that's why, by default, you have 3 classes unlocked, so you'd never be locked out

Ranked solo Q Light player here, around mid Gold right now:
- Light and Heavy actually feel fairly balanced. They're not weak, but may feel "weak" because Mediums are that much more versatile, high DPS, and have high team utility
- no FPS game should have cross-map wall hacks as an ability. It's that simple. Lion from Siege, Bloodhound/Seer from Apex, UAV/AdvancedUAV/Sonar in CoD - none of these game's "wall hack" abilities are close to as strong and uncounterable as Recon Sense. As veteran BF devs, the decision to leave Recon Sense as it is is disappointing to say the least. I wish we can have some communication regarding this specific ability.
- FCAR has a bit too manageable of a recoil and a bit too high damage. Compared to the XP from Light, it has just a little less DPS power, on a class with 100 more HP
- 3x Medium running 3x Defib is akin to fighting 3v6 in any given team fight (more w/ Turret @ 200 HP). You need to take down not one, not two, but all three Mediums to guarantee a number's advantage. Not even Mercy when she was most strong with her Ultimate buff (she could rez 3-4 players in rapid succession) felt this overbearing. At least you only needed to kill one Mercy, not three.
- Turrets should be disabled when a Med dies
- RPG/Nuke nerfs feel good. You still die to them, but you are seeing it significantly less even as Light in Ranked.
- Light could use more team utility; in a team game like The Finals, being DPS-only feels a bit awkward. Glitch Grenade requires a coordinated 3-stack to take full advantage of. I'm not even asking for anything super strong, just give Light another gadget that offers more team utility other than "click left mouse button and aim for the head"
Overall, this game is super fun! It is very addicting, and I've dropped almost 100 hours on it so far. I think some tweaks would make this game not just fulfilling for casual players (which I think it's in a good spot with) but also sweaty ranked players
The cloak is bad because med is just overtuned and light has 150 hp, otherwise if you put cloak on med with 250 hp people would be losing their minds worse than they are over recon.
But than you run into the problem where people want light buffed in various ways since it's not bring played, but if light is buffed invis needs to be nerfed, and so invis is so gimmicky that if it's ever better than evasive dash or grapple, itll just hold back light, yet it doesnt provide the same skill expression that a dash or grapple does, like you cant simply counter a dash by being better at the game and more aware of your surroundings, which will make invis utterly useless and just a pub stomping ability. And broken is actually not a term meant for over powered stuff but rather things that are game breaking like something that either consumes the meta for a particular class inna game or is so trash it never sees use, so while it's not op, it may be broken.

The cloak ability is actually fine right now and will be fine after the recon nerf(if ever happens).
Its an ability that helps a light player survive and escape from people, but it isnt just press Q to escape.
The cloak ability can be seen easily if the person who is using it moves. The thing is - its use is to make others loose focus from him for like 2-5 seconds so light would hide/get back to team.
It is not broken ability or an op ability- there are a lot of things that can detect light besides a player with open eyes.
P.S. plus the sound the cloak makes when in use is sooo frikin loud that sometimes I cant even hear me shooting cause of some light runnin around doin a fucked up helicopter noise.

Light needs more regen
The only thing you can do as Light is to charge in a fight, kill or chip the enemies, then get out. But due to Light's very low hp and the amount of util that gets thrown randomly around in a fight (bombs, fire, poison, mines, turrets), you essentially have to play perfect in order to give value to your team. So getting back into the fight faster to prevent it from being a 2v3 would make Light more playable.
Light also offers no team util except for Glitch Nades.

Think about the inverse tho, imagine if the game was entirely made up of sword players and someone brings a gun in, I'm sure the guy with the gun will have a much better advantage as they mow everyone down. And people would lose their minds simply because it's something different killing them, like you have the advantage in that engagement and you lost, I mean I'm sure you've also killed tons of sword users in your time playing and you just dont think about it, and you also die a hundred times to people that beam you in the head with a sniper or blast you in 1 shot with a shotgun too, but because it's more common you just go on with your day but the sword player comes in and gets you with this aggressive unique playstyle so you pay more attention to that death and get more salty about it than that fscar guy that killed you 10 times because they had better aim lol

Quick marketing tip, the battle pass should be 1100, not 1150. Player has 50 left over, make nothing in the game cost 50. 75 at a minimum. Make the lowest pack of multibucks have 50, e.g 450. Players will buy a pack of 450 so they can use the extra 50 from the initial purchase, or it feels like a waste.

Yeah, the idols to respawn people can be lit on fire to do that. Fairly certain that's intended since it's been that way since launch. It just caught on fire since you were in fire where you died, like carying a fire/poison barrel after it's damaged (or other props on fire).

In isolated instances where you face light occasionally like in ranked it's fine and with recon you really rarely see it but when an entire lobby is all invis it's just insufferable, I honestly prefer facing tripple defib with heal beam lol
So if it became meta, I would just hate my life in this game I think, but that could also just be a problem with letting anyone pick what they want but i dont wanna see this game implement a role queue, I rather them just remove or rework the few abilities that suck when stacked and invis will prob always suck when stacked same with recon, while I can see defib and heal beam being limited in ways that prevent stacking.

3 turrets + mines is basically ana additional team
3 mesh shields + 3 doom shields is basically undestroyable unless glitched
3 healing beams + 3 defs is basically a team of 6 people
3 charge n slam mean there will be no map and chaos will rule
3 goo guns mean there will be no movement for any1
3 grapples + 3 snipers is just annoying
3 dash + swords = annoying to play against but this is weaker then the rest on this list
3 invis + stun guns is also super annoying to play against but is weaker then some other on this list
3 recon = gods.
I'd love to see a 1v1 gameode, or even 1v1v1 to play against your party members

Yes and most those examples make the game fun, like 3 charge and slam heavys is what we should want because it really brings out what's special in this game, but stuff like tripple recon or tripple invis change the game to drastically, like with recon you no longer wanna really move much, you just wanna take it slow and always try to be quicker on the draw than people that literally see your every move, it like actively discourages the fast pace destructive nature of the game, or invis also turns the game from a shooter to a horror game 😂 I'm just again walking around checking everything corner, and scared to really blow up a house because blowing up a house causes chaos and who thrives in chaos? Tons of invisible players so as heavys me and my friend didnt wanna koolaid man through any walls that game, we just sat in our shields and gunned them all down as they were all to scared to push us and we were scared to move incase we got pushed by 3 or 4 Invisible targets at once, it legit was the most boring match I had ever had in my entire time playing the finals so far.
And another point is most stuff that's stacked is easy to counter like turrets is shut down by a single glitch nade, or if you toss some normal nades or c4 onna barrel into the room it just shuts them all down and actually encourages you to destroy the map to beat them, and 3 goo guns also plays into the theme of the game still. So most stuff when stacked isnt bad I dont think and even is more times then not the reason the games fun
I think the devs gotta ask themselves what they want the identity of the game to be and really focus in on that stuff and personally since the literal biggest achievement of this game is that they managed to make real destruction, I think they should make sure the abilities that would encourage the fast pace destruction are always more popular.

Custom lobbies and the ability to create maps would allow for this game to reach new levels of heights. Allowing for the communitues to use the destruction bases of the game to create mini games/custom maps/ custom game modes would be 10/10

I didn’t understand why everyone was mad about recon until I started playing a bit more and was being pre-fired at behind walls as I come around them because someone’s using recon I definitely think that it needs to be Nerf distance, wise kind of like how bloodhounds ultimate is in Apex. The light class I think is pretty well balanced I don’t normally play them, but their abilities are fairly good. I do think that they need to either take out like grapple and add ability that’s more team, based or even gadgets that are more team based because sometimes I’d like to play as a light, but I feel that I’m not helping the team at all. With that being said, I hope they Nerf, the cloaking a little bit where you use more of the ability up when you first hit it and it doesn’t come back as fast or have a a cool down after hitting it so instead, lights aren’t just popping it And shooting you and then running behind a corner as you chased them and popping it again, standing still, and just stunning you going behind you and killing you other than that, I think the lights are well balanced. Also they need to something about zens cause if you play the game with one and think you are good at the game you’re really not

Light is the teams flank, your goal should be to buzz around your team and strike targets they get into fights with, that's their team utility is being able to quickly take offangles and strike from difficult angles at inconvenient times to your enemy, it's why lowkey the throwing knifes are one of lights best weps, you just wanna hit big bursts of dmg to weaken as many targets as possible for your team and since you can easily land shots with the daggers while mid dash it allows you to be hyper nimble while hitting alot of players, ofc they suck inna 1v1 so most dont use them and say theyre trash but when used to benefit your team they actually are quite great.
Well if everything is good that’s great but that makes annoying things more prominent and if everything good is nerfed then we have destiny 2. I think having a meta isn’t a bad thing

The problem this games facing rn has been faced by almost every comp shooter game to have ever existed, and they always end up ruining the vision due to an inability to accept they sometimes do have to outright remove certain things and in some cases they remove the wrong things and completely screw over their game to maintain something tiny like overwatch changing the entire format of their game instead of reworking a single hero, and then they reworked that hero anyway after changing the entire format lol

I trust Embark will buff recon and make recon great again
- Light needs another very slight buff in weapon damage so they can actually win some gunfights, especially the V9S. M11 and XP-54 are debatable but I think they'll benefit from a tiny bit more damage.
- Medium either needs to have the defib as a specialization and/or the healing beam should not stack if multiple beams are healing one player. Also, either get rid of the invincibility after the defib or let us be able to shoot through the player that's being revived, so it's harder to ninja revive players and have them be a human shield.
- Recon senses should either be a couple of charges of sort of a "large radius sonar grenade" effect (so one pulse, showing the location of players at that time instead of "live") or it needs to have a minimum range so you can only see the general direction a team comes from. Last one would be more than enough to still have an advantage when you're defending a cashout, without it being full-on wallhacks at close range.
- FCAR should do a little less damage (1 or 2 more shots to kill) and have a slightly larger magazine (24 or 25 bullets) to counter that change. It'll increase the TTK of the weapon without making it useless.
- The Goo gun shouldn't lock you in place without the possibility to shoot back. Either the goo should break as soon as it touches you (instead of after 1 second or something), it should actively push you out so you can't get stuck or you should be able to shoot through the goo and do (maybe even reduced) damage if you're stuck inside it.
😤 The matchmaking keeps queuing 2-people teams in unranked tournaments, which is incredibly unfair seeing other teams are full. Could 2-people teams have shorter respawn times to make up for their handicap? This feels like a double pain, especially as Embark insists on giving penalties to players who leave games that are obviously a loss from the first second they join such imbalanced teams.
I feel like something is wrong with the dmg i keep getting one shot or two shot and i normally do a decent job ate the game when it comes to killing people and living but im just struggling to do either of those so im not sure if something is wrong with the game or me :/

Embark should remove ranked mode and separate themselves from the competitive player base.
When the players can only play a game for fun and not be focused on wins or ranks, we will find a way to balance the game without destroying it.

I would totally love a mode where I can add up to 9 or 12 friends to fill a game and just play Bank It or Quick Cash. A Private Lobby. Currently, as far as I know, there is no way to play against friends other than getting lucky being matched up against each other.

I hope this really don't happened, balancing things its alright, but its supposed to be a fun game and e-sports are everything but fun, every esport game ends up with a super sweaty community following only meta and being salty by just trying any weapon that is not in meta, I have played a lot of e-sports games but I did never had that much fun like I had in The finals all CS, CSGO, R6S, LoL, Halo 5, all of those games are supposed to be fair e-sports but those are also the most salty and boring games I have ever played and I really hope that doesnt happends to The Finals, the game doesnt need to become an boring e-sports to be good

you can do 1 damage nerf on fcar but it will not change ttk, the right way should be nerf it's recoil, and light weapon are too short on range so instead of buff damage they should buff range. recon should be remove and replace with defib.

After you reach diamond and complete battlepass there is essentially no reason to continue playing. Ranked should be way more difficult than it currently is.

I'm not talking about 1 damage nerf, I'm saying the FCAR needs 1 or 2 more bullets to kill (let's say a medium). That would change the TTK as you almost never hit all your bullets. Up the mag size so don't have to reload every second and it'll be more balanced IMO

Overall love the game and the feel of it! Like most weapon but some need abit of buff like grenade launcher on medium just 4 bullets and really slow and cant kill enemies compare to other guns and cant break walls either. But 8/10 in fun and potential!

the problem of FCAR isn't the fast ttk it's too easy to handle increase recoil is a better solution. back in OB when AK was much easier to control than FCAR, most people choose AK.
Not necessarily, the recoil/spread of the AK makes it difficult to hit many shots at range, so as long as the FCAR is still usable at range it has its use. Increasing the recoil would make it less useful at range.
The AK could be for short/medium ranges and the FCAR for medium/longer ranges. That way you have a choice between kitting yourself for shorter range engagements or longer range engagements. Depending or your choice you'd need to change your playstyle and for example you'd be at a disadvantage if you encounter an AK at close range with the FCAR. Upping the recoil on the FCAR would just make it an AK with fewer bullets and more damage
I main medium and I would remove the being invincible for the first second after defib cus that's unfair
I suddenly thought of something interesting. If we can't accurately record wins and losses, the team's perception of balance for this update might just be their own subjective opinion rather than adjustments based on actual win rates. lol

You are kidding yourself if you think people won't just optimize the fun in casual modes if there's no ranked. They already do as is, it's just less common. People will intrinsically favor the things that give them the best chances, the way to handle it is to keep the outliers from being too broken to keep them from being too frustrating to fight. As it stood nukes failed at that (and are much better now), but recon still absolutely fails this test hard.
But wouldn't that make it "too close" to the AK though? In my opinion it would be ideal if both weapons were different enough to warrant a different playstyle. FCAR would be better for longer ranges and be considerably worse at shorter ranges, while the AK would be better at short ranges but fall on its face when shooting anything at a distance.
This way there would be ways to counter both weapons. Engage the FCAR at short range to outgun them and engage AKs at longer ranges to outgun them.

Remove wallhack ability
The only thing recon needs changed is to make it non-togglable.
This would stop spam scanning and make it's use more tactical.
I have no issue with recon users in casual modes.
If recon is changed or removed. The meta in ranked will move onto another ability and players will cry until it is also removed or changed. The meta will never be defeated and the changes will destroy this game's style and identity.

Realistically, what games make sense to place top players vs bottom players in the same game? How does it make sense? Why can't you see friends ranks outside of the final screen in a game? It makes no sense.

**Get rid of 'The Dead go boom'. **
1 enemy ran in to revive another, that enemy ran to our team & instantly died & caused a triple kill. Both teams got team wiped, Enemy team spawns closer to our objective. Gets the steal & we go from 1st to 4th in Ranked play.
YET AGAIN I PRAY FOR 120HZ SUPPORT FOR CONSOLES
It still gives you an insane amount of info due to the map wide nature of it. Its cooldown is only ~20s IIRC from empty, that's still a huge amount of up time on the whole. The issue is not purely the toggling of it, the entire design of it is inherently flawed. Essentially free wall hacks with zero counter play outside of listening to the obnoxious SCHWSH sound is not counter play. Recon still absolutely fucks you over even in casual modes, hearing the SCHWSH as your team is trying to recover just makes me sigh at this point.
Recon is hugely problematic with how much it neuters many other tactics that aren't just pure gunfights. If you want to play just a straight shooter, that's great, but there's plenty of options that aren't The Finals. Seeing more and more wonky plays lose their capabilities solely because the recon user knows you're there with the sledgehammer about to break the wall, they know you're climbing up with goo on that building, they're tracking down your last teammate to deny them the clutch, they're prefiring on your poor light so they instantly get deleted around that corner, etc.
It gives away your ambush, it prevents you from setting up early, it tells teams where you're going with the vault, it tells you who is at a vault, it tells you where you're defending the cashout, etc.
Recon makes the game less fun even beyond all of the balancing concerns. If you don't get this, we're never going to see eye to eye but I'm throwing this out there in general for the people who don't get why recon is such an issue.

I suddenly thought of something interesting. If we can't accurately record wins and losses, the team's perception of balance for this update might just be their own subjective opinion rather than adjustments based on actual win rates. lol
Or even worse because probably half of my daily tasks aren't logged and updated correctly. They have 0 correct data to balance the game.
Rebuff aim assist a bit and remove recon
I think there's a place for an ability like recon senses in this game, but not in its current form. Having a live feed of where everybody on the map is at all times is stupid, but I think it can be balanced if it's a pulse (like the sonar grenade) and it gives you for example two charges without recharging in between uses. This way you can see where people are for a short while without being able to track their movements every step of the way.
Also you should see when you've been detected by the recon senses so you can actually try to counter it. If it works in a similar fashion to the sonar grenade pulses and you know when you're detected you can also try to get your enemies to push a certain area while you flank around or something.
Right now there's no way to know if you're detected and no way to counter it.

I think making it 30sec cool down would be fair, but you just listed all the ways it helps counter other tactics which is it's literal function.
It's supposed to be used to counter ambushes and scan objective areas.
If it's non-togglable with a 30-sec cooldown it would be used much more sparingly making it more situational.
If they're hunting down the last member of a team, they only have 5 seconds to track before they lose them and have to wait another 30 seconds for cooldown. This gives the running player ample time to escape and is not OP.
Where it stands as togglable makes it to where the can scan almost indefinitely which is not balanced for recon senses.
It's a fun and cool ability that can be made balanced without changing it to a ping or limiting it's range.

It's a literal wall hack ability. It's about as boring as it gets. We're not going to see eye to eye if you think an ability that hard counters the best aspects of the game (AKA the sandboxy nature, the destruction, the variety of approaches) is a good thing.
Making it non toggleable would certainly be a start, but it wouldn't come close to fixing it.
EDIT: Or just keep instantly doing "Stop" and "No" reactions in the first 30 seconds, clearly you're coming at this from an honest discussion standpoint 🙄

Make Recon DETECT contestants OUTSIDE the 30-50 meter radius, it would still be a great ability to keep Skirmishes checking on but not free wallhack
I would like it to have 2 mode, Recon Mode (the first mode), and Anti-Breach mode ( basically make it detect everything that make too much sound within 7-10 M)

I agree with the range part. If you can only see enemies > 50-ish meters away you can prepare if they're coming to your cashout without being able to track them all the way to a kill. It'd still be valuable information because you know approximately when to expect them and what direction they're coming from.
Maybe this could even be achieved quite easily since the tracking already gets more faded as they're closer, so with some tweaks the silhouettes could possibly turn into screen wide colored stripes between 30-50 meters so you can only tell what general direction they're at.

all other abilities have the decision of "when do i use this to make it most effective", no matter the state of recon - if it doesnt reveal the user, it doesnt rly matter as its only effective when you dont have LOS on ppl
if it just has a plain 30 sec cooldown non toggle, u just wait for ppl respawn, then use when respawn - no thinking required

That's not even a remotely valid argument. There is a reason for anything in the game because the devs designed it that way because they thought hey this could be fun and should work out and enhance the game in a certain way. That is not always the case tho since the devs are only humans and can misjudge an ability.
So once it turns out that their theory on how it will enhance the game is wrong either by it not being fun or just overpowered. It is absolutely understandable to first slightly adjust it. If it still ruins the game then vastly changing that ability or flat out removing it if it cannot be changed in a way that would lead it to enhacning the gaming experience is the only right decision left. It doesn't matter what they intended it to be when they first thought of it since what they thought can vastly differ to what it turns out to be.
good times playing a top 90 the finals streamer team, 6x predator in apex while I have a teammate that's in gold... (I'm plat 2). Made it to the finals, but it was impossible to push them with their infinite knowledge recon wallhack bs c4 oneshot heal insta defib cringe comp. I'm outta here, tried to give the finals one last go but holy fk is it impossible to actually play this game competitively.

Las Vegas is an awful map, please try to change my mind. I don't see any positives
With recon senses increase the range at which a player turns into an unidentifyable glitchy blob of team color (to, for example, 30-50 meters) so the user can only see what general direction a team is located instead of the exact location where a single player is located. Players closer than, say, 30m can just glitch the entire screen in their team color so the user knows somebody is close but doesn't know their exact location.
Long range "scanning" would still be possible but at close range you're forced to use sonar grenades which can at least be countered.
Can "Dead go boom" be nerfed? It's literally a spit in the face to melee players, just simply increase the time before the explosions, 3 seconds would be enough to get away
MPs should do 1 or 2 points less damage and
tasers should stun you for 3 or 2.5 seconds.
That is why I'm arguing for it to be made non-togglable with a longer cooldown.
It will make it's use much more strategic and situational having the recon user think about when to activate it.
You can already predict spawning locations in this game. It's not OP to see a team 200+ meters on the map.

Honestly, Dead go Boom might as well be removed. It's either completely inconsequential if you're ranged, or annoying as all hell and potentially unfair if you're melee. All the other events affect everyone in some way.
Either that, or rework it by jacking up its structural damage hard and effectively removing its player damage; then it can cause plenty of chaos.
Recoil on mnk is WAY too light compared to controller. There's already A LOT working towards mnk in this game but the fact that recoil can be completely canceled on mnk as well with jitter aiming makes this a serious problem

The next patch could honestly just be massively nerfing/removing/reworking recon and removing dead go boom and I would be a very happy person.
For an added bonus, backhand low gravity into the trash where it belongs as well.
The shotgun on medium feels really clunky since the reload takes so long and is hard to interrupt. So much time is spent reloading compared to actually firing the weapon and it hurts its performance in fights while making it less fun to use.
Maybe firing and ADSing both having priority over the reload animation would make it feel more fluid and usable?
The same can be applied to the medium grenade launcher and, to an extent, the light shotgun.

@blissful bridge it will make it a little more strategic, but again - most cashouts have 2-3 main spawns. recon uses recon when they spawn - sees their spawn, sees the other teams at other points. prefires and beams one of the team - whole team dives and wipes them... waits until they spawn - activates recon.

or, recon activates when team spawns - team can see recon as they have recon active, both recon and other team prefires each other - team just spawned win as focus fire. then team can push against the slight advantage.
or, recon activates when team spawns, but doesnt peak as whole team can see them and they will die. gives whole team 1/2 seconds more to reposition and have a slight chance to push obj, recon activates again at wrong time and in open - dies to whole team.
making recon visible is the only counterplay, every other meta ability in the game has counterplay - not recon. and theres no counterplay, unless you have a recon that gives comms. or you can make recon visible when they use it, so there is some counterplay
idk theres not much else apart from making the recon ability useless so that no one picks it, or making there be counterplay. otherwise its still going to be a problem

They'll only have a few seconds of sight before they're blind again and this changes the whole meta to recon which is spam scanning.
I don't think adding a handicap to recon by making the player visible when active is the way to go. Too many games have abilities which debilitate the player in some way and I'm happy this game is trying to be different.
This game has strong abilities without debilitating the player using them, and recon is out of balance but the nerf it needs is to be made non-togglable with a longer cooldown.
There are far better ways to balance without removing or completely changing an ability.

I'm not sure what you think the word "counterplay" means, but "just wait it out lol" certainly does not fit the definition of it. By that logic, fire doesn't need to put out gas because "time itself is counterplay" and you can just wait out the gas cloud.
Time isn't counterplay, time is a cost. Every second you spend waiting something out is a second you're not making progress towards the objective, which will continue to tick away as you wait.
@proven pelican It might be a way to deal with abilities in many games, but it is, by its very definition, not counterplay. Waiting is an entirely passive act; you're not "countering" anything, nor are you "playing" much. You're sitting in a corner and doing nothing for however long it takes until the ability you're trying to sit out expires. Your opponent has now effectively removed you from the game for X time with a simple press of a button.
I don't expect them to fully remove it either, but as I said I think it can be balanced quite easily. If they just increase the range at which a players silhouette turns into a glitchy blob you can't track everyone through the walls anymore. Within a certain range the ability should only tell you IF there's anyone close and not their exact position.
Adjusting it to single-use and a higher recharge time isn't a solution IMO as most triple stacks will just run 3x recon senses and alternate who is using it. If the recharge is 30 seconds and the use time is 5 seconds you're still being detected 50% of the time if there's 3 mediums with the ability.

"wait it out" is an extremely viable counterplay in many situations in games. wait out an enemies bulletfire to attack while theyre reloading, waiting out special abilities (i.e recon) to remove the advantage it gives, wait out ultimate abilities in games like overwatch and titanfall
I can assure you "waiting it out" is the fucking duct tape equivalent in a gamers tool kit
What is it really recon for anyway? Counter cloak light hability? I don't see many lights in ranks anyway. So, to me it's the same as wall hacks, you know the enemy movement preventing any strategy and that's an advantage that It can only be countered by other recons. That's the boring part, playing against teams of double or even triple recon because that's the meta if I want to compete.

Imagine you're in a 3vs3 final round and your entire team dies. The enemy team with recon will immediately call out your spawn location the second you spawn. Common FPS tactics like ambushes, flanking maneuvers, stealth, etc., are rendered ineffective, despite being key elements in every FPS game in existence. This takes life and strategy out of the game because recon literally is a wallhack feature, which every cheat has for a reason because of how OP it is in a thousand different ways
The enemy team doesn't have to sit on rooftops and have good game sense; they don't have to rely on audio or play carefully. All cautious play is bypassed because they have a "tap Q for wallhack" feature.
Even if recon is not togglable, the enemy team will just wait until you respawn before they activate it to see everyone's location. Literally changes nothing in the end. Recon is ruining the game, and even if there were arguments for keeping it around, it makes the meta very stale and boring, and I'd rather have any other meta than fighting against people who know where I am 24/7 which makes reviving or flanking or hiding difficult.
please add an option to avoid players as teammates. even blocking doesnt stop afk people to be on your team

counter-play is not cooldown. counter-play is whilst the ability is active. again, it doesnt stop the scenario i said - you use it to get an easy kill or 2 when a team respawns, then by the time they respawn you have it again. theres no counterplay to that. waiting for cooldown? ppl will run 2 recon. same problem - only thing to counter it is to reveal the recon user.

@pliant lion yeah thats another way, someone suggested just having bars on the sides of ur screen so u know if someone is to the left, right, above, or below you.. which does solve a lot - though i feel the main use of it atm is to see where teams are fighting and if ur getting prefired. it solves half the issue, as it will be harder to prefire ppl - but i feel it would gut the ability too hard and make no one pick it anymore (which isnt what the devs want). so that would require a lot of fine tuning.
personally i do feel like revealing the user is the way to go.. everyone would dive that mo fker for using recon and it means as recon you could also outplay them by using recon to make urself visible to bait them...

Defib is already meta and heal beam is arguably as well..
Except the game currently isn't even playing like they intended. The game was very clearly meant to be played as a sandbox game utilizing the destruction elements to maintain objective control.
Not hide and seek tag with recon users chasing you down, or being stuck in a protracted gunfight with the 3 FCAR mediums camping a rooftop while you struggle to do anything that isn't a straight gunfight yourself.
Recon is literally killing the game as the devs intended, don't sit there and claim to speak for them when all of the media around the game and descriptions of the game emphasizes the sandbox nature, not wall hack shootout bonanza.
Revealing the user's location doesn't sound like a good idea to me. Do you really want to constantly see players through walls whenever someone uses recon? It's visually distracting and silly, would lower game performance, and there would seemingly be no clean option to disable it when you don't care for that information in the middle of gunfights especially. You would also have teammates complaining and being toxic because you're giving away your team's position, and lower ranked players would accidentally grief games.
If recon really had to stay, these would be my recommendations:
- Make all player holograms white so you can't tell which team they're on, thereby reducing the value of the information recon gives
- Make it only work within 20-30 meters (within audio cue distance)
- Make it work like thermal vision so you can't tap it on and off, with a long cooldown
- Make defib a specialization so people are forced to pick between recon and defib, which also makes defib less OP so every medium doesn't have one as a "must have" gadget
Alternatively, add a "recon bow" that you can shoot through windows and it'll stick onto an object and work similar to sonar grenade, which would be more skill-based, strategic, and interesting imo and finally add bows to the game which a lot of ppl have wanted.
For the recon bow you might as well make it the tracking dart rework and a bow weapon would be nice

You could try not running straight to the team you know has recon and instead flank and strategically attack from above / below or when they are in a fight with another team.

@unkempt basalt the meta is recon and it's easy to see from the amount of ranked complaints, we can worry about removing heals and defib after we destroy recon.
@dull hemlock recon is currently destroying RANKED, and now the competitive fanbase is clamoring to remove an ability instead of finding balance.

Give us a seringe so we heal quicker which uses a grenade slot. Buff light hp or give them armor so they are picked more frequently in ranked. Make the cloaking skill a little more visible, if you buff their hp or do that armor stuff. Nerf recon sense range. When you heal people with healing gun the user gets healed too but with a slower healing rate.
I didn't ask how do you counter recon, I asked what's recon for, or to counter what exactly? Because to me recon is to see everybody's position AKA wall hacks. Or was it envisioned to counter light's cloaking hability? If that's the case jus give mediums a toggleable thermal vision to counter lights cloak
So all of your counters involve already being in line of sight of the recon user (barring a banked grenade throw). Listing glitch mines as a counter to recon is hilariously stupid, and I even use glitch mines.
You genuinely have no fucking clue what you're talking about. I also love how you keep talking about flanking and tactics and whatnot but then are also trying to pretend to be on the casual side where most teams aren't going to on top of all that meta stuff. Hell, shitloads of people in casuals don't even know things like recon having an audio cue, or that manual revives bring people back at 100% health instead of 40% from a defib.
Though looking at your post history you have some fucking bizarre bone to pick with people not liking recon for whatever reason, so uh. I think I'm done entirely now with you.
I can’t even play qp and goof around on light without 3ms and fcars hunting me down with recon. It’s not just ranked that’s being “destroyed” by recon. Also, ranked helps to show what is and isn’t balanced as everyone is trying their best(hopefully) to win. In an ideal world more balanced game is a more fun game so I don’t personally agree with the sentiment that games shouldn’t be balanced around ranked. Also, all of those recon “counters” are literally not counters in any way shape or form. Glitch grenade is not reliable in any way at glitching a competent recon user. Glitch mine listed as a counter is a joke and a throw pick since it’s almost always better to opt for pure damage mines. Sonar grenade and motion detector aren’t really applicable since they are easily noticeable and have a set avoidable range(unlike recon). Dart gun and flash are the only somewhat respectable ones and even they are extremely situational.
Gut the ability? You would still be able to see ppl through walls up to 30 meters away. Still more OP than thermal vision and a lot of the other gadgets / specializations in the game right now. It literally is a wallhack in the end and it should have heavy restraints and nerfs placed on it. Even with my suggestions revisions, recon would still be more OP than turret for example.
Alternatively, remove or replace recon (which the devs will do if people keep complaining about it as they have been). You're right that I don't want it to be part of the game though. Very few people do, and in my experience it's either people who abuse it with friends / lobbied parties or who haven't used it enough themselves. Try using recon against another recon user and you'll see how ridiculous it is when you're both tracking each other through walls and prefiring each other. Feels like a cheat vs cheat gunfight.
Or try being a light main and going against a team with recon, going to be very fun, especially if you use dash+sword or a more niche melee build.

Do you just sit around doing nothing while both objectives are ticking away, in the hopes that you can make a single attempt at third-partying the double-contested objective, the advantage of which gets essentially nullified if the remaining team's running at least one defib medium? No, there are about a million more productive things you could be doing in the spectrum between "sitting around doing nothing" and "solo-suiciding into two squads". Acting like those are the only two choices is a textbook false dichotomy and says a lot more about you than it does about me.

Time is a resource, and it can indeed be spent effectively just as well as it can be spent ineffectively; the distinction of which is a function of how much time you're spending versus the benefit you gain from doing it.
Waiting out a hail of bullets to wait for a reload is barely any time at all in most games and gives you the benefit of catching them defenseless and with their pants down. On the other hand, "waiting out ultimate abilities" as a tactic is just straight-up not a thing in most games that have ultimate abilities; you'll, instead, make the proactive attempt to bait out an ultimate so that it will no longer be available for when the proper fight begins. If you're able to just wait out an ultimate, it was either (a) completely wasted anyway, or (b) did its job as designed - it bought the user time by making their opponents waste time through forcing them to do nothing. It really isn't all that difficult to grasp.
In the case of the proposed rework of Recon, waiting it out is not only the only method you have to effectively counter Recon, but it's also always a losing equation for you: the opponents activate Recon, virtually turning any approach towards the objective into suicide (if used effectively). Trying to flank, outmaneuver, or trickplay will probably get you collapsed on and deleted. Your options are either to (a) take the fight at a huge disadvantage while the ability is active, or (b) waste precious seconds - seconds that are coming off the objective - until the ability goes on cooldown, after which you still have a fight that's on even footing. You have gained absolutely nothing from "waiting it out", other than the chance to get a fair fight.

I completely agree with you. Another reason why "waiting" doesn't work that's been missed entirely is that you never know when they use their ability, when you're detected by it or when it's depleted. So you have no clue on when your 20 second window to push the enemy team starts, if it's even that long of a window.
A big part of the problem with recon senses is that there's 1. no indication you're being detected and 2. there's no way to counter it. There is almost zero difference between playing against recon senses and playing against an actual wallhacker.
IMO the best way to balance Recon senses is to either:
- Make enemy silhouettes less clear the closer they are: clear at >70m, glitchy blob at 50m and no clear indication of the exact location <30m (just show "someone is close" in some way or another)
- Show enemies in pulses instead of a live feed of the exact location. The ability has a specific amount of pulses without recharging in between pulses, only after being fully depleted.

EDIT: Before I'm told I'm a "recon main" again. No I do not use recon, I enjoy the turret and I have no issue with others enjoying recon.
I can think only think of two solutions to reworking recon:
A. Give it the Thermal treatment: where you can toggle it, but toggling it again would force you to recharge it completely from empty.
B. Make it a burst type: you would get scans in short intervals.

Definitely, I think overtime could be a great addition to this game. As long as you can hold the steal you should be able to capture it. Would also make it so that the defending team has to defend for the entire duration and can't already run away with 10 seconds left as there's nobody close enough to the cashout. As long as you start a steal within the match time you should be able to finish it as well.
Right now the last 6 seconds of a cashout might as well be deleted as you can't steal it anyway.
This is functionally the exact same thing as lengthening the match timer by 6 seconds, just with extra steps.

Not really, holding a steal during overtime would immediately end the match if the person stealing is killed. Extending the match by 6 seconds would induce the exact same "problem" as there already is right now. If I kill the last enemy at 0:04 and start stealing at 0:01 time left I should be able to finish the steal.
Many other objective based games also make use of overtime if there's anything happening to the objective at the moment the match would normally end.

Right, but that's why I said "functionally". If you currently start a steal 6 seconds before the round ends and you're killed while you're stealing, the match is functionally over as well. Killing the last enemy at 0:04 and starting the steal at 0:01 is currently functionally the same as killing the last enemy at 0:10 and starting the steal at 0:07.
And sure, some objective-based games make use of this sort of overtime, but some others do not. Defusing the bomb in CSGO, Valorant and RB6, for instance, has to be done entirely within the round timer - if you start too late, you lose.

Can there please be a situation of only one turret a team? Spamming 3 turrets on a point is crazily overpowered. Turrets in itself is already a crutch of a perk to use, three is just overkill. The problem is that, unless it's the final cashout of the match, you can't tell when you're going to be too late or not. As long as a cashout is... cashing out(?), you should be able to start (and finish) a steal. I've lost count of the amount of times we finally cleared 3 teams off the objective only to get screwed and not being able to steal because we have 5 seconds left on the cashout.
Sure in CSGO you can't defuse after the bomb timer runs out but iirc the match continues as long as the bomb is armed. In APB Reloaded (which I played a lot of in the past) you could also capture an objective while the timer runs out and as long as you're able to hold the capture you could still win.

The issue is that the framing for the situation you've described is wrong. You weren't screwed out of being able to steal; instead, you took too long to clear out three teams off of the objective. Again, adding 6 seconds to the cashout timer while leaving the rules the same as they are now would've been functionally the same as allowing you to start the cashout at 5 seconds and successfully finish it. The difference when asking for overtime steals isn't in functionality, it's in how the existing functionality feels. Ultimately, I believe it's more valuable to learn the lesson that, instead of pushing an objective that everyone else in the server is pushing and inevitably run out of time, you should consider getting started on the other objective instead while everyone else is distracted; and the current functionality underlines that over the alternative.

Should get faster regenration out of combat to improve their harass-playstyle.

The sniper could use some love aswell. Not too sure about in what way tho, since that could easily make it too strong. Some experimentation with firerate might be a good first step imo.
M11 is in a weird spot too, it technically is slightly stronger than the xp-45 up close but overall still significantly worse. Maybe enhance the close-range capabilities even more so there is a clear difference between the two.

Sword should be able to hit multiple opponents with the charge attack. (The reverse of heavies hammer)
Medium:
After getting resurrected by defib you should not have invulnerability.
If you get defibbed as a medium you should have your own defib go on cooldown to prevent chain defibs.

Make it so defib isnt instant but just significantly shortens the regular revive-time. Like a sped up version of the normal revive where youd have to keep facing the downed-player trophy.
In addition a reduced effect for multiple healing beams on the same target would be good aswell. One beam heals for 100%, two beams would heal for more than 100% but less than 200%.
Rework recon to a have 2 charges. A charge sends out a scan that highlights players in the vicinity for a short duration (it would keep its function as an intel gathering ability without being so overbearing). Or just get rid of it.
Take a look at Fcar and tweak the numbers a bit.
Heavy:
Hammer horizontal swings should be able to hit multiple opponents. (The reverse of lights sword)
Performance:
Some performance and optimization improvements are very needed aswell.
Melee AA should be toggleable.

BUFF THE RIOT SHIELD:
Here's some suggestions, I know all of these together would make the shield pretty strong but even 1 or 2 would be enough to improve it so much!:
-While blocking movement speed should be the same as walking (increasing block movement speed would help a lot in pushing and giving your teammates support)
-Lunge distance (90% of the fight become a chase you can't win, the other classes have ways to block enemies, slow them down or catch up to them, even heavies have RPG to finish people off if they use sledge)
-Add a slow down effect after being hit by the shield, nothing too crazy just a small reduction to movement speed and the effect should only last 500ms max (Same reason as above, medium lack ways to finish people off or catch up to them, this would prevent infinite chases, also this slow down would only work on medium and heavies, light can still run away)
-Increase damage from 84 to 90 (to kill heavies in 4 hits instead of 5)
-Add a charge like attack, to activate it press the attack button while blocking kinda like charge N slam, of course less powerful and without the destruction effect, it would add variety, also all the other melee weapons have two attacks)

@obsidian solar the riot shield needs a little buff to help it be a little more viable in combat. I like the idea of removing the movement penalty from block and the slight damage increase from 84 to 90. I think those would help it without having to add extra animations for shield bashes, strong attacks, or melee stunning (all of which are cool ideas though.).

Even in CS:GO you can buy defusers that let you defuse the bomb even if the timer would be too short to manually defuse it. Most competitive games allow for some variance of overtime. The timers and how they work in this game totally need some tweaking.

That's honestly why I'm in favor of removing both. The only invisibility that's decent is vanishing bomb and only balanced form of recon is sonar grenade. I said both invisibility and recon are cheesy but you described a scenario of WHY that is.
The way you have to play in order to play around both ruins the variety of the game. I've seen some people here talk about how they don't see these issues in quickplay and it's only a ranked issue but I've had triple medium teams prefiring corners in quick cash.
Where do you think those ranked guys are gonna go if ranked isn't there? Do you think people in MW2 needed Esports to use a one man army glitch to have unlimited noob tubes? People are always gonna gravitate to what's the best and everyone else just having fun will eventually have to do the same thing in order to counter.

I would like to suggest that you disable this very intrusive AutoHotKey check and implement proper cheat detection. Windows is terrible to use without AHK and it's very common. I would hate to have to hide it myself.

There are two things I am intrigued about #1 Learning about the world and lore of the finals and making cash. I think it would be a great idea to give more lore drops as a player makes money and gains experience in the finals. Ibfeel that would be a decent reward for those who are trying to stick around for a long time.

I have completely given up on Asia server, what i'm about to say next, literally just happened in my ranked game and i'm not even exaggerating it in any way.
Round 1: 2 hackers on my team and 1 hacker on the other team.
Round 2: 3 teams had at least 1 hacker including mine which had 2.
Round 3: This is where shit got real stupid. Every single team had 1 or 2 hackers and when we started losing at around 4 minutes. My chinese teammate started turning on the the voice comms and asked me to stop shooting purple in chinese and I shit you not. There was another person in the background talking and saying in chinese "I didn't know it was you if not I wouldn't have shot you guys but your 3rd teammate kept shooting us as well(he is referring to me)" and they started coordinated pushes (Essentially they started teaming). And if you thought that was bad enough, the other two teams also started teaming. We lost in the end and the ending words from my chinese teammate(he was on open mic) was "let's queue together at the same time so we get each other" to the guy in the background which was purple. I say chinese teammate because he was speaking in chinese.

M11 is in a weird spot too, it technically is slightly stronger than the xp-45 up close but overall still significantly worse. Maybe enhance the close-range capabilities even more so there is a clear difference between the two.

In addition a reduced effect for multiple healing beams on the same target would be good aswell. One beam heals for 100%, two beams would heal for more than 100% but less than 200%.
Rework recon to a have 2 charges. A charge sends out a scan that highlights players in the vicinity for a short duration (it would keep its function as an intel gathering ability without being so overbearing). Or just get rid of it.
Take a look at Fcar and tweak the numbers a bit.

recon sense should definitely be reworked to a single charge cooldown ability (like heavy charge) rather than a toggle ability. Same with light cloaking device. To compensate for this change obviously the recon sense effect should be stronger and last longer. For the cloaking device change, light should just get damage buffs on certain weapons so they can actually win firefights (since cloak having a real cd means they can’t rely on it as often for getting the HP lead via first strike)
change the stun gun effect to still allow for gadget use. Being immobilized is an incredibly powerful effect, it doesn’t really need even more things working in favor. At worst you can already just strafe since turning is very slow while stunned.
healing beam and defib rework. For healing beam I think it should overcharge and become unusable faster, especially when 2 beams are being used on a single player. For defib, it could force a reload (set revived players to 0 ammo always) so players with iframes can’t instantly rejoin the fight, it could disable the defibs of other teammates to prevent chains, the revive speed could be reduced (swiped from another suggestion) or Alternatively just get rid of the iframes
reduce the visibility effect on gas, as it already provides area denial via damage. It additionally acting as a means to obscure other players just makes smoke effects even less competitive.
add another attack to the riot shield. I personally think all melee weapons should have a way to deal high single hit damage to open fights or a gap closer, as the chances are they’ve already taken damage getting close or risk it—riot shield having less of this problem doesn’t mean it is immune. A high damage option on riot shield could be a charged attack from holding M1 that disables passive and active guarding, and a momentum option could be a shield charge that does quick melee damage or less

There are a good number of options and ways to nerf a wallhack, not just by removing it.
As you already know, it makes a directional noise when you activate it, and your enemies can hear that. That's its current only downside, but it could use an expansion over that.
Actual distance falloff and limited distance overall so you can't see spawn points, nor teamfights 10 rooms away
"Detected" message to victims
Rework: Add a directional (90-120°) "scanline" that visually expands over from the player's FOV that pings other players' locations/silhouettes, and you'd only get a current position ping instead of a constant WH; plus make said scanline visible for enemies too (Would even change the wallhack into a wall ping, and could just have 2 charges which get used up the instant someone presses the prompt.)

Can y'all make the rank system a bit more dynamic? It's kinda gotten to a point where whoever plays more gets a higher rank, not just whose better. I still think that a certain amount of grinding should be required to be on the leaderboard, but currently there's absolutely no way (literally not enough time in a day) for someone new to catch up to someone higher up on leaderboard, even if they are better/have higher winrate.

Controller deadzone doesn’t do what it should for example I play on all games on zero deadzone (deadzone off) easier for me to fine tune with the cost of stick drift the finals is the only game where zero deadzone doesn’t do that means turning deadzone to zero on the finals doesn’t actually turn off deadzone.
In all games I get stick drift therefore I know deadzone is off but with the finals it ain’t the case and it impacts my aim heavily. TL:DR if u want to turn deadzone off (deadzone 0) it doesn’t do that there’re means deadzone is still there. Im on ps5

I guess my feedback is to maybe make it easier to grind the mastery skins. or have the XP you get go to your weapons and gadgets if you've maxed out the BP and account level. RN XP and challenges are kind of wasted since the XP isn't going anywhere currently.

I feel like recon should be for the light with much less obvious heat signatures, a 1 use short activation rather than toggle (maybe 5s uptime 10s downtime?) and maybe medium could get defib as an ability instead, this also fixes the 3 medium turret bunker strat that makes lower skilled lobbies less annoying, making newer players less likely to be driven away

That would be awesome for sure. Can you push for the option to disable anti-aliasing? There's a decent chunk of people who get headaches/eye strain from blurriness in games. The blurriness caused by forced TAA (or other AA in general) is pretty bad and prevents me from playing for more than a few rounds at a time. An option to disable all anti-aliasing would be extremely welcome; it was possible in the cbt/obt through config files and did not negatively impact either visuals or performance.
Out of everything non-balance related, this is the thing I want most.

explosives don't need further nerfing. games going to be stale if nothing kills anyone. I also used to hate gas, but you just need to learn to play around it, wait it out, or heal beam someone while they are in it, or you know, just carry fire nades in your reserve or find a fire barrel. c4 already does less damage than breach charges which is a joke. They could have just made C4 like breach charges where you have to wait the cooldown to put a second one down (breach charges are the only util in the game like this), that along with the weight change would have single-handedly stopped double-c4 nukes, and the damage nerf to C4 literally didn't do anything except for in cases where you are using C4 as a trap, which should NOT have been nerfed at all. explosive mines are already useless and no one picks them unless they are running a 3 mine loadout.

Tho this is of course a personal opinion, explosive gadgets like the rpg, c4, explosive mines get way too many kills, as they basically insta kill. (Rpg almost after the nerf)

The issue with gas is that in many games the winner is just who throws more gas mades and mines onto the cashout.. sure you can throw fire but that doesnt really help because you also shouldnt stay in fire and after it they just spam more gas... it just denies areas for an eternety
The c4 rpg and explosive mine do way too much damage and are basically the reason why many other gadgets like the goo nade or flash are not being picked often (tho flash needs a buff)
Id prefer a game where our guns decide the outcome of a match, not the amount of gadgets we can spam

The current meta sucks, automatic guns, shields and rat tactics like recon and invisibility are simply Unfun, this game should prioritize uniqueness and silly gadgets, the most fun I've had in this game was playing vs throwing knives lights and heavies with hammers, people using RPGs and C4 to level a building instead of throwing nukes.

This game is a shooter with unique gadgets and the three class system is great for adding that spice. Taking away the power of gadgets, and making the game into pure FPS where you do not have to counterplay or play around the gadgets would definitely trash the uniqueness of the game. Just learn to play, this game is not CoD, R6S, Valorant, Overwatch or CS, but has itself a unique position
oof Recon does not need to be more powerful and/or last longer if it's made single charge. It should be single charge AND have a radius of like 30-50 meters max from the player using it, and should pulse like sonar (say 3 pulses) instead of just being a full on wall hack. so many hot takes in this channel and people wonder why the devs are so misguided with their nerfs.
@sand sable won lots of games by just heal beaming the guy standing in gas while he steals. also when you throw fire on gas just throw it on the edge, it will still poof the gas and not be in your way, and explosive mines don't 1-shot (not even a light, I just tested it) If I see one in my way and im full health, I just run through it. I will always be against the RPG not one-shotting a light (at least on direct hit) as a light main, but that's just me.

EDIT: There shouldn't be an effect on any ability that debilitates the player in some way. (i.e. visible while using recon or costing health to defib)

did some testing, and settings which take up the most cpu frametime, effects (simply anything higher than low), veiw distance, and simply turning on rt (it uses more cpu than you think) ... my suggestion is to make the rt more gpu based than cpu based@keen steppethese settings should improve 99 percent fps ratios and cpu perf

I've said this a dozen times before, and I have no problem repeating it another dozen times. There are ways they can nerf things without adjusting damage values all the time (it just requires effort, something the devs seem allergic to). I have repeatedly suggested changes they could have made to the RPG to make it more of a skill-based weapon as prior to the nerf and even after it, it's still just a swap-to-fire instantly for free kill. They could slow the swap speed, slow the projectile down, and make one-shotting only on direct hit. With the random deviation nerf it already got, it's pretty difficult to direct hit (especially beyond 10 meters), and everyone aims it at the floor usually anyways. This would have made it so a light could actually see the heavy pulling out the RPG before firing (ive died dozens of times from someone swapping to the RPG and firing it before I even see them holding the RPG, but that's their terrible interpolation) it and could react, and with a slower projectile could also react (unless close range anyways, but that's already not a problem because shooting the RPG at close range just kills the heavy now). You say heavy wipes teams without having to use their gun, I play sledge when I play heavy and there are so many instances that I am just standing around waiting for cool downs or running away because I literally can't do anything and can't even kill a light with an rpg anymore. unless you get the jump on people with the sledge, you're dead.

The riot shield suffers from having to constantly chase. So a removed movement penalty would help with closing space only slightly but allowing the riot shield to be played more aggressively.
The extra damage was a suggestion from another user because it would make heavies 4 hits to eliminate instead of 5 which I think is fair.
@wary tapir I agree with "this game is a breath of fresh air.". So why would you advocate for changing it? You're asking for an entire ability to be removed. Embark themselves put this ability in the game just as much as they made C4+Barrel elimination an achievement.

Input-based matchmaking with input lock while in-game would also be pretty cool, I've been able to switch between inputs in-game and it can be quite an unfair advantage, as well as playing controller on PC (I mainly used controller on shooters like BO2 on Xbox 360, haven't relearned for KBM) and I keep getting curb stomped by KBM players since they can have higher sensitivity and better reaction time, that's mainly why I think Input-based matchmaking would be awesome since it makes it fairer to be against players with the same input method.
(IBM would probably be opt-in, and if you don't have it on it uses standard matchmaking.)
nerf c4 because with the patch instade of nerf the heavy, the patch buff him and nerf light, now light is the only one who die every time by nuke and heavy is the only one who survive every time at nuke

I'm probably going to quit playing this game until at least the next season. This game was so fun during the betas, but now it's just a slog and shit keeps getting nerfed into the ground. Terrible interpolation. Terrible abilities like endless range wall hacks and cloak that can just be spammed on and off (I don't care what any cloak users say, the last nerf was barely a nerf). Devs need to actually rework things and stop just adjusting values. The UI is terrible with the contestant and equipment screens (see my previous rework suggestion with provided examples I did in photoshop). So many hot takes from people that would be terrible game designers. devs say they don't balance based on feedback, but that's exactly what they seem to be doing and it's ruining the freedom of choice and fun sandboxy experience this game had. everyones just running medium now, and even in QP you rarely even see heavies now because they got nerfed so hard. (even I play mostly medium now because light is no fun when everyone has wall hacks). I had over 300 hours throughout the alpha and betas, and I have 170 hours on release, and I just can't anymore. (and neither can a lot of other players, lost 20k+ peak players since 1.5 patch just on steam alone). Fix your shit Embark, you had something here.
@sand sable I'm a light main, and the C4 and RPG nerf were too far over-nerfed IMO. If I died by an RPG, I accepted it as a bad play on my part. They could have nerfed them so many different ways instead of just nerfing damage into the ground and making C4 barrels only throw 4 feet now (considering a heavy can throw a fire barrel over 100m)
I use goo gun with sledge, but half the time you just fuck yourself over too because the goo is a little unpredictable.

Sniper needs to have an increase in damage after X meters away. Keep stats as they are now, but add the distance damage multiplier. This would promote using it like an actual sniper, but without hurting those who still like to use it close quarters.

If grapple has 2 charges. You would have lights running the cashbox around the map playing keep away with the box. Grapple needs a faster recharge time so it can be used faster without enabling cashbox keep away.

Removing 2sec invincibility is fair and would promote more thought into using the ability. This would help stop chain revives to a major extent as well.
I think the healing beam is fine where it's at currently. I do like that idea you have though, but let's not touch heal beams until we see how the game plays after recon and defibs get a slight rework.
Recon Senses needs to be non-togglable with a 30 second cooldown and a louder audio cue.
FCAR shouldn't be touched until we see what happens with recon and AA.

im trying to find help for my friend. So it seems like his account got wiped compleetly. After update 1.5 he turned on game and saw tutorial screen and he had lvl 0 he lost his battlepass, skins, and credits. He sent email to embark but after few days sill there is no response. Also when he went to website he couldt link his steam to account. it looked like his acount got unlinked steam and all that he had on steam is lost now. He cant link it back he can only add ps or xbox account. He went now to job and asked me if i can find some help for him.
The rpg and c4 didnt get nerfed into the ground lol, its still crazy strong.. and with red barell you can still get your 'nukes' into good distance.. the other barells more if its straight down, wich is good i think, it was just too fckn easy.
The heavy has 350 health, sick gadgets, sick guns, its still an insanely powerful class, same as the medium.
The light is just different, its not easy to balance when one class has more than 100% more health than another. And tho i think the stun gun nerf was good, i dont think we need any other light nerf as long as the light is basically useless in ranked.
The reason you see less heavies now, is because they switched to wallhacks, not because they are weak

Alright Alright I am gonna make a compilation of what I think needs to be changed.
Heavy: I am not a heavy Player. I cannot give any constructive ideas on heavy. Maybe make M60 recoil suck just a slight bit less.
Medium:
Recon - Reduce range to 25 meters.
Remove defib I frames or lower them to 1 second
FCAR - Increase mag to 25 rounds. Lower damage by 12% and have damage fall off be steeper starting at 40 meters.
Light:
Increase base HP by 25. So 175 base HP.
Grapple - Two charges. If lights can play the game of cashbox keep away, then cool. Atleast they can be good at that.
Glitch - have it explode on shields, and decrease overall explosion when not hitting a shield to 1 second delay.
Sniper - Bring damage up to one shot head shot mediums
Dagger - Allow a back stab lunge animation
Throwing Knives - Allow them to hold the alternate fire. Having them be forced to go through the entire animation is dumb and feels really bad.
Stun Gun - I wouldn't touch it next patch but if light gets any of these buffs, maybe look into lowering stun time to 2.5 seconds. But yeah don't nerf that until other buffs take affect so we know that it actually needs the nerf.
Global Changes:
Mandate MNK. End this AA debate and console players crying about no MNK. Or at least disable controller for ranked. Oh and obviously disable controller on PC as well. Cannot argue about AA if there is no AA and no controllers.

maybe thats already in the game but i couldnt find it anywhere. add a report button when youre spectating (this will be especially useful if killcam will ever be a thing). had multiple games where teamm8s were just going sniper and cloak and tried noscoping the entire match. wouldnt even respawn me or go for the obj which is just not ok in my opinion but maybe im just a little too mad at this. also for the obvious reason if someone is being super toxic or hacking

All I gotta say. The more I think about it the stupider these arguments are of AA vs MNK and the reasoning why MNK was banned on console and all the fucking drama attached to it all. Controller is a flawed input device for FPS. If it requires aim assist to compete with MNK, then it is probably not that good of an input for a fast paced shooter. Don't get me wrong, controller is good for racing games and other genres, but the fact that there has to be an entire system in place to make controllers feel useable for FPS shooters is absolutely wild. So? Enforce MNK. Then it literally doesn't matter if it is cross play. AA is a thing of the past. If you are good, then you are good, if you are bad, then you are bad. Even the playing field for once. Like I mentioned, maybe allow controllers in quick cash/bank it so that you don't just insta nuke the population instantly. That would allow you to sip on your cheap beer on the couch while you play.
But yeah nuke the archaic controls that controllers bring to the game. Oh and why the fuck is stick drift still a thing. Companies be charging 60+ dollars for controllers that get stick drift in like 2 weeks of use. Fucking garbage.

You really should be asking for gyro in everything. Then you would never be at a disadvantage and AA never has to be a thing. I've hated AA as a concept even in the 360 days. The controller stick issue has been fixed for a decade but people don't want progress
so unlike many people who call for the downright removal of recon senses and as a person who uses it as a solo player because it's the best gadget since i usually can't rely on my teammates. my suggestion to change recon is to make it more like the HRV from Blacklight Retribution. When I first picked up Recon that is what it instantly reminded me of.
Essentially instead of having an activation cost there is a animation that you have to go through to use and get out of the recon.

Still has the drain on the resource meter while in use

Grapple: faster cooldown time
Sniper: damage multiplier added after X meters from target
Throwing Knives: slightly faster attack time, held strong attack, tighter dispersion while moving, sliding, and jumping.
Sword: hit multiple opponents with heavy attack
Breach Charge: increase to 2 from 1 like C4
Thermal Vision: make it togglable
Glitch Grenade: Explode on contact / Shorter detonation time
Add Stim gadget that heals the light and can be used on teammates.
MEDIUM
Recon Sense: Non-togglable, 30 second cooldown, and louder audio cue.
Turret: slightly larger hitbox
Heal Beam: slightly reduce healing use time.
Riot Shield: movement penalty removed while blocking, and increase damage from 84 to 90.
Defibs: Remove 2 second invincibility
Jump Pad: activates underneath player when placed while running.
Glitch Trap: increase glitch time
HEAVY:
Sledge: hit multiple opponents with standard attack.
GAME ENVIRONMENT AND MODES:
Reduce health of all barrels.
Dead Go Boom: trophies have 5 sec timer with ticking audio, a visual cue, and can be throwable by anyone.
Personal idea: stun, sonar, and glitch barrels.
QoL IMPROVEMENTS
Color Wheel for all cosmetics, hair, etc. (primary, secondary, and accent)
Increase number of saved Contestants from 6 to 9
Forge Mode and Custom Lobbies
A better SBMM so ranked isn't matching with higher ranks and casual has better flow like in beta.
KBM on console
AA slightly improved for controller (finding a balance between last nerf)
Crossplay made togglable.
VR Bucks (3,000) can be traded for Coins (150)
Ban Cheaters
I hope they fix the Mesh Shield bug that leads to a ridiculous ADS and FOV issue right after using it
Nukes have not been nerfed. Please nerf nukes properly by removing the capability to place them on moving objects, cant do anything if a heavy swings the same corner with a nuke in hand

you do get 2 breach charges, you just need to wait the cooldown to place the second, and I dont think this needs to be changed (breach charge and frag grenades is the only things I've gotten to level 6 already). CS has 1+ million concurrent players which has no console support as just one of many FPS examples that don't have it and don't need it. Anyway, let me rephrase, console support is fine, but you shouldn't appeal to console users with aim assist and other bs because it is an inferior system in the end. If you can't afford a PC and need a crutch for aiming, then that's your own problem and not something that the devs need to fix. There's nothing to fix, and it just creates more issues as we've seen (especially with all of the aim assist drama which has already made a lot of players quit)
I have a 360hz monitor, should my monitor's refresh rate be capped to 60hz so that everyone with 60hz has a fair advantage vs me? Should my fps also be capped to 30 so the enemy team playing on a toaster is on an equal playing field? Same logic applies to everything. Everyone is on a diff kind of system with diff kind of hardware. Someone will always be at a disadvantage.
If console players deserve a crutch, then so do ppl playing on toasters or people without expensive gaming hardware. So do people with disabilities who have visibility issues or can't hear. Maybe all deaf people should get a wallhack. There's 1000000 categories of people you could appeal to with 'assistance software' but for some reason console players feel entitled to it. Literally just disable crossplay or invest in a PC or find another game that isn't a competitive FPS game that's mostly meant to be played on MnK anyhow.
C4 on Red Canisters - Make them spin all over the place because they have some heavy mass on them - The nukes are still winning games without any gunfights. Eg: Red Canister sniping people from the street while they are rooftop of a 4-story 😆
Honestly, the problem with nukes is not damage or distance, but counterplay. Revert the damage changes to c4, decrease the weight that they inflict on objects, but in return make their hitbox large and health low, so that one shot to the object detonates it. This provides counterplay and give a solid risk v reward to them since you can be very likely to instantly die if you are not careful when wielding them and those on the receiving end get an opportunity to destroy them, when being held for a kill or mid air.
I totally understand, I wish they'd revert the damage nerf too and making it one charge would be a way to do it.
I do prefer it being set at two charges though and I think taking that away would hurt it's function which is setting multiple traps. I don't want it nerfed any further that's for sure. C4 is fine where it's at currently.
I'd hope breach charges are treated the same way as C4 and lights are given two charges. That'd help buff the light class as a whole which is needed, because heavy doesn't need to be nerfed any further in my opinion but light does need a boost.

lights had 2 charges without a cooldown in beta, and it was too strong, I use it almost exclusively as traps, or to drop a vault/cashout a floor, or rarely use it to blow a hole through a wall (mostly on vegas). Having 2 was just too easy to place on the cashout and go hide, now you have to be smart about returning to place the second one. I think it's fine the way it is.
@fierce flume im a light main and think the RPG should one-shot lights, I also think they nerfed C4 too hard. I also don't use cloak/stun/db or MP5 combo either, because cheese builds are no fun, and recon is no fun to play against as any class.

@fierce flume it's because of that in casual and ranked meta, which ranked meta is no reason to remove or completely change an ability. I explain how recon should be to Vudu below to help it become better balanced without removing it or changing it's function completely.
@fossil walrus recon is supposed to be used in countering pushes and surveying spawns. It's broken right now because it's togglable and can be spammed without having to wait for a cooldown. It needs to be made non-togglable with a 30 second cooldown and a louder audio cue. That would stop the spam scans, camping, and hunts majorly making it's use far more situational instead of being available always.
@daring fossil I understand what you mean, but perhaps it would help give the light class a boost in power. I agree completely about C4 and the RPG.
@proven pelican an auto system for bans based on bad k/d isn't the way to go and would discourage both new players and casual play. You can always block a player you do not want to encounter again.
@fierce flume I agree. It needs balancing, but they want to have it completely removed or change it's live-feed function which I think is extremely drastic. It's not that OP but it is higher tier and needs balanced. If you don't agree with them they'll just scream "wall-hacks and information", and then proceed to say that you must main recon and it's your clutch. It's absolute recess conversations with them.

There are a bunch of different counters to pushes that don't involve cross the map hacks. Mines, sonar grenades, turrets, goo gun etc. That's not a good reason to keep recon in the game. Especially when it does work that should be done be the player themselves which is having game sense and gathering intel.
If you want to know where the team is pushing from then actually position yourself so you can see them coming instead of turtling with a wall back ability. It's just lazy gameplay.

Seriously, flamethrower damage needs to be looked at post hotfix. Damage feels incredibly low for the very short range, especially in light of excessive range benefit to Medium FCAR users. Even at point blank range it remains a 50/50 coin flip against mediums. What's the point of the thing if it can't easily win a close up engagement against a smaller health pool enemy? It has no range AT ALL - so it needs to be a lot better within 5 feet.
After 1.5.1 patch literally every heavy making "nukes" and just oneshots you, doesn't matter if you are heavy, medium or light. It's just so annoying, and there is nothing to do, when you see this monster near your face

Recon absolutely belongs in the game. The developers at Embark even made stickers, audio, and a charm to go with it.
The three biggest and laziest arguments I see for recon are calling it wall-hacks, claiming information, and saying "get good" with game sense.
None of those are good reasons to remove it entirely from the game and contribute nothing to crafting an unique and enjoyable game.
I think ignorance of what an FPS can be is damaging to the genre as a whole. It's limited in view and imagination for the variety of different forms of gaming.
Recon is not balanced currently, but that doesn't mean it should be removed or drastically changed.
It needs to be made non-togglable with a 30 second cooldown and a louder audio cue.
It will be better balanced after that change.
The pings need to be delayed. It shouldnt be a live view of the enemy team imo
So is your issue with the wall hack label is due to you not knowing what wall hacks are? If you look up what ESP or wall hacks are on YouTube it literally looks like Recon. Almost to a T. The only difference is the outline is different and that's a style choice. Wall hacks are always a good idea to remove as that's the most useful, individual form of cheating in FPS games.

with you on this one tbh, removing an interesting ability entirely instead of making it fair and providing long counterplay times is allot more fun an engaging for the person who wants to use recon, it also makes specific weapon builds and setups more viable, such as mines and shotguns, a long cooldown and loud audio cue for the user makes it allot harder to use mid battle.
you have to remember as well that picking this nerfed recon also means your team lacks the healing beam ability, and also the sentry turret, both of which make holding a hell of a lot easier than using a nerfed recon could, if nerfed properly
your "last chance" is clearing the enemy team out faster
I think there is a case to be made for both sides of the argument
but just consider:
you have been defending a cashout for almost 2 minutes now but get rushed by both teams at the last second and get wiped
whoever wins will get it and you were punished for winning
if the match doesn't get extended, that means that there is at least a chance you may keep it, if the others are too occupied with fighting
i think it's much more satisfying to clutch by getting on the steal and not knowing if you have the time like a bomb defuse rather than it being guranteed once you start the steal.
I never said Recon doesn't need balanced, but it definitely doesn't need to be removed or changed drastically.

NERFF MEDIUM ANNOYING META
People call it wall hacks because it perfectly emulates what wall hackd are. It's literally wall hacks in all but name. And yes there's nothing wrong with with playing a game casually but you also need to realize that you're a casual player who might not understand what better players might mean in regards to game mechanic.
If things were balanced around bad, casual players then characters like Zangief(the worst character in almost every Street Fighter he's been in) would be further nerfed because bad players can't stop running into lariat. This is the same thing.
Just because you think it's a fun concept to have cross the map wall hacks doesn't mean it's healthy for the game long term. You'll understand the issues more when people in your casual games start abusing it too.

Suggestion for Medium, specifically MMM setups:
Remove defib as gadget, tie it to heal beam. Hold Q or specialization key over a statue and defibs come out to revive. Hold trigger on players to heal.
This will remove the cancer that is MMM. It is too strong because you can have 3 beam or any variation of recon and turret and it is too strong because of defib chain. If you want to run recon or turret, no defibs.
Simple fix that is quite balanced.

Hey Devs, I just had the craziest idea ever. Make recolors of every common skins (Hair, Shirts, Pants, Hat/Masks, etc.) and make it so we can use our VR Currency to buy them
It would force people who run turret or recon to sacrifice heal beam AND defib. That way they don't have the best of all worlds. Heal, while strong, is nothing compared to defib chaining.
By limiting defibs to heal beam, it would force teams to sacrifice turret and recon if they want to run triple heal beam. A triple heal beam is easier to deal with than a heal, turret recon or heal double turret with APS.
Right now all three specializations can create a defib chain and thats too strong.

The problem with "competitive players" is that they cry about meta loadouts, but they'll bully anyone who doesn't play X character or item.
You attempt to insult me by insinuating my skill and understanding of gaming while you advocate for removing an ability just because it doesn't fit in with your preferred gameplay style.
I play against recon, invisibility+shotgun, triple turret, and heal+defib trains in casual. I also go against keep away plays with the cashbox. I encounter a larger meta loadout abuse in casual than you do in ranked and yet I still enjoy every second of this game.
Competitive players who think games shouldn't be balanced for "bad casuals" are the very fanbase that slowly erode the enjoyability of games through unending complaints.
The casual fanbase are the majority and crafting the game around the opinions of "better players" will not lead to a fair and balanced game. It's fair and balanced when casuals have the ability to compete enjoyably while experienced players can still use their "game sense" to win.

It's not about my preferred playstyle. That's why I keep saying that you don't understand people's arguments at all. Not advocating for wall hacks isn't a "playstyle" argument. It's not wanting the main cheat that has broken so many FPS games to be sanctioned by a game that I don't want to die.
Regardless of what it is and no matter how egregious there will always be who blindly defend it just to be different. Let me ask you if recon/wall hacks weren't already in the game, would you be asking for it to be added? I guarantee you the answer would be no. But you defend it because you think that whatever is already in the game is best just because the devs put it there.
Devs make mistakes too. That's the purpose of patches, betas and "launch-feedback" channels. To correct those mistakes. I remember a bunch of people blindly defending decisions in Halo Infinite like the AA balance, performance issues, input lag, lack of maps etc and it had 270k players at its peak.
Within it a month it lost 124k people. A month later another 80k. Within 6 months the game barely cracked 15k total on Steam. If that's what you want then keep blindly defending mechanics and decisions that push people to other games and then repeat the cycle for the next game and wonder why the same thing keeps happening.

Recon isnt why so many people left. It's because a vocal minority cries on the internet to nerf everything and the devs listened for whatever reason so people left.
If the result of people bitching and moaning on the internet and here is the game dies in the pursuit of making their class perfect or achieving "balance" then so be it. This game was wildly popular in both betas and immediately after release. Its when the cancerous attitudes of the player base emerged crying for nerfs to EVERYTHING that things ended up how they did.

Its the initial hype phase of a game that was very successful in its beta phases. After a couple weeks past full release the honeymoon phase ended and a lot of people noticed all the little things that were annoying/badly balanced etc. It's normal for games to drop a good amount of active player numbers, if it keeps dropping tho it's an issue with the game

I have come to ask the creator of the game to remove the recognition. In a tactical game, having a cheat system should not be available. It is impossible to surprise the opponent if it is possible for him to see every movement.
Another problem exists. Being able to play with three same classes kills the game. When death is no longer positive, because three mediums are resurrected and healed in a loop. It's like playing against three teams instead of one. All classes must be compulsory, at least classified.
If this is not done, the game will never be competitive.
Otherwise, you must remove the heavy and light characters.
The game is good, and the more time passes, the more I have the feeling that the game is going to be an anthem.

Dfib isn't that OP to be its own special skill like a lot of people ask for tbh but there's clearly an issue when an entire team of 3 becomes 6 due to every one of them being able to revive each other once, there's 2 approaches to a fair defib, one is just removing the i-frames when u get revived by defib, another can be than if you get revived by a defib, your own defib enters on cooldown from 0, this will also prevent those endless reviving teams by letting defib working exactly as it works right now
FCAR, just go look at the dps, it does waaay more damage than AKM even when the game tells than they are the same and it does have a way more faster TTK for a weapon that has way better firerate, better sight and its easier to control, there's just no reason to pick AKM when FCAR exist, it should be balancing between those two, something than one does better than the other but the only good thing about AKM is the amount of bullets which usually doesn't matter cuz FCAR kill a M in like 10 body shots, it can erase Lights with only 6 bullets and like 4 headshots, AKM needs like 2-3 bullets more to kill each class

Halo Infinite is a poor comparison to THE FINALS.
Infinite was a greedy half-finished mess of a game lacking in both multiplayer and campaign. It's just now barely becoming what it should've been at launch and I'm deeply disappointed with it. Corporate greed and consumer ignorance at it's best. It deserves to be forgotten and the Halo title stripped from it's name.
I've been a huge Halo fan since it first released and I had it on Xbox throwing LAN parties with the homies. I followed the Bungie Weekly Updates. I was there when Halo 2 released, which is where I got my name from creating my first Xbox Live account, and I was there when the BXR combo became the meta and everyone abused it. Some of my best online multiplayer memories are from Halo 1, 2, and 3. THE FINALS is some of the most fun I've had in online multiplayer shooter since those games and a few others.
You say I'm blindly defending mechanics and decisions that pushes people away, but you are perpetuating the very attitude that actually ruins a game.

@blissful bridge And yet many of the competitive ranked games are the most popular. Look at the leaderboards of both Steam and console and you'll see that your arguments don't hold water. But you can find plenty of games that didn't address problems that died a quick death and for every last one of them there were stans like you and @golden blade who defended all the decisions and told people to stop asking for changes until they looked around them and found out they were the only ones left.

the average player doesn't even know what nerfs happened or anything about the game, they likely left cus the game has no text chat or custom games, optimization issues, random cheaters, aim assist drama, still feels very unpolished in a lot of ways, etc. Recon meta is definitely stale and exhausting to play against. Also the fact that the game doesn't separate solo Q from lobbied parties which means you're constantly going against sweaty comm ttv tryhards even as a solo player. There's a lot of issues this game needs to fix.

You can't defend drastically changing the game and nerfing / removing abilities over ranked meta strategies as a competent "balancing" debate.
You will never find balance in ranked modes, and there will always be another chosen meta strategy.
Poor SBMM and Cheaters always need to be fixed to craft a more enjoyable experience.
Recon Sense just needs to be made non-togglable with a 30 second cooldown and a louder audio cue to help balance it and stop the meta of spam scanning indefinitely which nerfs camping and chasing with the ability.
The most popular competitive titles are also generally agreed to have the most incredibly toxic fanbases.
Their popularity is based on the clout of rank and not the enjoyability of the gameplay.
Hello Embark, I think im talking for almost everyone when I say we need an add friend on discord or steam button, we need somehow to be able to add player we encounter ingame and talk with them. Once you get a good team you cannot say goodbye after a game you cannot give them your discord or steam account you cannot ask them when are they gonna be online again you cannot do anything and besides whenever they are online you cannot know if they are in a lobby or in a game already it doesn't say.. it only say online.... if its to much hustle to add a chatbox , then please let us share out steam/discord accounts ingame so people that played with us can add us. Anything popular always has a toxic fanbase. Even the "casual" ones. Fortnite is famous for toxicity and yet it's casual. This utopia of non toxic mp games doesn't exist and hasn't existed since the days of the server browser.

Recon Senses needs to be made non-togglable with a 30 second cooldown and a louder audio cue.
This would stop the indefinite spam scanning which would help nerf the camping and chasing abuse of the ability.
This doesn't remove or over-alter the ability, but instead helps balance it while keeping it's style and function.

The heavys 'nuke' needs to be removed ASAP. I get the whole selling point of the game is using your enviroment and ingenuity blah blah blah but it has the ability to one shot a entire lobby. Its especially broken in the last round of a tourney, if your holding a point, you can essentially spawn camp them with recon + nukes.

@deft moth the nerf was good, but the propane canister nuke is virtually unaffected because the weight doesn't slow it down (unlike mines for example, which do slow it down)

Already been made very hard to nuke since C4 Adds mass to the prop its sticked to, making it very heavy and not be throw even 10-15 feet
I honestly don't have the same issues with RPGs and nukes anymore. It's easy to tell when they've got them, you can anticipate the throw and move to avoid. You no longer get hit with the giant fire barrel bomb from like 50 feet away

Off topic, I just joined the discord. I cannot stand being put into multiple ongoing matches in a row when everytime I’m placed on the worst team. One game I was only in for 30 seconds before it was over, they had $40,000 banked and the team I was placed on had none. Please fix the matchmaking or give us an option to turn off joining ongoing matches
this is probably due to how often people leave matches since they dont need anything from staying to the end

@blissful bridge Yes there is one objective but there are multiple ways to get to it and attack it. Normally you have to either scout or gameplan to cover the different options a team chooses. Recon means you know exactly where they are. I'm sure lights and better players like not getting prefired all match. @smoky storm giving grapple 2 charges would cause a "keep away" meta play with the cashbox. Grapple needs a faster cooldown, but not 2 charges. C4 has been nerfed enough and there are better ways to balance without always trying to nerf a gadget. The barrels need reduced health and maybe a slightly larger hitbox. This would further nerf the "nuke" tactic and make it more easily without nerfing the gadget. The heal beams need to have a reduced "ammo" count or an increased cooldown which would help nerf constant heal trains. I agree with a slightly further evasive dash buff.
@glad delta the hill you defend is removing an ability from the game instead of understanding and finding balance. The problem with recon senses is it's meta use in ranked due to it's ability to be spammed indefinitely because it's togglable. It's overpowered because it's togglable and not because it's "wall-hacks".
I feel like you not understanding balancing and your vigorous defending of a hill you have no stakes or ties in and the fact that most of your commentary on recon comes with other bad takes serves only to weaken your arguments. At this point you're just fighting for your honor.

i dont know what's keeping light back, but all I know is I started playing light less and less since the recon, fcar, defib mmm meta. I didn't even care that mines, RPG and nukes one-shot me, I still think they should. Can't say for sure recon is the main problem, but its definitely part of the problem. the things that frustrate me the most as a light, is being beamed in the head 6-7 times in a row from mp5/cloakers and fcar users who prefire you.
I think wall hack abilities aren't good for any FPS game. The only exception is widows ultimate in overwatch, because shes literally a glass cannon that is usually so far away from the fight it almost doesn't matter. also, she can't spam it

You give it a general direction like Visualize Audio in Fortnite and nerf the range to around 30 meters. You know that enemies are close, you know the direction somewhat but you don't know if they are above or below and you can't prefire with it. I'm for removing recon entirely, but I know that won't happen. So my suggestion for a rework is make it sonar pulse like recon grenades, so it only shows you a snapshot, and not full on wall hacks. Maybe 3 pulses, with a 30-40 meter range, and one-use toggle with a long cool down.

The double barrel should be replace with another shotgun that’s easier to balance as if you try to nerf the double barrel it would become useless, buffs might make it too annoying for casuals to deal with

while i personally think recon is fineish i'm down for a few ideas:
- a set of 3 rechargeable pulses that reveal position at time of activation (same distance as current)
- the same thing we have now but only usable at maximum charge
- the same thing we have now, reduced range, with a longer charge time
the thing is, with the ttk as low as it is in this game, it's not really that much of a balance breaker, like at all, since info doesn't actually help you win a fight like guns do
people asking for a recon nerf either drastically overestimate the viability of corner peeking or refuse to actually learn to counterplay it most of the time, but as for the information it gives you (wallhacks) i will admit it's the most powerful tool in the game right now and i agree the recharge being as short as it is is bullshit

@stiff spire idk if I would nerf heavy just yet but the biggest buff I want for light is much faster healing out of combat. There's no reason that light should have 150 health and still have to wait forever to re-engage because of the healing time. It should start much, much quicker than it does
@autumn widget that's a decent idea and I would maybe think about using that gadget instead of the invisibility perk and keep the vanish bomb. I could see invisibility become very toxic when/if recon gets removed.

@autumn widget I think the double barrel needs to have reduced range and a longer reload time. This would keep it's damage but make using it much more risky as you would have to get closer, and if you miss your shots you'll be caught reloading so you'd have to skillfully aim instead of letting it rip. The weapon is very close to being balanced, but still needs just a slight nerf that keeps it's style and function while promoting skill and tactic in it's use.
@fossil walrus is already preparing to complain about invisibility if recon gets removed. I guess we should just remove both of the abilities now right?

Works just like a sonar grenade and anyone pinged is scanned for 3 seconds and gets the warning “Detected” has 2 charges with a cooldown of 12.5 seconds, maximum range is 70 meters
(Keeping it as it is but cooldown wouldn’t work as well due to well… it still being a wall hack)
Cloak: idk what to say for this, making work somewhat like spy from TF2 cloak might work? Where the user cant attack right after decloaking?

We seriously need an opacity slider on revive and objective markers. Fading on ADS is inadequate. These markers obstruct the players vision far too much and far too often.

Remove Recon
Recon doesn't just counter cloak. It does so much more which is the problem. We don't care that it can see cloaks. We care that it can see us across the map. We care that no matter what flanks or anything else, the recon users will be prefiring whatever corner/doorway we come in. There is no element of surprise. That is the problem with it. Not because of cloak. Because of everything else. And realistically, I think the cries of recon need to be heard but that isn't the only thing about medium that is too strong. It is the pairing of Recon + FCAR + Defib. There isn't much else that you can run that will provide the same or similar value except some heavy builds. But atleast the heavy builds feel fair to play against and take some imagination to make work. Lights.... Lights are in a very dark place right now when compared to mediums and heavies.

mostly nobody used recon in the beta to the point where it became an epidemic, or on release until probably a week or 2 ago, I doubt most people even tried it until they had literally everything unlocked. It was one of the last thing I unlocked because I had no idea what it did and didn't want to waste VRS. Lots of people complained about cloak in the beta too, at one point you could just cloak endlessly, with no cool down and no sound effect, and it got HARD adjustments several times over all 3 betas (with a fraction of the player base using it). I wouldn't shed a tear if both recon and cloak were removed, but I know that won't happen, at the very least they need fucking reworks, not fucking value adjustments.
@woeful perch and as a light main that doesn't use cloak, I can't escape to regen, it just doesn't happen, that recon fucker will drop everything and anything to chase me 3 buildings away to get the team wipe.

You're introducing a new ability with your suggestion instead of balancing what is currently there.
This will cause the ability to be used in new ways thanks to it's massive rework and we will have to wait for the new meta that it creates to be seen before it's balanced. You can't introduce another ability that works completely different from what it is replacing and not expect a new meta strategy to develop.

It's not completely different. The goal is to give people information about where others are on the map. Unlike wall hacks, Fortnite visualize audio tells you the direction of where people are when they are close but you have to find where they are yourself. Idk how that's not a good change without taking it out altogether. You would still have sonar grenades anyway.

That completely changes the ability. Which is not a good change. We are trying to balance the ability without completely changing it. That's my opinion on how to balance an ability. It should be changed to what I'm suggesting before completely reworking or removing it. If it can't work as a non-togglable long cooldown ability then more drastic measures can be taken if it's still overused as a powerful meta afterwards. Starting with making it a pulse, limiting range, and more until a balance is found, but I think my suggestion would work in all honesty.
The reason why I suggest my opinion is because my change is simple and totally reworking the ability is far more complicated. It would make much more sense to take small steps towards troubleshooting a solution instead of tearing apart and rebuilding the entirety of an ability.

the effect doesnt show for someone unless they are behind a wall or object
which means it doesnt actually counter invis since the only time it shows invis people is when theyre already behind a wall or object anyways

Recon is extremely strong in long ranges, you can basically know where the enemy team respawned, from where they're gonna attack you. By the time the recons are in the glitch grenades/trap range, it's already too late lol. It needs to be a Bloodhound in apex-type scan, with a huge cooldown and no charges

im not missing the point, how you think glitch grenade is a good recon sense counter is beyond me. You would have to know where the medium with recon sense is, and at that point he already knows where you are. recon doesn't even work on cloak unless the cloaked user is behind a wall.
Recon isn't keeping cloak in check, my eyes and ears are.
Recon might be able to get first shot most times, but a skilled player can counter with movement dodging and aim.
It needs some balancing, but most opinions about it here are extreme exaggerations about it ruining the game for even being here in the first place.
It's extremely toxic to outright call for the removal of an ability without attempting to find balance first.
I'm here to remind everyone of that truth.

@north siren I disagree. I think triple turret is fine but the turrets need a better hitbox so they keep their power while being much more easy to hit especially in the heat of combat. This makes them able to be destroyed easier and quicker, but keep their style and function while preserving creativity for teams to be triple turret loadouts. It'd be fair and help nudge it towards a better balance, as glitch grenades, glitch mine nukes, goo gun, and goo grenades can still be used to effectively counter a turret or three as it currently plays. Turrets are extremely easy to counter, but very hard to actually hit with a weapon. They just need a slightly bigger hitbox.

I can rarely even hear it activate, especially when theres shit going on, but I can usually hear a cloak pretty well, and I donno if it's because I play maxed with full RT, but I can usually see the cloak well enough to at least hit him once to deactivate it.
Two things plz make Seoul have permanent construction it’s so much better for everything. Cash out locations rotating around the map good fight zone. Crazy how without construction you can spawn at hospital and have to run to mall or the server room cash out and only have two ways to actually get there lol. An actual box of a map.

Likewise, why do you think recon always do wonder? We only had a glimpse of shadowy figure, approximate location not counting any hurdle box or cover, at peripheral vision only, with finite time and long cooldown.
With light build? Just equip silenced weapon, stun gun and cloak, camp and ambush, or pickup everyone leftover.

NERF C4/Breach nuking. It needs to be either instant tap on the barrel/cannister or not do full damage. instant killing a whole team before you can even see it is not viable

I think they should have both honestly.
The mines do damage in an AOE, but the Claymores will only do damage to what's in front of it.
They are both stealthy, but the claymores can be hidden more effectively around corners.
The mines are activated by stepping on them, and claymores can be tripped from further away.
I think both could work nicely together in the game and be used for different situations and tactics.
@median ibex AA definitely needs to find a balance to between where it was before and now. Console deserves just as much attention and balance as PC. I also support KBM for console. I'll always support freedom of choice. Those who are against console support are toxic to ignore balancing issues while they just scream "aim better", but they won't think "aim better" to themselves when it involves them fighting recon. Ignore them and keep posting your opinion.
@obtuse elbow smoke should definitely obscure tracking from recon, but not sonar, dart, or thermal. Fire and Gas should obscure recon and thermal, but not dart or sonar.
@remote citrus this is what I suggested for a nuke nerf, which is nerfing the tactic and not the ability. The barrels should have reduced health when an item is placed on them, making them one shot, also possibly slightly increasing the hitbox. This would nerf the tactic making it riskier without further debilitating the C4/Breach abilities. I just wish there was an ability you could use to counter the nukes by spotting them before they reach you..... 😛

Fun idea for a new abilities:
Usable buffs like an injection or a powerup: You can only use it on teammates. Give the Light a speed buff, the Medium an attack buff, and the Heavy a Defense buff. Could make it last like 10 seconds with a 45 second cool down. Help push your team or take a cashout.

like 375 hours light and like 95 hours medium. I don't use cloak, its cringe, just like I don't use recon. but cloak is a lot easier to deal with as either class than recon is which has basically no counter. cloak requires 1 bullet to disable.

It's a great idea. The game needs some type of injectable gadgets that can be used on both yourself and teammates.
I think that the ability should go to the light class and be a health buff / regen injectable that can be used on teammates.
This would buff the light class with extra health, and give them a teamplay gadget which is heavily needed.

Would like more info on the state of the 357 and any potential plans to change it in the future its a great gun but it feels strange right now the way the bloom works on it. From what i could tell strafing makes it more likely to shoot off shots to the side but its random to the point of sometimes you have 4 shots miss to the chest at medium range when strafing and adsing... also even standing still occasionally a shot will randomly fly of to the side almost behind you. crouch spam has no effect on the accuracy at all so you can just spam crouch constantly when using it ... the only thing that feels right is the close range hipfire accuracy and even that is probably a bit to good . There is no way to compensate when those shots do miss to because they go randomly really far off

@spare heath yes, revolver is the most fun medium gun, but it's so fucking inconsistent, and the damage drop-off is ridiculous. it has a random chance of just missing for no reason even if you and the target are standing still, and it suffers the same as the sniper does with the irons not lining up with the center of your screen, plus it has bloom, plus the terrible interpolation/netcode doesn't help either.

Recon would be ok if it has the handling of thermals in lights, I mean, you toggle it, it last X amount of seconds, and if you want to use it again, then you have to wait for the cooldown, which will be shorter if you dont use it for that long. Meanwhile, make the thermals get the handling of recon senses.

Think I've posted this before in this channel, but I hope that Embark do listen to it.
Embark should really stop nerfing things into the ground. The game has its own unique identity compared to the other shooters on the market.
With all the nerfs, it feels like the game is slowly losing its identity and uniqueness, making everything feel underwhelming. Well, if thats what your aiming for then thats good I guess.
Building destruction physics will probably be the only thing that will be left if they keep nerfing. Its a tight rope, and I hope embark can continue to keep the game alive to make it to season 2.
Buff light, slightly buff heavy, and leave medium as it is with some tweaks to the guns.

please god no. the game is so dogshit with everything overpowered on an individual level. it’s a TEAM shooter there’s no reason why i should be able to play like it’s cod and get away with it. it’s so boring and stale to just use and play against the same op shit every game with my brain off. i’d really enjoy if things were toned down so i had to actually play with my team, use proper teamplay and communication in order to win. in the first closed beta there was no lewis, xp-54, or FCAR and the game was SO much better

There should be a frag grenade indicator. Out of all the throwables, you can't hear it at all in the middle of a firefight.

Recon needs nerfing, Fix ADS sway not effecting bullet pathing (shots going to center of screen instead of where sights are), and make light have some viability in the meta, MMH MMM is dominant right now and needs to be changed ASAP
Recon in it's current state is fundamentally flawed. Make it a one-pulse sonar grenade scan with a 15-30 second cooldown and a hard cap of 100m radius or so. Make visible for teammates, and add detected alert for enemies caught in the scan. Removes the cheese of being able to see where people spawn and track them through walls while simultaneously adding teamplay. Bloodhound tackles this pretty well in Apex. It doesn't need to be removed but 100% needs to be completely reworked

Recon Senses needs to be made non-togglable with a 30 second cooldown and a louder audio cue.
This would stop the indefinite spam scanning which would help nerf the spawn tracking, camping, and chasing abuse of the ability.
This doesn't remove or over-alter the ability, but instead helps balance it while keeping it's style and function.

And console also... console is hit way worse. Devs tried to make it competitive nerfing fun guns, destroying aim assist, Enable crossplay without the Option to disable it (crossplay can't be turned off, even when you put it on off it finds pc players) etc..
@placid valley yeah, im nearly 40 too, battlepass Finished and I don't play ranked as it's the worst experience out of all games regarding solo queing and also that crossplay is turned on forcefully on console... so yeah I literally "finished" the game for me and it wouldnt matter if the fun guns would be usable on console.. Im boored, try to Pick Revolver, well no snap, unreliable Aa, so I drop it and run fcar. I try to play Modell shotgun, no snap, unreliable Aa, I drop it and play fcar... I choose fcar, get alot of kills because aa somehow still works on that gun and get boored quick because everyone runs it. Great experience!

I don't know what kind of persistence drives them to insist on incorporating a cheating kind skill. They sit there in silence, watching players leave, along with their money and future. There are also many other issues, like mnk, cheaters, bugs. Even though they can't be used currently, they should clearly talk about their direction to the players. After reaching the maximum level in this game, there is nothing additional, just boring repetitive matches. How did they have confidence to release such shit things? Just... can't believe they just let it happened. So brave, so stupid. lol

The thing is. Devs rely on their data rather then feedback here. Some community Manager also said that it doesnt matter if someone posts a feedback and if that feedback gets alot of thumbs up because they dont choose by how popular a Statement is... they rely on data....
Well what's this channel here for then? Relying on data didnt help out, it made the experince even worse... All people complained about recon senses and it even got slightly buffed lol. Nuke still exists with Red barrels.
They could easily change that with changing c4 damage when it is attached to a portable Arena object.
Also they couldve nerfed recon with the distance. And not showing the outline of the characters so one doesnt know if it is a light or heavy.

buff heavy rocket launcher back; keep the light buffs. if a light dies to a rocket launcher, its a situational awareness issue.

If they'd check the servers manually for reported cheaters they could'v increase their player base and revenue by at least 20%, so sad they rely only on their anti-cheat layers, I know so many players who had stopped playing because of cheaters but hey, just read steam reviews where every second review contains cheaters complain headline.

@placid valley i would love it if they fixed the servers, making shots register properly and the damage being always 100% as it should be would definitely have me playing other weapons, just using the sniper rifle right now and thats the only liable gun for me

Remove pick up priority/fix hitbox of objects
To be honest, if you're playing as a light, you have 100% invisibility time, being seen at 30-50% still gives you a chance. However, they've now reduced the cloak duration to around 70% or lower. If you still continue to be detected by recon, there's virtually no chance at all. 150 hp is just way too low. In addition, the startup cost also reduces the chance of survival from shotgun. Their last patch was responsible for medium players (light and nuke nerf), but it was very bad for the other two classes that are persecuted by medium.
An easy buff to knives(I don't know why it didn't already work like this) is to be able to hold a right click and choose when to let go instead of a set time.
Fatboy do just fine i get they light thing though they need a like bump in health 175-200 and @fossil walrus yeah that’s be a decent buff for knives @quick coyote and yeah 200 too much but 175 isnt crazy at all
lights health is tuned perfectly. if someone really needs the crutch to be effective, they can get a medium with healing gun—something that would be a nightmare if the light had 200 health.

the stun gun is very easy to counter, place your crosshair on the enemy and shoot (unless they run away)

If they change that then I'll be using mainly knives. It's the light's most enjoyable weapon.
@dusk vector the main reason why stun is so annoying is because of the invisibility. If light only had vanishing bomb for that then it would be harder to rely on stuns. When they try to use it face to face they lose 70% health before they have a chance to change weapons. Just make light heal much quicker out of combat
Also I do like the suggestion someone else had about giving light a rocket propelled breaching charge similar to Ash from Siege. Could be a great replacement for Cloak

what u think about these changes / qol features?
We should be able to load into practice with teammates and allow us to switch enemy sides for a full testing environment
Private matches/tournaments to allow us to play with friends
A single node should be in the middle of each map in ranked tournament to allow us to swap gadgets. The game has a rock, paper, scissors gameplay style (smoke > fire > gas). And the random map modifiers can completely fuck over builds (looking at you 'dead go boom' and melee).
Slide while sprinting should let you stay crouched. No idea why it forces you back into sprinting mode when you can just press sprint again to achieve this.
An option to prioritize grabbing things vs reload.
Defib needs a nerf + a lockout on the same person for a duration to combat triple medium teams.
Turret needs an hp nerf
Vanish bomb should be twice the duration on teammates to lean into support options for Light.
Smoke should be 1.5-2x length

Games solid but gotta remove where if you leave it takes battle pass XP and regular xp giving you 0 even if you spent the only 10 minutes you had before work or school playing why play if you may have to leave in the middle of the match cause the game will punish you with 0 XP on both for having a real life to go do.
Can I have some feedback on the discord instead of the game? Can we have H/M/L discussion text channels that are separate from the build channels? Because currently the build channels are a hang out discussion room for each class where any talk of builds is insta buried.
i dont know what private matches are 30 mins and you are in a queue for it, it makes no sense to me
im ok with it keeping you sprinting, but it needs to work as i run and slide, sometimes it doesnt go off and i just crouch
there is an option, you can change it in the settings, they added it i think last patch

Recon for me should be pulses like the sonar grenade, decrease the circu of the sonar and have the recons sonar be pulses with a bigger circum
sniper needs a fire rate increase on the 2nd and 3rd shot as i notice its delayed or off
Well Dead Go Boom should have a delay so if you have the reflexes, you can avoid the explosion. I don't know why they made it as they've done.
Defib does need a nerf but they could leave it as it is if it replaced Recon and Recon was removed. That way you couldn't have a healing beam and a defib at the same time.
The Vanishing Bomb change is a good one if they decide to replace Cloak with something else. I personally like some kind of breaching rocket so that lights can flank and play off angles better a la Ash/Zofia
The turret nerf is fine but also why can it track lights that are dashing so perfectly? Maybe some lag there would be a better alternative.
I find that the dps on the automatic weapons like the AK and FCAR are too high compared to the other options, so what reason is there to use something else? The AKM and FCAR do everything great and are easy to use, while the alternatives are more difficult to use or more niche while ALSO performing worse. The 1887 kills slower in close range, where a shotgun is designed to perform while having a very punishing reload, the GL is forced into awkward ranges being an explosive projectile weapon while having a low dps.
I am solidly of the opinion that universally applicable weapons should perform worse in damage compared to specialized weapons, as it stifles gameplay expression and diversity.

i dont think you understood, private match uses online servers like you are looking for a game instead of it being off the actual online section, they literally queue you for a lobby in order to play private match and give you 30minutes to be in that lobby. It doesnt make any sense to me why its timed and why i need to queue for a lobby to be in a private match, why not just make it separate like other games do

People are just queueing with 3 mediums on purpose. Only one person takes recon, and they can share the locations between themselves. Recon is just a lame design for solo queue players. Only role lock can force people use different classes, but as I said before, it's just thing forcing players to be killed by the other better class.
can we get sprint slide to allow us to stay crouched instead of defaulting back to sprint automatically? I've heard recoil is more manageable while crouched and would love to not have to press crouch multiple times just because I was sprinting before i pressed it the first time.

a cool feature would be something like a thumbs up or kudos on players at the end of the match. this could then allow you to thumbs up players that you played well with to increase your chances of matchmaking with them again in the future

If they remove recon and replace it with defibrillator it fixes most of that. Can't use defib and recon at the same time. I also don't understand why it has so much utility but some of that would be fixed with changes to other roles. Like for instance glitch grenades should ignore aps turrets imo.
Also what about this change to Cloak? Instead of invisibility the light is completely visible when it's active but they make no sound, don't trigger devices and ignore turrets. To me that would make the class better in a team concept as a flanker. Kind of like Nokk from Siege

I think that locking classes is a good thing or at least locking the ability, is very boring playing against 3 turrets/healing beam. Also, light is a very stupid class, too powerfull for and require 0 skills. Stun and glitch are gadget that you cant counter and give free kills to light players
What if glitch grenade/mine amplified dmg by 1.2x?
I feel like Light buffs need to get mad creative before we truly figure out how to make them useful to teams on average. Yes, the cracked players are good, but what can an average Light bring to your team?

the whole medium should be reworked imo. But there're too many things need to be changed. There's no reason having the best wep, support, utiliies in a same class. I dont think they will make it at once. So.. guess the game will still be unbalanced for the next few patches, if it don't die first.

It is 49 body and 98 headshot. Keep in mind it changed none of those required to kill L/M/H, so no TTK changes. It performs pretty much the exact same as before the buff.

I am currently in a game with multiple aimbotters trying to kill each other. Wonder why this games playerbase is 20% it was a month ago lol. Have seen the same aimbotter multiple times over the past week. Pretty sure reports do nothing anyways. Plus, people will keep partying with aimbotters because they aren't being punished for it.

I think scrapping recon sense and putting the defib in that slot would help a lot. In addition moving all of mediums movement utility (zip-line + jump pad) to light would reduce the hording of utility the medium class has at the moment.
This would make it so each class had a specific role to support the team (heavy = destruction, protection; medium = healing, area denial, recon; light = movement, harass/disruption)

The meta is just so stale atm with MMM recon defib, even nukes were funnier than this.
Combined with nothing worth playing for. Ranked is just a metric on how much you play the game and not how good you are makes it completely worthless to play. I am not a fulltime streamer so there is no point for me trying to compete against people who play 15hours a day.

I have many gamer friends that play multiple games at the same, so once they have reached level 40 and complete the battlepass they now are playing a lot more of the other games and barely play the finals.. the problem with all gaming communities is always complain about something, for me its lights (I'm old I can't react fast enough for the invs ones and get doublebarrel shot in the ass pretty easy) for other people could be the c4 barrel thingy for other triple M with, etc etc .... the thing is now we have all these discord and reddit and streamers and shit and people keep demanding stuff but in the majority of cases its more about themself the the whole game, most people want to personalize a whole game to their own teste and that's not possible... and EMBARK actually listen to their community and doing actually a pretty damn good job.. but yea there always be something we are not happy with but there also there always someone who is happy with that you don't like so yeah...I think we all need to chill out and ENJOY this magnificent and extremely fun game and let's not forget its 2 months old. So yeah I won't be worry about that the game is doing fine, cheers yo

I don't think there is a xim/ chronus detector for any game, like an anti cheat, but yeah, input based matchmaking and MKB support on consoles are a must.
