it's also possible that XY, RR, 1X2 are for only one MW.AREA, so for example 2C: XY, 2B: RR, 2A: 1X2

wicked pier
#

XY = 2 variables
RR = Real numbers? there's 2 of them?
1X2 = possibly an operation or solution

1X2 is a term for sports betting odds if we were to take it literally

#

maybe it should be read as "1 crosses 2"

or maybe we need to replace X, literally as if it were a string

"1"+x+"2"

#

Good catch! Either means the star thing is more likely or less likely (great). If this is the same idea, though, those 3 stars might be pointing to "TEL"

#

This not entirely unrelated to that TEL-Skyway network-Skyway Stadium-De Sable Hotel idea, since I'm pretty sure it went through Chicago (btw - I original posted about this Skyway thing because of it being an early "RR" = radio relay and also going cross country from NYC to San Fran) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jean_Baptiste_Point_du_Sable

Jean Baptiste Point du Sable (French pronunciation: [ʒɑ̃ batist pwɛ̃ dy sɑbl]; also spelled Point de Sable, Point au Sable, Point Sable, Pointe DuSable, or Pointe du Sable; before 1750 – August 28, 1818) is regarded as the first permanent non-Native settler of what would later become Chicago, Illinois, and is recognized as the city's fou...

#

I really want "xyRR1x2" to be "MORRROW," now... don't always get what you want, though.

#

Some associations:

  • if xy are just variables, then why not XY = MO
  • if 1x2 is indeed a row matrix then why not 1x2 = ROW
  • bracketed with an "MW" (like in the Level 3 MW.Areas)
  • MORRROW = MORROW having to do with days and dawns
  • rotational symmetry around the "RRR," perhaps 3 rotations around the RRR, i.e., the sun coming up 3 times
  • Rob saying R-r-r-upertius had me thinking we might get a "R-R-R..." somewhere, i.e., as many R's as we might need
  • Three R's kinda nice, maybe three dawns (three morrows) association

Sable-Chicago connection: Mercury Sable and its Ford Taurus counterpart were both manufactured in Ford's Chicago Assembly Plant, Ford's oldest continuously operated mfg plant, on Chicago's South Side https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mercury_Sable

The Mercury Sable is a range of automobiles manufactured and marketed by the Mercury brand of Ford Motor Company. Introduced on December 26, 1985, as the replacement for the Mercury Marquis, the Sable marked the transition of the mid-size Mercury product range to front-wheel drive.
Over its production span, the Sable was Mercury's badge-engineer...

#

DuSable Park in Chicago interesting, too... I'm gonna look and see if the area bears any resemblance to Skyway Stadium's layout

#

It's interesting that there are canals around the area of the park. Accounting for the chasms cutting through Skyway??? Sorry, trying not to force this connection too much

Something I keep forgetting to factor in is that the coordinates are seperately attached to each MW.AREA. Which implies they can be interpreted or treated differently for each. It's weird having 5 coordinates though, doesn't seem to line up with the requirement of 3 solutions (Xs) per-area and you can't exactly make an "X" with more than 4.

Something you can do is make triangles of three points for each area, starting with point 1 for area 1, point 2 for area 2, and point 3 for area 3; that ensures all 5 coordinates are involved. It's kinda random though so this probably isn't what we're supposed to do. Still just in case here are the areas of each

  • 1: 4,702,753 km²
  • 2: 4,174,669 km²
  • 3: 8,924,955 km²
#

it's so hard to work out what to do with the coordinates

#

maybe "Kara" was correct all along, but Rob never gave it any acknowledgement

Whether or not the stars point to letters in the signs they appear in, they are interesting themselves.

  • In the Glamora star, one could note the fact that it's 8-pointed and in a shape perhaps most associated with the Star of Bethlehem
  • Taking the four stars across the three signs of Argon, Glamora, and Eastwood, you get one 8-pointed, one 4-pointed, and two 5-pointed stars
  • Possible association to 8 = H, 5 = E, 5 = E, 4 = D.... or HEED (or maybe H33D, kinda like S33K)

Wonder if this is anything for "pentafoil" or "cinquefoil" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Potentilla_argentea

Potentilla argentea, known as hoary cinquefoil, silver cinquefoil, silvery cinquefoil, or silver-leaf cinquefoil, is a perennial herb (or forb) in the family Rosaceae. Potentilla argentea is native to Europe, Asia Minor, and Siberia, and is introduced throughout temperate areas in North America and in New Zealand.

Wow... lots of potentilla already in the thread! Good sign or bad sign.

#

No association yet between the potentilla argentea and pentafoil/cinquefoil that I could find

#

Many other "cinquefoil" plants, as well.

#

Cinquefoil or Potentilla is a genus containing over 300 species of flowering plants in the rose family.
Cinquefoil may also refer to:

Comarum, a genus of plants formerly included with Potentilla
Dasiphora, woody cinquefoils
Drymocallis, a genus formerly included with Potentilla
Sibbaldiopsis, three-toothed cinquefoil
The cinquefoil knot, a knot...

Cinquefoil -> cinquefoil knot -> Solomon's Seal knot -> Solomon's seal
note: @dull marsh and @snow walrus were working on this first. Check their posts for more. @neon stream posted Seal of Solomon once before, as well.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solomon's_Seal

Solomon's Seal may refer to:

#

The Seal of Solomon or Ring of Solomon (Hebrew: חותם שלמה, Ḥotam Shlomo; Arabic: خاتم سليمان, Khātam Sulaymān) is the legendary signet ring attributed to king Solomon in medieval mystical traditions, from which it developed in parallel within Jewish mysticism, Islamic mysticism and Western occultism.
It is often depicted in...

#

Another star, to the extent we might be collecting them

#

Now that "Hex" is confirmed, interesting that there hasn't been a recent mention of a "hexagram" in the thread. Fact that it is composed of reflected triangles perhaps interesting, as well.

#

Solomon's seal also associated with pentagrams or pentangles, with subsequent association with Sir Gawain and the Green Knight and, later, a British folk rock band named Pentagle. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sir_Gawain_and_the_Green_Knight
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pentangle_(band)

Sir Gawain and the Green Knight is a late 14th-century chivalric romance in Middle English alliterative verse. The author is unknown; the title was given centuries later. It is one of the best-known Arthurian stories, with its plot combining two types of folk motifs: the beheading game and the exchange of winnings. Written in stanzas of allitera...

Pentangle are a British folk rock band, formed in London in 1967. The original band was active in the late 1960s and early 1970s, and a later version has been active since the early 1980s. The original line-up, which was unchanged throughout the band's first incarnation (1967–1973), was Jacqui McShee (vocals); John Renbourn (vocals and guitar)...

Man, this is good! I know others have worked on this, too, but this is laid out well.
Q: What if you only take the letters where the outline is definitely burnt out?
Might look different from in the game, but from your images, I only got EPESR when working from that assumption.
If this seems plausible to you or anyone else, then it might be that we don't double the E and get a candidate for the 4-letter clue (REPS), or you get things like PEERS, SPREE, SPEER, ESPER, PERES, or PERSE, all of which have wikipedia entries, and which might be a potentially separate clue altogether.
Sorry if I'm off base. Like I said, it might be clearer from inside the game that the other letters are obviously "out," as well.

#

Re: the 4 casino signs
I think I've exhausted all my ideas after this, but if you just take the letters that stand out from the rest on their respective signs, you might select the enormous Z from Zaraby, the enormous E and D from Eastwood, and the O with a star in it from Argon.
Result: DOZE
The craziest thing is that you might have found the same word over a year ago (see image). Wonder if anybody still remembers that.

white patrol
# dusk siren don't hold back now 🙂

Serpentes is Snake/Serpents suborder, and that kind of set the theme of biology. (Carl Linnaeus is a biologist after all)
Now we look at WHERE, "Serpentes" as a word showed up in game? Argon Casino

Combing aspect of biology and Serpentes and Argon, we get

"The Serpents Are gone"
which if we say this in aspect of biology, that means
Serpent's ancestor.

The serpents once existed but forgotten in evolution.

To take @low escarp thinking about the Monaco Lost Legacy connection, it might be worth expanding the logic, though. In that case, the lost legacy was connected to the cathedral (the ruins, specifically). Of course, cathedrals feature architectural "vaults," which kinda fits the line of thinking.
EDIT: People have noted the door in the vault on the map fragment. Would seem to fit the idea, as well.

Okay, I got a new project (sorry, all). Project Orp (Old Rob Posts).
So I might be dredging some stuff up (again, sorry, all), and apologies if I can't track down everything already covered in the past.
First up, a classic from @dull marsh
My contribution:
TL;DR - If no "orange dawn," then "orange night." If "orange night," then "blue dawn," "purple dawn," and "red dawn." This would make Zaraby the night, Glamora a dawn, Argon a dawn, and Eastwood a dawn. Perhaps only coincidentally (thought seemingly backwards), Zaraby is the only one without stars featured in the sign, while Glamora, Argon, and Eastwood do feature stars in their signs.

"Orange Night" (stylized as "ORANGE★NIGHT") is a song by Japanese singer-songwriter Rina Aiuchi. It was released on 2 November 2005 through Giza Studio, as the second single from her fifth studio album Delight. The song reached number twelve in Japan and has sold over 16,058 copies nationwide. Blue Night may refer to:

Purple Night is a studio album by free jazz pioneer Sun Ra. It was released in 1990 on A&M Records.

The Purple Dawn is a 1923 American silent romantic drama film that was produced, written, and directed by Charles R. Seeling. It stars Bessie Love, Bert Sprotte, and William E. Aldrich.
The film is presumed lost.

#

I highlighted the first entry in "Red Dawn (disambiguation)" previously in this thread: John Milius's Red Dawn (1984)
Some notable Red Dawn (1984) trivia:

  • The movie was filmed in and around the city of Las Vegas, New Mexico.
  • The director John Milius was also one of the screenwriters on Dirty Harry and Magnum Force, famous Clint Eastwood movies.
  • Milius also wrote a biographical film of Evel Knievel. Knievel experienced an infamously horrible accident trying to jump the fountains in front of Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas.
  • The screenwriter Kevin Reynolds eventually directed an adaptation of Tristan & Isolde (2006)

Would love to wait for some confirmation, but I did have the following thought as a means to generate a 4-letter word.

  • Suppose dawn = first letter in the name and night = last letter in the name
  • Zaraby = night ------> Y
  • Glamora = dawn ----> G
  • Argon = dawn -------> A
  • Eastwood = dawn ---> E
  • Most obvious idea GAYE (which seems like it would most likely refer to Marvin Gaye, though there are other possibilities)
  • Even if not, it is possible that "dawn = first letter in the name and night = last letter in the name" is still correct. We could try brute forcing the other possible permutations to see what other potential words we might generate. UPDATE: I think under this assumption, Zaraby being one of the dawns would pose a problem, as Z doesn't seem to offer a good candidate if I'm imagining things correctly.

dusk siren
#

ospuzed a new verb now

#

Another inspired by an old ludonope post on the red moon on Skyway Stadium that Rob eyed.

#

Red Moon (1990) was the title of an album by the group The Call.

#

Perhaps this is about "the [first] call" over AT&T's microwave telephony Skyway network and/or something about it (e.g., the date of the call, August 8, 1951).

#

Alternatively, Red Moon (1985) is the second game in Level 9 Computing's Time and Magik trilogy, published by Mandarin Software, released on all the good systems of the day.
Also, Mamamoo had an EP titled Red Moon (2018) featuring a song titled "Sky! Sky!" realeased in collaboration with the mobile game Icarus M.
Interesting connections through Kim Woo-seok (singer), who had a single titled "Red Moon."
Norwegian Eurovision contestant Red Moon had evocatively titled albums Phase I:XI and Phase 2:22.

yeah, I was going back to old posts on the elevator. gonna forward a potentially relevant one. was hard to know whether it ever got resolved though just from the search

#

@gloomy anvil made a video of the elevator last November. The absolutely simplest interpretation working from his assumptions was just a series of F's, A's, U's, and N's. Just found it interestind that there was also an obscure post on a work of art featuring a FAUN that was coded according to a previous EE clue. Seemed to have been doubted at the time, but that format could easily have been other than a coincidence (I spent some time on the alternate interpretation of geographic coordinates and there was always an extra X that really bothered me, whereas this other interpretation does not seem to have that particular inconsistency). I wasn't there for any of this, though. 🙁

A few watch cosmetics in the game all pointing to CASIO? Combined with Cassiopeia, were these potentially pointing to the Casio Cassiopeia line of personal digital assistants from back in the day?

#

Also, Cassiopeia was visible on Las Vegas, Eta Cassiopeiae is a binary star system, the Eastwood Hotel sign has two stars on it... fwiw (as always, likely nothing)

#

Two star motif on the Eastwood sign possibly an obvious graphic design choice, but Robert Heinlein wrote a novel titled "Double Star" with a first-person protagonist who is an actor. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Double_Star

Double Star is a science fiction novel by American writer Robert A. Heinlein, first serialized in Astounding Science Fiction (February, March, and April 1956) and published in hardcover the same year. It received the 1956 Hugo Award for Best Novel (his first).

dusk siren
#

Ludonope's observation of color-coded signs on Las Vegas got me wondering about other colored things that could be relevant. There are solar spectra and stellar classifications. "Dwarves" (red dwarf, orange dwarf, yellow dwarf) and "Giants." In fact, I wonder if "fee-fi-fo-fum" might be a clue about giant stars (e.g., red giants?). Not sure how, but perhaps a "giant" that hasn't been carefully considered yet.

De Sable ---> DS ---> Delta Sculptoris? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Delta_Sculptoris

Delta Sculptoris (δ Scl, δ Sculptoris) is a triple star system in the constellation Sculptor. It is approximately 137.4 light years from Earth.
The primary component, Delta Sculptoris A, is a white A-type main-sequence and Lambda Boötis star with an apparent magnitude of +4.59. It has a faint, magnitude 11.6 companion, Delta Sculptoris B, 4 ...

Re: 4-letter Vegas word
I thought I was finally out of vaguely plausible ideas, but just thought of what is hopefully the last one.

  • Focus entirely on the Eastwood sign: the oversized E and D are very prominent (not "colorful," so a strike against the idea, already)
  • Next, look below at the small * DRIVE *: again, I wonder if the stars are pointing either to the D + E on the ends or to the S + O above.
  • Inferred candidates: DEED, DEDE ( 😲 ), DOSE, ODES, DOES
velvet karma

#

maybe an ospuze thing

dusk siren
#

Interesting. I think so many candidates have already been ignored by Rob, I just don't know what to think. DOSE might have been one that he's already ignored for a while.

#

I can't get in the game to check till I get my new PC, but is the "ON" brighter than the rest of the "ARGON" sign, or is that just a rendering effect from having those letters face head on in the image? Presumably just needs to be glanced at in game.
As a positive, the ARGON sign is quite colorful and quite large. Perhaps there are two other letters that stand out when you look closely at the other signs. Or... as I said, you go in the game and all the ARGON letters are actually illuminated exactly the same.

dusk siren
#

btw - I never thought much about that very obvious pedestal thingy in the middle of Las Vegas. Presumably people have simply stood on that and looked around to see if they can notice any subtle changes when they do?

vagrant mauve
fervent temple
dusk siren
#

I still think this idea (@low escarp was thinking along these lines way before me) is still worth running down.

#

Perhaps we ignore the silly little stars on Eastwood.
The Glamora, Argon, and Lapis Grandstand stars are great, though.
Are there any other large, preferably colorful, letters with a star in, on, or right next to it visible on the map, probably close to those other three?

#

Those three would yield G, M, O...
EDIT: Unfortunately or fortunately, the only common English words that can be made with those is SMOG and GLOM. Can I buy an S or L with a star on the map?

#

* There's a second Argon sign in the distance, so that could be another O. Not a word, per se, but MOOG?

#

Clearly, the Moog synthesizer would have some cool trivia, and we know how any cool trivia can seem to be intrinsically connected to this hunt.

#

Weirdly reminiscent of the AI debate today. (Banned from use?!)

#

At least one of the tracks on this Van Morrison compilation album must have featured a Moog (good album title, too) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Philosopher's_Stone_(album)

The Philosopher's Stone is a compilation album by Northern Irish singer-songwriter Van Morrison released in 1998.
The songs released on this 2-CD thirty-track album were previously unreleased outtakes from 1969 to 1988. The album features twenty-five songs that had never been released, and early alternative renditions of "The Street Only Knew Y...

#

Anyway, tons of amazing musicians, albums, songs, and lore having to do with the Moog synthesizer... if it even has anything to do with the hunt.

#

fwiw, this is the image I pulled from above that illustrates how one could pan and quickly see all 4 of those starred letters in quick succession, including the one in the Argon sign in the distance.

Heyo! I’ve been doing a lot of noting things down and I wanna test 2 theories regarding #1203859365610922036 later tonight (or on the weekend if we don’t find 8 players today for Theory 2). After that is done, we can hunt for other EEs / Namas, etc.,

Meetup after today's event stream ends? ~ <t:1747846800:f>
Map: Monaco
**Variant: **Suspended Structures (Jack and the Beanstalk -> Castle in the Clouds)
**Time: Rain or Night **(Rain = Water / Jack and the Beanstalk “The Beanstalk grew in the night”)

Theory 1:

Detonate smoke/powder in the 4 fountains of Monaco at the same time. Going off the fertilizer idea and the components of IRL fire extinguishers. (Yes, this might be more complicated than just smoke, but I want to start off simple.)

Theory 2:,

“Dead bodies.”
Timed kills inside the 4 fountains across the map. (Would potentially require 8 players unless we use mines / C4.)

There are some hints towards defeat/victory and obviously Saint Valentine’s death. In addition, human bodies do contain nitrogen, potassium, and phosphorus.

Both of these are based on the idea that you need at least one other person to pull it off, going off Rob’s hint that it requires multiple people to trigger.

Obviously if anyone already tried this please let me know! hug_friend

Oh! And leave a magnifyegg reaction to post if you’re interested in helping!

# pure loom yeah, and it's that "it shouldn't have anything to do with it" that I think Rob ...

yes rock I get what you mean but, did rob said anything he don't like misleading? don't really remember, anyway- he said "it shouldn't help you with the hunt" that means there can be connections but rose EE clues or solving it shouldn't help you with the hunt, fyisics said Gold nama tama is the fundamental clue for rose EE, and Rob said gold namas are a important thing for The hunt lvl3, that means Nama will help LVL3 which proofs Nama shouldn't be a starting point for rose EE since he said "Rose EE won't help you solve the hunt"

pure loom
vagrant mauve
# vagrant mauve Yes. Namas might be "step 1" for both EEs, but also Namas aren't the "solution" ...

This also leads into something else I wanted to mention. Since TFEE is supposed to contribute to the lore of The Finals, and we've recently pieced together a lot more of the lore surrounding The Embarkverse it's a good thing to keep in mind that clues should, in theory, eventually tie back into the games lore in some vague way. That's part of what makes the "robber baron" idea so good. We have a lot of instances where the concept of a "robber baron" ties into the games lore.

# white patrol help me understand this fysic solve rose/rose clues won't help the hunt gold nam...

Gold Namas could be a point of intersection between these two EEs. He said that "finding the reason you can pick up the roses will not help you solve the big hunt", he did not say the two are not related in any way. It's entirely possible he doesn't even consider the gold namas part of either EE, but rather its own EE with implications in both. I just don't think it's so simple to say that because gold namas is important for TFEE, that it doesn't matter for roses at all.

#

Either way it doesn't matter much, we just find the gold namas and find out

Just going to rehash what I think is the most accurate top-level overview of level 3.
(Not anything new and I do post it a lot, but Rob confirmed the golden Namas today sooo sry Cat_Tongue)

Level 1: The Commence = Introduction to hunting and finding hidden objects (geocaching)
Level 2: The Promise = The reward, what we're hunting for (golden eggs)
Level 3: The Hunt = Hunting the golden eggs (Nama Tamas)

MW.AREA 1 = Europe -> Monaco (we've found a Golden Nama here already)
MW.AREA 2 = North America -> Las Vegas
MW.AREA 3 = Asia -> Seoul/Kyoto

19 (helps glue things together)

  • Commence + Promise + Hunt = 19 letters
  • Rabbit + Dolphin + Monkey = 19 letters
  • Slies + Cetacea + Asconce = 19 letters
  • Monaco + Las Vegas + Seoul (or Kyoto) = 19 letters

X (theorizing)

  • Level 1 was comprised of 3 Xs that each related to the level's solution (devoncrossing, ocb, galileo = geocaching).
  • Each MW.AREA is comprised of 3 Xs, so these may need to relate to each arena's Golden Nama. (maybe XY RR 1X2 comes into play here).
  • Rob replied to "Where does Namatama like to go on holiday?" with: "Three places, X, X, X" #easter-eggs message
  • X marks the spot -> X marks the Golden Namas on maps. (Monaco Lost Legacy, Las Vegas Masterplan markup, and the other Lost Legacy).
  • The 'X-Citing Discovery' sticker has 1 X and 9 dashes, and is in the shape of an S (19th letter) #1289459770063065088 message

again, nothing new, just a summary

#

here's an idea - if the gold Namas relate to Europe, Asia and USA for the main puzzle (coordinates), then two things:

  1. Nama 2 should be on Las Vegas, and Nama 3 should be Seoul or Kyoto

  2. Maybe the location they are found is meaningful and related to the overall puzzle - so the Monaco one is found in marble ruins, so maybe the main puzzle answers relate to Calcium Carbonate through that, and the location of a ruin in Europe. Likewise, the Las Vegas one would relate to gold, and Asian one to egg.
