is this certain or just how you'd balance next patch? i think recon makes more sense as working better at a distance, give it crazy range but make it either stop working within a certain range or behave similar to the way depicted here. it'll give you vital information like which teams are where and how many are at any location w/o being able to be abused in gunfights on top of having a ton more synergy with sonar grenade as you'll have one meant for distance/team tracking and one meant for team use inside of engagements. if recon get's changed to this it basically becomes sonar except some small differences and w/o the info being conveyed to the full team...it would make it nearly unjustifiable as a specialisation pick compared to turret and beam

After playing this game for around 500 hours, i will not be playing it any longer until there is a significant balance update. I am and have always been one of the best controller players in most games i play(this is not about the aim assist nerf), i was top 500 on console in OW, Pred in Apex Legends, made over $10k last year in competitive earnings, and decided that ranked wasn't worth any amount of time in The Finals because the game is a joke rn. The balance team must have not even played it. Invis can full sprint with no indication of where they are(the audio in the game is absurdly loud 90% of the time) and given ther speed of lights along with getting one/two tapped by a double barrel shotgun after being compltely immobilized by a stungun is not competitive and theres no outplay. Getting rpged by a heavy as a light has no outplay. Nuke barrels, no outplay. triple medium stacks running defib and heal beam to pocket eachother, no outplay, and why in the world should immortal frames exist after defib, why do they get a chance because their teammate made a BAD MOVE, why do they go unpunished, and if its a heavy, see the above point. Why does recon sense allow for frame perfect beams for someone rounding a corner, its free wallhacks(not that theres ANY LACK of cheaters due to the joke of an anti cheat). Light is not even viable unless youre running invis stun shotgun because everything one taps you or out ttks you. In what world of balance should a gun with 50 bullets also do the most damage per round. Why do the lowest skill weapon in any fps(shotguns) usable from the same range as the smgs. Why does the ak have 36 bullets but the fcar only has 20(nerf ak, fcar does not need a buff). 50% of the game is unusable because the other 50% is so unbelievably OP that its not fun to use or play against. And whats the point of offering QnA testers to apply on your website just to never reply. Like do yall genuinely want your game to fail. The competitive scene is a joke

a couple issues that I have
the lh1's damage means that even if I get 5 body shots on a medium means they're not dead. even bumping the damage by 3 would make it feel better to use, esp because there are so many automatic weapons that do comparable damage at range, and very many 1 and 2 shot weapons for a light at close range

there's a bug where I can't shoot or use any of my gadgets until I die

thermal vision should be a tap to use, not to put in your inventory and use because by the time you need it you don't have time to pull your weapon out

Thermal vision has some graphical bugs when looking at an invisible person with no actual building or objects behind them--they are still invisible

Thermal vision has a really short distance you can use it on. Extending that to like more of a medium range would make it work a lot better

I really like this game but the balance is fucked and skewed way towards mediums and heavys and the meta is no skill strat with invis and shotgun/melee

I challenge you to name a successful fps in the last 10 years that hasnt had a competitve scene. Can't name one? Since OG CoDs, skill and competition to be one of the best players is what has driven FPS games to succeed, take apex for example. You hop on tiktok or twitch and see some clips of people 1v3ing or doing crazy movement, and your reaction is "damn i kinda wanna play apex now" so you hop on, you see a cool skin or two, you spend money, the game is successful. Now we have The Finals, a VERY good base for a game that will also die incredibly fast because your top level of players doesn't care to grind the game because it's not competitive or fulfilling. You think I'm the only one with this opinion? Delusional. Every FPS is inherently competitive and without competitive integrity the game will lose top players that give the game attention

I see most of your concerns about the meta having no counterplay like defibs , recon, and nukes. however lights aren't an issue and the double barrel while it is a little strong isnt good at all in this game. Idk what headphones you have but they are so loud while invis. dash is objectively the better agility to run as lights. also lights lose a 1v1 to every other class so their job isnt to get kills just to distrubt and clean up low health enemies. also ak is in a good spot at the moment and the fcar needs a balance change along w the lewis gun to bring it in line with other guns

I think there should be game modes with bigger party sizes, there are a lot of times where me and my friends want to play, but we have to many people and need to split into different VCs, a mode with bigger team sizes would be great for large groups to play together, and would be chaotic fun

The turrets are way too overpowered. One moment me and my squad will be taking a cash out then the next someone puts down a turret and now we can't reach the cash out for the rest of the timer. It's incredibly tanky and it hits ridiculously hard.

Okay so, why does ranked not have skill based match making?

I have recently found out that the ranked tournament game mode does not match with with teams of similar rank, only people on your team get matched to your rank. This is just, not a ranked mode? Why does it work this way?

I posted a video talking about it in media chat, and have independently tested what the video talked about :/ Im in bronze but other teams are sometimes even top 1000. With a game of 100k+ concurrent players this should not be an issue. (I did this by checking names agains the leaderboard)

ziplines placed in the firing range don't show the zip between the posts and you can only interact in the very centre or at the posts.
probably a known issue Shruge can't test zipline movement outside of a live game for now.

Things to fix:
Nuke dmg (I play heavy and it’s not fun to nuke or be nuked)
Enemy sounds (footsteps jump pads etc)
Light taser (class is bad but this is just op)
Comp rank (you should be able to see all enemy ranks when you load in + game needs to have better matchmaking)
Turret health (make it like double the aps[?] turret hp)
Med defib (could make it like a 10 second cooldown after being rezd urself)
Immunity frames (in a game that spawns you away from enemies it’s not needed)

I think the dagger needs some tweaks. The daggers aim assist is way too much at times, making me over shoot or under shoot the back stab. on top of that I think the backstab angles need to be slightly buffed so that you can aim around the shoulderblades and still hit the backstab. its really weird how much aim assist the knife has on PC, and almost always leads to misses on backstabs due to trying to aim for the back but then overshooting due to the aim assist completely turning you 180.

just played mt first match with goo gun, and i gotta say, it is the single worst thing i have ever seen implemented in to a video game. It absolutely ruined the match for everyone else. I honestly really think it should just be removed from the game untill you can come up with something better. @quick coyote @rustic bloom @rustic crown (not sure who to tag)

game is probably fun on pc, but not anymore on console if you want to run fun guns... my main wep, the medium shotgun is useless now, because well it has no aim assit and one needs to sweat more then the other players which use fcar, lmg with disc etc...

and no im not bad... im above average and i consistenly had 10+ kills in almost every game with the shotgun. now i barely get any kills anymore and no, its not because my aim is that bad, but because the disadvantage if i miss a shot, because all other main weapons still snap...

it was fcar and of course recon senses, the main combo everyone runs in diamond ranked now. the game was quick cash, the enemys werent bad, but fcar with the current aim assist is still as strong as before when an good or very good player plays it.

so yeah, as i said the aa nerf just made casual people loose more.. and im talking for my friends because they dont play the game anymore... and i lost alot of interest becasue i either need to run meta guns or get shredded because i cant counter those efficiently, not because of skill, but becasue of the huge disadvante regarding to aim assit.

either remove snapping completly or enable it for guns like revolver and medium shotgun, which arent used largely anyway and never where the issue in first place

@crude path first of all, i dont need it. but i want a balance between either all guns or a buff for the guns that arent used anyways and got nerfed because of the aim assit patch.

secondly you cannot compare apex to this game, the aim mechanics are waaay different. the shotgun there is broken with aim assit if you use it rightly, because it auto tracks. in the finals the shotgun doesnt auto track anymore, but guns like fcar etc. still do. thats my issue - and the issue for alot casuals who want to play other guns.

I almost feel like Defib and Healing Beam should swap places. Defib becomes a specilization and heal beam a gadget. Heal beam is in an ok spot, not too strong, not too weak. Yet Defib is a MUST pick. Medium only gets 2 gadgest slots really.

I've seen a lot of console people saying they are having a hard time hitting shots since the AA nerf. And from my own observations I've seen console player's K/D each game be markedly worse on average since the nerf. It's pretty crazy that the multiplayer fps with maybe the highest TTK has almost no discernable aim slowdown the weakest rotational AA in the industry right now.

Another silent nerf to controller players that i don't hear people talk about was that lowering magnetism decreases recoil pattern compression. As any controller vet knows rotational AA and slowdown helps to "crunch" your bullet spread when you're in the AA bubble. But with it AA being so weak now it makes being accurate tougher. It's already hard enough to control the wild recoil on some of these guns with an analog stick.

If I wanted to play this game competitively I would just switch to M&K at this point for sure. It's clearly the best input now.

Once the matchmaking gets fixed in ranked, there should be some more modes for casuals. Not too much to the point that you’re just copying cod, but some party modes like saxton hale from tf2 or zombies turned from bo2.

I personally use both PC and console. Aim assist should have only been changed on the PC. It is ten thousand times easier to aim using mnk—it is literally a point and click adventure. There were many people complaining about controller users being too strong, but those individuals have no clue just how terrible their hand eye coordination is

Light:
Should get faster regenration out of combat to improve their harass-playstyle.

Someone else mentioned a stimshot item which could also work out instead of changing the regen timer. Maybe even make it so you can choose to give that stim to a teammate instead of using it only on yourself.

The sniper could use some love aswell. Not too sure about in what way tho, since that could easily make it too strong. Some experimentation with firerate might be a good first step imo.

M11 is in a weird spot too, it technically is slightly stronger than the xp-45 up close but overall still significantly worse. Maybe enhance the close-range capabilities even more so there is a clear difference between the two.

Sword should be able to hit multiple opponents with the charge attack. (The reverse of heavies hammer)

Medium:
After getting resurrected by defib you should not have invulnerability.

If you get defibbed as a medium you should have your own defib go on cooldown to prevent chain defibs.
OR
Make it so defib isnt instant but just significantly shortens the regular revive-time. Like a sped up version of the normal revive where youd have to keep facing the downed-player trophy.

In addition a reduced effect for multiple healing beams on the same target would be good aswell. One beam heals for 100%, two beams would heal for more than 100% but less than 200%.

A change for recon sense also wouldnt hurt. Maybe make it so it functions similar to thermal vision of light. Where you have to pull out a tablet to activate it and it stays activated for a set amount of time and goes on cooldown afterwards. Also make it pulse every 5 seconds instead of a continuous vision. Each pulse would outline enemies for 1.5 seconds.

Heavy:
Hammer horizontal swings should be able to hit multiple opponents. (The reverse of lights sword)

Performance:
Some performance and optimization improvements are very needed aswell.

Melee AA should be toggleable.

your game is so much fun embark. the only thing i’d like the suggest is to reduce the amount of lasers on the vegas map at 1 AM. for tournaments, it’s very frustrating as the players cannot steal. The same for casual, too.

Please add harsher penalties to leavers, just had 2 chinese players (I'm EU so idk how that happened) on my team and both left. Now I'm currently 1v9ing and stuck here for fear of a penalty myself. 😦

Ngl this aim assist nerf was a bad thing it just made it harder for honest players to combat the cheaters. People using xim and zen will already have the precision of mnk so any aim assist even nerfed will make little to no difference on top of that they run anti recoil scripts. Now if u go to an average all the way to top 500 player they now have to work much harder to pull ahead in the gun fights against these people. And diamond rank they are infested everywhere. A large majority of people are using these devices in diamond plus ranked @tame pivot

Hello! here are my notes

GAMEPLAY:

Some way to observe enemy players, like a killcam we can opt into on a per-death basis "press x to watch killcam", would be a much better way to confirm whether players are cheating in lobbies. Right now it's very difficult to confirm cheats.

I think the motion sensor + explosive canister exploit with the grappling hook is proof that being able to grapple canisters is honestly not too powerful and I think should be introduced as a feature WITHOUT need for a motion sensor, grapple is the weakest of the 3 specializations right now and this would be a fun way to buff it. I'll admit, I've had a lot of fun with the exploit and It'll be sad to see it go. It's also beautiful in a way how perfectly the current exploit behaves, like the grapple is super clean and follows the canister perfectly it's already not buggy.

I think cloak is a little over tuned currently and creates a really dissatisfying gameplay interaction. Being able to shoot the same frame invisibility starts to fade-out is really frustrating, as you really get blindsided for the first few shots. In the case of the double-barrel, that basically means you're already dead (nani?) Being able to recloak immediately is rough to fight too, and being able to reload whilst invisible is also soooo strong. the invis warble sound could be much louder too.

I think, while scoped, that RPG should have its full accuracy and not have any random deviation. Being able to precisely hit important cables and ziplines at range is what made RPG really good for teamplay.

Enemy footsteps are SO quiet right now, even heavys have been sneaking up behind me at a full sprint and I am none the wiser. I play a lot of sword, so I'm shooting myself in the foot for saying I should be louder... but the general player base will benefit. Maybe make melee weapons give you a quieter footstep? (copium)

GAME IN GENERAL:

Team text chat would be so, so useful. The team voice chat, even when it is fixed and fully functional, is not enough for communication and is also uncomfortable for lots of people myself included. I'd just like to say good job to my rando teammates without having to use my voice, or maybe ask them to shoot a hanging balloon of stuff for me since I have a sword.

More versatile use of the AI voices is like the only way not paying VAs can be justified. If you're so excited about this tool please use it in ways that a VA couldn't fulfill. As it stands, the AI voices are a cost cutting measure and don't add anything exciting to the experience. Make them dynamic! Let people choose team names using premade words like its a name on Wizard 101 (to prevent profanity) it could be a LOT of fun... but right now it doesn't come off as anything but a cost saving measure.

Also give light a market gardener, you know what that is I know you do. 1 shot medium and lights when airborne from jump pad, zipline, or grapple, does daggerish damage if grounded. God that would be so much fun but I know you've made a lot of light weapons and gadgets recently so y'all have priorities on the others i'm sure.... but some day pls

The cloak is the only thing that lights have going for them if you want balance for the game nerf the db for casual players and nerf the aim penalty while stunned from then you have to nerf the nukes on heavy by making it so when blowing up canisters it only does the dmg of the canister not the c4, mine, or charge. Then nerf recon sense slightly maybe by making it pulse or decreasing its uptime. Also reverse the aim assist patch and start banning people using any hardware and or software that allows unfair advantage over other players. They can detect people that use these devices it is not hard they choose not to ban them.

Well I did try to rat an objective that would've put me into qualifying, but red team came by despite the other vault not being planted, killed me after I killed remaining purple, and didn't even cap the cashout themselves. I'd think some teams would want the 1 player guy in the tournament for easy later games. I guess I'm not as good as whoever Oceanzilla is.

I havent looked it up or anything but I need to know if skill based matchmaking is a thing because I really dont want to be that guy but when I play ranked its like my teamates just picked p the game and the enemies are literal pros. every sinlge game I play is flooded with twitch streamers. on top of that I played a ranked game with my 1 one friend and our random teamate was literally top 500 diamond at the time we were in BRONZE 4. can someone make this make sense

Let’s be real dash is only good against bad teams or if they just completely break or ankles. Against people who know what they are doing they won’t even get close enough to do that stuff grapple is garbage ngl u can do some trick shots and lucky escapes that is about it. Light really only has invisible powers in their kit as a viable option that is why it can’t be nerfed. They way to push lights into the meta is to nerf the things for the causal player base like the db then nerf the actual problem the stun gun. Then nerf heavy by making it not possible to nuke any more. And then slight tweak recon. Reverse the aim assist patch keep no aim assist for invisible targets only good change out of the patch. Then start banning people who use third party devises with anti recoil scripts

Remove Defibrillator invulnerability frames. This will force players to defib in safe places for a proper heal, and punish people for instant reviving out in open combat. Especially since other classes have to manually take a trophy and take 6 seconds to revive someone already.

Invisibility and Recon both need a rework.

Invisibility is useless versus people with good monitors and good eyesight and overpowered versus the opposite, which is terrible from an accessibility standpoint.

Recon invalidates any strategy that isn't "push 3v3 and aim better" which kind of means that lights aren't viable.

Dead go boom is good when you are holding the cashout imo, the rest are moreso hindrances and griefs to the players with little obvious use. Low Gravity is insanely annoying, especially since some special events occur slightly before they are announced, so you can frequently end up going to a jump pad, getting low gravity event, and being in the air for 3 hours doing nothing as you eat the bullets of the entire server.

LIGHT BUILDS:

-Feel a little undertuned in comparison to Mediums and Heavies, feels a little lacking in suvivability, either give an extra small little bump to their health (25-50?) OR maye just reduce the timer till their regen kicks in and nudge up their regen speed. Something to make their skirmish-y solo kinda in and out 1v1 playstyle to feel more sustainable, If you're caught up in a teamfight or directly aim dueling with another player then you're screwed, even if you're smart enough to bail by the time you disengage your hp is likely so low that a light breeze can knock you out. I cant recall how many times I've disengaged only to get caught up in a nearby explosion or get clipped by crossfire if I was skirmishin in a particular area and then i'm gone. It makes their use case feel very niche, and even in the area they're built to excel in, they oft feel underpowered

-Also feel like the grapple hook is a bit undertuned in comparison to the other light specializations, especially the dash - as a movement tool it feels like it should be used to facilitate getting in and out of 1v1s and skirmishes and repositioning to trickier locations much faster, but due to its slightly longer CD/lack of multiple charges, it feels completely overshadowed by the dash. With the right timing, stack management and careful maneuvering a crafty enough player can dash most places a player can grapple, barring some exceptions with a lot more verticality to them. Either reduce the cooldown or give two charges, would make it feel snappier while keeping it a slightly slower/more committed movement option for skirmishes compared to the dash in exchange for providing more positioning utility and movement range. I think that'd help it feel unique and versatile enough to pick it over the dash. Could also be worth making the grapple capable of latching onto launched throwables but maybe that in combination with what I've already proposed may be too much lmao

-If Throwing Knives are supposed to be a precision weapon, why is there random spread introduced when sprinting/airborne?? I wanna use the weapon more but it is so frustrating to have such harsh spread when moving completely undermine the whole point of the weapon, especially when you already have to consider the arc of the projectile when throwing at range. Also believe the throwing speed needs increasing. The weapon already has a high enough skill ceiling/difficulty of use, it's a precision weapon with a physical projectile that travels at its owns peed with its own arc. dying mid fight because you were halfway through the throw animation is a very frustating cherry on top. I've lost so many skirmishes because I've been shot just miliseconds away from finishing the throw, feels bad.

The Cashout box not capturing capture if it's currently being contested, if the meter is full, it waits until the capture attempt stops then sees who has control of it. A really fun addition would be if players from different teams could keep holding the box until one of them dies and the other gets the capture

Bugs:
The control scheme easily lets me rebind the "System Menu" key, but it doesn't fully update. The new key doesn't open or close the system menu, I still need to use Escape to close the menu, and I can't rebind Escape to Sytem Menu again after changing it away, as Esc cancels the current rebind.

Impossible to play casually solo

  • the skill range of teammates is heavily variable, leading to frustration
  • every other game players are running 20+ kills or dealing insane beam DMG, and I want to say these are cheaters.
    - BUT even if they aren't, maybe have a stronger MMS for quick play gamemodes.
  • Nuke strat is ridiculous, it requires minimal risk and offers high rewards, even team wipes in an instant time to kill
  • I don't know if this was an update or somehow i got used to it, but the cloak noises are more distinct which help, I do say it feels better
    - However I still believe the shotgun for the L class is being overused, it makes it hard to play as L since you can be one shot in a scenario involving close quarters (i.e. holding cashout inside a building)
  • No one listens to in-game VC or has it on, leading to a lack of communication and losing in places where it could've been easily won. Suggest adding a text function (although I understand it would be difficult to implement if you were to have explicit censors as an option or requirement)
  • Back on to the point of cheaters, PLEASE, strengthen your anticheat or blacklist the program most are using. I forgot the name but it's the program originally meant for those with disabilities if I'm not mistaken. It should be easy to find by looking at YT videos regarding cheating.
  • Grapple on the light class is a little awkward. Most notable in the alleyways of Monaco. It leads to me getting stuck, or wasting a grabble in a clutch moment, leading to a loss.

This list and other issues shared by the community have made this game extremely hard for me to enjoy. The rage to happy ratio is through the roof with this game.

Current Major Problems (IMO):
-contestant profile can be bugged out, cant unequip charm/sticker
-game always kick you out one time in a match after a while after the game is first launched, then you never get kicked again
-dagger attack animation can just disappear when attacking, very annoying as you cannot tell if it can hit
-unnecessary unmentioned "nerf" to dagger's secondary attack, can't hold anymore
-cash box can be stuck and later disappear by throwing it down to the void that has goo wall that is attached to the building surface walls at the bottom
-underwhelming experience as light in ranked, not viable enough for a healthy use rate in high ranked, suggestion would be to prevent duplicate classes in ranked match if hard to balance (HML)
-unbalanced matchmaking, weird matchmaking logic that possibly puts solo-queue player with lowest ranked/new players if hidden rating is high
-solo-queue players having to fight against teams with communications
-nukes guaranteeing kills to any class with a huge aoe range
-weirdly unbalanced respawning locations
-cheaters
-no rewards to earn after finishing the battle pass and getting to max level (40)

Time between patches is way too slow to justify this. The ranked ladder doesn't have a metal distinction so top 500 play against first time bronzes and nukes meta has been going on since launch with 0 word from the devs on whether it will be addressed.
1 of each would need Role Queue or else people would just be pick first for their favorite contestant and the player who loaded last gets the contestant they're least proficient in which opens up either that player playing terribly or just outright throwing in a solo queue standpoint.
Arguably on top of they would have to develop Role Rank because is a Diamond Heavy the same profiency as a Diamond Medium? Probably? Probably not who knows. The elo system right now doesn't have that distinction just time played.
The game would also need way faster balance passes as Light gets hard countered by Medium Recon and RPG Heavy easily right now.
With how silent development is right now I wouldn't hold my breath they would want to add that much work to their plates.

Again, every other game does it. The only arguments you can possibly make against it are invalid cause other games literally do this exact thing already and it works. When you select a class on the main screen, it puts you as that class. So if I have my medium selected and queue into a match, it would go "oh this guy is medium, lets find a light and heavy" it really just isnt that complicated, in fact I would bet you they already have a system designed already for this exact thing and just have been unsure whether or not it is needed. The fact of the matter is this system ALSO is fantastic for slow patching games. It force balances a lot of the things people complain about daily. Nukes are much less difficult to play against when you can bait out a single one with counterplay, and then boom youre clear to push in. In the current meta, that team might have 3 heavies so ofc nukes feel impossible to play against, you have to bait out 3 nukes and 3 rpgs and thats from just 1 team. Same goes for recon. It FEELS overpowered rn cause you have 3 stacks running triple recon and they all have essenitally wallhacks up at all times, but when you limit it to a single person, you can now eliminate that person and not only do they have to chose between recon OR heals OR turret, but youre also taking out their 1 defib. The best way to balance something in a ranked environment is class restrictions. Theres a reason every single ranked mode in every game has different rules and restrictions, and this is why it should be used in the finals. The defib wouldnt be so ridiculous and cheesy if every team only has 1. The problem with balancing not being perfect under these rules is that if something in the current meta is overtuned, you REALLY notice it when an entire team can run it. Things become a lot more tame when we are all on a level playing field and the specialization you select has real impact cause you have to be impacted by the tradeoffs of not having the other options.

Right now the system isn't very transparent, it's hard to find out what rank the lobby is at, and whenever I manually check people almost all the different ranks are present in lobbies together. Shouldn't Diamond players play against Diamond players and Gold players against Gold players?

Invisibility could do with some tweaks:
5 second soft cooldown to toggle it back on after breaking stealth.
Kills instantly reduces its cooldown to 1.5 seconds and refills some of the stealth meter.
Standing still should drain less charge than when moving.
Stealth should have a reduced strength when in very close proximity to enemies, except when standing still.
Reloading would negate the bonuses of standing still while doing so.
Active stealth should give a proximity audio queue to enemies, but not directional, only in volume (indicating distance).

I mean if you die from a medium shotgun then you played just bad. I'm sorry to say that. The medium shotgun is only good against lights as it's 2 tap most of the time, but they are damn hard to hit because of the hitbox and how fast they are. Against medium it's a 2 tap if you hit all pellets, but mostly 3 taps and heavys it's 4+.

You have plenty time to get distance/evade, shoot back with fcar which will destroy every shotgun player or dodge with movement as they shoot slowly.

The medium shotgun is one of the most balanced guns in the game. Very high risk, medium reward, slowest reload time, slowest fire rate except sniper. The range isn't that great either. If you move a straight line ofcourse they gonna hit you, like everything else

+1 a dedicated "Career" progression track tab would be greatly appreciated, with a view of which items have been unlocked already and will be unlocked next. The game's UI is amazing and minimalism is neat as long as players get enough information.

Other suggestion: when showing items for sale in the Shop, please indicate clearly which weapon the skins are for. I bought things in the past thinking my Light characters would be able to have a fancy looking weapon when the skins were only for the Medium character weapons. When you're a new player it sucks and feels like false advertising.

Recon doesn't need removed or nerfed. It works as intended. There's even an audio cue so you know when someone is using it.

The whole point of The Finals gameplay would be over the top moments with powerful equipment.

I'm happy to play a game where the gadgets don't debilitate you in some way.

What's the point of recon if you're seen while using it?

What's the point of invisibility if you're seen while using it?

What's the point of a RPG if it doesn't explode your opponent?

What's the point of gadgets if they're going to be weak?

I'm tired of games that have weak weapons and equipment.

I'm super grateful to Embark for making the equipment actually powerful.

Light:
Should get faster regenration out of combat to improve their harass-playstyle.

Someone else mentioned a stimshot item which could also work out instead of changing the regen timer. Maybe even make it so you can choose to give that stim to a teammate instead of using it only on yourself.

The sniper could use some love aswell. Not too sure about in what way tho, since that could easily make it too strong. Some experimentation with firerate might be a good first step imo.

M11 is in a weird spot too, it technically is slightly stronger than the xp-45 up close but overall still significantly worse. Maybe enhance the close-range capabilities even more so there is a clear difference between the two.

Sword should be able to hit multiple opponents with the charge attack. (The reverse of heavies hammer)

Medium:
After getting resurrected by defib you should not have invulnerability.

If you get defibbed as a medium you should have your own defib go on cooldown to prevent chain defibs.

Make it so defib isnt instant but just significantly shortens the regular revive-time. Like a sped up version of the normal revive where youd have to keep facing the downed-player trophy.

In addition a reduced effect for multiple healing beams on the same target would be good aswell. One beam heals for 100%, two beams would heal for more than 100% but less than 200%.

A change for recon sense also wouldnt hurt. Maybe make it so it functions similar to thermal vision of light. Where you have to pull out a tablet to activate it and it stays activated for a set amount of time and goes on cooldown afterwards. Also make it pulse every 5 seconds instead of a continuous vision. Each pulse would outline enemies for 1.5 seconds.

Heavy:
Hammer horizontal swings should be able to hit multiple opponents. (The reverse of lights sword)

Performance:
Some performance and optimization improvements are very needed aswell.

Melee AA should be toggleable.

BUFF THE RIOT SHIELD:
Here's some suggestions, I know all of these together would make the shield pretty strong but even 1 or 2 would be enough to improve it so much!:
-While blocking movement speed should be the same as walking (increasing block movement speed would help a lot in pushing and giving your teammates support)
-Lunge distance (90% of the fight become a chase you can't win, the other classes have ways to block enemies, slow them down or catch up to them, even heavies have RPG to finish people off if they use sledge)
-Add a slow down effect after being hit by the shield, nothing too crazy just a small reduction to movement speed and the effect should only last 500ms max (Same reason as above, medium lack ways to finish people off or catch up to them, this would prevent infinite chases, also this slow down would only work on medium and heavies, light can still run away)
-Increase damage from 84 to 90 (to kill heavies in 4 hits instead of 5)
-Add a charge like attack, to activate it press the attack button while blocking kinda like charge N slam, of course less powerful and without the destruction effect, it would add variety, also all the other melee weapons have two attacks)

i love the charge attack idea instead of movement speed increase, a single directional charge with a loading bar should be enough. Also, the slow down should be the same as the one ligths do when they hit you with a sword. I would love to see these 2 suggestions implemented because i often find myself chasing players i will never reach unless they playing heavy and sometimes im just a burden for my team if i cannot finish off kills. I definitely think players who played the game pre AA patch know something has changed, while playing against other ps5 users it’s gotten a lot easier considering nobody can hit their shots anymore. I’m not saying the aim assist didn’t need to be fixed but in its current state it feels like it’s not even there. Maybe there should be a system to where it’s enabled if console players have cross play OFF and then once you play with PC it gets disabled. Recon sense is essentially a "tap Q for wallhack" feature and takes strategy out of the game. It has no interesting gimmick to it like sonar grenade, motion sensor, tracking dart, thermal vision, etc. It allows you to see everyone across the map even if they're 10 buildings away sitting in a corner. This inherently renders directional audio pointless, takes away the element of surprise, and you're always at a disadvantage if you're going against a team with recon. In a team game, especially one where anyone can spawn anywhere at any time, information is invaluable. If the enemy team always knows where you are, how is this fun? Should you not be rewarded for playing carefully and quietly, for walking instead of running? How do you expect to win against a premade team if they always know where you are, when they all run out of a corner prefiring you and prenading you, especially if your team has no recon?

Goo gun literally just shoots goo and is janky, almost no one uses it. Invisibility doesn't benefit teammates unlike recon and almost no one plays light in high ranked games. If it was as op as you make it sound, then you'd see more people running these setups. But pretty much everyone at top of the leaderboards is playing premades with recon sense. And I'm sure if the devs look at the data, they'd see this too, so your argument is terrible.

Also, as I've ranked up, I've progressively been going against more skilled players each time, so clearly there is some mmr system in place. As I understand it, you get placed against players of your skill, not your "rank", meaning there still is an underlying mmr system in place. I've only been going against top 10k players lately and every sweaty team with ttv in their name always has recon sense on their team for a reason, which means it's clearly unbalanced compared to other class specializations and gadgets in the game, if it's being picked that much

Nerf recon sense, should reduce the range or make it like a pulse like sonar nade is. It's stupid and just dumbs down the game right now. Also lights need buff somewhere, either just buff their HP as I'm having real hard time even surviving in ranked more than one nanosecond because FCAR beams you across the map (ever wonder why everybody is running invis? :D) and there's so much AoE spam like nukes and nades so you just can't survive there at all. Point is to be glass cannon but now it feels like anyone breathes at your direction and you're instantly dead. Maybe make it so that lights HP regen start earlier, that could also work. Right now there's zero reason to run any light class ever in ranked because they get deleted by absolutely everyone and everything.

As a fellow riot shield main finding a lot of success with a riot shield support build in gold ranked, let me share my thoughts on this

  • While blocking movement speed should be the same as walking
    You can sprint at full speed and keep the shield on your left side and it blocks stuff. This tech is solely what makes riot shield viable, useless otherwise. You must use it this way to understand why the riot shield is balanced the way it is currently
  • [increased] Lunge distance
    It already lunges a little bit, but I prefer the charge ability you came up with instead, more balanced
  • Add a slow down effect after being hit by the shield
    Extremely OP, please no
  • Increase damage from 84 to 90
    The main benefit of riot is that you mitigate damage, you're not supposed to delete heavies with ease. But you can still kill in 4, combine a quick melee after the 4th swing if you want to do a final bit of 40 damage
  • Add a charge like attack, to activate it press the attack button while blocking
    This is great. Don't increase the lunge distance, just do this with a cooldown. The shield brace is currently useless because you move so slow, but having something small you can do with it to quickly close the gap and deal a bit of damage would be quite nice. Could also use to quickly dash to cover. Alternatively, it could turn the riot shield into a snowboard and you can slide quickly on flat or sloped surfaces lol

Exactly this, recon is way too strong atm and needs to actually be reworked because a straight up wallhack has no place in an fps.

M in general is extremely strong atm. Their dmg output with good aim is superb, and defibs have instant rez, which also almost completely invalidates deaths if it's not on cd.

Just play stacked head glitching on a roof on an aps and beam behind H shield, when the people you see across the map (wallhacks) come closer your heavy tries to oneshot them with nukes and rpgs, if not then back to shielding (very engaging gameplay for the heavy btw!!!). If one of you makes a mistake and head glitches for a bit too long, just instantly rez them no problem, mistakes like that don't matter, the only way to effectively wipe this is to full commit to a coordinated engage, during which the attacker has disadvantage, or to oneshot them with a nuke. Dumbass design, dumbass gameplay.

Me and 2 friends were playing ranked tourney, one of them got kicked 2nd knockout round and banned because of it, which she should not be since she didnt leave. You should always be able to rejoin, and if you do it shouldnt count as leaving.

Anyways me and the one friend then go on to win every round up to the finals, being a 3v2 it was impossible of course but we were honestly close and couldve had a nice win if the game didnt unfairly ban our last friend.

This is honestly so stupid, its an unstable game that crashes often and you should ALWAYS be able to rejoin in a match you already played in. If my friend has to get banned atleast let us finish the tournament

yep it's beyond cringe, this game has plenty of issues but free wallhacks is at the top of the list and it's worse than invis or nukes or stun gun or whatever else ppl are complaining about, completely makes the game unfun and makes it super hard as a solo player w/o recon or comms. I know all the tricks you mentioned and use them, however there's a difference between sprinting and being covered while moving, the sprinting tech is an offensive one the block movement is a more tactical thing to put pressure more than anything considering people can run.
About the lunge or the slow down, only 1 of the 2 is enough both would be op i agree.
4 hits against heavies is just a consistency issue, considering light is 2, medium is 3, 4 hits heavies would be logical, i know about the quick melee thing however idk about PC but on console It can throw you off considering you melee with the aim stick.
I'm glad you like the idea of the charge!

Recon in its current state means that any strategy that isn't just "push 3v3 and aim better" is pointless.
No flanking or picking off enemies, just straight 3v3 with everyone's positions known.

It doesn't need a nerf, it needs a complete rework or a replacement.

You can't flank teams that have it, you can't surprise attack them or sneak up on them, you can't hide in corners, and you don't get rewarded for playing quietly and making less noise. These are all essential elements of every FPS game in general, yet recon invalidates all of them.

The enemy team always knows where you spawn, where you're heading, whether you have a medium / heavy / light, whether your heavy is carrying a nuke, what team color you're on, whether you're reviving a teammate or not. The enemy team gets infinite information. They are omniscient and know where to aim and prefire before they run out of corners, where to prenade, where to setup mines, where and how to position themselves constantly.

You're across the map? No problem, all suspense is removed from the enemy's gameplay, they can just sit or go afk or troll and jump around in circles. They don't have to worry about you jumping in through a window. They don't have to have careful crosshair placement or look around when crossing the map. You're attacking A? Well no problem, they'll go B since it's free, because they could tap Q to see everyone's positioning in the game across the entire map through 30 buildings and 300 walls and see that everyone else is across the map.

And people here are going to compare it to goo gun that just shoots goo and temporarily blocks doors or gets someone stuck in place for half a second. Bizarre. Even nukes have 10 counters / things wrong with them, recon has no counter. It should be removed or nerfed to the point where it's on par with motion sensor or sonar grenade. Then it'll be fair.

H - Dmg shouldn't accumulate as it does now for C4 nukes, less dmg for each C4 and C4's own dmg working when attached to something you can carry. this is a hard one. I don't want creativity to be penalized. But as it is now it's broken and un-intended. Perfect example to why we can't have nice things....

L - More drain/longer cool down for cloak.

I definitely think something needs to be done about recon in RANKED only in its current state recon isn’t that crazy, In casual I’d say leave it as is however maybe make a sort of system where only 1-2 people can use it on a team but that should be for all specializations in general. But in ranked maybe switch the way it works or disable it completely.

I feel like a lot of the recon hate comes from people who enjoy playing ranked, for casuals it’s not that big of a deal honestly the game is a fast paced rush and die type of game recon fits that style plus it takes away medium from being a support and more of a solo type build. I would prefer 3 recon over a team of 3 turrets or 3 healing beams and defibs just consistently healing each other.

yep same in my ranked platinum/diamond matches, full medium lobbies with ttv in their name running multiple recons with full comms. can't do anything about it, you're almost always guaranteed to lose unless you get lucky or have a solid premade also using recon and comms. they all go 20-0 against randoms. At least if recon wasn't part of the game, you'd have a chance and could pick them off one by one and flank them, even if they were tryharding and sweaty

Unfortunately you’re just gonna get assholes that play like that I really feel like recon is just fine it’s crazy to be able to see through walls but it fits the mediums play style as I mentioned it takes away their support which I think is an equal trade off. Not every game is gonna be fun but that’s just the nature of any game.

As I mentioned when u take away a teams support in turn for something that supports only themselves it can definitely take a toll on the team. I do think it is unintentional how far it can scan however I saw that it said decreases with range and the first time I used it I could see across the map I think THAT needs to be fixed but everything else about it I think is fine you take the teams support away.

I think an easy fix for recon is simply make it a "use" ability with a cooldown rather than a toggle. just make it so you use it, it shows you people for X amount of time, and then you gotta wait 30 seconds to pop it again. the issue is you can currently have it up for just about the entire match and thats absurd lol let alone if you have 2 recons on your team, you have no downtime at all essentially and always know where everyone is

fck no bro, recon is easily the most broken ability in FPS gaming history. Literally nothing released in any FPS prior even comes close to the value that recon gives.

There's a reason wallhacks/esp are so popular among cheaters, because aside from rage aimbot, it's the cheat that gives the single biggest advantage over anything else, even soft aimbots(aka the try to hide it guys).

It scales on the player skill, the higher the player's gun skill the more value they get out of it, so higher MMR lobbies are just horrible because of it. As someone with really solid aim, I've gone 25-0 in ranked lobbies abusing recon. Having that much information is just absurd and completely bypasses the need for game sense and critical thinking

The way I see it the recon senses already say on the description that the strength decreases with distance but I can see perfect outlines across the map. That seems unintentional or at the very least an oversight. They already have code to make it blurrier in some instances that seems to just stop working passed like 50m. You should see vague blobs past 20m or 30m IMO and it ahould be movement based. Stationary = near invisible on it so there is at least "counterplay". In its current state there is no counterplay to literal wall hacks. @smoky storm is right, its too much info, people pay money for cheats as effective as the recon senses lol

If they want recon to be used for rotations and macro gameplay, it should be a single pulse mapwide sonar grenade.

Just reveals each player once for like 1-2 seconds and lets them know they've been detected. And a long-ish cooldown, like a minute or so.

I'd personally love to see it removed completely, but if they want to keep it it needs a full rework.

If you're gonna disable the game in vitual machines, then at least let anti-cheat run in proton. It's so easy to let Linux users play, yet you can't be bothered to enabled it for them while explicitly cutting off the possibility of bypassing it with a virtual machine? I would not be giving this feedback if the Finals did not have the playercount for this idea. There is near 90k players playing the Finals currently the steam charts show which does not include console players so the playercount of The Finals is much more larger. In this game and in other FPS games it has always been broken matchmaking. Ppl solo into a match and then get a non communicating bronze team member and complain of their bronze team member going 0-11 in ranked vs the other 3 teams that are in discord with full callouts etc team strats and all ... I believe this is what breaks matchmaking in most games honestly... Its not the skill level of a player its the simple fact matchmaking matches solo queued players up against full stacked teams that are partied with eachother making callouts and all.

My suggestion: Ranked play solo Q playlist for players who are solo. Matching solo Q players vs other solo Q players making matchmaking balanced at true ranked based matchmaking.

Ranked play teams playlist aka scrim playlist for those who are partied up. This would match full parties vs full parties. Making this level of ranked here imo much more competitive how? Its scrims. You are going against other full teams that since partied up will most likely have team callouts and strats etc. This would make things much much more competitive and give a true rewarding ranked. Its not much rewarding and im sure boring when ranked diamond level stacks are going against bronze solo Q players.

Conclusion: I understand this would make longer queue time to find matches or who knows maybe it will not. But I believe matchmaking should be enjoyable to all and fair and balanced when it comes to a thing like ranked play. I understand one can join a discord and find a squad but one should not have to do that. I watched in happen in many games its a ongoing thing where ranked play is ruined by stacked teams vs solo Q players.

Would love a "Keep-away" Game mode/something that uses the physics of throwing the cashbox around/passing it to teammates, but without a specific spot to bring it to - like Oddball from Halo, I think? You get Cash every 10 seconds for controlling it, maybe even reward having multiple people on the team touch it to incentivize passing it around

So, against my better judgment, I tried some tournament matches in The Finals again today. It's disheartening to see that the game is still maintaining its notorious tradition – not a single tournament without at least one cheater. People are beaming across the map, prefiring seconds before you even turn the corner. It’s almost laughable! The number of cheaters has only increased, despite the reduced player count, which makes me think the developers are okay with it. It's sad that cheats seem necessary for a fair playing field. I'm absolutely fed up with being killed by players who blatantly look into walls without recon senses and roam openly without any concern. They all share a common trait: a lack of proper vaulting ability, no awareness of pathing or straifing, and they always panic at the slightest unexpected touch like a 1% hp drop due to gas or fire.

So, I've been playing games my whole life and I always reach the highest or secound highest rank in games. I could say that I'm just a few ranks away from diamond in The Finals, but that doesn't mean much since it's all grind-based. I've used cheats earlier in my life (16 years ago) when I played COD and CS against friends. I know what it looks like. I also know when people have terrible movement that doesn't match their aim. If you'd like, you can add me on Discord and Steam. I can tell you how they do it; maybe you'll learn something. I also called out the same issue in Apex when it first launched. Guess what? After a huge ban wave, the "skill level" suddenly dropped, even though people had played it for a longer period of time.

Note: I didn't play between the first weeks after launch and the ban wave.

But for most it decreases dps enough to the point at which the light will just straight up kill you head on

They also have way more time to run away due to the lowered dps, should they choose to

They gain a substancial amount of survivability through it, something they are supposed to struggle with

Combine that with that it also removes the need for recoil/aim management, since you are literally forced to stand still

Another factor in which it decreases the risk normally associated with light

It can only be used once oer fight, but thats all they will need

A nuke can also only be used once per fight, that doesnt mean its fair or balanced

And lastly, you cant always rely on a teammate to heal you

Even then, thats a 2v1

Of course you will win a 2v1, but you should not need the combined effort of 2 people to win against 1 guy

Who came up with balancing heavy??

  • Nukes can one tap every character
  • MGL and Flamethrower are terrible. MGL doesn’t have impact damage unless it’s a direct hit, projectile speed is slow. Flame thrower just has terrible DPS for being an up close weapon
  • Shotgun is way too oppressive and can one tube all classes
  • I should not be able to one tap lights with an RPG
  • And mesh shield is clearly the best choice for heavy, no other alternatives. Goo Gun sucks with coordinated teams, Charge N Slam is outclassed by any one running demolition

Found the nonplayer. At least play the game before you critique people who actually are playing the game. I've played using nukes and played against nukes. They are OP and you can easily top frag with minimal effort. That being said, they shouldn't be removed. In fact, they should still be a viable option after a nerf.

I propose that heavy should simply lose a charge of C4, and on the side, light should have their breach charge replaced with the C4. You can still frag with one C4, it just requires better timing and positioning (specifically of the C4 on the cannister).

This also promotes less of the campy C4 placement that we see with cash boxes, meaning people will actually fight and defend the cash box instead of sitting rooms away waiting for someone to go for the steal.

Yeah that’s stupid, one taps are stupid. This game has high TTK, all this burst damage heavy has is way too oppressive. Specializations and utility should SLIGHTLY alter the TTK, not out right make it broken by having crazy high burst damage (Nukes, RPG crowd control, MeshShield shield-botting, mine spam, instant defibs, FCAR one clip, DB Cloak, light dying if someone breathes on him) light isn’t played for a reason and it’s because burst damage is way too high. Unless they fix burst damage this game might fall off because of the learning curve. One taps aren’t fun for the average player and dismissing their wishes because “casual get good lol” will kill the game in the long term

There should be little jump pad platforms moving back & forth in the bottomless pits so you have the possibility of recovering after accidentally falling it.
It really kills my mood when I fall over the edge by mistake and having an opportunity to come back from that would make it a lot more bearable and increase my enjoyment of the game even more. hug_friend 🕹️🖲️
I know I keep reposting this but I think it’s a really good change because dying to pits really deflates my enjoyment especially when the game glitches out and bounces me into one.

Ohh okay I understand you wrong. You basically want role lock. Overwatch implemented that in the long past. I don’t know how good that would look in the finals though. You can test it out. Enable crossplay, go into ranked or unranked tourney. Suicide and specate your teammates for 2 rounds. You will see that they use m&k (probably don't do it in ranked as you make your teammates may loose elo with leaving them 2v3)

They took a while to adress the overtuned aa pre nerf. They collected their data and made their balancing decision afterwards.
If their new data set that they will surely collect over the next weeks indicates that the nerf was too harsh they will adjust aa again. Just have patience.
Aa was overtuned for a long while, IF it turnes out to be undertuned rn you just gotta live with it for a while and if it turnes out to be balanced, sorry to say it, you have to adapt and practice your aim.

Even when the game launched you couldn't see other platforms icon, there's no way you could see ps5 icon while you're on Xbox. It's always been just a globe icon. If the whole server is globe icons, then you're in PS5 lobby. Now you're just making assumptions based on spectating your teammates? Thats the only way to test this? Thats seems highly incorrect. Sorry to tell you, but you're looking for excuses why you're not playing well.

@keen steppe the thing is, the nerf is justified, but AA bug got introduced that almost noone seems to realize. Under 20 meters AA Slowdown doesn't work and that's a huge nerf to AA which wasn't mentioned in the patch notes. You're right, they have their data but i guarantee you that now it shows controller underperforming. With the bug fixed, AA would be in a good spot i believe

some people complain that VRs don't have a use once everything is unlocked
some complain that they don't want to buy a whole item set for 1 thing they like

we could combine these for a fix:
a player can spend (amount set by devs) of VRs to be allowed to buy 1 item of a bundle at proportional price

example:
a bundle consisting of 4 items that costs 1000 muti-bucks combined
the player can now spend VRs and 250 muti-bucks to buy a single item of the bundle

(of course the price could be adjusted for items that are worth less than the rest, just make it add up to the total bundle price and detract the price from the bundle should the player want to buy the whole thing later on)

-makes them buy items they otherwise wouldn't

@digital snow are you even on console? Because it sounds just like a pc player would comment... The whole Server is not ps5, why should it be all the time when im on xbox? Also the player movement and actual mic usage (pc players tend to use mics more often in solo que) aproves it, just look foryourself.. the game probably has more Players on pc then both consoles combined.
As I said if you are on console (which I doubt by now) you can check it as I told you. Most people already thought that crossplay was with pc all the time. Even a mod here replied that that it is console only back then (see reddit for the post).

Now they opened up crossplay for every Plattform. Just wait till more people recognize this.

Amidst all the whining about aim assist and crossplatform, I'd just like to say that they should separate console and PC because I am tired of breaking my back trying to carry them. 😂 Some of you console players whine about the nerf so hard but you are playing like complete garbage, and barely even aiming near your target because you just suck at aiming and play at super slow sensitivities. (Seriously, why are you playing a fast-paced movement shooter with super slow sensitivity???)

I play on PS5 with crossplay off. I find lobbies in less than a minute. If the whole server is only globes, why do you believe 100 % it's PC? It can also be PS5. PLEASE nerf the stun gun and nukes, they are both so unbelievably broken, and have little to no counterplay, stun gun is not only an almost completely free kill on anyone, even if they're playing with their team, but they can also just completely overturn any effort your team is putting in to capturing the cashout, your entire team can be literally inside of you, healing you with domes and whatever you want, and a stun gun will just completely take you out of the capturing animation, how can you even outplay that? And nukes are so skillless, they're just a guaranteed AT LEAST 80-160 damage on any given member of a team, and in MOST cases, a complete oneshot, no counterplay, not to mention the effects the nuke leaves afterwards, which will finish you off if you didn't die to the nuke itself, at least the rpg requires some level of aiming, and can only do a good amount of damage to one person, but you can just throw a nuke in the general direction of someone and boom they're dead.

CL40 and MGL32 suck so bad. Low DPS, terrible projectile speed, direct impacts are needed and yet they bounce off of enemies?? Close up shots deal more damage to yourself than the enemy. this would be nice, although it is slow to complete, the season was 3 months long, so lots of time. I finished it last week (and the season doesn't end till march) and I mostly only play to do my dailies (unless friends are on), but now I dont even do that since I'm level 40.

@wooden shale stun stopping a steal is the least cringiest thing the stun gun can do. It's basically all I use it for cuz I dont need it as a crutch to get kills (although it comes in handy when chasing someone)

stun not only slows you, but dosen't allow you to use any abilities, dosen't allow you to ADS, so your accuracy is garbage, and lasts like 5 seconds, it makes it so easy to secure a kill on anyone, and the fact that a light can rush in and just completely stop you from securing a cashout makes it the most broken ability in the game, nothing else can just completely deny any cashout at any time, sure rpg breaking the floor will interupt it, but not every cashout sits on a destructable floor, and you can also use shields or APS turrets to counter the rocket, but stun gun just says "nope you can't capture anymore" and all you need to do is hit them, which is unbelievably easy with how many gap closing tools and how fast lights move, literally the only counter to a light with dash coming to stun gun your teammate is to rpg them before they can get to it, unless you have aimbot and can track perfectly through light dash, the problem is the fact that the stun gun is a jack of all trades, not one of the individual things that it can do.

It secures 1 kill out of 3 on your team. And with the current meta being MMH or MMM anyway, you need some time to cope bc "Oh wow, I died. Time for me to get defibed and the stun gun cool down is still up.

Even on receiving end of stun guns I never feel like it's unbalanced. It sucks sure, but so does any CC in any game. And I'm happy that ONLY the least HP class in the game can pull it off.

Nope, but I use it as light needs all the help as it is anyway and I don't find medium or heavy even remotely fun. Imo healbotting, rezbotting and reconsights (and obviously shield spamming) are far cheaper ways of playing. Once again, can't hate the player here, I disagree with the devs decision to make those mentioned abilities the uncontested meta, light doesn't stand a chance against any team that remotely knows what they're doing.

@worldly knot in response to you, I agree that yes while on paper that sounds op (and sure, maybe you're right about some of those things. In comparison to the open beta, the stun rework is a bit worse). And I'm not tryna clown on you or anything, but try running it in comp and face the harsh reality of 3 teammates with shields and full protect (if they know what they're doing) on the guy stealing.

We need some kind of equipment reminiscent of an inhaler/shot/stim which makes you invulnerable/immune/strongly resistant to gas and/or fire (and maybe an additional buff, reload speed?)

I think a better question is why does light NEED to have the kind of utility medium and heavy have? Light's biggest strength is the ability to quickly reposition and having the highest dps weapons out of all the classes, they're assassins, they take off angles and pick the enemy teams appart, while the rest of your team holds down an area, I honestly think the only reason light isn't meta right now, is just because mesh shield is slightly overtuned, if mesh shield gets nerfed, it's much harder to get defib resets, and suddenly any kill that a good light gets is suddenly so much more valuable

@daring fossil you can easily counter c4 on a cashout like you said by just shooting it, just because most players don't, dosen't mean it's broken because it has easy counter play, also, any shield between any player capping and any c4, will also counter it.

some possible utility light could get:

unlike medium which has defib, light could have an adrenalin shot to increase allies movement speed

a pushback mine that can be used to keep enemies away for some time/bring them into (for the light) favourable position, or be used by teammates as an emergency movement tool (like a rocket jump) or themselves if they dont use the grapple (while of course being not being quit as fast, so it doesnt make it obsolete)

an updraft generator that moves thrown objects and players upwards, allowing the light to alter incoming projectiles and (if used correctly) make them less dangerous, while also being able to give favourable position to the whole team

an oil gun, giving you the ability to slide and move around enemies more easily, force enemies to slide into a position they might not like to if they are careless and set the oil on fire for felxible area denial

(just more movement items with more than 1 use in general)

the reason the meta is MMH/MMM is because light is underpowered and needs certain crutch items to useable

id like to see a light buff in some capacity but a nerf for the pain points a lot of people keep asking for

@quick coyote they need to just blacklist rewasd entirely. Even the "fix" (that isn't working) didn't stop recoil scripts. They were just like "yep AA shouldn't work on m/kb now, but everyone can still use rewasd and recoil scripts"

i just got timed out in game for being afk when i was not afk in any of the games i was in i belive the most likely cause of this issue was when i tried to start a few games before it would fail and i belive i was put in the match serverside but not clientside causing me to appear afk

no, that's not what we're saying, we're saying that if it's match point, you're about to grab the cashout, and win the game, your entire team is right on top of you, you're getting healed while your heavy has both of their shields down, you're literally 90% done capturing the cashout, realistically there is no way the enemy team should be able to stop you, especially if the floor you're capturing on isn't destructible, but any light with the stun gun, can dash through all your defenses and ONLY shoot you with the stun gun, which will make you lose, you won't die, you won't take any damage, the stun gun itself will make you lose because it interupts your capturing animation, that is BROKEN

it doesn't help you in the fight itself, making it practically pointless unless you won the fight (in which case it doesn't help either since you can just wait until you regen fully before engaging the next guy)

Okay, any situation in isolation can be proposed as OP. Say if light was in a better state that it is now, then I'd be inclined to agree with you, but for now let's look at the bigger picture.

Say you're running light for that sole purpose. Your team, inherently, will be at an automatic disadvantage when it comes to the game in a more macro scale, you're gonna be almost totally outgunned in almost all team fights and once again, if opposing teams are running the meta (which 99% they are), you'll get wiped.

Assuming that you can defend (or steal until) a cash out 90% of the way in with this inherent disadvantage and you're in a situation where you win with a last second stun defense, I'd argue that that's a completely warranted win anyway.

Remember, if light was in a better place than it is now, we could certainly make a case for what you say. But ATM, there's FAR more things that either make medium totally overpowered, heavy at times too and overall, light suffers hard, as reflected by anyone that plays comp. In other words, either medium and heavy are OP and light is meh, or medium and heavy are whatever and light is dog water.

If they buff lights, i really hope it isn’t much. I think rpg 1-shotting lights is warranted since they have insane tools to wipe others with strong guns,stun gun, and invis/dash. If the game is just lights running around with annoying ass guns and not playing with the team then the game just straight up won’t be fun anymore. Lights seem to often forget that while they have weaknesses, a lot of them can be mitigated by sticking with the team instead of trying to solo people and teams on their own.

decreasing the amount of time it takes to regen would make that worse

perhaps there is a case to be made about faster regen but with the same delay?

ok, while yes, I agree light isn't that great right now, and yes, by playing light you are at a disadvantage already, I still don't think that is going to get fixed by giving light broken abilities that have no counterplay and are jacks of all trades, sure, maybe the stun gun isn't going to be as effective in a comp environment and anyone who tries using it will get destroyed by a good coordinated meta using team, but high level comp isn't the only thing that exists in the game, and not everything needs to be balanced around what is and isn't possible at a high level, if you want to make light viable at a high level, keeping stun gun how it is right now isn't going to change anything, giving light other tools will. and frankly, stun gun is too powerful for lower level lobbies atm, that's the problem, it ruins fun in the game, I'm not making a case for stun gun altering the meta or anything like that, but it simply ruins the fun.

Thats completely valid, in the sense that I agree that the game shouldnt only revolve around comp. As a light player myself, ive kinda just avoided comp after a few games (ive ranked up on pre much all, but i know that if i climb any higher than i am now its just gonna suck the fun out of it as its unbalanced. ill hop back in once balance issues are fixed first). I agree that things like stun can be annoying, but the thing is id still go as far to say nukes, rpg, recon senses, rezzes and even heals are annoying not only to light players but mediums and heavies too. Its a tough one, but the game will continue to bleed if it stays this way. Say that light gets put in a better position, ill completely agree with you that stun then needs a rework too.
Edit: Casual can be really fun too. Im normally a ranked grinder (GM on overwatch until that game drove me crazy and i decided to step back on grass) but ive been having a pretty good time even in casual. What makes it unfun is once again the imbalance, but its served as a really fun place as people are more likely to experiment there. That being said, the imbalances still, imo, plague it and it could definitely be better. The call for a rework is still relevant.

@smoky gust I agree with you as well, light forced to run anything to be even slightly viable is very unhealthy, especially as it has the most 'diverse' weapon options available but realistically only maybe 4 of them viable (pistol, shotgun, m11 and the mp5) which is such a waste.

To change light, there's two trains of thought, either reduce the effectiveness of what is comparatively OP (mainly just medium and shield/ nuke spamming heavies) OR buff light to match. To go into specifics from either approach would take a lotta time, but im sure the devs are listening to feedback and HOPEFULLY, we can see a good patch this week as promised last week. This game is far too good to die this young, and i hope they can address these issues moving forward.

I have a balance suggestion for defib that I think would make it far less frustrating to go against.

As it stands right now, the TTK is long enough in this game that you can rarely stop a medium from running in and combat defibbing a teammate (as well as using their temporarily invincible revivee as a shield after it). Defib's role should still be quick revives but not for free.

I think a great balance for the defib would be to make it so taking any damage while charging the paddles should cancel the charge and make the person do it again. If they take damage again, it resets again. This would discourage in-combat revives while still allowing someone to quickly pull their teammate's trophy out of danger and revive them quicker than holding E on them.

its basically a back and forth of annoying stuff

your "x" is op, so i am allowed to have "y" be op

you can always stop using underpowered items but you cant force an enemy to stop using op ones

if you're using a "bad" weapon and having a bad time, you can just stop and swap to something useable
if there is an op item, you cannot stop the enemy from using it (you can at best match it, at which point neither is having fun, since its often "click first = win")

in the former case there is 1 person responsible for your fun: yourself
want to have fun? just grab a different gun and off you go
in the latter case, its everyone else (6-9 people, making it pretty likely someone is using the op thing)
want to have fun? good luck searching for random matches until you find one where no-one uses it, or just make sure they don't have fun either

sooooo yeah, if we need to decide between either of those, id rather have underwhelming and average weapons than average and op ones

I totally agree, honestly light is fun as is and only needs to be balanced. Even though most call for a light buff, i think what everyone really wants is to achieve proper balance.

The removal of nukes and reworks (say you can make it so that objects like c4 cant stick unto throwables, i heard that here before and its a good suggestion) and even what @thin tusk said about defib 9 minutes ago in this chat about defib are great and viable suggestions. As for heal, i think it promotes negative gameplay if one person just healbots, but i suppose its a subclass so i wont comment too much on it i guess. But in conclusion, totally agree, dont 'buff' light, just nerf nukes and others that ruin the meta in an anti fun way
Edit: ok combat knives are damn near useless among some other weaopns so i guess theres that lol, maybe try to work those out too (doesnt only apply for light tho)

To be honest; it's not the healing beams, turrets, or whole squad of invisible noobs who are afraid of bullets and sneak attack your cranium with a 1 pump. It's the heavy that can eat toxic cyanide, napalm, and actual bullets (without any visible body armor, just a really thick layer of blub-i mean skin to protect them) and solo an entire team because they're in full berserker mode with a sledgehammer. (Lets not mention that you don't limit one class per team, which would make class setups even more vital in tournaments.) No; you allow them to run TWO heavys running a brain dead loadout with a medium healer clipping the healing beam through a wall to heal the whales.

Also; as far as "balance" goes.....just make every class have the same HP as a Medium? Medium imo feels perfect, as far as movement/hp goes.

Being able to proc invisibility whenever I want and skirt around, until I have a double barrel pointed at your brain stem and almost one shot a medium; is just a giant question mark.

Also; whats up with the absolute "????????" reload animation for the Model 1887? shoots one shell
ejects said shell, catches it, puts it BACK in...and proceeds to shovel another 1-2 more shells back in before I can actively use again ?????????????????????????????????????? wat.

Defib, recon, nukes need nerfs. I also dislike how hard m beams at range and is still very effective close range, but idk how to nerf that.

Defib needs to be changed to a rez speed increase rather than instant rez windup.

Nuke needs to be nerfed by c4 no longer being attachable to throwables.

Recon needs to be nerfed by making it pulse like sonar (but not team wide) showing detected and perhaps also buffing cloak so it cloaks through recon, but only if still needed.

Do this, while buffing weak weapons, gadgets, and specs, and the game will be so good.

Ok, So... Dead go boom. Great mode dont get me wrong... but one thing that you guys miiiight no have thought about is the fact that dead go boom griefs the ever living crap out of mele players. Like trying to play knife While dead go boom is active is terrible. Even if you succeed you still lose. That in of itself isnt that bad, but on top of mele being kinda Weak already, it really doesnt help the Weapons at all. Please buff mele so it makes up for my pain Whenever I get punished for my sucess. and no "just dash away" isn't a solution.

Fix your woke matchmaking system. A match should not be arranged to make all teams have a chance to win, it is suppose to pair people with similar skills. I can’t stand have to play with 2 morons who have no idea how to use a defib against 3 teams of 3 players. Wanna match me against staked teams? Cool, I chose to play alone, but at least give me teammates who can at least do more than 500 damage an entire match

Embark has an opportunity to do something REALLY cool with its AI dialogue.
They could set up a forum similar to this discord- it doesn't need to be constantly running, it could be an event every season or something -and have the AI trained on posts and comments from the forum to adopt player speech and sentiments. Imagine June and Scotty talking about nukes and movement techs or other wacky stuff mid game, it would fit the gameshow theme perfectly.

Obviously the text that the AI is trained on would be moderated and curated by the developers, and the people that post in the forum would sign an agreement obliging to have their writing used.

The console player base is going to die out quickly if we don’t get a high frame rate mode and some kind of buff to the current aim assist as well as well as a console only cross play option. AA was a little too snappy before, but it’s pretty much nonexistent now and the skill gap this causes between PC and console is too immense to be enjoyable. I seriously do not care about shiny ray tracing graphics when somebody playing at 4 times my frame rate gets to use their whole arm to click on my head and delete me while I try to react with my thumb and minimal aim assist at minimal frame rates for next gen. This game was way closer to being perfect last week than it is today which is concerning but hopefully they figure out a balance as they do seem to care and be very responsive.

I've compiled a list of suggestions to enhance our gaming experience. These changes are aimed at creating a more balanced and enjoyable environment.

1. Patch Nukes and Nerf Heavy Shields Health:

  • Adjust the strength of heavy shields for better gameplay dynamics.
  • On another note, players should not be able to attach deployables onto world canisters.

2. Matchmaking Based on Rank, Not SBMM:

  • Switch to a matchmaking system that considers player rank rather than Skill-Based Matchmaking (SBMM).

3. Add a Chatbox for Communication:

  • Introduce a chatbox to facilitate communication between players.

4. Include Weapon Attachments:

  • Expand customization options by adding weapon attachments for a more personalized gaming experience.

5. Implement Distance Limit for Medium Recon Skill:

  • Set a distance limit, perhaps 100 meters, for the Medium Recon skill to balance its usage.

6. Revise Fame Points System:

  • Increase fame points for winning and decrease them for losing to promote fair ranking progression. Explore the possibility of earning more points based on in-game total cashout.

7. Balance C4 Usage for Heavies and Lights:

  • Limit heavy class to 1 C4 to address balancing issues.

8. Buff Vanishing Bomb for Light Class:

  • Enhance the Vanishing Bomb for the light class to make it a more viable and competitive option.

9. Consider Adding Passives to Each Class:

Please allow some way to mute the sound of the cash out box or give different options as purchasable cosmetics or have the song progressively change as the cash out gets closer to completion. Changes that imo would be great:

  1. Add mnk support on consoles since PC players have big advantage so it would be fair
    2.Add crossplay between consoles only so we don't have to play against PC if we don't want to.
  2. Nerf nukes since it's too much overpowered
  3. May be controversial but Buff aim assist. This doesn't have to be that good but just a little bit. I'm a good controller player and I'm doing fine now but there is a lot of people that want to play for fun and they can't coz they don't have the aim assist so this change would be nice.
  4. Add more specializations to every class. I think it would be good. Maybe 2 more to every class.
  5. Fix the anti cheat system because you know, cheaters
  6. Give us more points for winning the ranked game maybe like 700 750 something in that range.
    8.Buff light in some way that will be more balanced. I think Light is not good for ranked and I would see some hp buffs and maybe slight damage nerf so the survivalability would be bigger.

thoughts regarding ranked after grinding to diamond:

  1. Make rank based on skill not how much you've played, in the future i won't be grinding to diamond since it just is a meter for how much youve played. FP loss needs to be way steeper in the future for plat or gold+
  2. Add a new rank after diamond. Diamond is usually the seconds or third highest rank in games, feels unsatisfying hitting diamond to realize that was it.
  3. Do something more with diamond (or highest rank) divisions, right now there is very little incentive to grind further once you hit diamond 4
  4. Give a top500 leaderboard a separate rank. Making the top500 rank visible in the badge makes it way more competitive and is a nice QoL change to not have to check leaderboards between every game

A way to nerf nukes:

When heavy is holding it - it should take about 45 dmg to destroy it(so it would blow up in heavys hands and killed him)

When nuke is flying it should be one-shot from any weapon.

This way a nuke would still destroy and kill teams if heavy gets a jump on them, but also makes it dangerous for the heavy and his teammates if they are close.

(Like high risk - high reward, cause right now it is no risk - high reward)

Recon Senses should be reworked in such a way so it would have a downside like every other special utility
(ChargeNslam - cant use weapons)
(GooGun - cant use weapon, dont deal dmg)
(MeshShield - cant use weapon, slow movement)
(Turret - can be destroyed/glitched)
(Heal - cant use a gun)
(Harpoon - high cd period, just a movement ability)
(Dash- leaves visible traycers, just a moving ability)
(Cloack - scan abilities and thermal vision can see it)

Recon Senses - nothing, u just press Q and get a wallhack.

A possible rework in my head:

Make it 3 charges of pulses. Each pulse is around 50 meters, to begin a pulse a medium player will not be able to use a gun (mb an animation of him touching some sort of device), after each pulse there is 3 seconds delay before u can use the next one, cd period starts only when all pulses are used. All teammates can see the pulse and the ones detected by it. The pulse has a wave just like sensor granades, that is visible to enemy players.

Lots of VERY useless players and they should be penalized, players who downgrade their rating in a quick game.
Do something about them.
There should be a way to track them, for example.
Repeated clicks or absolute inactivity in multiple matches.
This is the 4th incident in 2 days of play, and the longer I play, the more often I see them.

Current Feedback after 156 hours and Gold rank:

  • Revolver is inconsistent with its accuracy (some weird bloom when you ADS) (try it in training)
  • Defib is too strong and brings a boring metagame | nerf cooldown and remove invulnerability only for defib revives to bring in a more risk/reward
  • Recon senses should be reverted to last patch and not be able to see invis (this will help give lights some more play with cloak)
  • Stun gun seems too long
  • c4 shouldn't recharge while active
  • Custom games with friends are needs to test mechanics

I'm here due to my frustration with enemies having no recoil. When I shoot it takes two mags to kill enemies, they get to do it in one since their shots don't miss like mine. If this is my 160ms latency then I get it, its on me, but if its something else it needs to be fixed, I cannot play with this huge disadvantage of missing shots where enemies never do.

Add the feature to see the "possible" loadout of each OWN team member before a match starts.

What I mean with "possible" loadout is what they also has in "reserve inventory" to switch their equipment mid-game.

It makes my life easier to know if someone has molotovs or flamthrower as a heavy to deal with poison gas. Relying on the barrels alone is difficult and it give me the freedom to adjust to my team's whole loadout.

I’m not really one for complaining online, but I thought I would leave some feedback for once. I was really excited playing this game when it came out, it felt fresh and got me excited to game again. I’ve felt generally online gaming has got a lot less fun in recent years, it seems games are constantly trying to cater to a minority hardcore player / pro player, not the casual gamer. But anyway me and my buddies were really enjoying the finals on console, we’re not the best but we put up ok numbers and sometimes we can have really good matches. But since the patch it’s become a nightmare to play, struggling to get kills. Lights are impossible to hit especially if they get in your face, in fact anyone gets in your face, big guy included bullets will just miss. It was hard to track shots before the patch now it’s even harder. Yeah it probably takes more skill to play the game now, which can be rewarding for some people but if you’ve only got a spare hour to pick up a game and play, it gets a bit much. So me and my buds are probably going to move on to something else, feeling kinda sad on the games missed potential and once again feeling like fun for the casual gamer hasn’t been prioritised.

Colorblind mode and team colors

I'm colorblind, and I'm 100% sure that every other person with this problem has to be frustrated with the color of the teams. Having pink, purple, or blue teams (for example) in the same game is almost impossible for us to distinguish quickly. Also, sometimes I have a yellowish team, an orange one, and a reddish-orange. I mean... wtf.

Could you use four permanent colors every single time for each team? Saturated Blue (for your own team), Yellow, Green/Dark Red, Pink. That combination should work fine, cause they are very different in hue, saturation and lightness. That's what make colorblinds able to read different colors without issues.

I'm gonna need some fancy looking Medic-themed cosmetic pack for the times when my Medium characters bring their A-game to revive and heal their team mates (mostly to complete dailies but still). 💪🏾 👩🏾‍⚕️

Other suggestion: I'm currently Steam achievements hunting which is fun, but there's about a dozen I'll never get done because my aim sucks at this time. I'd not mind an in-game achievements tab though, to keep things fun beyond launch/seasons. And maybe all those stickers/weapon decor would finally make sense to equip from those achievements (or not I find them useless so far).

The best nuke nerf would be having the C4 weigh the barrels down, and reducing the barrels health.

This nerfs the tactic but doesn't nerf the heavy class itself.

Recon senses just need to be reset to where it was before it was buffed.

The complaints about invisibility and double barrel have almost completely gone away with the ADS patch, and people discovering that recon is an effective counter.

The issue with lights are their viability in competitive play.

It's an extremely high skill class to use.

Ranked mode has players maximizing strategies. This is why nukes, defib, heals, etc are so prevalent.

It would take a highly skilled team player to run light in a ranked mode that by it's nature and ours is filled with meta strategies to insure a win.

The light could use a few more team play gadgets, but it doesn't need a nerf.

Competitive gaming destroys enjoyable gameplay because the win is more important than the experience.

Played 7 games in NA today with just lag but no hackers but my very FIRST game in Asia today I have a hacker cross mapping me and my team with the SA1216. Please do something about it, and just to enlighten how bad it is. Those hackers with chinese names + random letters and numbers. Those random letters and numbers are a link to their social/website in China for their boosting services. So essentially they're killing your player base while earning a profit out of it.

Competitive gaming merely strives towards balance across the board. Just because a game is balanced does not mean it is not fun. It only means that nothing is overpowered or gives unfair advantages. All while still allowing meme playstyles to function aswell.
And like in any kind of sport or game where you face off against other individuals, with the clear goal being to outperform the enemy team to win, competitiveness is always going to be a major part of the game. Mainly because it always feels better to win than to lose. Sure you could have fun while loosing but having fun while winning is still the preferred outcome.

Game is too slow and far too "balanced"
Went from CoD to Fortnite and thought that was slow, this game feels like r6s speed and went back to FN for a few games felt like lightning speed.swapping from grenade to gun is so slow

As for the balance issues, being a light/medium turrets annihilate you and you're far too squishy as compared to a tank who cam sit in the turret and not care.

Being too balanced makes this game suck because you have to find people to play with just to unlock shit so then you can try playing the meta... or it's bashing your head into a wall for so far 4 hours while trying to herd cats.

Hell 2 sniper shots don't take out a medium from a light nor do 2 headshots on a heavy.... also melee is waaaay weak it should be 2 kill a light or medium and 3 for a heavy and add extra damage if hit with one from behind.

Also waaaay too many hackers

And can we add a sort by input type because I play on controller from PC and its a nightmare since the update (I play with aim assisting off) and the update makes me not even ADS at what I was looking at and drags it off target since update.

@keen steppe multiplayer will always have a competitive nature because it's competitive by nature.

The problem is that ranked modes give the players a rank to lose and possible fame to gain.

This creates a mindset of winning over enjoyment which will change the gameplay if that player base is appeased.

I personally enjoy having the weapons and equipment actually being powerful without debilitating the player in some way.

They need to craft the gameplay around the experience and balance the game according to it's style.

This game is a fast-paced explosive team based objective game that allows for creative freedom. It's made to have epic moments and allow even casual gamers to achieve wins.

I think this game is trying to balance the skill gap between casual and competitive players while creating a fun experience.

It's the anger, skill, competitive issues that can ruin an enjoyable game.

I don't want to see this game turn into Apex, Overwatch, etc...

Those games have become extremely toxic and are no longer enjoyable due to the competitive side being favored over the casual experience.

alternatively you could make a limit to how many things can hit you at the same time

rocket launcher should increase in damage the further it goes but make it a bit slower. up close it shouldn't one shot lights, but further away you should get a chance to dodge because right now its so incredibly fast. in return for the speed nerf and up close damage nerf, it does more damage further for a bigger payoff

stun gun's stun duration should be reduced by about a second and should allow you to crouch while stunned

when revived the defibrillators should be at max cooldown no matter what

two healing beams on one person should only increase health by 75 per second not 100

vanish bomb shouldn't create movement noise (not 100% sure it does but it feels like everyone always knows where i am with it) and have reduced shimmer (aka you should be able to see it a bit less)

light class should have a constant healing which increases over time while not getting hit

footsteps should be distinct, allowing me to tell which class i am hearing

turret health should be reduced and should do scaling damage, so light players don't loose all their health but it actually means something for heavies
along with that explosives should do more damage to turrets

invis should have cloak time meaning it takes a tiny bit to actually become invis

thermal vision shouldn't have a cooldown or duration restrictions, it should just be a toggle. it already doesn't allow you to see gas so maybe remove some of the dangers you can see while it's active

motion sensor should have increased range

recon senses when deactivated should drain the entire resource bar.

climbing speed (meaning vaulting and mantle) should be increased, and quicker to cancel.

add a wide ladder interact key so you aren't forced onto the ladder when running into it

You can have powerful equipment without it bordering on overpowered. The problem is when a powerful equipment/gadget/ability gives such a huge advantage that it makes the game unfun/tedious for anyone not using it. If that happens to be the case then changing said equipment/gadget/ability is fair and justified, even flat out removing it if no good balance can be found is a good option at that point.
Who know maybe the new equipment/gadget/ability the devs would come out with might even be more fun and enable more creative ways to use it and enhance the game in a way the previous one didnt.
Personally I'd rather bet on the new one than to play with an overpowered old one.

I'm all for comp players and casuals having fun. But if comp players go up against casuals a majority of the time the casuals should not win. If they get assistance through gadgets/mechancis or other things along those lines to close the skill gap it only invalidates the time and effort players have invested into the game.
If you put in the hours and grind grind grind to get as good as you can possible be you have earned the right to come out ahead of the majority of opponents you go against.
Since that could lead to pubstomping tho, a ranked mode is implemented to separate comp and casual players. Sometimes comp players still play quickplay etc. and obliterate casual in those lobbies but that isnt necessarily bad.
I remember when I first started gaming and got rolled by other players and instead of being mad I more so was amazed at what they could do and what was possible in the game I was playing at the time. It showed me what you could do if you were good enough and how much depth the game had. And it incentiviced me to play more and improve.

The problem with competitive ranked modes is that players have something to lose. So this makes winning a priority over enjoyment.

This makes players gravitate towards the most optimal strategy to win. So you see players abuse mechanics and it breeds a toxic experience in ranked.

The fact is no matter what is nerfed or changed. Players will always cheese the most optimal strategy thus there will always be a balancing issue. It will never be solved because of it's nature.

This game allows a casual to pick a low-skilled class like heavy and get kills due to the heavies explosives and health. This allows them to compete with more skilled players.

That's the balance between skill and casual. Which skill will always have an advantage, but the casual player will still have a chance to win, and either way walk away with an enjoyable experience.

The heavy class is literally made for casuals who just want to contribute but only have a couple hours in their day to play.

The casual isn't playing ranked, and normally ranks aren't playing casual mode.

Ranked and competitive issues should stay out of casual modes and gameplay.

Rock beats scissors. Rock shouldn't be nerfed or removed. If it is than the whole game experience is fundamentally changed.

This game isn't about "balance across the board", it's about counter strategies and it's a rock / paper / scissors style of gameplay.

Invis+DB was the casual "meta" until it started getting countered by recon. Now it's no longer used as much, and the AA patch helped stop it some too.

It's still powerful, but people aren't cheesing it as much because the counter is being used now.

Basically I just feel that ranked and competitive issues should stay out of casual modes and gameplay experience.

Please add an option to toggle off automatic vaulting, sometimes I just wanna drop down instead of getting stuck in vault animations and die because of that, lemme hold a button to activate vaulting instead. Also please fix the bug where I'm stuck in reload animation with full ammo, can't use any gadgets and only thing what helps is restarting the whole game which has caused me to get multiple "leaver" bans already. Also nerf recon senses, wallhacks like that don't belong in a tactical game.

BUFF THE RIOT SHIELD:
Here's some suggestions, I know all of these together would make the shield pretty strong but even 1 or 2 would be enough to improve it so much!:
-While blocking movement speed should be the same as walking (increasing block movement speed would help a lot in pushing and giving your teammates support)
-Lunge distance (90% of the fight become a chase you can't win, the other classes have ways to block enemies, slow them down or catch up to them, even heavies have RPG to finish people off if they use sledge)
-Add a slow down effect after being hit by the shield, nothing too crazy just a small reduction to movement speed and the effect should only last 500ms max (Same reason as above, medium lack ways to finish people off or catch up to them, this would prevent infinite chases, also this slow down would only work on medium and heavies, light can still run away)
-Increase damage from 84 to 90 (to kill heavies in 4 hits instead of 5)
-Add a charge like attack, to activate it press the attack button while blocking kinda like charge N slam, of course less powerful and without the destruction effect, it would add variety, also all the other melee weapons have two attacks)

Yes comp mode can lead to some toxicity. But what would be the alternative? No comp mode so all the good players and casuals are jumbled together. That would be fine if there was no sbmm. Because if you introduce sbmm into that scenario then it only means that you shift the ranked problem into the casual modes problem. You wouldnt have the ranked incentive to win but comp play lovers would still compete and go for the win. And since there is sbmm they go against similarly ranked players and then the best meta would be found there instead of in ranked.
You'll never get rid of the toxic players that comp games inherently have since some take it too serious or cant deal with getting their pride hurt.
Basically even if ranked mode is gone there would still be a ton of people playing the optimal strategy it would just now be in casuals.

Rocks beats scissors is fine as longs as it only "beats it " in the sense of having a slight advantage against it but still needing significant player skill to capitalize on that. Once "beats it" turns into no counter play and it being very unfun to play against then a nerf or removal is warranted.

Recon just needs to return to where it was before it's buff. They just need to roll back the patch on it.

C4 just needs to weigh down throwables, and all barrels need their health reduced. These changes help balance out the tactic without nerfing the heavy class itself.

Light needs 2 breach charges which would be fair and allow them to counter nuke as well.

Light needs more teamplay gadgets that would help make them more viable in ranked modes.

I enjoy the gameplay and wish to preserve it as close to it's initial experience.

I hope that Embark does too.

Do you have any idea how much recon senses takes away from every strategy right now? Do you understand how ridiculously broken it is? You cannot ever, EVER juke anyone in this game anymore and it simply ruins every single tactic. You grapplehook 2 buildings away, trying to revive your teammate in a good place, no, recon senses counters you instant. You have a good ambush setup for cashout, no recon senses ruins this too. You jump building to building, story to story in Monaco to juke an enemy, no recon senses sees you. Besides balancing a game around casuals isn't smart, casuals come and go and follow the most hip and hop newest streamer game anyway so it makes sense to balance the game around people who actually stick around and know how to play the game. Balancing a game around casuals makes for a shallow game with no depth and no learning curve which in turn makes a boring videogame.

Sorry but separate balancing for casual and ranked is not the way to go.
For anyone that is interested in ranked, casual is a way to introduce those players to the game. It is also a way to pretest strategies. If they are completely different from each other its only leads to unnecessary confusion for new players and even more work for embark to keep both balanced well.

A good example for "beats it" in a way that is currently basically uncounterable is recon sense. You get no notification when and enemy is using it. And the advantage it gives is so massive that people consider an ability along those lines a cheat in any other game.
It also currently doesnt fit in your rock paper scissors metaphor. Since it has no counter. If another class had a concealment ability that prevented recon from working on the whole team we could argue in favor of keeping it. Since there isnt and I doubt there will be, a heavy nerf or removal is the way to go

Overwatch isn't dead at all, it's very much alive and the vast majority of its playerbase can be found in the casual playlists. Overwatch is in a bad state because of grevious mismanagement of resources, it got steam review bombed into oblivion because of all the cut single player content that has been promised for the last 3+ years while all development on the original OW was halted, leading to a complete stagnation of the game which didn't even receive minor patches. When OW2 was released it was basically OW except 1 less hero and some changes, without ANY of the single player content that was promised, of course it had issues with the community. Despite that the game is still nowhere near dead and has a huge playerbase. Virtually all it's current balance problems are because of heroes which aren't balanced around good players but are balanced around casuals which leads to the major imbalances everywhere, support being powercrept, kiriko, and mauga as examples.

I've compiled a list of suggestions to enhance our gaming experience. These changes are aimed at creating a more balanced and enjoyable environment.

1. Patch Nukes and Nerf Heavy Shields Health:

  • Adjust the strength of heavy shields for better gameplay dynamics.
  • On another note, players should not be able to attach deployables onto world canisters.

2. Matchmaking Based on Rank, Not SBMM:

  • Switch to a matchmaking system that considers player rank rather than Skill-Based Matchmaking (SBMM).
  • I should not be Gold 2 playing against full Diamond lobbies. Let alone gaining the same 600 points for every win.

3. Add a Chatbox for Communication:

  • Introduce a chatbox to facilitate communication between players.

4. Include Weapon Attachments:

  • Expand customization options by adding weapon attachments for a more personalized gaming experience.

5. Implement Distance Limit for Medium Recon Skill:

  • Set a distance limit, perhaps 100 meters, for the Medium Recon skill to balance its usage.

6. Revise Fame Points System:

  • Increase fame points for winning and increase the decrease for losing to promote fair ranking progression. Explore the possibility of earning more points based on in-game total cashout.
  • We need a better matchmaking system desperately. I should not have to play hundreds of games to get out of a single rank tier.

7. Balance C4 Usage for Heavies:

  • Limit heavy class to 1 C4 to address balancing issues.

8. Buff Vanishing Bomb for Light Class:

  • Enhance the Vanishing Bomb for the light class to make it a more viable and competitive option. As of now it only lasts a second.

9. Consider Adding Passives to Each Class:

  • Explore passive abilities for each class to add depth to gameplay.

Heavy: Immunity to displacement from other heavy charges.
Medium: Faster healing or health regeneration outside of combat.
Light: Options of gaining a health boost per kill (max limit 50) or a boost in movement speed.

10. Lock regions:

  • Players should not be able to freely switch their region and play wherever they want. At least for tournaments.

11. Ranked rewards, Sticker placement, and In-Game Content.

  • Ranked rewards would be very nice to see, especially before or when the season starts. This will give players more of an incentive to keep playing.
  • It would be a nice add to allow the players to be able to place their stickers wherever they want. Possibly a max of 3?
  • We desperately need more content in game. After you’re max and everything unlocked, there is nothing to do. This will make the game die quickly.

These suggestions aim to improve the overall gaming experience and promote fairness within the system.

I agree I mentioned this yesterday while talking about the recon skill most complaints that I’ve read here come directly from people playing RANKED. I don’t think ranked and casual should be balanced equally I feel like casual should be just that casual it should be fun and let players choose what they want to do the game in its current state I’d say is fine for casual. As for ranked things should be changed definitely but don’t force that onto the normal game.

I definitely want to keep the game as close to its original form as possible, meaning as little nerfs/buffs as possible to weapons gadgets specialists. I’m not a big cod person but I’m pretty sure in their leagued play they also just kinda ban certain guns/ equipments that are annoying or have some sort of balancing issue. I feel like that should be the case here. I’ve read an argument that recon takes away from people that wanna play stealthy, and I get that but this really isn’t that much of a stealthy game at all, even the stealthy class (light build) isn’t stealthy and is more active than anything else.

Like I mentioned before recon 100 percent needs the DISTANCE nerf but as it is now I think it’s fine for casual games/players I personally hardly ever run into it and I’d much rather recon than 2-3 turrets or 2/3 healing beams with defibs. Recon is only a massive issue in ranked. I would hate to see items in this game rendered useless because of ranked when most of the player base just wants to play casually.

I think the game is fairly balanced to be honest. Some tweaks here and there and it's in a really good position but there is ONE THING that NEEDS to be addressed. PLEASE REMOVE RECON SENSE it is literally cheating

This game should hwid ban cheaters. If it doesn't, it's going to have a massive cheating problem eventually and it seems to be getting worse every week, now with cheaters mass killing everyone with a hammer across the map which multiple people have complained about today. Ppl can just buy ranked accounts for $5 and cheat their ass off with little to no consequences. A hardware ban would solve a large part of the problem.

What of it? I never said there aren't cheaters, and even said I run into them myself, and explicitly stated the game has a cheater problem. I just said they aren't in every lobby as was claimed.

Why are you randomly pinging me with a video of a cheater? Report them, I can't do anything about them.

@molten trail unfortunately hardware bans are a no-go, because it's too easy to spoof/change. In fact virtually every cheat comes with hardware spoofing built in, so you just ban a fake hardwareID and nothing happens. IP bans are also useless, because the vast majority of IPs are rotated out by the ISP, they aren't static except at places like universities, and obv you can't ban an entire university because one person cheated.

I would like if it was separated, but I know it isn't going that way.

The game should be balanced around it's envisioned playstyle and experience.

The recon is working as intended, but it should be rolled back to it's previous patch before it was buffed.

As @fading yoke pointed out. If you're trying to revive a teammate or juke an enemy in a building. They can spot you with recon senses.

This is it's intended use which is to track and locate players.

If you're playing competitively than you should already know what specializations your enemy is using, and if it's recon than you should know to adjust your playstyle and to recognize that enemy in the match.

Recon let's you see enemies but it still requires the player to actively participate in the elimination. It's way more skill based than the nuke meta for example.

Competitive balancing leads to a stiff and unenjoyable experience that's filled with unending balancing issues.

@livid oasis I agree with everything except for the range nerf. There's no harm in the range. Seeing an enemy team 100+ meters away does nothing but let you call it out and prepare.

The best nerf for the Recon Senses is for it to be rolled back from it's buff patch.

Let's stop ranked issues from ruining the overall style of the gameplay.

I only say the range nerf because the description of recon says it weakens with range and that just isn’t the case as of now. I’m not sure what it was before the buff tho. But yea honestly a game based around ranked buffs/nerfs would be boring to me at least rn I think the game is decently balanced as you said a few tweaks here and there but that’s it. I’m not about removing recon or making anything in this game utterly useless

Ugh this is so ridiculous I don't even know where to start. Yes, instantly knowing the location of every enemy team and individual player is massively op. Seeing an enemy team 100m+ out is extremely valuable information. Seeing where someone spawns is also valuable info.

Recon scales with gun skill, the better your aim, the more value you get out of it.

In fps games, information is the most important part of the game after your aim. Wallhacks/esp give the biggest advantage short of rage aim hacks of all cheats - it's one of the most universally powerful cheats that exist. How can you possibly sit here and claim it's something that belongs in fps games? It trivializes literally 90% of all non-aim related fps skills. That's absurd.

Wall hacks do not and never will belong in fps games. It was absolutely a massive mistake to include recon in the game, and i hope the devs correct that mistake.

Am I correct in the assumption that you believe that playstyle is being creative?

If so recon sense is the complete opposite. It devalues every other method of acquiring intel on the enemy teams since you can press q and have all the info you would need. It completely devalues one major skill in a players skillkset in a tactical fps - game sense and lessens the need for the other one - aim, since you can literally just preaim the corner.
Since there is no actual counter to it you are also unable to find a creative way to get around it or outplay it.

Imo it should be balanced along those line:
Make it so it functions similar to thermal vision of light. Where you have to pull out a tablet to activate it and it stays activated for a set amount of time and goes on a long cooldown afterwards. Also make it pulse twice maybe three times every 5 seconds instead of a continuous vision. Each pulse would outline enemies for 1second. A notification for other players that they are seen should be added aswell.

It would still allow you to gather important info of the position of enemies and their general destination while making counterplay possible.

If that still turns out to be suboptimal maybe scrap the ability and think of something new. There are enough players here to surely brainstorm some amazing ability.

Maybe fix the connection errors so people can actually play the game instead of getting error code TFLA0002 even after all driver updates, restarting routers, and more. Now I’ve recommended a genuinely decent game to friends who have it and now I can’t play and I know this is effecting more people than just me and no one gives a flying fuck to fix it. If you guys do, at least fucking tell us you’re working on it.

One guy from EU server literally argued with me because I was "complaining" and over-exaggerating. Started backtracking after I showed proof

I understand everyone here hates recon and it most likely is going to be nerfed. I agree with maybe a pulsating effect where it pulses 2-3 times that’s a good idea and it still would make it pretty viable. But is it the biggest issue in the game at the moment I definitely don’t think so.

Recon is an ability that takes skill and communication. This is entirely dependent on the player using it.

If you are playing competitively than you would have a game sense for spawn points and map movement.

This ability doesn't belong in any FPS that YOU enjoy and your idea of what an FPS is doesn't define the genre as a whole.

Possible soutions to replace the aim assist patch:

  1. They disable crossplay entirely and have 2 different builds of the game. This would be a nuclear option not recommended.

  2. They buff MKB users by giving them bullet magnetism. Buff instead of nerf. That's always better.

  3. They can filter inputs on PC. Forcing controller PC players to play with console or have they're own subdivision on PC.

  4. Have it so when console players enable crossplay they have this patches current aim assist. When disabled have pre patch aim assist

Please change the way XP is rewarded at the end of a game. It is very unfogiving to play a game well, only to lose due to bad teammates. Considering the teams are not chosen by skill it is very likely you can lose a match and getting barely any xp because of it is really unmotivating

I agree that recon sense has a place in the game if it is balanced. As it is now though it requires the least amount of skill out of any spec of the game. You will be hard-pressed to find anyone that agrees with you that it requires much skill to use. It actually emulates a lack of skill. Not saying it isn't fun and you don't FEEL like a badass when you use it but don't delude yourself into thinking it requires much skill to use.

Are there angry trolls in here raging bc they just aren't good at tactical FPS games? Yes. Are there also people in here who like the game and are critical bc they want to help it be better? Definitely. I am of the latter and I think a lot of other people who criticize the current recon sense are as well. It will almost definitely be changed and I hope in the next patch. The game will be better off.

Change Recon with a Jetpack ability, allows you to fly and only recharges when off, like cloak and if you finish the charge there's a cool down, the take off speed should be the same as taking a zipline, however It can't be spammed quickly, also It takes time to reach max speed

Literally living in an alternate reality, like christ. Recon does not take skill, you press a button and instantly have all the information you would ever need in a game, something which would require severe cheats in any other game. Recon completely removes the need for 90% of non-aim related skill in the game, which I said before. It does not require skill at all to get use out of it.

You no longer need to gather info, you no longer need to think about your positioning, you no longer need to make decisions, you don't need communication because you already have all the info your teammates could give you anyway, all you have to do is lineup your crosshair and not choke when they run into it. It removes all uncertainty from fights.

Trying to claim my opinion comes from "anger, skill and competitive issues" is fucking ridiculous, I'm dropping 25-0 in ranked lobbies and 40 kills in casual lobbies using recon.

The entire FPS genre breaks down when wallhacks become present - it's got nothing to do with "my version of an ideal fps".

@obsidian solar I don't think that would work on medium(since zip+pad are just better), but that would actually be a legit kickass option on heavy to give them a limited vertical mobility option, long as it's a bit slow and leaves them vulnerable so there's some risk involved, it would help them keep up with their light/medium teammates. As long as they can't shoot while flying

If they could keep nerfs/buffs patches to only ranked keeping it separate from casual modes that would be ideal for me.

I slightly agree with "beats it in the sense of having a slight advantage" because a complete rock/paper/scissors gameplay is unfair.

I think most opinions about nerfs and removals are from anger, skill, and competitive issues. I also think a lot of players are going into this game and expecting it to play like another game they might enjoy.

I also think most opinions are near-sighted and don't take into the domino effect that can happen from balancing issues.

The invis+DB combo was devastating until the AA patch and Recon counter.

The issue wasn't invisibility or the double barrel. It was aim assist and not being properly countered.

The invis+DB wasn't even a problem in ranked. Because light is rarely used in rank.

This was entirely a casual problem which was solved thankfully before invisibility or the weapon got nerfed.

Recon just needs to return to where it was before it's buff. They just need to roll back the patch on it.

C4 just needs to weigh down throwables, and all barrels need their health reduced. These changes help balance out the tactic without nerfing the heavy class itself.

Light needs 2 breach charges which would be fair and allow them to counter nuke as well.

Light needs more teamplay gadgets that would help make them more viable in ranked modes.

I enjoy the gameplay and wish to preserve it as close to it's initial experience.

I hope that Embark does too.

It doesn't shoot for you.

It doesn't move you.

It doesn't give information to the team.

It just gives you eyes.

The rest is entirely dependent on the player's own personal skill.

Activate recon and stand still. Let me know how that works out for you.

While someone uses recon you also no longer have a support, no longer have a teammate who’s working WITH you, you no longer have the Healer you no longer have the cash out protector with the turrets you no longer have someone who is willing to defib you. When you run recon your play style becomes a lone wolf. This does not help the team but detriments it. It seems like most of your problem with recon comes from it already being somewhat of a preexisting hack. That should not make or break recon because it is a hack that already exists in other games. I agree with maybe it needs to be changed but a lot of people want it completely removed and that should not be the case.
