not, it’s going to need a series of strong nerfs for it ever to be worthwhile to take another Gadget instead. These nerfs would also reduce opponent frustration:

  • Disable use for 10 seconds upon resurrection. This would prevent the incredibly strong & infuriating chain-revive merry-go-round.

  • Prevent Defibbed players from shooting for a further 0.5-1s. They can spawn in shooting as it is, which is actually advantageous versus opponents relying upon timing/reaction.

  • Either:
    A. Allow the resurrecting player’s body to be destroyed (via gunfire only) before completion. This would finally limit most of the value from ridiculous mid-combat rezzes.
    B. Prevent use of other Gadgets & Specialisations for 5 seconds upon being Defibbed. This would stop players immediately Jump Padding away or dropping Frags at their feet.

RPG:
Whilst it deals good damage it will remain a must-pick. It could instead serve the least-picked Heavy class great fun & some much-desired manoeuvrability:

  • Reduce damage to 50. This is still useful against groups, for dealing 1/3rd of a Light’s health, & for finishing off targets.

  • Increase explosive radius by 50% - the extended region will deal zero damage. Allow it to be the defining tool of destruction.

  • Enable minor knockback at the explosion’s epicentre, allowing Heavies to trade some health to perform a rocket jump as well as move enemies on direct-ish hits.

  • Reduce cooldown by 15s

To be honest, with these changes I’m certain it would still have an exceptional pickrate. But it would be so much more than a low-skill, high-value fight initiator.

I just dont understand why you would release the sponsor outfits, a main part of the season, and have every single possible upper back, crossbody, and lower back piece clip through the iseult jacket (INCLUDING THE ISEULT BAG). Like what? How does this not get noticed?

@brittle obsidian imo, give the damage back and just nerf distance falloff. its only OP when it can do the same damage at 100 meters as it does at 20, which makes no sense for an smg. -- i mean the m11 is also an smg so they arent that different to begin with, theyre both made for cqc irl. but m11 is meant for hipfire and only cqc in the game (before sights got added of course). the xp was supposed to be mid range (30-40m) since it was the only gun with a sight for a while. i'd take lower rof with the damage back, but tbh the lower rof would make me miss less shots in cqc. people mostly complained about dying from 100+ meters to it since its damage falloff is like zero. it wasnt exactly busted in close quarters because if you missed like 3 bullets on an M or H, or didnt get any headshots, you need a reload to win the fight. idk, i thought it was in a reasonably balanced place before, just needed to lower the range or give it bullet spread at 70+m distance.

Every season is so close but yet so far. S1 was a practice run so bad balance and ranked. S2 had bad ranked transparency but pretty good balance. S3 made terminal attack ranked and added winch, one of the dumbest decisions. S4 is basically worse than S1 balance wise in this long range, infinite health, boring medium meta. Although casual is still very fun

Please figure out a way to award more objective points for moving the active cashout, defending it, stopping steals. Combat score doesn't win the game like objective score does, you can win the game with 0 combat score.

controversial opinion; L inconsistency in terms of use from weapons, gadgets, and specialization are what make the class not fun to fight against and make the class weaker because of it. L has 150 hp, he has the fastest movement speed, but has low ads movement speed and firing movement speed when used with an automatic. semi auto weapons and shotguns are strong as hell with L for letting the user have tons of movement while firing. L weapons have a fast time to kill if not extremely good burst damage material, where even if you died trying to fight 2 people with the double barrel shotgun, you have wounded the enemy so badly that the team can clean up what you have started. L can't secure kills because of his health, yet the time to kill is so fast that whenever light joins a H/M, H/H, or M/M team they tend to be useful like everyone else. L can't be useful when fighting off on there own. L/L/L teams aren't that good in competitive because they can't be independent, which makes him weak. L has no passive combat movement other than relying on specialization, L mainly rely on dash to make them have combat movement because of how fragile they are. the idea of ambushing people with cloak and or using grappling hooks gets overlooked when you have the chance to survive off on your own in fights instead of relying on the team to tank damage. the dash is not fun to fight, because of it pairing well with burst damage and it being a crutch for L. the gadgets usefulness range from throwing 3 smokes that block sightlines of your team and the enemy in a small area. to being able to block cashout steals and controlling movement/specialization of targets with the stun gun. there are so many highs-highs and low-lows for use in gadgets that most of the high tier gadgets that are picked are not fun to fight and they are not fun to use either. some weapons/gadgets/specialization become mandatory for L to flourish and when they get nerfed, it will reveal how weak the class is.

I feel like the Mesh Shield nerf homogenizes heavies a fair bit!

It feels like charge and slam is the definitive best option, with Goo and Winch being still good but not as powerful as Charge. With the current state of mesh shield, it feels very punitive to play with. The original lack of cooldown allowed it to be quite versatile, and in my personal experience, never found it overtuned or painful to play against (as any class). If its relevant, I used Charge until Winch got added, and only looked back to Charge with this season. While I only used the Mesh Shield Specialization in Powershift, I feel like it’s not as good since I would rather run goo gun or winch because of Mesh’s long cooldown.

I also think that there needs to be more hype with the announcers, with a unique line for something like a last second steal/finish!

RPG is such a good damage booster and overall utility that everyone runs it 24/7. its hard to let go because of the damage, and destruction it does for ranged heavy. its also useful for the long ranged chip damage for melee heavy. now that the RPG is slowly getting balanced for ranged heavy, melee heavy doesn't have enough chip damage at times to rush the enemy before they kill you. So they need to make a new gadget that can act as a secondary weapon for heavy. it should be overlooked for ranged heavy but can be useful for melee heavy. its much more easier to play ranged than melee at this point, and by balancing the RPG to only be used for ranged heavy, you neglect half of heavy's weapons doing so. there is no consistent bunkering for melee heavy since dome shield and mesh have been balanced properly for ranged. any specialization/gadget that can be good with melee, can be better with ranged. we need a melee specific gadget for heavy. otherwise people are gonna complain about heavy not having good melee even though its the most punishing.

Really unhappy about the headshot challenge, of 50 headshots over 50meter range. I don't mind if I have to try new weapons - like I did not mind having to do headshots from any distance the last season's headshot goals. But having to completely change my preferred gameplay (melee) in order to achieve a goal is excessive. I have zero clue how to play like a sniper, and no interest in it either - I can guarantee I won't continue to play as a sniper after completing this goal, if I ever manage to. Feeling like I'm wasting everyone's time and having terrible association with the game while working on this.

First of all devs reverted and buffed most weapons for a faster time to kill but didn’t revert dash,it was a problem with weaker weapons past season not now,atleast buff dash by 1.2sec

Have grapple hook stick to any surface indefinitely for vertical map positioning

Dagger time to backstab is way too slow and single tap stab needs to be back plus u can also hold,it’s almost unplayable now,especially when u r against any decent play

You’re right however melee weapons in general are just not nearly as complex as they need to be for viability.

Their implementation is very basic & the result is that they’re more gimmick than weapon. Strong against noobs & increasingly useless against more competent opponents.

Minor movement, ranged, & defensive attributes are necessary for their viability, but I don’t see the devs ever putting in the work to essentially recreate them from scratch.

As such I think they should only be taken into minimal consideration when balancing. Especially in urgent instances like with the RPG.

World tour is pretty much unplayable as a light. EVERY team has a cl-40 that just melts. There aren’t any light weapons that can counter it fast enough aside from sniper (let’s be real, pretty much no one is playing sniper in a tourney). Every gamemode should be at least playable for each class.

Nerf the damn CL-40 already. It was absolutely fine before the buff. Melted lights, could still kill heavies fast enough and was OK against other mediums. It’s a damn explosive weapon meant for doing splash damage to several people, not for absolutely destroying everyone that comes close, or even far away from that matter. I’ve seen 3 mediums with CL-40 jumping on a bounce pad over and over from one cash out and blowing up another cash out from across the map. It’s the dumbest shit I’ve ever seen

3 health beam plus defib it’s crazy,health beam needs to start off at a slow pace for medium and especially heavies and then heal at a normal rate.

Pike is so strange,it’s like a way better revolver,if u could add a more zoomed sight for revolver it would be perfect.
A camping medium with pike’s long range and high fire rate is crazy to deal with.
Pike is a better lh with more health as medium,bad new entry as a weapon.

Pike needs a total hip fire nerf and lower fire rate.

Data reshaper rework should be if u reshape 3 orange barrels then u get one time use of a pyro grenade or gas if u get green canister or glitch grenade if u get 3 blue barrels,your team mates can gather them,so there is teamwork!

How is someone supposed to play the slowest, biggest hitbox in the game if you took 1/3 of the self defense away? I joke: playing heavy is just taking damage and running away at this point..

The "lights have the lowest win rate at ranked" post from Embark has given infinite ammo to Lights for the rest of time to justify the worst balancing opinions imagineable. It also allows them to take zero accountability for ever losing. And considering how many people here were upset about Sniper nerfs, there's an 80% chance most of them are allergic to being within 50 meters of their team.

The devs' idea of balancing seems to be to nerf any gadgets and specializations that slightly disrupt the act of shuut, so none of your buffs are happening. You will be a big slow shuut and you will fight small fast shuuts and you will be happy.

I've seen very few complaints about the rank system. you have literally no impact on your rank in the current system if you go 0/20 you get the exact same rank increase as if you go 20/1. your entire team gets the same rank increase dependent on where you place.

Obviously you have impact in the way of if you go 0/20 it makes it way harder on your team but in terms of actual rank changes your stats don't matter just as long as your team can carry you you'll go up the same rs as them.

I know most games come down to win/lose but usually your performance has a slight impact on the increases/loss. Unless im mistaken Finals use to as well?

You need to take a far more proactive role in separating the match into two 1v1s.

If the two Cashouts are completed within a ~30 second window then swap the team matchups assigned to each Vault and subsequent Cashout.

Lock team respawns to their assigned Cashout.

Tactical third-parties will still be possible but will:
A. Largely be contained to players that intentionally make this decision, dramatically reducing the overall number
B. Be harder to secure as death will respawn you all the way back at your assigned Cashout

i feel like the 50 headshots at 50 meters challenge is a bad idea because it promotes avoiding teamplay and is all around annoying for all parties. I have to sit super far from objectives to hope to get headshots and then my teammates are alone, the enemy gets annoyed because theres someone super far away poking them constantly, and i get frustrated when a map doesn't have 50 meter ranges to shoot from. The reward is also only 6000 xp but this challenge has taken me far longer than the 12k xp challenge did.

CL 40 getting buffed is really the most stupid thing they have done they nerfed rpg cuz it was doing a lot of damage and it was the right thing to do decreased damage to 100 and then they buffed a weapon with 4 bullets, each one doing 117 wtf and increasing damage range wow all you need to kill any players is shooting the ground and get them killed If you meet one using cl40 you will get destroyed no matter what you do. You have no chance and imagine a team using cl40 omg you can't run can't fight them and if you just choose to hide in a room you will be deadĀ  what an update

yeah I understand that, however it shouldn't have to be a gimmick. this would only require the creation of one gadget to make half of all weapons for heavy to be more viable in competitive. dismissing it as something not important because of the aspects of what makes it weak is why some weapons get labeled as a "gimmick" to begin with. heavy has 9 weapons, 5 of them are long ranged, and only 3 of them are considered viable choices in comp. people will get bored of those 3 weapons very quickly especially when they nearly play the same. the other 4 weapons are very close range with 3 of them having an area of influence (so no small chip damage). for people playing the game its much more fun and experimental for players to have different playstyles other than what's meta, casually or not. heavy benefits from defenses in general no matter what. buffing defenses helps ranged players as well as melee, so we cant just buff up defenses. so why cant we add a bit of chip damage at medium range for melee heavy? it would make short ranged weapons feel better since you aren't just relying on the enemy being new to the game and not immediately running away from you. It would make holding out cashouts in the middle of nowhere better to handle for melee heavy since they aren't just praying on your own defenses constantly. and it would make melee heavy have more viability with the team when used properly. even if you just made a m1911 with only a clip of ammo that has to be regenerated like the tracking dart, and only does 60% of a mediums health with a full clip of ammo, melee heavy would have more use from it than ranged heavy. it would be copying the same type of design with the pyro from team fortress 2. diving into enemies is a dumb plan to do no matter what class, so instead of having melee heavy relying on only there primary to do damage, lets give him a gadget that acts like a secondary to play a bit of distance. that was what the RPG was doing in the first place for melee.

As a dagger enjoyer of previous seasons, I have realised that this new alternative attack is much better than the previous one due to how consistent the backstab is now. However I feel that the increase in charge time, combined with the movement penalty makes it very difficult to use against good opponents because of their level of awareness and acuraccy with guns.

Reducing the charge-up for the secondary attack and adding the option to sprint should be a good place to start to improve it's performance

Triple medium stack Kills the game since Removal of nukes (which was a good thing) Whatever nerf you do on Defib and heal beam or delete recon senses, or nerf the weapon, it doesn't matter, the problem is not the tools of any class L/M/H, the problem is having 3 classes choices but having games with 90% of 3 stacks med because they are the most broken class when you pick 3 of it or even 2 of it, but ofc a MMM beats a MM(L/H) anw ;

Lock the queues to 1-1-1 in ranked match, maybe not world tour but at least ranked. (one light, one medium, one heavy that you choose while launching the matchmaking, like OW or LOL for most known exemples), please.

Yeah the meta sucks right now.... This patch desperately needs balance changes. Pike needs more visual recoil and damage fall off. Model needs damage fall off. CL needs more self damage. RPG needs less cooldown or two charges. Revert XP and LH1. Buff glitch grenade explosion range. Revert Mesh. Revolver needs less damage fall off. Buff less utilized weapons/gadgets. Ranked is just pike and model and if you have an off-meta teammate its an L. It's already stale.

From season 1 to now I managed to more or less successfully main heavy with melee weapons. But I just cant anymore, MMM is too oppressive. Everygame feels like either playing against snipers only or mostly snipers with a few cl40 abusers. No fun at all

ok guys i have a take that may be controversial but is still interesting to think about.

embark wants to bring every class in line and equalize their pick- and winrates.

since light will always be the most fun class, there is only one option to equalize pickrates.

  • giving every class a unique utility that has a high value to the team and synergises with the other classes. doing this will lead to a team missing a certain utility to use the teams full potential IF there is a class missing.

technically this is already the case through specs and a few gadgets. but there are still a few problems.

1st: lights primary power is speed/movement AND recon. the problem here is, that mediums primary power is heal/support AND movement.
there is the problem.
the fact that medium can provide so much movement power for the team (through gadgets) its taking away the meaning of lights utility.

ideas:

-give light a gadget that can boost the whole teams moving speed like a adrenaline grenade🫠

  • take away mediums zipline and give it to heavy, to reduce the movement utility of medium, so light movement can be the best in its utility again.

  • there are too little gadgets that match the different classes primary roles and are bound to one class alone.

CONCEPT:

-every class can have more than one primary role
-the different specs are the indicator of the role and there should be more gadgets that match with the different specs to create and expand the different roles.

  • of course you can always choose your whole loadout like now so you could choose a loadout that doesnt really match a certain role.

-BUT, matching gadgets to different specs creates unique utility for the team so everyone is happy to have any class in his team.

  • the goal is to make a M/H/L team the team with the highest potential because every class brings some sort of high value to the team that none of the other classes can

i pray for someone to decide to change the "50 headshots from 50+ meters" challenge to something more reasonable, because like this i am never going to be able to complete it: whatever anti aliasing method i use i can never see people clearly enough from 50 meters away, people just melt into their background the second they move.

even if i was able to complete it i would still have a problem with it: why are you encouraging sniping in powershift? is it not bad enough already?

i can guarantee that whatever challenge is thrown at me in the next stage of the engimo circuit i'll be able to do it, but this one just causes me mental anguish.

Sucks that only dualsense controllers have native gyro support. I imagine its a nightmare working with nintendo on such things so I get it, but ignoring sdl2 gyro input seems like an unnecessary overstep that rules out using 90% of third party controllers on the market that could go the Switch Pro -> DS4Windows route.

Is there anywhere I can report bugs? The finals has always ran so smooth with no lag but recently the past 3 weeks I’ve had these problems.

  1. When I invite my friend to my party they don’t show up in my party right away, I have to wait around 3-5 minutes for them to show up.

  2. At times when I’m searching for a game with my party, they join the game while mine still says searching.

  3. After a game when clicking continue after the end scores/stats it sometimes gets stuck saying ā€œconnectingā€ and I never get back to the lobby and the only way is to close out the game and reopen it.

All of these happen with my duo, I haven’t tried squads or trio.

It’s all odd to me since I’ve never had issues with the game and I’ve been playing since the beta.

Seriously, I've said it twice (That being in BOTH season 2, and in season 3.), I'll say it again. Stop with the distance challenges for weeklies, you are influencing bad player behavior. Lost some ranked matches and power shift matches just because people are so dead focused on completing their weeklies instead of playing the objective. The culprit being this week for 50 headshots (doesn't have to be kills) from 50 meters away or longer. The problem isn't obtaining the headshots, if it weren't for the distance engagement at 50 meters or more, it wouldn't be a problem.

Strategy can’t really account for the shit spawn system if you’re in an even lobby - which you should be in Ranked.

It’s an inevitability that third-parties will happen because of the game itself, not player decision, & it’s horrid when it happens regardless of whether or not you survive.

The asymmetric Cashout times can also give teams that finish early a free shot at butting in at the end if the conditions are right.

Probably been said by others, but the switch from circuit stages providing one piece of a complete outfit to just giving xp now is an objective downgrade. I get that clothing assets take time and resources to create, but a lot of them are already color swaps anyway, which I think most people are fine with. I feel way less motivated to complete challenges when the only reward is a skin for a gun I hardly use if I complete absolutely everything. Please consider bringing back the old circuit rewards system.

Idk how you say you love this game from season 1. When the only thing that's really changed is pikes and nerfs to heavies (tho they've nerfed everyone, Since you played season one you remember scar, that was a medium nerf >.> warrented but its not fair to act like heavy is the only class that's been nerfed since season 1)

Everything else has literally been a thing since season 1, the spawns, the maps (like the season 1 maps haven't changed) there have been new ones ofc., the fps, Shoot when the giant building on seoul randomly decides to crumble (which has been a thing since the ob) it use to literally bring your fps down to 1.

there's been some cashout changes penalty wise which wasn't a season 1 thing, but you didn't mention those so.

This Medium > All meta is really wearing down my patience and interest.

Oddly enough Heavy feels less satisfying to play despite having received weapons buffs. Gutting Heavy of its defensive strength patch after patch, especially making the MS so weak pushes the class to a playstyle I don't really like.

The spawns changed with s4. Before you had enough time to plant the vault into a cashout before they came for you. Now you teamwipe them first fight and they spawn inbetween you and the cashout. This didnt happen in s3 nor in s2. Also Heavys and Lights were a thing before this season. Now you have to play M, because their weapons are just abusively op right now. From a heavy perspective this game is no fun right now and i dont want to play these boring ass medium assault rifles. I want to play this game in my own individual style but this season this just became impossible if u want to win.

How is the game running this badly on the xbox series s??? It ran completely fine before the last update of season 3, and is still a constant issue in season 4. The framedrops are actually so unbearably gigantic it might be on the verge of crashing, i’ve never seen a game run worse than this. And no other game is lagging for me, so its really the game thats lagging. I really like this game and want nothing more than for it to thrive, but when a game is struggling to even run normally, its really hard to keep those desires

As someone in the top 500 rn or close to it. Skip#2347. I want to highly suggest you actually nerf CL-40 and Sword. Right now the only people that get a penalty are people who can actually aim. Some weirdo who never played fps in their life can pick up a CL-40 and wipe a whole lobby for whilst there's no skill needed. Now that 3rd partying is WORSE than ever, people being clumped up together makes it even easier for the CL-40 players. Sword on Light should be massively nerfed and I don't comprehend why that has not been done last week. Honestly, if this keeps on going as a player with like almost 800+ steam hours and is close to getting diamond. I actually am thinking about quitting the game if things like this cant be nerfed. Same for Pike tbf. What the hell is going on with that? You guys have not gotten the balancing right at all this season. Another last part, the ranked system is the absolute worst it has ever been. I get put in "very easy lobbies" on 36,5k RS. whilst I have to play against 6-7 teams that have like 44k RS and are in the top 10. I gain around 300rs. and lose 1400 rs. in a VERY EASY LOBBY, with solely diamond players having like 8kRS higher than me. Make it make sense? Please fix the game? Atleast make playing against 7 diamond teams "intermediate or challenging and let me gain like 500 rs whilst I have 36,5k myself? This is absolutely horrific. Also take out Kyoto for ranked since it’s just not a map for competitive ranked mode at all.

I mean it would work. if you increased the time it takes to decloak to 0.5-1 second. peoples reaction times usually takes around 1.5 seconds to register something hazardous. the 2 meter reveal radius should be bumped up to 4 meters, however the reveal radius can be done by having the decloaking emit the ambient sound instead of revealing where the person is. for the cloak bomb, I would suggest leaving it as is since it would be more of a hinderance to teammates if it worked the way you suggested it.

just because the cl40 is overpowered currently doesn't mean you need to buff the aps turret. the aps is fine for what it does currently. we need to just focus on nerfing the aspect of combining gadgets and specialization to make cl-40 balanced and you have to do it while handling that specific weapon. if you don't, then it also affects everyone who don't use that gun, creating a new form of unfun meta. during S1, aps didn't take damage when deleting projectiles, yet cl-40 players used the aps, mines and turret to make it so that people couldn't combat defenses all. even the combos of aps and turret was very oppressive to fight against since you couldn't disable the turret via grenades or goo. aps was too oppressive back in S1 for people trying to get into a defense. so they need to find a way to fix cl40 other than doubling down. @gleaming tide we would also just be running in circles balanced wise with your approach, but whatever it seems you don't want to find the correct solution, you just want to be right.

Can yall up the octane in the final round ranked. There is no reason teams should be spawning 120m away from cashouts. Just keep the teams spawning in 40-50 m at the location of their choosing with a 15 second wipe penalty.

Devs if you do not make Light a more viable class I am done with the game, I cannot compete with every medium running CL40 plus defib plus turret/heal gun. Even with a 70-80% accuracy I cant kill most people without having to reload, getting me killed. Invis doesn't mean shit to any experienced player who can pick you out of the background instantly. CL40 two taps me, and the pike 3 taps at ANY range plus its easy as hell to control, making my close combat less favored to me. I already have to deal with people double mining dorrs, instantly killing me, and the glitch trap making my tools useless, which will ALWAYS get me killed. I have no inclination to play other classes, and just because people like one class does NOT mean you should make it worse to play just to encourage others.

i want a play history, with all stats, with the current rank, its like hell to progress in this game. i dont know how this game balancing works, i play against lvl 63 players with 1k wins and 12k elims, but for some reason in the same lobby, my mates are lvl 36 and have 60 wins. i dont know how both player are in silver 1. maybe its a region thing, but lobbies like these are unplayable, there is no chance to progress. i spent the last few days grinding. started from 17k falling down to 13 and now im up to 17 again, but it seems like the game only gives me the most difficult match ups, when im about the hit gold and it is really just not fun

L inconsistency in terms of use from weapons, gadgets, and specialization are what make the class not fun to fight against and make the class weaker because of it. L has 150 hp, he has the fastest movement speed, but has low ads movement speed and firing movement speed when used with an automatic. semi auto weapons and shotguns are strong as hell with L for letting the user have tons of movement while firing. some of L weapons have a fast time to kill if not extremely good burst damage material, where even if you died trying to fight 2 people with the double barrel shotgun, you have wounded the enemy so badly that the team can clean up what you have started. L can't secure kills because of his health, yet the time to kill is so fast that whenever light joins a H/M, H/H, or M/M team they tend to be useful like everyone else. L can't be useful when fighting off on there own. L/L/L teams aren't that good in competitive because they can't be independent, which makes him weak. L has no passive combat movement other than relying on specialization, L mainly rely on dash to make them have combat movement because of how fragile they are. the idea of ambushing people with cloak and or using grappling hooks gets overlooked when you have the chance to survive off on your own in fights instead of relying on the team to tank damage. the dash is not fun to fight, because of it pairing well with burst damage and it being a crutch for L. the gadgets usefulness range from throwing 3 smokes that block sightlines of your team and the enemy in a small area. to being able to block cashout steals and controlling movement/specialization of targets with the stun gun. there are so many highs-highs and low-lows for use in gadgets that most of the high tier gadgets that are picked are not fun to fight and they are not fun to use either. some weapons/gadgets/specialization become mandatory for L to flourish and when they get nerfed, it will reveal how weak the class is.

in the pursuit of the absolutely awful 50m contract, i am getting screamed at nearly every power shift game (the only mode i can find a chance to try for it) as throwing the match. which isn't true, but nobody wants snipers on their team players who don't engage the platform. this contract is hated by both people trying to get it and teammates.

I want the game to succeed, so I'm trying to give the devs the right direction on what people want out of balancing. doing long winded texts like these helps identify the problems of certain aspects of the classes, it invites discussion for other players. with discussions like these it can help Embark feel confident in fixing the game for the community. the devs sometimes don't fully know the context to things inside of the game and it helps to identify the key aspects of what makes a weapon/specialization/gadget become good or bad. I know it seems like a lot, but I want the game to not be on fire currently and I want to be the change I want to see out of this forum.

The dome shield nerf was fine, but an unexpected consequence of buffing the cl40s blast radius (which has made it entirely miserable to play against btw but thats a topic for another day) is that almost EVERY time you try to throw the dome while already in a fight, the dome just doesnt deploy, cause its core gets exploded mid air. Please make the core invincible to explosions until the shield deploys, then once its deployed, the core can be one shot for all i care, just let me use it at least.

This is a minor issue compared to the pikes current damage (for the love of god prioritize balancing it)

  • go back to the original wall selection process (smaller sections), but add a feature where you can hold down the ADS button to select multiple surfaces at the same time (producing the same effect as the current buff) and then you hit trigger to demateralize them all at once.
    -add a streamlined closing feature, if you open up multiple surfaces at the same time, closing one of them will close all of them

It’d be cool if we could customize / personalize the practice range.

New mode ideas:

Rock, paper, scissors:
1v1. Best of 3. You get to pick each class once. Takes place in practice range sized sections of the maps made using that boundary thing in TA games.

Cash Grab / Coin Toss:
a football style game mode.

  • Two teams battling over one cube, trying to throw it into the other team's practice range wall to score points.
  • 6v6

Tag:

  • One person is ā€œitā€ and they are a light while everybody else is trying to run away from them.
  • The players running away are medium until they get tagged, then they defib respawn in that spot as a light;
  • the person who was it bursts into coins and respawns across the map as a medium.
  • If someone goes a certain amount of time without getting tagged then they burst into coins and immediately respawn as a heavy.
  • No lethals in this mode. No stun gun.
  • Mediums have one loadout: Demat, jump pad, zip line, and goo grenade.
  • Heavies have one loadout: goo gun, antigravity cube, motion sensor, flashbang.
  • Lights can choose between cloak, hook, or dash, and thermal bore, sonar, vanish bomb, tracking dart, thermal vision, or gateway.
  • Points awarded for successful tags, deducted for being tagged, and for amount of time- within a certain range of the player who is it- that you go without being tagged, big bonus if you avoid being tagged all round

Turret is meant as a distraction/defence support gadget, not an on-demand aimbot guard dog at your feet. Smart turret placement is already perfectly effective.

You say a medium team is difficult to approach, then ask for model to be more effective at medium range with tighter spread...Shotguns should have maximum effectiveness at close range with a sharp drop outside of that. If anything, it needs way more spread at medium and long range, esp since pike is already massively op at medium range.

cl40 needs to do more self-inflicted damage after the buff. people keep abusing it way too much and will just shoot at their feet to get out of a pinch and it's very unlikely for the user to die from it

i also think the APS turret should kill projectiles that are in line of sight--it doesn't make sense that a turret can "shoot down" an RPG from the floor below when it can't even see the rpg

medium is difficult to approach because of the utility provided to a team as well as the weapons. medium excels in mid range by design, its even in the description of the class in game.

a range nerf to the model would still keep it overpowered in high elo, meaning it would eventually just be nerfed again and made useless. its an inherent design flaw when used in a coordinated team v team environment. medium needs to be susceptible to gap closers unless built for it (which is the point of the turret rework)

and about the turret rework, its not just an on demand aimbot. the turret deploy time is ~5s currently before it starts shooting. halving it would make it 2.5s, which is still too slow to be a reliable reactionary placement unless the person attacking you messes up. the turret is currently the worst of the 3 specials and has never seen usage in the meta. allowing it to be more skill based and strategic would do wonders for the spec while also reducing the frustrating parts of the current turret

You're telling me that when i have an entire 3 to 4 ft between me and the tip of that Spear that it STILL counts the hit register with that wide of a gap in between? GARBAGE. The turret is the main thing mediums use now that the heal beam got nerfed again, not only that but you've clearly never played in high ranked the past few seasons where it's either triple heal gun or triple turret. But either way I would be fine with the turret being how it is, if it didn't have the health of a heavy and infinite ammo. AI dmg in fps games has no place, especially in the ranked/comp scene.

The turret is seen nowhere in high elo. The current meta is MMM with 2x pike, 1x model, 2x heal beam, 1x demat. The turret is genuinely bad in 99% of situations and slightly annoying in other situations. It's inconsistency prevents it from ever being meta.

AI damage is fine when designed well. Making it avoidable unless the owner is playing alongside the turret and sacrificing other utility is completely fine.

3 health beam plus defib it’s crazy,health beam needs to start off at a slow pace for medium and especially heavies and then heal at a normal rate.

I barely play the game now because of the balancing in the game. the thing with the "if you don't like it, just don't play the game" is that it doesn't tell you specifically why people left in the first place. people need to express what's wrong with the game because if they didn't then they would lose the potential of the game being good. we need to notify Embark about how bad the balance is before we eventually call it quits. it only works for games that refuse to change, when you need the game to eventually die because of its own stubbornness. Embark isn't stubborn, they are able to listen to community feedback, and wants to improve the game to make it fair/fun for everyone. they don't deserve the threat of shutdown without knowing the reasons why at the very least. so some people are just hanging out in forums here giving advice, not playing the game. that's why people are here complaining about the balance changes, because they want to keep the game going.

Revert Cl40 to the old damage (or maybe increase it a little over what it was before) and just INCREASE THE AMMO TO 5. It solves the issue for needing 100% accuracy to kill a heavy and either way, due to the reload mechanic, its really not hard to kill heavies with cl40 anyway, even if it takes 4 made shots

Not really, model has fast follow up shots so missing isn't nearly as big a deal compared to DB. Model at the very least could do with a firerate nerf so missed shots are punished and increased the ttk in general so it doesn't feel as punishing to go up against.

You can abuse corners, and play around teammates despite missing and not dying, with a longer delay between shots, lights have a chance to goo, cloak, dash, or grapple away, heavies have a chance to throw down a dome, recharge mesh, mediums have more time to jump pad to escape or defib, I think slowing down the firerate overall would allow for much better gunfights overall between players.

please change how the leaderboard works, instead of doing 99% of someone's health and getting an assist, please make it like overwatch where it shows how many kills you actually contributed to. This makes the whole game feel more rewarding for the player so I can really see how many kills I actually was responsible for getting

this game has become ā€œthe mediumsā€ there’s no point in playing any other class. medium has all the meta weapons especially the CL and pike. the CL is a no skill aoe disaster. i’ve seem most teams running all mediums with CL movement gadgets, defibrillator, and heal beam. you can run in a room or stand outside and just bombard the enemy with aoe damage no need to aim. even if you shoot at your feat there is basically no damage being done when you and your team just heal beam each other. the pike 2-3 shots lights from any distance. i’ve been sniped from across map by the enemy who isn’t even fighting us and i’ve been shot dead faster than i can dash around a corner from the pikes insane speed and damage. even if you don’t use those 2 broken weapons there are still the great rifles in medium that use some skill to melt.

heavy’s pistol is broken too but at least they don’t have the movement to follow you and the mesh has been nerfed to the ground almost.

I disagree with a lot of what it is in here, but i will only speak on the things i have extensive experience on or care very much about

grenades should not glow, them not glowing is one of my favorite design choices in this game because the game will not make up for your lack of situational awareness, with how visible grenades already are, and how loud the throwing and landing noise is, you should not be getting caught off guard by them unless the audio bugs

Evasive dash ideas are kind of things that were already seen in the betas, i agree that dash should keep it's momentum at least to a certain degree, but do not agree with changing the speed, nor increasing the cooldown so drastically because it would make the specialization much worse for melee or otherwise close range playstyles who need dashes to have value

Cloak specialization being fully invisible and not being able to be directionally heard would make the specialization much too powerful imo, and i think the specialization is fine how it is now, given that it is meta at the highest form of play(at least for light), these changes would make cloak feel much worse to fight, and too easy to play

Dematerializer already can close every piece you opened if you target the intersections that caused you to open them in the first place, and this change would serve as a nerf to dematerializer, rather than making it better, at best this should be an optional thing that is not on by default

i dont believe the melee changes you suggest are formed from the perspective of a melee user, so i wont go too into depth on why i disagree because i think it would just be lost, but in short, riot being able to block melees would almost entirely make riot v other melee fights less interesting and more luck based, and i believe the weapon is fine how it is, except for the current state of sword with this recent buff, and the suggested dual blades changes are just weird and dont fit, thats all the room i have, ciao

No time to discuss this in details, but having your overall view on how class/weapons/gadgets could be tweaked makes your takes here more understandable/coherent.

My impression is that I would very much like to try your version of The Finals, although I don't necessarily agree with everything.

Suggestions on guns are interesting. I think the CL40 would need further tuning than just a ROF nerf. FCAR making a return as a compromise between the AKM and Pike feels right, but recoil shouldn't be lowered. No recoil FAMAS would probably be extremely strong in the right hands.

ok guys i have a take that may be controversial but is still interesting to think about.

embark wants to bring every class in line and equalize their pick- and winrates.

since light will always be the most fun class, there is only one option to equalize pickrates.

  • giving every class a unique utility that has a high value to the team and synergises with the other classes. doing this will lead to a team missing a certain utility to use the teams full potential IF there is a class missing.

technically this is already the case through specs and a few gadgets. but there are still a few problems.

1st: lights primary power is speed/movement AND recon. the problem here is, that mediums primary power is heal/support AND movement.
there is the problem.
the fact that medium can provide so much movement power for the team (through gadgets) its taking away the meaning of lights utility.

ideas:

-give light a gadget that can boost the whole teams moving speed like a adrenaline grenade🫠

  • take away mediums zipline and give it to heavy, to reduce the movement utility of medium, so light movement can be the best in its utility again.

  • there are too little gadgets that match the different classes primary roles and are bound to one class alone.

CONCEPT:

-every class can have more than one primary role
-the different specs are the indicator of the role and there should be more gadgets that match with the different specs to create and expand the different roles.

  • of course you can always choose your whole loadout like now so you could choose a loadout that doesnt really match a certain role.

-BUT, matching gadgets to different specs creates unique utility for the team so everyone is happy to have any class in his team.

  • the goal is to make a M/H/L team the team with the highest potential because every class brings some sort of high value to the team that none of the other classes can

ill give you some tips to fight against short ranged heavies since I know the struggles of fighting against those weapons when you first start out. if you main light or medium the best course of action is to run away in the opposite direction and fight at a distance against the heavy. no seriously, heavy can't catch up to you when you are running away from them so if you are in the jaws of danger, then dash 1-2 times (depending on the weapon they hold) and just run away until you can fight at a distance against them. 3 of the 4 short ranged weapons have an area of influence. so if you know where they can hit you at a distance, you can play around there area of influence. to put it into fighting game terms, melee heavy is a grappler, and half the battle for the grappler is to catchup to people to do big damage. if you know how to position yourself away from melee, then you can pretty much counter them just by default with light. if you see a player that has short ranged weapons at a distance, then they are a free target to attack. also if they have a winch, stand away from him around 15m since that's the maximum range to reach you. melee heavy isn't busted because these are the techniques players use to make the playstyle worthless. if anything melee needs a buff for how easy it is when fighting them at ranged.

Dash is straight up terrible in higher elo rn. Good players can just track it consistently so it goes entirely unused. Light needs a way for its survivability to be dependent mostly on the skill of the user rather than the skill of the enemy. Although I will say I’m not sure this change would be great. It’s just the only way I can see dash being good without iframes.

Cloak has the same issue as dash in high elo. It’s hard countered by people with functioning eyes and ears. The only reason cloak is actually viable in high elo rn is due to a tech that I will not get into that makes cloak practically invisible while moving. Without this tech, cloak is dogshit. Considering that this cloak rework adds a 0.25s decloak animation, it would balance cloak as more of a repositioning tool rather than something you insta burst enemies out of. Unless you wait for your team to engage them first and draw attention. Semi invis will never work and there’s a reason why almost no competitive games use it. It’s inherently poor design and is also hardware dependent.

Demat only does this if you can position yourself in the same angle you originally used it in. Which can either be impossible due to the floor being dematted, or due to wanting to close a hole behind you while escaping. This would help a ton with the consistency of demat in high intensity scenarios.

Riot shield changes are taken entirely from very good riot players. But I did mean to say that it should only block melee when holding the shield up. Not when at the side.

I will never agree on the melee weapons though. lol I still think the Hit Reg on Spear is dumb af ive had a full 3 to 4ft between me and the TIP of the Spear and i was still getting hit by it with space in between me and the Spear. THAT needs to be fixed. That and being killed by an enemy whose shooting in front of them while im completely behind them and theyre still getting hit reg on me. Has happened way too often this season to even consider it to be cheating. It's got to be a bug or somethin. Hope they can patch fix it.

i agree that there should be a self damage increase. MGL has a good amount of self damage but i dont think cl40's is very significant. But RPG's self damage is like 150% which im not sure would be suitable for a primary weapon tbh

also if the damage for the slam was the highest it would be way too easy to use and require no skill. The slam is easy cheap area damage and usually only used when u miss all your primary charge or as some extra damage at the end to finish them off. Charge is countered by dash, winch, grapple, glitch, to name a few, so its really not that OP if you know what to do against it. Also, i should mention that after the first hit on the charge, the damage is significantly less, and it is often easy to shoot the heavy down before he makes contact again (its pretty rare to get a chain of straight charges, esp with light and med)

@crystal magnet I feel like the issue with that is they actually can influence gameplay and can be seen as an unfair advantage (if you see a lampost it might be hard to tell its a zipline if you arent looking closely. And if you see a pancake on the floor u might not know its a mine and think its decor or something, esp when u see it for the first time or ur new to the game) As for the stun gun, i wholeheartedly agree

Lights grapple should be stuck to surfaces for vertical positioning and scouting from interesting vertical angles or ambush,use grapple to pull team mates idols for revives.

We need a flare gun gadget(light) so bad that’s sticks to enemies or walls. It’s low damage but it long term so it help for enemy player to avoid pursuing and heal it’s also bright and colourful sparks to show enemy location when it stick and leaves a spark trail on the map

id think most of the console community will agree with a few things and maybe a few pc players.
console players have a major disadvantage in fights with PC players, pc players can flick, turn and aim easier and control recoil easier, not only that can beam from a far,

for the players from pc, i bet 99% of pc players dont want controller players on their team, but love to play against them cuz our movement is horrible, we cant shoot far range for anything, and aim assist barely works, im assuming because of the in game settings not being accurate or something.

So can we please have console only, just like season 1? cuz nobody on console turns it off so its even harder to find a ranked match.

Not forgetting that the fps for console players are capped at 60, pc have every advantage possible, therefor we struggle with the in game mechanics more and again very tough long distances, especially AKM, Fcar and other similar guns, maybe not pike but i dont use Medium so i wont know šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

I sadly have to leave this game until we get a common/ranked teamvteam like 5v5 cashout. All my friends quit because standard cashout is so insanely toxic and disheartening. It’s too easy to punch down and third parties are way more common than whatever stats say otherwise. It just isn’t fun so they all quit and solo queue is miserable. I wish this game the best.

I mean if you are able to record these glitchy problems, then you can place it into #bug-discussion or #1201841543926005810 so that the devs can have proper documentation of these issues. the gimmick with the spear is that it has a bit more range than the sledgehammer, so keep that in mind whenever you go against them. some heavies will also use goo guns/grenades to try to trap you to get close. if you have dash, then use it when you get trapped. I use to main heavy sledgehammer before the gadgets around that playstyle got nerfed in S4, so I understand the issues of what makes them weak in fights. and let me tell you, heavy melee is in such a bad spot competitive wise that its not funny. @keen sequoia yeah heavy melee are now slowly abusing goo because of them now not having any sort of defense or ranged attack. I don't like it, because it's not fun for everyone involved with it. so when they eventually nerf stunning people with goo, they need to just give heavy a pistol as a gadget for medium range combat. otherwise no one will use melee heavy at that point. something that can just do enough chip damage to make it worth getting close enough to land a light attack against a medium. it can have only one clip and it would make melee heavy feel fair to fight against. I talked about a lot about the specifics earlier in the forum if you are interested.

Hi Trent, I don't have enough words to talk about every change in your notes, I will say that I don't intend to come off disrespectful, I appreciate you taking the time and trying to get the game balance in a good spot, I will talk about the cloaking device as it's a spec I have over 1000 hours of experience with.

I think your suggestion with the Cloaking Device would take a lot of the skill expression with it away, a lot of the skill involved with cloak is intuiting whether or not a player has detected you by seeing and hearing you, and knowing when you should be motionless or should be moving, as well as having the trigger discipline to coordinate your attack at the worst possible time for an enemy. Although full invisibility sounds powerful, even this slight delay would make it very clunky to use with how fast paced this game is. In my opinion, the cloaking device needs to properly render you invisible and silent when motionless, and I'd reduce the sound emission when moving in general with cloak so you can take flank routes close to enemies without having your play being called out. With how loud and visible cloak is, it fails to function as stealth spec from 0m - 25m the ranges of where the most impactful fights take place. You have to remain motionless within this range if you want to stay undetected, this is why I would prefer the audio part of cloak should be reduced. Also a lot of the cloak tech would be rendered useless with full invisibility which further lowering the skill expression. I appreciate the goal of your changes with cloak, I hope you can understand my position and we can discuss this further :)

overall most medium and heavy weapons do too much damage looking at the time to kill a light compared to the ttk a light needs to kill them.
I DONT UNDERSTAND YOU EMBARK. you see the stats but you proceed to nerf light weapons? you nerf the dash which nerfs its MOBILITY which is the only part of light that can make up for this outrageous damage disbalance in the game right now. BUT IN THE LONG TERM YOU NEED TO ADRESS THE DAMAGE DISBALANCE EMBARK.

Intrinsic class perks would be a massive step in the right direction for this game's competitive balance. Lights are damn-near useless in comp, as they simply don't have enough HP to spend an extended amount of time at objectives. Lights should be either be able to steal faster or delay the alarm of the cashout as it's being stolen. By virtue of all lights being rats, it just makes sense that they should be able to play the objective in a "stealthier" way.

Please fix queuing times, I've consistently had to wait for a minimum of 10 min per game in Ranked and World Tour this whole last day. It is significantly worse during night time (ca 00-09 am) with Ranked not being playable at all during these hours.

the double barrel has an effective range of melee and the light shotgun is used for close range combat. getting close to the enemy is very easy to do as light, so its not a problem. medium however doesn't have movement to close the gap, making the effective range be around 15 meters so that it can go toe to toe against assault rifles within that range. granted the damage for the new shotgun and the model shouldn't be a one shot and a quick melee against lights or a 2 shot and a quick melee against medium, but yeah that's the reason.

I think light gets a lot of hate, justifiably so. Although I am not opposed to what Embark envisioned with the character, they quite literally did not hit the mark on any aspect, and now they dug themselves into a horrific, overtuned, simultaneously moot AND OP character. They absolutely took all the worst parts of the archetype and mashed it into perhaps the worst class I have ever witness in a game. Part of me wants to believe its a joke cause I refuse to believe that upon hours of tweaking and meetings that they inevitably had, this pathetic product is what we are left with. Legitimately sad. Cannot wait for another studio to take a crack at this gamestyle

I like your list a lot, great to see such constructive feedback.

But there are some changes I don't agree with which @naive yarrow also pointed out.

**Here are a few I noticed that I didnt like: **

  • Granades imo should not glow. Since other nades (Traps, glitch, sonar, gas trap and nade etc) Also don't glow. It would kind of be the thing where call of duty has a problem with. But... They have a perk so on close range it would detect them. I think this could be cool of your idea.
    Imagine if the sonar granade also detects traps and such from the enemy team to your team. Like it does with people.

  • Barrels spawning on fixes locations: I like a bit of randomness in my games. Because they are random things like the reshaper (or something idk what its called for medium.) Is there for that reason if you dont want it random.

  • Guardian turret changes: This would make the other main perks of the medium obsolite with how strong that turret would be when defending. insantly snapping to enemy's when you shoot them is craaazy strong.

  • The model nerf: I think this change is a bit strong. Nerfing the dmg this much would mean on about 10m it would take 3 shots at least to kill one medium. (falloff etc.) Why would I not just pick up a Pike if its easier then.
    I would honestly keep the dmg. Or maybe make it a bit more. And nerf the heck out of the range dmg falloff. Making it a true shotgun, but not as strong as the dubblebarrel could 2 tap people.

  • R.357: Is kind of strong. It's a skill weapon with only 6 shots. nerfing the rpm makes it even more weak and still slower to the Pike after the nerf you metioned.

  • Akimbo .50s changes: I don't like how strong these changes are. It makes the weapon again almost a shotgun without it being a shotgun. I would otherwise just use the shotgun for the heavy instead of the .50's if they become this close ranged.

  • Sonar: You can already break the sonar granade btw ;) But it's just hard to hit

**Things I like about the list: **

  • Grapplehook: I like this, makes it more like Pathfinder in Apex. Would be fun to play with and gives light sick mobility.

  • Cloaking Device idea, I think this is a cool idea. Reminds me of the game: The hidden. Seems fun to use and play against. could be reel scary.
    But if the decloaking is too strong and doesnt make any noise It's almost impossible to find somebody.

  • Fcar: Even as a FCAR enjoyer like myself, I think these changes would make it differ itself from the AK. But the magazine reduce would be a bit much.

  • CL40: Hell yea, this makes it still strong and not as garbage to play against I think.

I either semi-like or don't semi-like. It depends on the change. But I wanted to highlight give a few things to give some feedback on the change list you made. :)

I don't think passive damage resistances are a step in the right direction, it only serves to invalidate certain weapons and destabilize the balance between class interactions. The perks should be conditional and relate to objective play. For instance: Light - faster steal speed, Medium - multitasker (able to hipfire with a wide dispersion while stealing), Heavy - status resistance (immunity to stun, resistance to gas and fire only while stealing). These perks play to the strengths of each class, making Lights faster, Mediums more tactical, and Heavies more resilient when actually playing the objectives.

ok guys i have a take that may be controversial but is still interesting to think about.

embark wants to bring every class in line and equalize their pick- and winrates.

since light will always be the most fun class, there is only one option to equalize pickrates.

  • giving every class a unique utility that has a high value to the team and synergises with the other classes. doing this will lead to a team missing a certain utility to use the teams full potential IF there is a class missing.

technically this is already the case through specs and a few gadgets. but there are still a few problems.

1st: lights primary power is speed/movement AND recon. the problem here is, that mediums primary power is heal/support AND movement.
there is the problem.
the fact that medium can provide so much movement power for the team (through gadgets) its taking away the meaning of lights utility.

ideas:

-give light a gadget that can boost the whole teams moving speed like a adrenaline grenade🫠

  • take away mediums zipline and give it to heavy, to reduce the movement utility of medium, so light movement can be the best in its utility again.

  • there are too little gadgets that match the different classes primary roles and are bound to one class alone.

CONCEPT:

-every class can have more than one primary role
-the different specs are the indicator of the role and there should be more gadgets that match with the different specs to create and expand the different roles.

  • of course you can always choose your whole loadout like now so you could choose a loadout that doesnt really match a certain role.

-BUT, matching gadgets to different specs creates unique utility for the team so everyone is happy to have any class in his team.

  • the goal is to make a M/H/L team the team with the highest potential because every class brings some sort of high value to the team that none of the other classes can

id think most of the console community will agree with a few things and maybe a few pc players.
console players have a major disadvantage in fights with PC players, pc players can flick, turn and aim easier and control recoil easier, not only that can beam from a far,

for the players from pc, i bet 99% of pc players dont want controller players on their team, but love to play against them cuz our movement is horrible, we cant shoot far range for anything, and aim assist barely works, im assuming because of the in game settings not being accurate or something.

So can we please have console only, just like season 1? cuz nobody on console turns it off so its even harder to find a ranked match.

Not forgetting that the fps for console players are capped at 60, pc have every advantage possible, therefor we struggle with the in game mechanics more and again very tough long distances, especially AKM, Fcar and other similar guns, maybe not pike but i dont use Medium so i wont know šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

Played a ranked tournament with a random who got extremely frustrated at my buddy. The next tournament we get matched with him again and he immediately leaves.
we were seeded first and even though we qualified the first round with only 2, we lost points

Please Embark, could we get a a firerate buff for the SA12 in the 4.3 ? With the nerf of mesh shield and the nerf it got, that weapon is way harder to play and significantly weaker, I hope I'll be able to play it has much as the deagle but the weapon is less a viable and interesting option now.

Pike literally does not make sense doing so much damage at range and being available to Ms. Mediums have more health than Ls, more damage, more range, more movement and more survivability than H or L. The pike can outrange the LH1 and has a bigger fire rate than the SR. It is a weapon that its too strong.
Then, the CL40 did not need a buff. By nerfing the mesh shield to the ground, what optimal counter is there for a CL40 user? People have been saying just get height over them but, this is just one M from the triple Ms that I see every lobby.
Lastly, same as with the pike, the model is a shotgun that has no counter. Hs and Ls shotguns respectively are so much worse than the model, with the incredible benefit of not needing to ADS in order to be precise thanks to the small spread.
Conclusion, the best weapons, the best abilities and the best gadgets are being given to the class that does not have a health problem nor a movement speed problem. This is not balance if you dont want to play Medium

As someone in the top 500 rn or close to it. Skip#2347. I want to highly suggest you actually nerf CL-40 and Sword. Right now the only people that get a penalty are people who can actually aim. Some weirdo who never played fps in their life can pick up a CL-40 and wipe a whole lobby for whilst there's no skill needed. Now that 3rd partying is WORSE than ever, people being clumped up together makes it even easier for the CL-40 players. Sword on Light should be massively nerfed and I don't comprehend why that has not been done last week. Honestly, if this keeps on going as a player with like almost 800+ steam hours and is close to getting diamond. I actually am thinking about quitting the game if things like this cant be nerfed. Same for Pike tbf. What the hell is going on with that? You guys have not gotten the balancing right at all this season. Another last part, the ranked system is the absolute worst it has ever been. I get put in "very easy lobbies" on 36,5k RS. whilst I have to play against 6-7 teams that have like 44k RS and are in the top 10. I gain around 300rs. and lose 1400 rs. in a VERY EASY LOBBY, with solely diamond players having like 8kRS higher than me. Make it make sense? Please fix the game? Atleast make playing against 7 diamond teams "intermediate or challenging and let me gain like 500 rs whilst I have 36,5k myself? This is absolutely horrific. Also take out Kyoto for ranked since it’s just not a map for competitive ranked mode at all.

Here's the problem, right: what's stopping Lights from using these gadgets selfishly like they do already? Invisiblity Grenade is already supposed to fill a team support role, but you never see Lights playing with their team enough for the others to get value from it. Same goes for the gateway, but that passively helps regardless of the Light player's intentions. Any team support gadgets you give to Light will automatically clash with the way the class is intended to be played. Light is meant to be a self-sufficient hit & run class. They're not brawlers like Heavy and Medium. Light is a fundamentally selfish class, that's why the pick rates are so high. People don't like relying on randoms for their success.

Overall reasonable changes. A few notes of mine:

  • I don't like removing randomness from barrels and jumppads. I like having some randomness in my games
  • having to wait for the decloak animation to use weapons. This would make playing dagger or knifes with cloak pretty awkward. Cloak should make you fully invisible, the reveal effect within 2m should be limited to the current cloaking effect and not make you visible. When moving slow/standing still, remaining cloak time should deplete slightly slower. The thermal vision should remain as is. I rarely ever see it used. It's a counter, sure, but you don't see gas, fire, map barriers etc. If at all, limit it's effective range. In fact I feel like exposing cloak is the only thing it's useful for
  • I dont like glowing nades. Would make them too easy to spot and be inconsistent to how mines work. Instead, they could add a highlighting effect to the sonar nades and the heavy sonar thing (forgot the name)
  • I really like the dash changes.
  • the turret instant locking on targets would make it very strong and extremely annoying. Instead makes it scan the full 90°, but apply a constant lock-on time. Would remove the inconsistencies.
  • I don't think the revolver needs the rpm nerf, even when buffing it. It's already a very niche, skill based weapon.
  • dual blades should keep the damage resistance as is
  • don't like reverting the glitch trap. New glitch trap is so much better.
  • winch claw changes are good, but .75s windup seems way too much.
  • I don't like the akimbo changes, that would effectively turn it into a shotgun
  • anti grav cube changes are good (though it would be funny if orientation would affect the direction of gravity change)

I think the riot shield needs more properties to make the sheild part of it more viable, maybe reduce fire damage taken when sheilding, as the fire sticks around alot longer on a sheild than the player, causing damage anyways, or change the hitbox of the riot sheild to cover maybe 2-4% more of the player, as the shield against some guns feel inconsistent

The dual blades arent very consistent or easy to use, Especially switching from trying to attack an opponent to blocking, sometimes the animations seem to be a bit drawn out for blocking to be easily accessible, maybe change it where the on the attacks where its two slashes, have it possible to cancel the second slash to go into a block.

And as a precision weapon, the pike needs less body damage, and more damage falloff, but the headshot damage stays the same, even with the damage additional damage falloff, making it harder to use as precision shots are more required to be competitive as a weapon

I would consider myself as a really good player and it is disgusting how often that happened to me. but more often there are situations where i get insultet at the start of the match but at the end they praise me xd.

light being underpowered is a problem but no teamplay has NOTHING to do with the game itself and is not in the hand of the developers.

Defibrillator is to strong. If a gadget is a must pick, that’s never a good sign.
I heard the idea before to nerf it so the m8 being revived can be shot during the process (canceling the revive). I think this is actually not a bad idea.
The benefit is that revives can not be brain dead and mid combat on top of the enemy anymore. You have to actually take the m8 and put him somewhere safe to defib him. You still have the advantage of faster revives but you loose the on the go rez ability in someone’s face.

The meta should be defined within what players choose to synergize as gadgets across multiple classes than just spamming heal beam defib with the strong weapon on medium that season. If this game is willing to experiment to the point that it brang a completely new mode into ranked for a whole season. Try role queue. AT LEAST for 1 season. The creativity of having stackable classes is an ideal scenario, but if you have a situation where that class has a very strong gadget you can stack and make it very very frustrating for all players to play against, then you need to fit different classes forcibly. Please please please for the love of god try role queue next season.

TLDR: Make ranked role queue (LMH only, no stackable classes), Do not touch other modes (like world tour) so people are still allowed to express class variety in that mode.

Nowhere in my argument did I say that random Lights are the problem. Quite the opposite, actually. I put the pressure on Mediums and Heavies, because they're the classes that need each other the most. I mentioned Light pick rates being high BECAUSE they're self-sufficient and don't rely as heavily on their random teammates to do what they're designed to do; which is go harrass people. And no, it's not the fault of the players that Light is a bad class, that's entirely the fault of the way this game is designed. A hit & run class will automatically be disadvantaged when all the competitive modes require capturing a stationary objective, which Medium and Heavy are both designed to do. I'm sorry people are blaming you for their losses, but don't fucking presume to tell me to "wake up" when you fundamentally misunderstand the point I'm making. Lights aren't balanced for the competitive modes in this game, nor are they balanced around fighting in prolonged brawls with their team. That's a blatant fact.

So, assuming that PC players are the majority of the community (maybe im wrong on this), i also can assume that find a match with crossplay off on PC Is preatty easy...so, add input based matchmaking or console crossplay only would not be a problem i think...

Dual swords block and deflection are fine, please dont touch that. For now at least.
Two points i would like you (Embark crew)to consider is:

  1. make the attacks a bit faster
  2. The ability to cancel attacks quicker to get into block. (At least 3rd swing.)
    I think these two points would make a difference, without duals in any way becoming op. Dont want them to fundamentaly changed in any way. Please no rework. I think the idea with them, and what you have come up with is great. Just needs tweaking šŸ™‚

Lights grapple should be stuck to surfaces for vertical positioning and scouting from interesting vertical angles or ambush,use grapple to pull team mates idols for revives.

We need a flare gun gadget(light) so bad that’s sticks to enemies or walls. It’s low damage but it long term so it help for enemy player to avoid pursuing and heal it’s also bright and colourful sparks to show enemy location when it stick and leaves a spark trail on the map

This is the best way to make people insta-leave or just avoid ranked outright. If I had to guess, the majority of the playerbase avoids playing at least one class (probably Light or Heavy) and at least 50% of players never seriously play anything outside of their main. Now imagine being forced to play something suboptimal to you because someone clicked the Medium button first. I might as well quit and lose the points, because I won't be able to do anything of value anyway and I don't feel like wasting 10 minutes.

The ONLY way to do this would be to lock your class choice in BEFORE it even matchmakes you, which is possible, but goes counter to how the rest of the game lets you do it so I don't think they'd ever allow it.

Healbeam:
To My opinion Healbeam should be disturbed/disconnect by incoming damage or the healed player should not be able to trigger his weapon as well as the Healer. It should only be a tool for regenerating after and between Fights and not as an unfair tool to let one fight against an infinite healthpool. 3x Medium with 2 Healbeams 3 Defabs and 1 Dematerializer seems to be The Meta wich lead to really unattractive and not finals-chaos-style Fights especially in the Final Round.

Buff building health, in my opinion, buildings before season 4 feels more like a building, now it feels more like a cardboard...

Ps: 1 rpg can demolish half of the building at times (i dont think buildings work that way)

Edit: yeah buffing health would make mines trash against building, however to solve this, you can just keep the wall health high, at the same time tweak the mines so it can destroy walls despite the walls having more health...

light is absolutely valuable AND it is the most valuable IN COORDINATION WITH THE TEAM LIKE EVERY CLASS

if there is a heavy as tank going in, a med behind him healing, who is shooting the enemy? ideally the class with the highest damage output, which should be light. you dont seem to understand that just because your light mates do not play in coordination with you, they arent instantly BAD DESIGNED.

a exact way to find out the right balance is to look at every matchup (in close to mid quarters) against a team of hlm (hhm;lmm;mmm…) filtering out, why stacking more than 1 kind of a class in a team is too powerful and adjust it so that a HLM team is the one with the most value potential.

one thing to admitt is that people DO NOT PLAY coordinated untill it is some easy ass mechanic like healbeam.
defib doesnt even rely on teamplay its just op.

and this is really just personal preference but i would hate shorter ttk and LOVED the ttks in season 1/2.

Because:

  • It does high damage up close, more than capable of harassing and downing heavies
  • Can two shot lights from a good distance away. Most lights will lose a fight with a model, even from an ambush situation.
  • still does 20 damage on 30 meters away, making it always w good idea to shoot
  • shoots rather rapidly. There really isn’t much time to punish before you get the next shot at you
  • reload time is rather quick and I believe can be done partly, so you aren’t out of ammo often
  • This very strong weapon is on a support class that can instantly revive, heal, create turrets as a distraction, incredible movement options with jumppad, etc.
  • same class also has good health and is almost as fast (and frequently faster with gadgets) as the speedy class.

In short, it is a very good weapon on a class with nigh on broken support. It simply cannot have both, pick good weapons or good support, not both.

We need a flare gun gadget(light) so bad that’s sticks to enemies or walls. It’s low damage but it long term so it help for enemy player to avoid pursuing and heal it’s also bright and colourful sparks to show enemy location when it stick and leaves a spark trail on the map

While I agree about the frustrating 3 Medium stacking, your suggestion for the healbeam is ridiculous! What's the point of having a heal beam that works the way you suggested when all Health can regenerate on its own.

Already when someone is healing, it's less firepower into the fight! Yeah, you're fighting someone who's being healed, but do you prefer fighting 2 at the same time?

Also, infinite heal? that's ridiculous, the heal beam is 40 points/s and overheats even before completely healing a medium. All weapons can deal more than 40 damage/s, and fighting a medium being healed, is as much health as 1.5 mediums at most, while dealing with one firepower instead of two.

So you clearly know nothing about the heal beam. I rarely had a problem eliminating someone being healed.

I'm sorry, but Light just doesn't provide the same benefits to the team in an objective based game that Medium and Heavy do. You're asking me if I'd rather have double the fortifications or double the healing vs having someone that can't help in a prolonged engagement because they're too fragile and on top of that they offer no utility to the team besides a high DPS.

As much as I hate double barrel, it lacks range and is on a class without many support options: their support is damage/harassing enemies.
But most calls to nerfs on model is that range and spread. And sure, model might not be easy to use (I just can’t), but that isn’t usually the best reason to nerf or buff something. For an exaggerated example, if there was a weapon that required a very precision dance to activate but once activated wipes the entire map, people are not going to enjoy fighting the people who mastered it.

not so hot take nobody was complaining about the xp54 being overtuned there was no reason for the nerf while buffing every other ar/mg in the game xp was only overtuned in terminal because it favored that playstyle somehow were back to season 1 meta of triple med also hot take limit healbeam/ defib to 1 per team or move defibs over to light/ add healing ablilites to spread out sustain to where its not all on one class preventing stacking (idea heal dart a stungun like pistol that you can shoot teamates or stab yourself for a healing over time/speed boost possibly a new gadget/specilazion) ps seasons been great besides small stuff like that

Not a big fan of the role queue idea. I was down with hero limits and role queue in Overwatch, but that was because that game felt like it was meant to be a very rigidly played comp shooter from the start and it didn't feel like there was a ton of room for creative strats and comps in ways that made matches more fun.

Finals to me feels like Overwatch's polar opposite in that a wide open sandbox with plenty of room for creative strategies and interactions is the entire point. It would feel tragic if teams became so limited in structure in the main mode of the game.

After playing almost daily since the open beta, i would like to share my point of view.. i read so many BS posts with absolutely zero input, only "nerf bla bla" ... nonsense.
Im playing on PC - EU - MKB - Crossplay off cuz im sick of XIM and other stuff (yea i know you can use it on PC too but anyways).

Heavy is quite balanced. IDK why the akimbo deagle are more accurate on long range than most other weapons but okay. Because of the increased cooldown of Shield, heavy is getting more and more aggressive which doesnt fit the playstyle in my opinion.
Medium isnt OP right now like everybody says, its just the bad decisions that was made to give medium EVERYTHING. It got the best weapon CL - the only thing that can counter CL (APS) - Revive - healing beam - jumppad - zipline - glich trap.... there is absolutly NO NEED to play any other class because medium got it. Of cause medium should heal and defib because thats the class but its just not fair.
Lets get to light, my favorite class which i play since beta. Only playable in casual or lower ranks where the enemys dont play together or run alone. Light is completely unbalanced right now and not playable in higher ranks. After the XP nerf and buffing CL for medium, there is absolutely no reason to play L anymore. Thats also the reason why i switched fom L to M after almost 1 year only L. A 1v1 vs M or H (even CL or pike) is balanced but if there are more then 1 enemy or the enemy teamg got more then 1 CL + APS you are lost. L is more a handycap for the team then anything else because you cant fight offensive with your team. The vanishbomb range is to low to be useful for the team. The only good thing they got is the sonar but thats it. Sniper is a complete joke and more an EGO fun weapon then useful for the team. The new shotgun is fun, just like XP or M11 but your low HP and almost zero benefits for your team is making your class useless. Stungun, sneak behind enemys with invi only works on low ranks, like i said..

The model shoots 10 bullets, only 2 of which are in the middle. More than often I depleted 75% of a Light's health, before they get far, and I followed it by 5 to 6 shots (keeping in mind the very low fire rate) to eliminate the Light at a distance. Because at a distance only the 2 middle bullets will hit, representing only 20% of the max damage, not considering the damage fall off.

And eliminating a Heavy with 3 taps is almost a dreamlike scenario in game. You have to be really close to deal that much damage with every tap, and forget it if the heavy has the flamethrower, the spear, or the sledge hammer.

@strange ermine Light can benefit the team if they want to. I play with my friend who mains Light, and I can confirm to you, on the days he feels like thinking straight, he can be a heaven for the team, but on the other days, just almost every other Light players, he is bloodthirsty and ranks up those kills only for us to loose. Because why revive me while my statue is in a safe place, when he can engage in a 3 vs 1 for his adrenaline rush he manages it?
I can assure it's a mentality. I've watched my other friend who mained Heavy, and used to stick to my ass to heal him and protect me, completely forgetting I exist as soon as he started playing as a Light. It's unbelievable what that rush does to them.

Completely agree. As the xp54 shined in TA, the SR also shined in TA. If we are gonna start nerfing weapons that are most used, then why not apply the same physics nerfs to all similar weapons? The SR got projectile fall, then why do all ARs shoot straight at any range???? The xp54 was being used in range and got a damage decrease, then do the same to the ARs and any weapons being used more than their 'desired' range. These two weapons as annoying as they were, at least the xp54 gave Ls a chance. Sure, you can argue that m11 with sight is a mini xp54 of the past, but you still go around with the class with least health, being able to die so easily against the arsenal of Ms and Hs.
Also, why do the classes not follow their type? Damage should contrast health. Medium having the best weapons but not the worst health or mobility makes it a no brainer against picking anything else. And instead of giving the slowest class in the game (Heavy) all the movement gadgets, they go ahead and give it to the most powerful class.
Lastly, where is the level 9 skin???

That would only be useful in a world where Lights aren't allergic to being next to their team members or any relevant objectives. So, not this world. You could give Lights a 50% steal speed buff and 90% of them would still be incapable of even trying.
Pretty much what @wind meteor said. Lights are capable of playing in a team, and the gadget/specialization nerfs that people want here would affect Lights just as much as the "meta" they so hate.
With the right weapon buffs/nerfs, a Heavy Mesh, Medium Beam and Light Dash could have easily been the "meta", balancing the three roles. Instead, you nerf the two specializations that a good Light could have played off of and give the advantage to specializations that hardly benefit Lights, or any other team members, at all.

Seriously, I already tried to prioritize my Heavy teammates for heals and defibs before any Lights since they are guaranteed to survive longer and I can heal them more reliably, and that was BEFORE the multiple nerfs the Beam got. The only thing a further Defib or Beam nerf's gonna do is ensure that Lights get further overlooked by their Medium teammates every time.

Right, I had a whole conversation earlier about how selfish the Light class is by virtue of its hit & run playstyle. It simply doesn't work for the stationary objectives in comp. I'm just spitballing ideas to give them any measure of utility in these modes.

@wraith orchid They're not encouraged to use any of these gadgets for the benefit of their team because of how the class is designed. All their utility goes to supporting themselves. Any benefit to the team is collateral to their primary purpose. Stop strawmanning. I'm explaining to you that Light class has a fundamental flaw in its gameplay loop that prevents it from measuring up to Medium and Heavy. You'll never meaningfully improve Light teamplay with the current playstyle it's forced to adopt just to play the damn game.

@wind meteor As you said, your friend is an exception not the rule. A Heavy or Medium is equally capable of reviving someone. The Light class simply lacks as many team support options as Medium and Heavy, and is furthermore discouraged to use them for the benefit of their team due to their fragility in open engagements.

Revert XP damage from 16 back to 18 or at least 17. V9s is literally better in every single aspect now- higher ttk in close to midrange and enough bullets to oneclip at far range. XP is a joke now, you can barely oneclip a stationary heavy at far midrange or a m at long range. And with the new reticle, v9s is even easier to use. Not only is the recoil way easier to control, the visibility is also no longer an issue with the new reticle.

XP was really well balanced before. It was good in every aspect but another weapon on light was always better in at least one of those aspects. Xp lost in close range to Sh, v9s, m11 and in far range against sniper and lh1. Now it's just objectively worse in every aspect compared to weapons that used to be more specialized.

As we can all see, THE FINALS' community is deeply passionate when it comes to concept art and making drip. Earlier this year we saw the switch away from exclusive bundle pricing to individual items now being made available for purchase. This alone allowed a great amount of customisation and personalisation of the game. But @shy token is back this time to argue the case for community driven input.

By allowing the community to create fan-made concepts and outfits using available items, TF has allowed its community to creatively flourish. However, we think, and there are others who have considered this idea as well within the community, that new community made items should be given the chance to be official and in-game.

This would not be the first time that such a thing exists in the world of gaming. Warframe's 'TennoGen' is one of the best examples of having the community be involved in the creative process. This engagement's potential is virtually limitless and invaluable for the game's longevity and community. It can be further sustained by giving the creator(s) a chance to be awarded through a variety of ways, in combination or merely by themselves:
(a) recognition,
(b) in-game or IRL payment,
(c) but most importantly a free (perhaps personalised) version of the very same item that will be immortalised in the world of TF.

Heavy class melee wepon idea - Iron Fists:
-Less damage than sledgehammer
-Faster hit rate than sledgehammer
-Can block bullets (not explosives) when holding rmb (doesn't ricochet them, just eats them up)
-Much worse enviromental destructivity than sledgehammer
-When using these fists and using charge ability, the charge hit damage is increased
-When using fists and doing a slam jump there will be a shockwave stunning enemies nearby (taser stun) and you will destroy much more stuff around you than without the fists.

ALERT: Polemic Opinion

Many say that Attack the Terminal was bad and that it was one of the reasons why the previous season didn't go well and failed to retain players. However, even before the 3rd season, the game was already stagnant with 16K players, according to SteamDB.

In my opinion, Attack the Terminal was a mode that, if supported from the start, could have been a game-changer for The Finals. I say this because it forced the team to play together—there was no revival or healing, and once you were out, you stayed out until the end of the round. Gadgets were limited and strategic, and health consisted of both armor and normal health.

This mode still offered something that the vast majority of players from other games know well, but with The Finals’ own twist. With different classes, impactful gadgets, and gameplay combined with map destruction that completely changes each match, it could have stood out as a strategic and balanced mode.

Unfortunately, modes like this are often disliked by the remaining community, who seem to prefer fast-paced modes like Cashout. While those modes can be fun, they are frustrating for beginners because the playstyle is entirely different, where playing as a team is essential. For new players, the learning curve can be too steep, and the experience becomes more frustrating than rewarding.

In my opinion, Embark should reconsider the direction of the game and listen less to the toxic and loud minority that resists every good change aimed at balancing the game and bringing in new players. They should take inspiration from game modes that already work well in other games, but add their unique touch. With classes, strategic gadgets, and map destruction, The Finals could offer something special, combining the best of both worlds and potentially reviving its player base.

It's understandable that mathematically speaking automatic weapons should excel due to averaging; but 3 seasons of medium meta has me bored if i'm winning.
Really why would you give them multiple of the best weapons and gadgets as well as give them healing beam?
I think medium was the devs starting point/baseline spot during development and they have convinced themselves that if they "mess with" the baseline then they will mess the whole "balance" that the game is built around.
The problem is that relative balance isn't objective balance; thus the meta we still have.
Looking at skewered data due to pick rates will never be the same as playing the game and actually seeing why these pick rates exist.

I gotta say most changes were good, but I despise the sniper CL-40 changes, adding inconsistent bullet drop to a gun which scope has no graduations for referencing is just terrible game feel and design. If you are gonna keep this change at the bare minimum add a rangefinder to the sniper scope view and graduations that correspond to set distances. I dont even play sniper often since I'm a medium main, but taking it out now feels like a total crapshoot and the slow travel time being inconsistent with partial hitscan in a game where people are constantly moving just doesn't work, its basically only useful against players who stand still or trying to hit within the hitscan range. I was even a kraber main gigachad in Titanfall 2, and the way yall balanced this sniper is worse in every way, and in that game kraber was a straight up one shot anywhere on the body. Also CL-40 has become the crutch and troll weapon of choice after that huge buff. Its actually kinda nuts that it does MORE damage than the RPG with greatly reduced self damage. Like seriously, my friends and I got on a couple games with all CL-40s to see how bad it is and the other teams literally just ragequit after 2 minutes, I felt kinda bad lol. But it is so nuts at this point its gonna need a total rework if we can only swing it between totally useless to crazy OP. The amount of people using CL as a close range weapon and shooting literally a few feet in front of them is awful and goes against how GLs are supposed to work in games. Coupled with the fact teammates take no damage from your explosives only compounds this problem, and should honestly be looked at as a balancing option.

I'd like to see some variance in playable comps. Biggest problem is the STILL ridiculously overpowered defib. Also the sniper nerf is very stupid when pike barely has any dmg falloff. You actually lose to pike most of the time even on long range because of the bullet drop. It's just stupid matchup.

i dont think terminal attack was a bad mode, but it was fundamentelly completely different from what the finals was trying to be. i also wouldnt say terminal attack is a good casual mode or good for new players. in fact, i'd say the opposite. if you are new to the game, chances are, you have no idea what you are doing, die immediately and then spend the rest of the round in spectator mode. Even outside of here, i've heard many people complain about terminal attack being the default ranked mode, or having to play a number of terminal attack rounds. It was an experiment, it didnt work out, and that is fine. terminal attack would need to be balanced separately from the "normal" modes, certain gadgets and weapons were completely busted, while being fine in other modes.

reconsidering the direction of the game and adding well known modes would basically mean to turn it into a generic shooter. i dont want that. i want them to keep and embrace the new, fast paced modes with lots of chaos. Adding other modes is fine, but it shouldnt be on the cost of the cashout modes. A 5v5v5 or 5v5 cashout mode for example might work.

Also, people need to stop focusing so much on steam player data. We all know the game is not a behemoth like apex or csgo, but 10-20k simulateneous players around the clock isnt bad. Not to mention we have no data whatsoever on other platforms

The problem with the mode wasn’t its gameplay but its concept. TA took way too many aspects from games like Tf2 and CSGO and attempted to sloppily port them into a game with much more open maps, completely different movement mechanics, and completely different weapons. In theory it should have been fine but in practice TA created a ton of balancing issues. From the snipers being overpowered, to the mediums and heavies being significantly nerfed. They had to remove like 30% of the games primary gadgets to even make it work on paper. The need a 5v5 mode uniquely the finals, power shift is kind of that but once again it’s a tried and true gamemode that has existed since TF2. So I think the finals physically can’t copy anything about other games. They have to make completely unique modes because their game is so different from anything available on the market. A capture the flag mode but with cash would be an excellent example of that, or maybe a TDM mode that adds extra content and features. TA is a mode that belongs in tactical shooters like rainbow six and CoD. But has no place in a fast paced arcade shooter like the finals. That’s why it was hated. It attempted to change everything that everyone had loved about the game up till now. From the pacing to the metas it failed to entice players. And even lost embark a ton of concurrent players.

Change matchmaking for solo players. (ranked)

I'm pleased with all the changes this season, thank you!

However, the matchmaking has been broken since Season 2. In Season 3, I hardly played ranked because it was TA, which I detest. I thought you were improving matchmaking for Season 4, but the issue continues.

My matchups make no sense, neither in rank nor in dedication, which is clear when I compare my kills and revives with my teammates. Meanwhile, the other teams have players who should be matched with me, but I'm facing them instead.

I’m speaking as a solo player. When can we expect improvements in matchmaking for solo players? It's frustrating we've been stuck like this since Season 2.

Note 1: I've had teammates say in chat they were playing ranked for "fun," as if it’s quick play. This is a bad joke.

Note 2: I don’t mind waiting longer to find a game if it improves the experience. I’d prefer waiting more than 2 minutes than 10 seconds for a team with zero skill.

Note 3: Don’t use the excuse of not changing matchmaking mid-season when you make buffs and nerfs to weapons, gadgets, etc. These also affect gameplay during the season. You’ve had enough time to address it.

Use other game modes for testing.

After 4 seasons, it’s clear you don’t fully understand the impact of the changes you make regarding buffs, nerfs, or introducing new items.

Please, before changing anything and making us testers, use non-competitive modes for balancing tests.

Utilize World Tour, Quick Play... for your balancing tests and new items.

Model CL40 and Pike are running rampant rn in high elo, light is basically unplayable unless you play absolutely perfect while trip med can brainlessly out damage + heal every team, 1 shot from CL or Model and 1 shot from Pike is instant kill on light, even sword can't compete with their damage.

Edit: it doesn't make sense that the strongest class in the game also has the best weapons, it would make sense if mediums weapons were under performing to make up for 250 hp, heal beam and fastest movement when running 3x double movement

Invisibility has 3 charges, each one lasting 5 seconds of invisibility, after that amount time you become visible for like 2 seconds before being able to use a charge again

The game stayed stagnant at 16k players through s3 despite most everyone I knew who played previously quitting. POWER SHIFT must have an overhaul. It can't be that in one out of three games you end up joining a losing team in the last few meters before the opponents win or you end up in a 2v5 because everyone is leaving.

At this point it's rare that i have a fight that just ends with both teams having the full player count and the mode is being finished like i was meant to by the developers.

This is just not enjoyable.

My win/rate is screwed beyond repair because no matter how good i play, the mid-matchmaking or the rage quitters will tear it down.

@craggy basin KS-23's are created from defunct anti-aircraft gun barrels. They're rifled, unlike shotguns which are smoothbore. Thus making them carbine rifles by definition.

CL-40 spam is not funny anymore (and I mained CL-40 S1 and S2, now you made me hate the damn thing), I hope you fix it patch tommorow, or it is time for another break from me. Why can't you just make it what it used to be, before nerfing it? It's ok to admit you were wrong to temper with it in the first place, and besides, clearly that change was made for TA in the first place, kinda irrelevant now. Pike is nuts too, overtuned imo, also the Light shotty seems a tad too crazy... But It's nice to see additions of good guns, but they need some tweaking as they are now. Also CL-40 self damage is bugged? The splash has always been pretty random if ti registers or not, but people just run at you and spam you to death at melee range now, it's ridiculous... RPG self damage needs to be toned down now imo too. Stungun redesign, still waiting for it too, one of the least fun things in the game. Also explosion stacking damage reduction needs a new review, is it necessary to be that strong anymore? I have seen Lights walk over two expl mines surviving...

There desperately needs to be a metric to award more points for moving the cashout and providing actual tactical/strategical support. Its entirely possible to carry the entire time with 0 kills and a few deaths, purely by controlling the objective area the entire time. And there needs to be a way to reward and showcase that off better. This isn't COD.

First warm-up round of the day (P= Light / L= Heavy). I was playing Heavy with the following loadout: WC/Iron Sights M60/Pyro mines/Motion detector/Goo grenades. Orange 3M stack won with the usual strat: constant defib train, CL40 gatekeeping cashouts from above while guarded by his two AKM team mates (luckily, not Pikes). The only possible counter to this is to wipe them all, because if you only kill 2/3 and cannot prevent their revives, they'll be back to 3 within 5 seconds. Their aim was pretty atrocious and I managed to kill 2/3 on my own several times, but that wasn't enough still.

Honestly Embark, kill this zombie meta quickly.

I feel this so hard! I’ve had team mates that are objectively awful at the game from a positioning and decision-making standpoint flame the shit out of me in chat for having less kills than them, despite making the plays that get us to the next round etc. Blows my mind that people think kills = performance @wispy sand totally agree - even just staying alive near the cash out towards the end of the timer (especially when you’re defending) massively increases your chances of winning, but this requires playing passive and being evasive / only poking the enemy as much as needed to keep them off of the cash out. So many players just chase kills and die for it rather than playing smart

well yes, they added in so many different archetypes from many different games, all having different uses and situations for them to thrive and succeed. to where when you introduce different game modes like cashout or bank it. the meta inside those games shifts differently than the other. not to mention that lights are supposed to be the archetypes of being a keep-away zoner/rushdown/unorthodox character. medium being an all-rounder/stance/trap zoner/footsie character. heavy being a grappler/big body/trap zoner/unorthodox character. with S4 update, medium can now be a zoner character as well as being a stance and or footsie character. which is why people are a bit angry about pike and the cl40. heavy is now not an effective grappler character, however they made him into an all-rounder character. which is why I'm mad that they took away my playstyle with heavy. light now has a more effective way to deal damage as a rushdown character. however, they still don't have the health to sustain themselves when they get caught out. And it's not that light sucks but because of how he is designed with his archetypes working together. cloak & stun gun had to be nerfed because of how rushdown worked really well with the unorthodox playstyle back in S2. yet even when they fixed the issues with the class by nerfing that unorthodox playstyle into the ground, to this day the class cant be used in competitive because of the archetypes the class is meant to represent. they can only play keep away & rush down, something completely opposite in the standard cashout gamemode about defending and holding a point. It was pretty obvious why light was considered weak in gamemodes like cashout. however, they had potential in gamemodes like bank it, terminal attack, or powershift. where movement and kills mattered.

I randomly spawn in front of a cashout the moment a team WITH cashbox arrives thus get blown away the moment i spawn.

And when i coin to defend my cashout against a third/fourth party at that point i spawn 150 METERS AWAY with only 15 seconds left and they got it.

The SPAWNS are completely whack since halfway third season. Idk what was changed but it makes this whole game 75% luck-based and it's disturbing.

Idk I can’t agree with the light being underpowered. I love playing light it just happens to be one of the more difficult classes to get right. Medium is the ā€œall rounderā€ and the general go to for classic battlefield 4 type playstyle which is fine, it could use some nerfs on the latest buffs they added but overall I find it balanced (besides that useless turret needs to die). But light class is just much more nuanced. You have to be confident in every movement you make and you have to be constantly aware of everyone and everything going on around you in order to capitalize on what makes it strong. If you couldn’t play medium in a 1v3 then light just isn’t the class for you. I can agree they need more team focused abilities, but a good light can save your game. I personally run heal beam as a main so I can’t speak too much on the high level ranked play for lights but I can say with practice and patience I think a light teammate can be as valuable if not more valuable then a heavy. And idk what you’re talking about heavy getting changed, from my experience he grapples all the same and has more power now due to the deagles and red dot on the m60

I second this, spawns should be balanced more as to not punish team wipes so badly among other things. Many times holding the cashout only for it to be stolen last second and to spawn too far to contest it. Maybe adjust spawns and timers if it is the last cashout of the match or if the cashout will end the match for more steal opportunities. Idk how to fix but certainly doesn't feel good in the flow of gameplay when it happens, seems it could be better.

Also add match highlights or play of the game cam to the end of matches, make the closing of matches feel more like the game show the game makes itself out to be.

Honestly this might be insanely controversial but make ranked role queue. Leave other modes freely able to bring multiple of the same class, but make ranked role based. The meta should be defined within what players choose to synergize as gadgets across multiple classes rather than just spamming heal beam defib with the strong weapon on medium that season. If this game is willing to experiment to the point that it brang a completely new mode into ranked for a whole season. Try role queue. AT LEAST for 1 season. The creativity of having stackable classes is an ideal scenario, but if you have a situation where that class has a very strong gadget you can stack and make it very very frustrating for all players to play against, then you need to fit different classes forcibly. Please please please for the love of god try role queue next season.

TLDR: Make ranked role queue (LMH only, no stackable classes), Do not touch other modes (like world tour) so people are still allowed to express class variety in that mode.

As a very good riot shield player, I disagree with two suggested changes, I believe increasing the shield coverage to the feet or allowing riot shields to crouch with the shield raised is a terrible idea which would fundamentally alter the play style of the shield to be less fun for both the user and enemies (which already don't find it to be a fun weapon to fight) as it encourages a more defensive and "Hunker down" play style of the shield instead of the more fun and aggressive play style which it has now.

I do however agree with two other suggested changes, if the shield when raised more reliably blocked melee attacks it'd add a sort of block and strike timing check to the riot shield and melee enemies making melee fights with it feel considerably more dynamic and engaging, while pyro nades sticking to riot shields creates more than it's fair share of friendly fire eliminations and is still to this day the single most sour interaction in the game bar none so pyro nades not sticking to riot shields is probably a change for the best.

The Riot Shield is in a very particular and curious position where it as a weapon needs to be balanced with how engaging and fun it is to both play and fight against kept in mind, which is why after the +6 damage buff I do believe it's in a good place overall.

Imo the team that gets wiped after the first battle should have a longer respawn timer and should ALWAYS spawn in the middle of both cashouts.

I ain't saying the class isn't underpowered, just underutilized in certain gamemodes. and I was making a point to how the archetypes of lights gadgets/weapons/specialization tend to blend badly if unchecked. if you have a team filled with lights going in a game of cashout, then you wouldn't achieve that much on your own, other than relying on the chaos of the match to make certain plays. light benefits a lot from being around a team that can play defensively in cashout(again relying on the chaos of the match.) however, that makes the class dependent on the team to achieve a common goal. heavy and medium can be independent of the team to still be good in cashout. I'm just saying the gamemodes need to make light have a moment to shine independently. also, they nerfed the gadgets to be less reliable for heavy. they balanced ranged heavy but nerfed melee in the process. because of this, melee and short-range weapons are not viable in competitive and struggle a lot against a player who knows what they are doing. you can't do much damage with the RPG in medium-ranged combat to attempt trying to close in on them to kill them. you can't rely on bunkering to avoid the damage from afar now. melee heavy now relies on tight buildings to make the playstyle work, something smart players can play around. range heavy doesn't have a problem with any of this. they definitely nerfed it, it's way more easier to play ranged than melee because of them buffing the ranged weapons and nerfing gadgets, something melee heavy uses along with their weapon. Any sort of specialization/gadget that can be good for melee, can be better with range.

Nerf CL-40’s player damage (to make it less oppressive, though damage should still be a bit higher than pre nerf, just not enough to 2 shot lights on its own) and increase its self damage so it 2-3 shots you if you hit yourself with it (this makes poor positioning more punishing because a weapon that needs no tracking skill should take some positioning skill), but in return give it increased environmental damage (walls, turrets, basically anything that isn’t a player), increased launch distance (so you can use it as a movement tool at the cost of hp as well as a get off me tool to support your team), and change scoped fire so that it launches a sticky grenade that sticks on a surface and either detonates after a set amount of time or is detonated on reload, whichever comes first. All of these changes would make the CL-40 a more team fight support focused weapon by trading combat effectiveness for utility. It would need to rely on team support to get kills/assists and use its increased knockback to disrupt enemies.

game has crashed the exact same way for me 6 times since 3.14 (patch prior to season 4, the same time everyone lost 20%+ of their performance) where the map will just despawn and I'll be stuck in place for a couple seconds (enough time to chat to my team to tell them my game is gonna crash) and then CTD, and I've crashed probably less than that since launch (not including crashes when launching the game)

Cl40 kinda really extremely annoying to fight against

Edit: I know this is a common complaint but seriously. Yes, 4 rounds is a nice balance but it easily outdoes everything else. Melee has to get close. Cl40 shuts that down. Every other weapon needs good aim. Cl40 does not. Just hit near them and you can kill them absurdly easily. It's really annoying to play well but be shut down because I can't out dps a grenade launcher that's better than everything else. Personally, I suggest lowering blast radius or just simply lowering the damage. It's quite infuriating to have the cl40 be the only thing I can't really counter. All other weapons, I can counter. I can kill a melee before it gets too close or out maneuver it. Even with the dual d50s and the pike, 2 also annoying weapons, can be countered by having better aim or dodging. The cl40 does not have these weaknesses. Please need it. Thank you.

Movement right now is fine but unsatisfying because speed is near constant. You accelerate from still to top speed so fast it feels like there’s no momentum whatsoever, and you instantly lose any momentum gained beyond to speed after a single slide. So, top speed should be increased as well as standardized on all classes, so a heavy will have the same top speed as a light. To offset this, each class has a different acceleration speed, with light getting to speed the fastest and heavy the slowest. Acceleration will still be slower than pre rework though. Momentum gained from jump pads and other movement gadgets will also be decreased, but they will be influenced more by your current momentum, so running full speed into a jump pad will send you much further than walking into it. Ziplines will also inherit some of your momentum rather than removing all of it, with downward ziplines giving a bit of momentum, and upward ones taking some. Things like sliding down a slope would grant momentum as well. When just running normally though momentum slowly decreases down to a minimum. All of this would create a more fluid movement system that rewards players with better movement skills with more speed and makes the movement more fun

Light:
Light needs more team utility. Srsly. It’s not enough. I don’t mean necessarily active but at least more passive utility like the breaching charge and the sonar. It’s the most picked class because most ppl don’t want to bother working with a team. But it can’t be that light is a kill only class. If it is, it’s pretty bad at it in comparison.

Medium:
Medium needs a big nerf. Pike is too strong, APS too weak and the AOE range of the CL-40 to wide.
Defib is hilariously overpowered, especially in mid combat situations. It needs either a nerf or a complete rework. The medium in general is too versatile in its weapon variety with no downsides. Either you have to nerf some of the weapons or remove them from the medium. It’s annoying how obvious the choice is for balanced out gameplay.

Heavy:
The Heavy is good. Srsly. It’s completely fine in my opinion. If someone thinks that it needs some minor buffs or nerfs - fine - but nothing major. The problem with the class does not lay in the class itself but in the comparison with the other classes.

Maps:
The maps are all fine, I don’t know what everyone has. Maybe they got some bugs that need fixing but the overlay in general is good.

General:
The game crashes way too often. The ground just disappears, etc.
It can’t be that someone gets an hour competitive ban because the game crashes every time during a ranked game and needs to be restarted. That’s on you, not on them.

What is this destruction? Turn it down a notch. These are buildings mate out of concrete and not styrofoam. The destruction before was fine but now it just feels like rng.

Can someone mention the bird pet? It is so ugly and I don’t get why. It looks like you clued a Bad Resolution 2d sprite on a Bad 3d polygony Bird Model. All pets look amazing and this one looks like garbage. Why?

I get that you can’t patch out the anime skin from season 3 now but pls - for gods sake - never do something like that again. It doesn’t fit into the game.

The way points is earned is odd. It's unclear if it's based on performance, winning, or play time. I can lose a match and get 160vr but then win a match and only get 80vr. There should be a bonus for winning matches as well as with how well you do. It's really underwhelming to win a game and get half what I get for losing.

Yeah. Just anecdotal but my experience has been cases like this: I was defending a cash out on vegas and I coined right as my other teammates died and it spawned me like 40m from the other cashout - 160m+ from the cashout I was defending

As someone who dislikes long range weapons already, this is killing my like of pursuing the contracts. I average about 17 to 20 kills a game normally. I'm now stuck on the other side of the map, plinking away and hoping, barely getting 3 kills a match (like I said, I'm bad with range weapons at extreme distances, and 50 is FAR compared to where I normally play).

NGL, Tripple defib is kinda insane to play against. For example V these guys had more revives than kills and won the finale thanks to that.
And i see this comment being made from time to time so it's not just me. The tripple medium meta is not fun imo, even though i've played it myself the whole emerald grind last season. Minimal 8/12 players are medium EACH match.

A solution would be to either limit max defibs to 2 per team or when a defib is used the whole team gets a shared CD of 20 secs. Or when you get rezzed with defib you can't use any gadgets for a certain amount of time or w/e. So many options. But that's just my humble opinion.

While I would suggest re-buffing the APS, this would just bring back the same old issue where APS was a MUST pick in Powershift and Terminal Attack to get wins and so I think the CL40 would just suit the Gadgets category more than being a main handle weapon.

This would put it more in line with the RPG and offer Medium a breaching tool that isn't a Specialization, something that Heavy and Light have several options for.

(Additionally, Medium is having both an identity crisis & a Meta issue.
The description paints a picture of Medium being a support role with scans, but has No Scans and the current competitive meta promotes Triple or Double Medium using CL40 and Pike leaving the choices of Multiple Heavies or any Lights as a major gamble for most teams, instead of promoting players to pick more variety and play other roles.
Simply doesn't align with-and misinforms players who actually read the description).

If this doesn't align with your experiences playing the game, that's fine. I don't want to convince other players that "im right", I just want to offer solutions to the ONE THING I see the most people talking about without completely removing or nerfing the hell out of these things.
I'd rather see a ton of Buffs and reworks in Patch Notes than the Removal or direct Power Nerfs to things that are intentionally strong.

Honestly this might be insanely controversial but make ranked role queue. Leave other modes freely able to bring multiple of the same class, but make ranked role based. The meta should be defined within what players choose to synergize as gadgets across multiple classes rather than just spamming heal beam defib with the strong weapon on medium that season. If this game is willing to experiment to the point that it brang a completely new mode into ranked for a whole season. Try role queue. AT LEAST for 1 season. The creativity of having stackable classes is an ideal scenario, but if you have a situation where that class has a very strong gadget you can stack and make it very very frustrating for all players to play against, then you need to fit different classes forcibly. Please please please for the love of god try role queue next season.

TLDR: Make ranked role queue (LMH only, no stackable classes), Do not touch other modes (like world tour) so people are still allowed to express class variety in that mode.

Suggestion: Please give a visual indicator as to when a defibrillated enemy can be damaged. I hate firing a shotgun shot and then dealing zero damage even after the enemy has exploded out of the electro-foam. I suggest keeping the electro-foam on the enemy until the enemy can actually be damaged. I have been cheesed too many times by defib revives, and it's never fun. If I see an enemy running and jumping, that enemy should be susceptible to be damage.

Really hoping the model doesn’t just get a spread nerf. That’s not the issue with the weapon. Nerf it’s damage to 100 and buff the spread to compensate which will keep the ranged performance the same as it is now.

Medium is the only class that doesn’t have to change anything besides a primary weapon to be super strong in close range. Which means you can have full support build to make your team incredibly difficult to push and then enemies aren’t even rewarded for closing the gap.

Coming from a M main in S4 who already level 6'd the pike... (SoloQ, R-G3, WT-P3) M has best guns, gadgets, and debatably the best specialization... I think it would balance the class if it didn't have movement and it was given to light as a logistics specialist (it is suppose to focus on mobility right?) I guess I don't understand why a support class has the most movement and best weapons? I think if the jump pad and zip were traded to Light for recon grenade and tracking dart , those would make more sense in a support role (information gatherer). I'd rather have the M movement restricted than have its guns and utilities continuously nerfed. As for the defib being a specialization, there is no place in this game for a 3M stack running around defib and beaming each other... no one likes it. It's toxic cheese. Pick one or the other and add some skill to the chicken run...

I’d say the current game balance is relatively fair, really only a couple changes I’d reccomend:
buff bow body damage a bit, I feel it’s a bit too weak to hold with other weapons
93r sight and slight reduction to recoil? (Either that or add a couple more rounds in it; I feel that in most areas I could use a 93r either the recoil makes headshots unlikely or the smg would do better due to more damage and more mag, could be a skill issue tho lol)

Slight model damage nerf (I just think it’s a bit to consistent on the damage for a shotty, a very small nerf to damage that otherwise wouldn’t change ttk would help opposing players in 1v2 situations or approaching slightly damaged and getting heavily punished for it)
Slight spear swing speed buff (both the light and heavy attacks, the slight dps change will help it compete with range weapons up close)

The new season feels great, with mostly everything being viable to build on! Keep cooking, embark! (Also let’s be real guys the cl40 isn’t that bad, as a light main I’ve been able to kill em kinda consistently, just get really close or out dps them from range, it’s the middle ground that’s the killer)

I am not sure if this is the place to type this out but i have a few fun idea for the game so starting off with the heavy I think a harpoon gun that does knock back and has the potential to pin enemies against walls depending on how close they are to the wall, a crossbow with a magazine for the medium that would be silent mid to close range projectile, and a slingshot that has a laser on it but when you get head shots with the sling shot it slightly concusses the enemy. Also a laser gun prolly for the medium that if you can catch players or items on fire depending on how long the beam is hitting the target and a Tesla gun for the heavy something similar to the flame thrower but it chains enemies the catch would be the damage falls off each time it chains

The S4 patch and especially the dev notes have deteriorated my faith in the balance team. The notes for the buff were so indicative that whoever wrote them knew how biased and over tuned it would be.

"this change sounds significant" [but...] "we thought it was unfair to the cl-40..." (that they had to hit their AOE shots to kill the tanks)

Like nice job cracking the simple math for those break points, I guess? But that justification misses so much of what actually happens when the CL-40 is up in the meta. Lobbies filled with explosive spam, Mines, frags, and barrels get triggered by the explosions. Audio feedback is taken over by cl-40 thunks. Whole teams running cl-40 with heal beams and defibs make it to the final round all the time..

The conversation from the devs is always about light and heavy. The way the games go is always about what medium is doing. Heavy gets wins because they're the best target for heals and defibs due to health pools, but heavy gets the nerfs. The notes call out light as the most losing class, but the cl-40 buff fucks over lights more than anything. The contradictions just make doubt the competence of the balance team. They need to actually play often or have better responses to feedback. This graphs and math approach really misses the situational realities of the game. To the point where it feels like one biased person near the top is pushing for changes that satisfy them rather than make the game more fun.

In Season 3 the LH1 buff to 51 damage got instant reverted, but Pike does 59 damage, while Medium having also more health. Make it make sense!

Also the higher firerate of LH1 isn't practical because of the recoil. if you want to hit your shots and it takes more skill with your trigger finger, while the Pike can be spammed accurately.

Btw who thought AKIMBO Deagles should be midrange oppressive? While 93R sucks after 5 meters...

I have an idea for a new gadget: a throwable device designed to clear gas, smoke, or fire. Players could use this to have an opportunity to safely access the vault and cash out, instead of having to wait around when the cashout vault is on fire, gas, or smoke.

The elements already have a rock paper scissors thing going on. They all cancel each other out. I’m pretty sure smoke is the only one that doesn’t have a direct counter but it doesn’t directly damage you either so it’s fine as is.

-specializations are the most important part of balancing bc they have a major impact on the pace and fun of the game. they should be balanced in their own category because of that.

nerfing specs is the worst thing you can do balance wise, because it always messes with the pace of the game, which was in my opinion better in season 1/2. almost every spec nerf/change led to quicker, and more on raw weapon combat focused fights, and always took away a tiny part of the games caracteristic. domeshield nerf; dash nerf; heal nerf; cloak nerf; all of these had a major impact on the value of specs in generall. but we need to understand, that, compared to gadgets and weapons, the specs NEED to have the most value/impact on the games balance and pace bc IT IS the MOST ICONIC AND UNIQUE part of the game, besides the destruction, which is not a part of balancing. so i suggest to buff specs, and balance them on a high value level.

World Tour Proposal

As the Ranked mode is now in Cashout, the current World Tour doesn't in any way differentiate from Ranked, making it kind of a double-ranked system and suggesting time-costly grinds.

The World Tour should be something different, say for example let's have rotating modes. Maybe the first week there's Cashout, the second is Power Shift, then Bank It, Terminal Attack and so on.

This will give the World Tour a great, unique experience without much work for the devs, as just taking existing gamemodes improves the experience pretty much šŸ¤”

light is and will allways be the most played class bc it is the fastest most mobile and thereby most fun class to play. Yes, it is as easy as that.

Dagger Wishlist:

-You shouldnt be able to climb while charging the dagger, i try so often to backsab someone above me but instead of jumping and stabbing, it tries to climb and my charge gets canceled (VERY IMPORTANT THIS WAS NOT ABLE TO HAPPEN LAST SEASON SO I ASSUME YOU JUST FORGOTT TO PROGRAM IT RIGHT)
-Option to hold and tap backstab like with the throwing knifes
-Always being able to run as last season
-Add a visual indicator of when the backstab is charged
-Remove the audio indicator cus it sounds terrible and you cant hear it mid fight at all.
REVERT THE DASH COOLDOWN NERF

Sniper Wishlist:
raise hitscan range or reverg the nerf completely and just ban the weapon from powershift.

Light Wishlist:
Balance it so that it can make up for the less hp. While burst weapons can benefit from hit and run, you are allways as vulnerable as the m/h/l enemy when using machineguns/pistols

P.S.: PLEASE DO NOT START TO BUFF DAMAGE OF ALL WEAPONS TO LOWER THE OVERALL TTK. THE TTK IS ALREADY TO LOW ON SOME WEAPONS SO PLLLLLS STOP AND RATHER NERF DAMAGE THAN BUFF

I deleted the answer because the discord app is being screwy and telling me my messages aren’t sending. I said:

fire gets rid of gas and smoke gets rid of fire.

If I need to get rid of gas, I usually throw a pyro grenade at the ceiling or wall so that it won’t burn anywhere I may need to walk.

Another interesting piece of information that I came across is, apparently if you throw smoke into gas, it protects the gas from fire. I haven’t personally confirmed this but, I’d be inclined to believe it.

The heavy charge m slam immediately does maximum damage even if heavy start right in front of and almost no visual warning out of nowhere,it’s completely unbalanced,add the grunt audio right before it activates not in the middle of charge n slam,it should half damage for charge and more knock back when it start and maximum damage at the slam.

I've always enjoyed the idea of a healing bomb for Lights specifically. "Lights struggle with team utility" is a common position, and while giving a blatant support ability to Light is iffy in terms of class identity, it'd be a great bit of self-sustain that would answer common requests to buff Light HP, and it could easily serve as a team utility gadget if it had AOE healing capabilities. It can either be a small heal or a larger one with long cooldown, but it would help address many common complains Lights have about their viability, as well as help Mediums and Heavies who hate dealing with solo-roaming Lights who are allergic to teamplay.
