I have to say.
I fancy a theory about SYSHorizon being "the edge" of the software that (lorewise) runs TF.
It makes sense to me that CNS is the old operating system on which the current commercialized version of TF runs.. We got a glimpse of that OS when they switched to TDM (btw: in the "old" version, cashout is an option, so methinks that was always in).
I also think that the old CNS software is still being used as OS, because it does something which the "modern" owners can't get right.. I strongly believe this is about the actual brain-software communication, the actual neural interface between game and player. (Scottys remark about a prototype and what not ties in neatly.)
On SYSHorizon, there is vortex like magnetic fields / wormholes and the map is unlike any other in terms of how "code-like" or rough it is.
This brings me to the conclusion, that SYSHorizon might be the oldest map (lorewise at least), and it would be the one closest to that human-software interface, "at the edge", if you want. Maybe it is even so close, that you can see the neural gateway (if i may coin that term)... And it certainly is the one were boundries might get thin, where you might find that secret room, where you can ferry over to some different thingy.

TL;DR: Just my take on the lore here.

There's a few things I want to point out on sys

Before CNS WT update, I found there's moving white grids, their direction are not set, but they are a set of loop, only in specific area of certain building too.
Location: Image 1, 2, 3, and 4

they moves like waves in the dolphin sea Image 8, some large fast, some small, less and weak (there's obvious one and not obvious ones, in-terms of lighting), or intertwined, the grid size and shapes are similar.
they tend to move up whenever the location is near center of the map (Art gallery and Museum, or near those buildings like image 3 and 4, the wall of Library facing center of the map.)

Campus and Workspace are the only two building I didn't find any of those, what they have in common is they are the buildings that is near sea or/and rather faraway from center of the map.

The sea that near work space (Image 5 and 6) don't have waves at all, contrary to dolphin sea

Those signs indicates there's specific set of gravity and magnetic field on this map (maybe)
