back when I was looking at percival which then led to the maniac computer, a chess related carryover was that the monaco map had pieces of a chess board laid throughout it, ie. pawns for walkway pieces, rooks for the tops of lights, minus the bishops

No bishop chess was also the type mentioned in a text related to percival which was named within the text "The Dream of Rhonabwy" (note the Rhotacism my rhodent loving friends 🐀 )

as well as the type of chess that the Maniac computer played when it became the first computer to beat a human at chess, 6x6 no bishop chess

Monaco was also related to the maniac computer directly because of the monte carlo integration which comes from monaco

I haven't been keeping up much with the EE's lately so I'm not entirely sure what things we've found with Aiw to be bringing it up but I hope chess have some substance to it and the idea of Alice chess could be useful

Maybe alice chess could serve as a sort of cypher? If you have or find something like chess positions or just doubled up numbers you could try making it into chess notation and following positions across two boards through the "looking glass" to decode them into their "wonderland" positions and then back into numbers for coordinate sets maybe?

it just kind of made me think since he was "knighted" maybe it could be a bit of a play on words hinting at chess being involved

it'd be a little difficult finding which numbers go to which board at what time I imagine... but it could work kind of like a lock mechanism almost... but using time?

As both boards positions line up with a piece's line of sight it could refer a to a move onto the other board it. Indicating a switch, thus giving a time for when to start using certain positions on the other board?

Imagine the example I gave but inferring where the starting gaps are in the B sides numbers by when the bishop is in the correct place and on the correct color's turn to line up with the bishop switching to B's board

kind of like a specific depth in a key to push a pin down to the right spot in a lock but instead of that it'd be the right amount of depth or moves in time and then the right position on the board/in space to be able to swap right over to the other board's piece and position without being lost

assuming the numbers line up like that atleast, it'd be a tooon more complicated if it didn't follow a pattern of leaving it's signature like that. If any of this ends up mattering at all that is 💀

I mean when you say it... it's december 4th... just whipping out it's the fourth of december when you ask the day is just devious 😭 the vibe I get is like "erm we must specify these intervals by how large the time they are meant to be alloting is" instead of like yeah it's december 4th. I just feel like it's the same kind of thing as saying I live at 5726 Input name here Lane when you ask where someones from. Like okay I know where to hunt you down if I need to but I still don't get where that is?? Instead of just being like North america or the state/county. Why say if it's the beginning middle or end of the month before telling them "when" they are to see if they're even looking in the right place when looking through dates. It also keeps them seperated neatly by what part of the year they're at. Approx 30 days 12 times making up 365 days a year, but only 12 sections to keep track of when skimming instead of days after days of checking back at what month you're in, or by looking at the middle instead of the start. Then just years go last naturally bc you probably don't need that info if you're handling something current it's just for organization and recency purposes so you can just put it at the end where it doesn't get in the way. MM/DD feels built how you use it rather than how it's objectively written. Like if it's the 30th of april you read 30/4/24 and you're reading that it is the 30th day in april instead of that it's april 30th (also imo you can just get confused reading things like 12/4/24 or 4/12/24 because it's not seperated you could just as easily think someone is using the other system and think the wrong date unless it's over 12 days specifically which is just jank 😭 ) . Or if you're writing it and don't remember what day it is, you'll know what month you're in unless maybe you're right at the very edge of the switch, so it slots in automatically as 12/XX/24 then you go forward onto the missing thing instead of starting from a missing day and needing to ask what to put first. Just feels more natural instead of immediately stopping you. Same for the clock it's like yeah I know the difference between 8:00 and 20:00 and its slightly better at keeping me up with whether it's night or day but I'm never telling someone it's 20 o'clock and PM does just as good of a job but is slotted in with how we use time instead of how time objectively is. It just feels w e i r d the other way 😭
