Sword being bad may very well be unsolvable because of the nature of the game. Making sword alone good comes at the risk of making sword alone broken to the point of mass frustration
This i kinda firmly disagree with for obvious reasons but honestly I don't think the finals would be as unique and fun as it is without melee. Like the devs keep trying to make this a sweaty esports game, look at season 3 and 8 for proof, but I think if they just gave up on making it solely balanced around comp, and took a sorta TF2 approach (like TF2 but if valve actually still cared for the game) of keeping the game goofy and fun while helping the comp players run tournaments and keeping them in mind for balance, then honestly we could get best of both worlds
I agree, the vast majority of players arenāt interested in Esports, I understand trickle down balance but Tournament Players/ ESPORTS Leagues play with a very narrow selection of weapons and gadgets that isnāt comparable to the casual scene in the slightest
At the very least (unlike TF2) what the high tier competitive players are playing is the same game as the casuals.

Melee is good for being unique and Not a Gunā¢, that's a sentiment we can all relate to. But in practice, if you make the goofy melee weapon viable on it's own, it's historically stomped pubs worse than the double barrel. Melee weapons take a lot less mechanical skill to master.

My ideal is for every weapon to be viable and the lines to be so blurred between the best and the worst that shock value alone could see the worst brought to tournaments and work.

tbh i think that would solve a lot of issues is them dropping their current design philosophy in general so im with you on it. I know people say there is roles for classes in the game but especially with the lack of changes recent seasons and addition of healing for every class. It would be nice to see what they are actually thinking of, because im starting to believe they just stopped caring a certain season and fully outsourced balancing ideas to a free version of chat gpt

"gateway cannibalizing zipline" when really the issue to a planted gateway on the cashout to run it quickly has minimal counter play. light glitch grenade BEFORE the gateway opens, and goo moving the box away from popping in. obviously gateway is strong in combat, but its still used the same in that regard with the range nerf, and people still place it on the cashout to instantly teleport 50+ meters and run the box asap instead of 70+. there just seems to be a disconnect entirely or they just arent smart idk

im not gonna say teleporting the cashout is insanely broken, but that is obviously what majority of its usage was and its frustrating to not even be able to just grab the box as it pops up to most people

They could change the mechanic slightly to where the dart tracks for a certain distance only (ex. 75 meters) but in return the player it tracks takes a small amount of damage when they move unless they go through a 1 sec animation to remove the dart

I like the idea of a health bar and lowering its health for throwing shit into it but Iād suggest making repeat uses (per player) decrease the health opposed to general use.
If a stinky Light leaves a gateway in a bad spot, Iād like a standard 3man team to be able to take advantage of it and be able to give chase without needing to worry about it not having enough health to get the entire team through it

I think the fix for gateway counter play is just to make it so things cant just fall through the gateway. If someone doesnt throw or carry the vault through it just falls to the ground.
Then a team needs to actually stay and fight to make sure the vault makes it. Then it's not just oops sorry your light didnt have glitch grenades

Well I thought because earlier someone was talking about breaking the gateway maybe instead of that the first portal is breakable BUT only if the second one isnāt placed or āactivatedā

I legitimately think just making the vault not fall through the gateway fixes a lot of the issues with it. The vault being set and forget outside of a couple gadgets is dumb. Make the gateway team be active in the play, not just stand there with their thumb up their ass.

I can't explain it,I don't know why though it could be placebo,the cl40 feels way better to use with the jank pack than the actual animations,it feels way more responsive and reliable
i felt this way with the model when I bought the eclipse shade skin. the flip cycling just makes it so much easier to place my shots somehow
might just be a morale thing. you enjoy the aesthetics of the gun you're using more so you enjoy using it more so you feel more pumped

C4 is great for the specific purpose of stalling the cashout risklessly
if you're not playing cashout it loses a lot of value, but in cashout it's invaluable. if your heavy is alive with C4 on the box, they can effectively stall any steal attempt
it's decent for setting up traps and destroying cover or creating routes or whatever but its utility above the RPG is stalling for sure
use the RPG trust, it's good for damn near everything
my rpg is practically always on cooldown cause I never run out of reasons to use it

You should run it with Pyro mines and barricades and goo gun,leave spaces open enough for people to be forced into hidden mines (you should really use explosive mine instead of c4 for this,put the c4 on the cashout with mines,wait for someone to steal,set off your nuke)

Blame "improved destruction" for the stupid pile up of debris. But I don't think launchers are the reason for the buildings collapsing
its the fact there are 16 people all with their own destructive tools (and canisters) on maps where buildings dont have any more health than usual
I kinda love the jungle gym-esque debris piles. on horizon it's genuinely a treat when the middle building is reduced to a huge rubble pile and everyone's fighting over cover in a terrifying open field
I can imagine a few solutions. Add a forcefield perhaps 10 meters away from each spawn zone so one team can't literally put it right on the border for a free win. FYI the defending team can actually push a box all the way into their zone and just auto win because it's literally impossible for the attackers to capture it.

High ground is the best position for grenade launchers,if they are trapped in rubble or on the ground with no structures they're nearly a free kill,cl40 takes a lot to break walls and is best used at shotgun range and isn't super viable in point break

The MGL fires sticky grenades that are detonates with M2. But by firing them and then hitting M2 you can airburst them or detonate early

the reason i stopped playing tf2 has moreso to do with meet your match changing the way joining a game works, i hate the queue system and it took all the valve servers
before youd just pop the server browser pick a server and you were in
now unless theres community servers in your area you have to use the queue system that takes forever
Maybe Team Fortress 3 will be a launch title for GabeCube
(for context, the Meet your Match update tried to update the old game finding system from "here's a server list, choose one" or "queue for a random server", to something more like competitive shooters and The Finals have with our queueing systems.)
eSports was all the rage at the time, and TF2's built in ranked flopped harder than any other ranked mode I've seen.
yeah they didnt take any of the feedback given by players in the comp community during beta so it released in a bad state and then everyone stopped playing it

so the "reduced stun" for the winch seems to be the "freeze" before it starts pulling. So it basically just starts pulling the target quicker. Both the target and user regain control faster than before
Not sure, haven't used Winch this season. Mesh buffs were an even harder nerf to Winch because people using Mesh means less using Winch
And Mesh is inherently a less frustrating specialization to fight, hence less frustration.
im not sure, but it feels like the gap between when the user and target regain control has become wider, making the pull more advantageous when youre alone
there is less time for your team to hit them while they are stunned, but you have a bigger advantage individually
I guess. I think the buff to Mesh did more for nerfing the Winch than the actual Winch nerfs did.

I guess I see the lights as the smallest player model using the most mobile and evasive kit in the game. Coupled with the easiest guns in the game to use if youre not using some meme weapon like dagger.
I recently used the light class extensively for the first time this season and I was blown away with how easy the class is. Legitimately, if you can just not play like an imbecile and die immediately, its free kills and wins all the way to diamond.
Make manoeuvring better and that would balance out the large health gaps, movements ok as it is now but outside of tactical abilities it's not the greatest
That is purely however as I enjoy the grappling hook movement and would like to do more with it tho, it's not a necessity
Yeah, I think you have to be maliable if you wanna do more than just racking up kills, but the whole gimmick of the class is glass cannon. I think that's why they made the Vanish Bomb a thing, so you can spread your cloak out to your teammates, and added the med gun to give a pseudo-healer aspect
If the servers weren't ran out of a homeless shelter in Bangladesh I would be fine with making lights movement even better
The M11, V9S, ARN, and LH1 feel like cheating. I think the problem with light is the narcolepsy that comes with the guns playing themselves and the most boring kit in the game outside of grapple hook.

M11 is the fastest and best close up
MP5 is a bit slower but hits harder
ARN has the magazine cap, faster and weaker than MP5, and handles distance better than both
Sword is one of the most easy weapons in the game, it's super free, I've not tried the dagger but from playing against it that also seems pretty easy
The M11 is truly insane. The fact that its in the game blows me away.

I've 1v1d a lot of heavies, you can really tell which ones are actually good at the game and which ones are using the extra health as a clutch

The V9S is in a stage where the XP was a few seasons ago. It was just insane and the range was nuts. Took embark half a season to fix it, and then they dumpstered the XP by releasing the ARN

You'll be ruby in no time if you stay that consistent.
I think your next step is distinguishing between high impact and low impact kills. You can farm kills easy but have them get revived without your team getting value from it.

Someone suggested a goose gun for the heavy and I'd be on board for that.
I think the hard part with shotguns is most additions would cannibalize weapons already present in the classes or homogenize between classes.
The origin to me looks like a matter for medium. AA12 would have to be terrible to not just replace the SA. The M4 would probably work on light but its a second semi auto shotgun for mid range fast moving combat.

I mainly wanted to fill in the gaps. Light and Medium don't have semi-autos, and heavy has no break-action. Light needs a tube-fed, medium needs a mag-fed. Simple logic.
Personally I don't care what the light and medium class get.
Just spread the damage out over a LOT of pellets. Distance is fine, just not lethal.
I think even 140 (anti-light 1shoting) could spread out the damage. Randon spread will help, as well.

ok genuinely got a question about the respawn per defib. I got revived per Defib and had a Defib. I shot a Light immediately twice in a row, but the first shot did not do as much damage. I got a total of 136 instead of 176 as it usually is.
Do you do half damage when still in your invulnerability state?

I sadly have no clip, but I can give a step by step on what happened.
- Point Break
- I had a Repeater, the enemy Light has a sniper. We were both around Medium Range, so there is no damage falloff
- I had just died but got revived by someone else with a Defib
- The immediate second I got up, I hit the Light 2 times, remembering how a Light dies to it.
- He barely survives with 1 bar, and I die again
- Damage recap says I did 136 damage, which couldn't be unless the first hit was halved (Tho if it was truly halved it should have been 132 so idk why it said 136)
Only likely explanation I can think of is that they were further away than you thought and you did get falloff.
Damage recap can be wrong, but if you definitely got two hitmarkers then it must have been falloff

I can even describe where I was standing, but I think that really will not help. Been playing Repeater for a long time so I can only say that this range was not enough for any falloff

Otherwise it could have been that the last one was discounted due to your death, and the extra damage to the light came from another source

So the burden is on everyone else to have their things rebalanced so these drooling apes can continue to play the game that way. Got a friend to check it with me. At around 45 meters I did indeed 141 damage in 2 hits, so it WAS damage falloff after all, no bug with the invinciblity
